The past few weeks have allowed me to be inside a lot more than normal. Not only do I get a lot of work done but I am also able to play with a number of items that have come my way! Within the scrub category, I'm a huge fan of Archipelago Sugar Body Scrub for the body in the grapefruit scent! As we're heading into the winter, I love having this great scent as citrus is perfect to get you moving. It's all about keeping your skin soft and refreshed! Many times, people think that since we start wearing a lot of layers, you can leave you can relax your skin routine. As someone who travels a lot, you never know whether you have a segment or an impromptu trip. Continuing to pamper your skin even when it's the "off season" keeps you ready for anything as well as not having to do the massive upkeep when it's "body season". Another scrub that's a must - Fresh Sugar Lip Polish. This is something that you can do when you're staying in and plan on doing a spa day or when you have an extra 20 minutes! When your lips look fabulous, pop on this fun lipgloss from Flirt which comes in a number of hues and you can wear alone or layered with another color.
Taking a shower becomes fun again with Lush and their new product - Fun! Fun can be used to wash your hair, your body in the shower, to make bubbles in the tub AND you can mold it to play with it! What I love most is that there are a number of colors and fragrances and it's easy to break a piece off to use it.
Finally, I love getting my pedicures but there are times when I like to do it at home as it's relaxing or I may not have time to go to my favorite salon. Growing up, I had a footbath that I was in love with and then I moved on to a foot tub. Lately, I have not found a good tub or foot bath but I saw this Heel to Toe Heel To Toe's inflatable pedi bath! At the very least, it's a great novelty!
It's definitely a trend for brands to create products based on gender. Now Paul loves using whatever I use and it's actually tough to get him to use his own products as he loves the smells of my products. Above includes a few items that he does like that are within the men's category and items that I would like for him to try.
I have been a Dove girl since high school when it comes to me deodorants. So I was super glad to see that we have a number of men's Dove producst for him. I like that in terms of simplifying, some guys may like that they have a body wash for the body as well as the face. Personally, I like to use separate products but can see how this would be a time saver. In addition I love this two sided shower tool by them that has a sponge on one side and a loofah on the other! When it comes to lotion, I'm a huge fan of Palmer's Cocoa Butter. I definitely want to see about having this for Paul as he he likes the smell and this lotion will definitely keep his skin soft. Jack Black is a men's line that actually has a number of lip balms that I obsess over and this face moisturizer is the perfect item for your guy no matter the season. To keep a great smell, I suggest this John Varvatos limited edition cologne. When traveling he can put everything in this Burberry toiletry bag!
When it comes to my go to holiday look, I don't mind being a bit more bold then I normally would! I'm all about subtle hues for sure when it comes to my face but I love a bold eye. Here are some of my personal faves that I don't leave without and always have in my bag especially during the holiday season in case I need to spruce up quickly! Besides using my new found fave foundation from Dior as a base which hydrates my skin, I either use my 24/7 Urban Decay Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Kohl but my backup is also Sephora's kohl pencil as I like having a powerful black eye. With eyeshadow, you can't go wrong with Givenchy which has a number of fun hues that you can wear alone or can pair with one another to make a fabulous smoky eye. I believe you can't look amazing without bronzer - it doesn't matter what the temperature is, it's a necessity and gives you that natural glow so Lancome's compact is a great one although I love using a number of them but tend to stick to Laura Geller's Baked versions. Lips in a natural hue always look stunning and refreshed and Guerlain has a number of lipglosses that are a must. I have been known to mix 2 - 3 glosses together to create my signature hue! Dior's mascara is a must for me and whether I mix it in a cocktail (meaning placing other mascaras in if it's a huge night out or a shoot) or alone, my lashes would not leave the house for a night out without it! Finally, stay fresh with Coach's rollerball which comes in a duo scent and has my favorite half - Poppy!
