In co-creating Shoe Week, I had a number of responsibilities. One of the key ones being securing brands, pairing the right ones together and creating a flow from their lookbooks. I have worn Theia Couture for a number of my events throughout the past couple of years and when I thought of a phenomenal day dress and evening line, this was it. In addition, I knew that they had worked with the footwear brand, Q by Pasquale and so it was a no brainer to bring them together. I loved having the chic hues of creams, gold and white intermixed with florals to allow the shoes to pop! Just like our other shows, we had a phenomenal DJ, DJ PM who mixed a series of music that took us back to Frank Sinatra and brought it forward to modern day! Of course, you can see more via our Facebook album and we love that personality, Diana Falzone was apart of this show!
One of my favorite footwear brands is Casadei! How cute are these tall boots which allow you to choose how high you want them to be whether it's over the knee, calf length or a mid boot? This fab blush hue is perfect to bring in your bedroom as well. I love this Horchow bedding which is very cozy to come to at the end of a long day. From Pottery Barn, I love the Charlotte Armoire which is perfect for putting away your items as well as this fabulous double width mirror. Finally, I'm loving this blush chandelier by Neiman Marcus. Together, this is definitely an oasis.
Last week, I shared with you a little bit about Shoe Week, a shoe focused NYFW that will take place in addition to all the amazing activities that come to NY during Fashion Week! My co-founder and CEO of Shoe Week is Paul Farkas. Together we work on bringing brands together in a synergistic way and to maintain our vision of footwear and their related accessories counterparts to be prominently placed throughout all of our events. In addition to a number of footwear brands that will be included, I'm also please with our apparel and accessory brands such as Linea Pelle, Ted Rossi and former Project Runway contestant and fabulous runway designer, Althea Harper who will be hitting our Shoe Week Runway show at The Glass Houses! Stay in the loop by following us on Facebook and on Twitter!
Here are some of my favorite looks from Richard James as he's known as a suit designer but I'm also loving the playful board shorts within his Spring/Summer 2013 collection! How can you not love his fabulous footwear in bright colors as well?
I hope that everyone is as excited as I was last week when I was in the Ideeli showroom for an editor's preview! I have been a fan of Desigual for quite sometime and to hear that this afternoon they launched footwear on one of my favorite sites - I was pretty ecstatic. Whether you're looking for low top sneakers, flip flops, sandals, heels and more - you'll love that there are quite a few options. The sale is only for the day so definitely make sure that you click to get your pair to complete your spring and summer looks. If you have yet to sign up for ideeli which connects you with a number of brands that are your fave or will be your new ones - click here and sign up!
Today was definitely a crazy day and there were tons of pics but I will have to go back and get those to everyone! So it's my birthday today (hooray), I have a few shows and then I will be at Robert Verdi's doing the first of my 3 Meet and Greets for my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 collection. I have been hearing the buzz that has been coming through so it will be nice to be there in person. If you miss me today, you can see me on Tues (3-5) and then again on Thurs (2-5). So it's a busy week for sure. In addition, a huge shoutout to Natori who is dressing me all week!
Courtesy of Sennheiser, my sister and I headed over to the Style 360 lounge and attended the Marithe Francoise Girbaud Denim show for Spring/Summer 2012. Denim is a staple in most people's wardrobe and I loved that this show was simple. It was about great style, a classic tee/tank and once again a number of diverse models rocking the runway from the cutest little girls all the way to attractive looking adults. I truly enjoyed the footwear that the men had on during their struts (love that they did an innovative paint look on some of the guys and girls during portions of the show).
It's day 4 of NYFW as well as the remembrance of 9/11. Lela Rose opened her show by turning off the lights (as is done at every show) and played John Lennon's "Imagine". It was such a tranquil and unifying moment as we were all singing along with the twinkling lights of phones in the audience. As the song faded out, the tempo kicked in and our eyes were treated to pastels and vibrant orange and sunburst hues. Looks that were perfect for being out and about to nicer affairs graced the runway. Of course, Lela Rose included her footwear line that's available at Payless as well as her jewelry collection. I fell in love with many of her pieces that were in grey tones as well. The show was zippy and vibrant - of course we have the final walk as well as the girls showed us a blend of fresh looks with some throwing a little love to the day dresses of Doris Day!
