I'm a huge believer in paying attention to the details whether it's what I wear over the weekends to run errands and hang out or what I wear when it's time to hit the friendly skies. I like for my travel gear to have a flow as you never know who you may meet in the airport or where you will be heading off to once you land. With upcoming travel being on my mind, along with Fashion Week, here are some fab essentials to consider. First off, your fave pair of heels must be protected and as my Jimmy Choo's are my babies, they should be in a shoe tote that will make them feel a little more comfortable during their journey. While jetting off from one locale to the next, I know that it is essential to have a passport cover that doesn't disappoint so I'm loving the simple but chic, Dooney and Bourke cover. Everything has to go somewhere and even when you travel it should be wrapped in luxury. Lanvin's snakeskin canvas suitcase looks phenom while also being easy to care for due to the fabric choice (we all know what happens to how our suitcases and how they are not handled so well - so having phenomenal materials when you're hitting your favorite carrier, may be something you want to think about). Of course the journey is a lot easier when you're not chilly - so I'm loving DKNY's beaded cardigan which looks fab over a number of looks from a ponte pant to a pair of jeans. With a bit of tweaking, you can ensure that you find your own travel checklist which will make you look like the jetsetter that you know you are.
Here lately I have been asked about my travel - what I wear, how do I stay chic and of course how comfortable is my look? There are times that I love to be a bit more casual when I travel if I know that I can change. But in an age where flights get delayed and schedules are moved up, I have no choice but to be ready for everything. Regardless of the temperatures, I am always in a flowing cardigan. It's easy and it's perfect for me to wrap myself up as the planes are super cold. A friend of mine told me that she loves the super long hoods as she can put it up and even block people out - I must try this as I get a lot of sleep on flights! I'm all about tank tops which make the look easy and when I'm going to a warm climate, I can just slip off the cardigan. I love traveling in boots - yes it's a pain at TSA but it looks fab and you can always pack up a pair of flip flops. Finally, it's always about the jewelry and I love this piece here which makes this casual outfit one with a little pop. Over the next few days you'll see some travel looks which are perfect to also wear for meetings, going out for drinks and so much more for your lifestyle.
It's all about moving around with ease and when he travels, there's no excuse to not be pulled together! If you know that you've got a flight whether it's a couple of hours or for much longer, learn to work a look that allows you to be comfortable while also showing that you don't throw your style out the window when you're moving and grooving. Now, I love to be cozy when I travel as planes can be chilly and I like to be cozy so I love this hooded cardigan (which you can totally steal for your own look as it's a good look on you - lucky lady) which is fab in grey! Under this, put on your favorite v-neck (James Perse, Gap Favorite T, etc) and then a nice pair of slim fit jeans in the wash of your choice. I am a huge believer in rocking a pair of Converse with this as a guy I once knew always travels with this footwear. Finally, the watch is an amazing way to wrap up this look. To fully look fab, rock your sunglasses and you're ready for whatever flight and if someone happens to snap a few pics you definitely won't be embarrassed!
Oh when I pack, I pack! Here is it that I will be away for about a week where I will be on a press trip in Miami for Schick, on to Mickey's House in Disney and then continuing on to Ft Lauderdale for some R&R! But before that, it takes me about a day to think about everything that I will be bringing with me. Today is a peek into my carry on bag! The bag is obviously familiar as it was used in my photoshoot for the Coach MYNY Fall campaign that is currently on their site for Fall! I'm loving that this bag will head to the airport with me! Now I had to show you some of the items that will be in my bag as they are my essentials!
In addition to my guilty pleasure of Life & Style, I will have Alphabet City by one of my new friends John Paul Buchmeyer which I am so excited to begin reading and is perfect when you're hanging out in the cabanas poolside! Because this trip is all about R&R I know that I will enjoy some bevvies so just in case I get a bit of a headache, I have some Migralex which is an organic headache medicine! When it get's too hot out there I love having my Dickinson's which keeps me cool and refreshed whether I'm getting out of a plane or turning over in my chair at the Delano! I get super thirsty on the way to the airport so I'm happy to have Drink Neuro with me which I will have Sleep with me as I have definitely been missing that over the past few weeks. I plan to be refreshed when I wake up from my slumber to hit the ground running when I head to Miami as there is much to do! With all the sun that I'll be soaking in, I need to have it in a safe way so Jane Iredale is coming strong with the SPF Translucent puff as well as the Lip Drink that has SPF in it as well! What else is in my bag? Well I'll let you know when I finish packing but I can't wait to finish. It'll have to wait as I'm on my way to Suffren, NY to Avon's R&D plant to learn about #LotusShine which is a new haircare product that will be available soon!
Traveling can be quite an issue. There is the packing, making sure that everything is in the right container and now we have to pack things that make the actual flight bearable. With that being said, one of my favorite luggage brands - Bric's is always a good place to start when it comes to having pieces that are easy to identify when you're in baggage claim. If you have standard black luggage (raising my hand), then look for tags that will make your bag pop! I love having colors and this is definitely an easy and reasonably priced way to go about this.
When you're on the flight, how about this cute Juicy Couture set with a neck rest and an eye mask! What a great way to bring in some color (don't forget a blanket as well) and for those who like to bring their favorite beverage how about this cute plastic flask from the Container Store. For those that will pass on this, you can always have this for the beach later on! Finally, how about these cute candles from Bond No. 9 that are perfect for traveling. After all the chaos it'll be nice to have a scent from home (and it comes in a great box). Enjoy these great ideas and think about what you will have when you're prepping for vacation!