I'm not one for one piece bikinis usually; however, Norma Kamali was influenced by Parisian style of the 30's and made the Bill swimsuit in 1976! This bikini has been apart of her collections and was worn by Cynthia Nixon's character, Miranda, on Sex and the City - the movie, has been included in a number of shoots over the past decades and is one of those items that are a must to have in the closet! What I love the most about this look is the ruching and although it is Parisian inspired, I also get a bit of that old Hollywood feel about it as well! With a classic look, whether you're wearing this to the beach or a private pool party, you don't need much to make this look phenomenal. So I wanted to share items that come along with me when I'm out! Last year, Norma Kamali took this classic Bill style and made a $98 version of it which is available exclusively at her flagship store in NYC (love that I live 2 mins from there) and online. To celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the suit at this price point (which is available in a number of colors and is shown above in Steel), she is giving away 4 suits this month in July on her Facebook, Foursquare, Tumblr and Twitter pages!
Bring Coach Poppy's Rollerball which will keep your refreshed. As it gets hotter, I never travel without my Evian as it's the perfect spritzer to the face and good to use when you're setting your makeup! It's always about the eyes so rock Mark's Liquid Waterproof Eyeliner as your eyes should always pop. Finish it off with a SPF nourishing lipgloss from Rimmel London!
Princesses need their space to reflect the peace and serenity that we so need in our lives! Today, I'm inspired by icecream and the soft tones that we think of when it comes to this sweet and creamy treat. I'm loving this comfy chair and imagine it being in a room with white furniture. Of course, there is nothing better then enjoying your treat as you also have an amazing fragrance wafting through your room of zen! What a great way to bring summer in and even when it's the fall, it's nice to have that girlie vibe within your home! Take some time to check out some of our fab finds from Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn and Volupsa!
Everyday you get the opportunity to see things that I love but I felt that it was time to also bring together some of my favorite bloggers and influencers by introducing items within themes! From that second, Kimmie's Gimmies was born and since we're all thinking of warmer weather we're kicking off our Spring Break theme which starts next week by having an intimate group of fellow bloggers to see my pics in terms of my favorite place as well as items that are perfect for Spring Break! I rounded up Shyema of Beauty and the Feast, Dorian of Big Apple Style, Kitty of Kitty Bradshaw, Makeda of Glamazon Diaries, Lorna of The Fabulous Report, Shoshi of Modern Day Courtesan Magazine and NY Near Say, Christine of Tineey, Charu of Butterfly Diary and Shaunequa of Temple of Glam.
We arrived at Polished Beauty Bar on the UWS to get fab manis which is the perfect way to begin thinking about Spring Break. Obviously, I went to my stand by - Zoya's Indigo which is the perfect shade and everyone picked their fave colors! While we were getting pampered, we were able to not only get to know each other but owner and Celebrity Stylist of the salon, Susan Nam shared stories of shoots that she had been apart of and other fun facts. In addition, we were visited by one of our sponsors - Lush (on the UWS) so fun and who doesn't love it! Once we were perfectly polished, Susan shared how we can stay summer ready with our nails and explained what will keep our manis intact. With all that info, we had to delve into my top pics that were stuffed inside our fab bag!
I'm so excited to have had phenomenal sponsors including Polished Beauty Bar of course - CND (not only did they provide items from their effects line but they included Jason Wu's new colors that he did in collaboration with the brand - not available in stores until next month!), Zoya products, fragrances by Natori, Queen Latifah, Jessica Simpson, Gabriel Organics, a fab pop of color with Skagen Denmark, Monet Jewelry, Batiste Hair (dry shampoo which made Shyema excited), Lush Cosmetics, MD Solar Scienes and Amala! Take some time to check out images from this event as well as the fun video!
A huge thank you to all of our partners that made this event a success! Next month we have an amazing make up event to help you get that amazing look for all of your cocktail parties as well as in June having a fun dinner party! Kimmie's Gimmies will always be themed letting you know what's amazing and what you should be including!
There will be updates to this post with links of other attendees coverage!