I'm such a believer in appropriate plaid and I love love the way that it looks! You always have to be dressed for brunch and although I think that people should step up their look when it comes to brunch. What I love about this look is that I love the footwear which is super casual and although the plaid is very typical, I love the pop underneath which is the Chuck Norris tee (hello they made him a Texas Ranger a few weeks ago). With New Years Eve days away, you have to think about where you are going to go for your first brunch date of the year which is the most important one of the year as it will set the tone for all your gossip fests as well as adoring words! This is a super cute look that will be perfect for 2011 - where are you guys heading off to?
It's all about moving around with ease and when he travels, there's no excuse to not be pulled together! If you know that you've got a flight whether it's a couple of hours or for much longer, learn to work a look that allows you to be comfortable while also showing that you don't throw your style out the window when you're moving and grooving. Now, I love to be cozy when I travel as planes can be chilly and I like to be cozy so I love this hooded cardigan (which you can totally steal for your own look as it's a good look on you - lucky lady) which is fab in grey! Under this, put on your favorite v-neck (James Perse, Gap Favorite T, etc) and then a nice pair of slim fit jeans in the wash of your choice. I am a huge believer in rocking a pair of Converse with this as a guy I once knew always travels with this footwear. Finally, the watch is an amazing way to wrap up this look. To fully look fab, rock your sunglasses and you're ready for whatever flight and if someone happens to snap a few pics you definitely won't be embarrassed!
Happy April! Can you believe we are so close to summer and everything that's amazing about warm weather? I love it! LD Tuttle is one of my favorite footwear brands! When it comes to boots, I always take a look at what they have to offer from season to season. As usual, they haven't disappointed this spring/summer. If you still love wearing a boot with a heel and yet you like the idea of staying cool for the summer, the Spectre Ice Boots are perfect for you! They can be worn with tunics, cute dresses and even ruched pants as well. Although I love all the shoes below, these would be my picks for the days that I want to step up my look and of course it would be my first thought to take with me for the next Fashion Week here in NY. Take some time to check out these cute looks in our gallery and of course, visit the website.
I have no idea if some people's sales that were a bit early were their Black Friday or Cyber Monday specials. Either way, tomorrow you can either hit the streets or have the benefit of enjoying Black Friday from your computer as some people want to intice you days prior to the Cyber Monday extravaganza! DSW is having various specials today and also on Monday as well. Obviously, they are not the only ones doing this as Woodbury Commons opened last night later in the day in anticipation if great sales.
Whether you're shopping from home or out on the streets today or this weekend, deals are bound to be had! Make sure you have a plan and have plenty of fluids as some people begin building their days. Leave a note of any great finds that you happen to find along the way so that we can share this with others.
After seeing the Michael Kors Fashion Week show a few days ago, as I sat thinking about my post for today, I knew that I wanted to add some of his fab accessories. I am all about his bags (have always been a fan) and of course, how could I not mention the footwear which are perfect. I feel that he has quite a few items within his collection that use the olivine color which is the perfect neutral while adding quite a pop of color. Take some time to check out these items and then of course start putting together items from his label as well.
It is so close to that time of year – how exciting is it to think that your boots will be replaced by cute sandals, flip flops and espadrilles? I have to say that I have never owned a pair of espadrilles as shocking as this may sound and so this summer I am definitely introducing this into my wardrobe as I see this as a HUGE void that must be filled. In my search and perfect for the theme of LAGOON, I came across Tory Burch’s espadrille known as the Stephanie. I love the pattern on this shoe and the natural nature of it as well. Available on Bluefly (love that you can pull up pieces by category and also color), this is a great way to send some love to your closet and to keep it fresh!
