A great outfit is a combination of various elements but at the end of the day, it comes to style and mainly time and place. We each have our own style whether you go retro, boho chic or femme. All of these can work with a number of activities that you're heading off to. In the end, it's always about time and place. A top that works well at night may have to have an extra layer or less jewelry so that it can fit within another situation. One of the things that I truly love is when people dress with a number of items together. I love shopping at various boutiques and adding something from Forever 21, with BCBG and then a pair of Jimmy Choos! To prove this point, the tops above are perfect to wear in a number of situations and can be reworked to show whatever style you choose to rock at the moment. In my love of high low fashion (simply meaning items that are either pricey or not that pricey), all of the tops shown today can be found at Mandee ! This goes to show that you never know how an outfit has been completed and that at the end of the day, you're turning heads based on how your brought it together - that's definitely a signature and trend to embrace going into the summer.
No matter how much you have a go to piece or a place where you can always find the perfect item even if that's not what you initially intended to look for. With such confidence at your fingertips, you still want to be surprised or to see your favorite line or boutique take it to the next level. Lately, we have been talking a lot about Forever 21 and it's amazing to know that they're not content to sit back on their success - they have now embraced a contemporary line entitled - Love 21. This portion of the line sets itself apart from its other collections (ie. Heritage 1981, Twelve by Twelve, etc) but having a higher quality fabrication which allows for it to also show its level of sophistication as well. Launching on May 19th, you'll find various pieces to fall in love within including denim and new favorites that are even made from silk and leather!
If this is any indication of what to come - many will continue to see what Forever 21 will take on in terms of dressing its clientele while providing the best quality and design they can at prices their customers have learned to enjoy! Take some time to check out some great pieces for the line which are perfect for work, events and so much more.
If you don't know what Forever 21 is I truly feel bad for you! They're always a store that I pop into and fortunately in NYC, we have quite a few that I can hit up on a Saturday as I complete a variety of looks! Of course when I'm super lazy (or find that my size was no where to be found) I also go online! What do I love about this store/site? There's always something new, they have the super cute tank tops that are $2.50 and I've been able to experiment with certain items in a way that is much easier on my pocket book. In addition, I can't say how many times I have worn a $24.99 dress from them and paired it with my Jimmy Choo heels and Ted Rossi python bag and received a ton of compliments!
As we now hit May officially, we're only days away from consistently warm weather. One of my favorite looks to wear in the summer is a whimsical ensemble. I love super cute tunics that are in various weights of fabrics that when worn over skinny jeans or leggings, make you look amazing! These are perfect for work, going out and more. With so many pieces and with items being a little over or under $20, you can definitely buy quite a few items! So this Friday, we have a gallery of tunics that you should keep your eye on whether you're here in NY as they are in stores in the area (my favorite location is Union Square) or whether you're online! Finally, when it comes to accessible fashion, I like to know that it's not only pocket friendly (which is why in my posts I include various pieces that are within various price ranges from steals to splurge) but more importantly that various people regardless of size can also enjoy various looks as well. Nothing is worse whether you're talking about shoes or a dress and to find that they ran out of your size or that they never had it to begin with. Forever 21 recently launched Faith 21 which ensures that plus sized women can also enjoy fab finds and amazing fashion as well! Definitely check this out as well.
I never liked carrying an additional bag before I came to NY. I somehow found a way to bring everything in one bag. Now I always have a bag to tote around items and many times I want a cute bag like the ones above when I'm out and about (I'll opt for it in lieu of having my purse during the summers)! This week, we have focused on various eco options that are available and since today is officially Earth Day, why stop when you're on a roll?
Today, I was inspired my boyfriend, Paul (and Food Editor on this site), who wondered how he could get his hands on an eco bag! Being a former surfer, one who enjoys the ocean and someone who believes in Farmer's Markets - I thought I would help him out! In addition, yesterday, I was in Forever 21 and saw the 'Go Green Tote'. I love that whether you're at Forever 21 or Whole Foods, there are extremely affordable totes that help you save the Earth (oh yes your $1 goes far) and in many cases, you can get a discount of sorts at various stores for reusing your bags! Of course, there are various companies making totes that are nearly $100 as well so there are tons of options. I should have purchased the Go Green Tote; however, I have to say that my favorite is the Cindy Kirk Recycle Pattern Green bag that is available on Piperlime.
If you have heard me talk about style Audrey always pops into my conversation. I love that she always looked amazing and dressed for anything without looking like she had a team of stylists that complicated her look! As much as I love her look, I do think it's important to put your own spin on it. I created a look that I would wear (when I'm not in jeans, a tank and flip flops) which is perfect to run around and also to go out. To keep it sensible, I love the fact that you can have a ballet shoe or a great heel! The best way to increase your closet is to think of the subtle ways that you can make it versatile! Here it is as if you have two completely different looks. Whether you add a belt, cocktail ring (I love wearing them with everything), a necklace and a cute bag - you'll definitely stand out while looking like a glamazon!
Yes the economy has everyone rethinking items but at the same time, if you feel you have a little something there are a lot of options out there! With deals being thrown at us from every direction, you can get amazing items at a fraction of the price and it's not even Christmas yet! Of course the benefit for us puts a huge squeeze on the retailers themselves but it's a difficult situation and in order for them to put new merchandise out, they need to get what's on the floor moving. No one knows more about moving product like Forever 21 who announced yesterday that they would open a location on 1540 Broadway - um yeah Times Square! With 100,000 square feet, that's not only a lot of people but it's a huge amount of inventory. I love popping into my local Forever 21 and am usually there for an hour as you really need to see everything before settling in but how long will it take to go through this one? Check out great finds at Forever 21 and make sure to read your papers to see what deals are being offered at many of your favorite stores!