Although I personally will not get a tattoo, there is something about the designs that catch my eye. With the success of tattoo shows, it's found its way into fashion as well as with beauty. Who wouldn't love this packaging in their bags? If a tattoo is all about style and showing a bit of yourself then the selection above includes Inky which focuses on your personality being matched to a scent, Kat Von D who did an amazing beauty collection enhancing your body with ink and concealing when you feel necessary, Amika has amazing product that curl your lashes and straighten your hair that are adorned with art and who can pass up anything by Tokidoki?
Whether you're naturally an island babe or you find safe ways to be amazingly bronzed, we all love that sunkissed look one way or another! Today's roundup includes Ellen Tracy's Bronze Fragrance (which they also have a body lotion that is phenom), a fab bronzer stick available at NARS Body Glow which makes all skin types look rich and phenomenal as well as Flirt!'s Totally Bronze Style Box. I love the options that we have to look amazing and golden regardless of the hues we opt to rock! We kick of Spring Break on our site for an entire month in April which leads the way to summer. Begin thinking of how you will bring in your own goddess look!
All that gliiters is Swarovski. I have had an obsession with this since early 2000 and if I could encrust everything with these stones, you would definitely see me coming and going. Today's post is throwing love to these stones and to your vanity. Thinking about what a Swarovski world would be like is so much easier when you have Judith Leiber's perfume sitting on your stand! Night has an intense scent with oriental notes in it. It's for that glammed up evening where you will embody bergamot, black cinnamon (so decadent), spices, flowers, carmelized amber, patchouli and more. Even when it's not in use, you can enjoy the appearance of this Art Deco design which makes you feel like it's a super cute clutch.
To have this phenomenal bottle, just imaging upgrading your Tweezers (for those that do this although I am an eye threading girl). Who doesn't love fab stones decking out this tool and of course, Hello Kitty is always welcome in whatever I am doing but how cute is this Swarovski Crystal hand mirror that's pink and fabulous? It's the little things that make me super happy and this is definitely a nice way to add a wow factor before you even head out the door.
Christian Dior said that he wanted "to make me a fragrance that smells like love". When the Couturier thought of Miss Dior in 1947, he imagined one that was witty and elegant and had an intensity about them - this was the concept behind his muse. Fast forward to current day, we can all agree that Natalie Portman is a fab face as the new Miss Dior Cherie. Coming off her phenom Oscar win for Best Actress in Black Swan, we love seeing her looking fabulous and chic while having that intensity that would have drawn Mr Dior to her from her presence as well as her stunning career. She maintains all of this while being an extremely feminine presence. The new scent embodies youth, love and whimsy with strong character. Enjoy the video and what coverage of this new scent would be complete without seeing how amazing she looks perched on the couch. In addition, there is a mini site that you will enjoy for Miss Dior Cherie as well.
Usually when I'm thinking about Citron, I tend to refer to my favorite hues that I love to integrate into my wardrobe. There is something about these colors that make everything warm and so springy! But today, it's all about Citron being used in beauty and we're loving Crabtree & Evelyn's use of it! They have entire system that you can use from top to bottom. Above are some of my favorite components. The shower gel is a nice way to wake up your body as it has an amazing fragrance (they also have a phenomenal scrub as I am a big believer in exfoliating). In addition to starting off the day with a fab wash, it's all about sealing in nutrients. The lotion has amazing coverage and it's always nice to have another layer of amazing Citron. For additional nutrients, you should also use the body souffle which is very decadent. As you're done with your daily routine, you can't forget about keeping a few key items on hand. I definitely suggest, their lip butter which makes your lips unbelievably soft. Of course, anyone who knows me knows that I am all about having soft hands so of course, you'll want to carry around their hand therapy which is absolute perfection!
