Each week, I will share random facts with you that are way too long for Twitter (sometimes 140 characters isn't enough) and yet a blog post would be too random. So enjoy hearing what's going on and all the events that I attended this week and will go to next week!
I am obsessed with Yelp! I love that even though it is a site full of reviews, that it's definitely an amazing community to bring people together! I love adding my two cents in and when I want to know about a vegetarian Thai restaurant, I placed this on a chat board and was directed to someone's personal list of Thai veggie places! This is such a great community and it is one where people are always listing events! If you have yet to check this out, you should and of course it's perfect for wherever you live! I have some items from Orlando (recent trip) and obviously NYC! In addition, this is not just about food, it's also about any place you go to that others should know about, My goal is to add items to this list that no one has ever covered! If you're on Yelp, let me know and I would love to add you!
I love a great find and there is nothing like sharing it with others! This week I have a lot of goodies to share with you and I am kicking iit off with the Fundraising in Style. Being a designer myself, I love supporting those who put themselves out there and with 10% of the proceeds of your purchases going to support music, art and more - your affordable splurges will go far in maintaining those who wish to remain creative! Take a peek and I hope to see you there this Thursday!
I love going away for the weekend and yet it leaves you working super hard before you leave and then playing catch up once you get back! With that being said and with Thanksgiving being days away and counting, I am finishing up the holiday guide (yes I know some people were "left out" but it was moreso an issue of having so many responses and keeping the formats going) and also prepping for other goodies for this year and slight format changes for next year. Paul and I had an amazing time this weekend in that we hung out and we got to talk about where we are going with projects that are soon to be revealed. In light of all the good stuff, today's post is me saying howdy and you can catch me on Twitter @Cocoabebe!
In addition, today there is a great sale going on at Idlewild Bookstore in Union Square, if you're in the area you need to go. Idlewild Books is a travel related bookstore which has amazing gifts. If you're at 12 West 19th St in NYC, you'll enjoy the amazing sale which is perfect for your next trip and also holiday gifts as well. I love that today they have had 20% off on all books but for you late risers and pseduo late owls, from noon to 7pm, you can enjoy 40% off travel accessories! Support a local bookstore who is indie who has an interesting selection and events that bring literature and other interests together as well.
First off, Happy March - we are that much deeper into the winter (which hasn't been too bad if you're in the NYC area), we're about to "spring forward" in time and of course the summer is that much closer (ah flip flops and shorts - have we really been parted this long)? So with that in mind, the Kitten Lounge is launching it's month long theme - THINK CITRUS. For the entire month of March, we're carrying you through this season with thoughts of citrus. We will be infusing your homes, wardrobe and palate with all things that are citrus! So if you think you have something that fits within this taste or within the color scheme - you'll find it right here.
Now, on to raising a glass. This recipe, which was found on Cocktail Times, combines my three loves: citrus, lavender and of course martinis. This definitely something that is aromatic to the senses and is also a great way to learn a new drink that is perfect for gatherings at your home or an event that you will be attending.
Citrus Lavender Martini
Ingredients:
- 1 wedge fresh orange
- 2 fresh lavender leaves (or 5 - 6 pieces dried lavender)
- 1 1/2 oz Level vodka
- 1/2 oz Cointreau
- 1/2 oz Sweet & Sour mix
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 packet of sugar in the raw
Muddle orange wedge and lavender at the base of the shaker (or a
mixer). Add vodka, Cointreau and sweet and sour mix over ice in the
shaker. Shake well and strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass.
(Optional: Rim martini glass with honey and dip rim in sugar)
On Thurs Dec 6th, Chanel had their amazing fashion show. I must say, that when people ask me what some of my favorite designers happen to be, Michael Kors and Chanel are always up there. When it comes to the classics, Chanel is definitely one that I love! This past Thursday this Amy Winehouse style inspired runway show hit the runways with much success! Take a look at the images courtesy of Yahoo and the AP! I love this coat with the embellishment.
I have to say that I definitely love the nod to the Amy Winehouse look. It definitely gave the show an interesting look and who isn't a fan of Karl Lagerfeld's designs anyway? This show had a variety of notables in attendance including Naomi Campbell, Emma Watson and more.
I love this look simply because of the whimsy that this outfit creates! Chanel's 2007/2008 collection took place in London. In addition to the amazing show, guests arrived in cars bearing the name and logo which is an interesting touch as well.
We love hearing from you! Suggestions, ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
Please send all food related questions to Paul, spa and wellness items to Keren and all other queries to Kimmie.
