Interesting factoid about me, I don't like roses as a flower. So, Paul doesn't give me an arrangement of roses - but that doesn't mean that I don't like roses! In fact, I love it in my lip gloss, my toners, skincare and so much more. Last week, while I was in Philly, Paul went to Lush and got a number of bath products that smelled like roses. It was such an amazing aroma and of course when I began to think about this week's Shoe Sundays - I thought of rose/mauve hued shoes. The inspiration comes from Jill Stuart.
Roll over the above images to see why this would be great to include within your decor. Items have been curated from Horchow, Crate & Barrel, Voluspa and Kartell.
There is nothing better then being able to rock the nautical look by embracing white and navy together! First off start off with a very simple white shirt dress that is comfort at its best thanks to Hache! Make this look classic with a bit of edge by pairing this with Giuseppe Zanotti Denim Peep Toe Pumps as well as their Silver Finish Cuff Bracelet. I'm loving this clutch by Marc by Marc Jacobs that is a straw navy striped bag. Lanvin's Short Petal Necklace adds a sweet element to this look. Finally, I love Emily Armenta's Blue Mother of Pearl Teardrop Ring on Double Craveli Band is the perfect cocktail ring to wear to complete this look.
What I love about this look is that it is super versatile whether you're working at the office, having a lunch with colleagues and continuing on for a night of drinks and dinner. These components are SO basic but together are chic and can be worn with a number of looks that will add classic elements to the overall look!
This weekend is New Year's Eve - can you believe it? What is it about this holiday that brings low stress and has the most fun possible? I think it's that you can be as glam as you want to be and no one questions it whether you're off to a big bash or doing something smaller - glam comes with the territory! In that vein, today's post was inspired by Eugenia Kim's super sassy earmuffs that make me think of fab shades and hues. In today's Kimmie's 5s, we explore some of my faves!
Start out the night with Diptyque's Do Son Shower Gel which has tuberose, berries and flowers in it. This is a great way to ensure that you're night will start off amazing since you'll be aromatically in the right direction. For a fabulous look, it's about the eyes. I'm loving Bobbi Brown Black Ruby Sparkle Eye Palette which gives you quite a few options for a smoky eye. Bring in some of the old Hollywood vibe with YSL's eyeliner. Lips look amazing with Tom Ford's beauty line and with a rich hue which is perfect for lipstick. Finally, rock fab dark nails with Butter London which has a fab black polish which looks amazing no matter where you spend this evening!
When it comes to obsessing over a few items my closet does mini shifts but the above items are apart of my musts whether you're running to events, shoots, segments or just prepping for the upcoming holiday season! Since Fashion Week, some of these have been apart of my beauty arsenal and one item I just received yesterday but am definitely drooling over it in under 24 hours!
NP Set (available at Target) is a must in my world of lip gloss. After going to the presentation prior to New York Fashion Week and meeting Napoleon himself, I am convinced that he has a number of hues within the pinky spectrum to make you look amazing while leaving in so many enriching nutrients that you don't have to worry about stripping your lips! Yesterday as I ran out the door, my doorman let me know that a little bag was waiting for me and thankfully I paused as L'Occitane just sent me their lip balms. Now I have been a fan of their traditional hand creams for years and I think it makes awesome gifts whether it's a thank you or you're just being a proper house guest but starting Oct 12th, you can get their limited edition "In the Patterns and Scents of Africa" which has Bogolan packaging designs that are inspired by traditional fabrics of the villages. In addition to the lip balms (including 10% shea), there are shea butters in hand and body creams. The three scents are derived from 3 African flowers: Desert Rose from Morocco (fruity and zesty), Hibiscus from Egypt (sensual and sunny) and Cocoa Flower from the Ivory Coast (warm with that hint of cacao).
During NYFW, Kitten Lounge celebrated its 4th Anniversary at a party at Shobha and one of our generous sponsors was Birchbox which included their Sept box (items curated in conjunction with Scoop NYC. Within this curation, they included Bliss' Blood Orange and White Pepper Hand Cream which is perfect for fitting within your purse. Everyone knows that I am obsessed over blood orange and I love the thick nourishing feel of this cream while being in one of my favorite scents. Finally, Caswell-Massey has been a mainstay in my travels as I carry the packets of their Cucumber Eye Pads with me. But if you wish to stock up or have a little love on your vanity, they also have this fab jar, These are soothing as the real cucumbers without having to cut them into the thin sheets. Simply take them out and place them on your eyes and be transported to calm.
Although it's the winter, I'm already thinking Spring! I'm such a fan of Gerber (or Gerbera) Daisies which has lots of color and can either grow out on your balcony (backyard) or you can pick some up. Flowers are an excellent way to add color but at the same time, it's all about the vase! If you want to grow your own, I included a link above of a great place to purchase seeds. May through Sept is the best season for growing them but be careful about any frost that may pop out when you first start planting them! What kind of vases do you like?
No matter the season or the style of your apartment/home, having blue in your home is definitely therapeutic and should be used even if it is only a pop of color! These glass vases which are perfect to fill with liquid, flowers, marbles, etc are available in a variety of sizes at Pottery Barn and yes they can be monogrammed as well. This is such a great housewarming gift, graduation or something for you to get yourself whether you line them up in various heights, place it in your kitchen or within your bedroom. You can make your own seascape in whatever way best fits your mood or style. Of course, this will ensure that you'll either visit the store, catalog or site in order to find other items that would work as well! I love summer and a great idea!
This is proof that I do read comments that come in on my site. The other day, I had posted about Christian Dior's Fashion Week runway show on See Pretty Things, I received a comment from an amazing designer Mikiye. When I followed her link, I found that she created a variety of flower hair accessories that have Swarovski Crystals on them. This is such a great look that is perfect to put the finishing touch on outfits that will be worn at a cocktail party or anything that needs a little sprucing up. Of course this one is one of my favorites since it's apart of our theme of Citrus and it allows us to bring out our inner sunshine that we carry with us all day long! Make sure you visit her site and purchase a few cute things and support indie designers that are out there.