This year I have brought in a number of products that have become apart of my daily routine! For one, I am a huge fan of Poppy, a fab fragrance from Coach! Yes I know it's meant for the summer but I have enjoyed wearing it in the fall and apparently it is a super magnet as well! I love Jack Black's lip balms and although I am a huge fan of their Black Tea, I sadly lost it and started using Grapefruit and then Mint. All three are new favorites for me. Laura Geller has been a fan of mine for the past two years. It looks amazing on the cheekbones and across the t-zone areas. Finally, I love the Green Tea and Cucumber lotion which smells amazing and is such a calming effect for your skin. Together this is apart of the overall beauty routine that I am obsessed with!
Notes from Paris is a series of posts from Valerie Nahmias, Beauty Editor of Femina Magazine in Paris. Brought together by our mutual friend and fashion photographer, Franco Lacosta, her posts will be featured each month bringing us her insights on beauty from products to fabulous tips! Last time, Valerie talked about the focus of Gucci by Gucci Sport! Today she lets us how the Rochas House went through a refreshing phase for it's 40th.
Nothing will be more enchanting than to wear the first interpretation of Eau de Rochas this summer…
Did the mythical fragrance needs an interpretation? No. But she celebrates her 40 years this year and the Rochas House saw here a delicious opportunity to refresh her scent. They asked the great perfumer Jean-Michel Duriez to revisits the sublime essence.
What's more normal than to cool this lady quarantenaire? Every year, every summer the hot season inspires the brands to compose younger sisters to their most beautiful smells. Except The Chanel's First Water – Eau Premiere de Chanel, very alluring and bright performance of the N° 5, the tries are often missed.
But here, Jean Michel takes us to the big blue Mediterranean sea. The flavor explode tonic notes of bergamot orange and lemon, and we inhale the chic of the blue iris's root. The aroma of green tall grass comes just after, cut in summer and dried in the fresh air, to make us feel sensual and alive. Beautiful.
Eau of Rochas Fraîche, Rochas, 42 € 50ml
Valerie is the Beauty Editor of Paris' Femina Magazine and it's blog Redaction Beaute and has spent her years in the fashion/beauty industry. She was an assistant at French Elle Magazine for Carine Roitfeld (who is now French Vogue's Editor in Chief) and wrote the book, Pour Etre Belle.
Last week I presented the question of whether everyday could be Poppy, if you missed it then you need to check back to find out about Coach's Poppy Fragrance collection. Now in addition to this amazing launch of Poppy's first fragrance, I'm super excited to be apart of Coach's MYNY Poppy campaign launch for fall! For those that are not familiar with Poppy, this is a fun fresh line that came out last year! How excited am I to show you guys the two images that I shot for the brand? I am always inspired by 70's elements, Audrey Hepburn and Barbie (don't ask) and I think these inspirations tie into both of these looks and yes I would definitely spritz a little Poppy to add to that whimsical but sexy sense of style. I have to say that I fell in love with the pieces that I wore because this collection has elements that you can still wear to the Hamptons, South Beach (my little oasis), etc - it's the perfect summer look! But I'm also excited about the fact that they have fab pieces for the Fall that will be perfect for brunches, crisp walks, Fashion Week and so much more. The only items that were missing in my looks were a fab pair of sunglasses as it's a great way to add an instant change to your overall look!
In the summer I love having a bit of that Boho Chic meets Miami so it's all about light and airy colors! A great way to add pop into the outfit are those nice goddess like qualities such as fab sandals. The Poppy Leather Glam Tote in Gold is beyond phenomenal and I do plan on wearing it to a blogger trip that I will take next month to SoBe, imagine having it at the Delano sitting poolside. It's roomy and fun and whatever the weather happens to be, the sun is always coming from you! I also love the Poppy Lightening Bolt Necklace which has Swarovski Crystals that are afixed to a black thunderbolt. Fun and edgy and works well in the fall as well. I love that this works well whether I'm in NYC or jetsetting!
Now I also received the fab Tyler Moto Jacket in Bordeaux is so chic, I love the Farah Fawcet feeling I had as soon as I put this jacket on! I am all about super cute heels (yes my little Jimmy Choos), a great pair of skinny heels, a tank and an awesome jacket which has fab zipper embellishments! This is something that can really work with my wardrobe and can travel well! Let me just say that when I opened the bag the jacket came in, it was definitely super luxe!
I'm so glad to be apart of this fun campaign and seeing that this is the second time that we have been apart of Coach's fab collaborations I'm excited to see the new collection and to introduce it to you! Also check out Coach's MYNY campaign which can be accessed at the "New at Coach" tab under the MYNY link so that you can see the other amazing bloggers that styled pieces from this collection! Who doesn't love tips on what they should be purchasing this fall season?
Whether you're hanging out at home, going to the Pride parade or who knows what it's super hot out. You should definitely stay hydrated and I love that no matter how many times that you refill this cup, you can reuse it! In addition, make your ice cubes fun but making them into shapes whether you fill it with water or some other tasty treat! Staying at home? How about getting a platter of nibbles that you can enjoy throughout the day. If you're going to be in and out or others are coming over, you know that you can smell the heat of people which isn't a pleasant smell. Find a fragrance that works for you and keep that going in your home so the outside stays out! How do you guys beat the heat and make it tolerable?
No seriously can't everyday be Poppy? So let's back track a little. We're all aware of Coach as it's something that we have grown up with but what we think we know about Coach isn't all inclusive. It's a brand that continues to take on new dimensions. This was definitely clear to me when last year they reached out to me to be apart of the Coach Holiday Blog a Day campaign where each day within 30 days was featured on their site styling their Holiday Collection and of course we had the fab giveaway! So now bringing it to the present, we have Poppy this quirky, girlie collection that's definitely Coach but with a fun twist! You've seen me cover various tote bags from them and I was honored to be selected to do some fun things with their fall collection which I will let you know about when it launches but it is soon!
So with the fall project for Coach Poppy with the leathergoods, I felt totally immersed in Poppy when I went to the launch of their fragrance for Poppy which is available in stores on July 1st! We were invited this past Tues to the Rescue Beauty Lounge in the Meat Packing District which was decorated with not only the bottles of the product but also fun punchy colors and sequin pillows. We really delved into the Poppy fragrance by learning about the notes that were involved to create a scent that was classic but also had this juicy, airy and fun quality to it. The Poppy girl is that fun girl about time who has a fun quirky sensibility that makes you want to be around her. It's a scent that's all its own and has definitely taken a prominent placement on my shelf! in a few words spritzing some on you have released cucumber flower, mandarin, freesia, jasmine, lily, creme brulee, cedarwood, sandalwood and wait for it - marshmallow. This has the sophistication of Coach while also having fruity and floral elements that make it all its own.
After the presentation of the brand the Poppy love continued. Upon entering, I sipped on a Ginger and Prosecco beverage but now that it was lunch and the other half of the girls were getting their treatments, we had the chance to enjoy cucumber sandwiches, salmon sandwiches, a lobster salad with mango and hearts of palm - all very tasty and perfect to be in this fabulous space. It also gave us a chance to talk to other bloggers (Aly and Kristin) as well as the publicists from the brand, fragrance end and more.
Now when it was my turn, the Rescue Beauty Lounge is a fabulous space of zen and even when you get your treatments there are little pods where four people can sit so if you and your besties want to do this together you feel like you have your own little section to go over the day. Even our mani/pedis had the Poppy spirit! I enjoyed the Poppy Mandarin manicure (I loved Sheer Nude which is from Rescue Beauty Lounge's line) which was inspired by the fragrance's juice mandarin notes and finished with a touch of Poppy scent. The Poppy Cucumber Pedicure (I loved Black Noir which is one Rescue Beauty Lounge's hues) was inspired by the fragrance’s bright cucumber flower notes and finished with a touch of Poppy scent as well. The treatments were phenomenal and it was truly a luxurious feeling. It was amazing to smell all of this poppy and I loved the cute Coach flip flops we received to show off our pedis. Afterwards it was just fun to chat as we were at the event for four hours! Above is an image of the fab goodie bag! You'll see the Coach Fragrance which is in a cute little box, the rollerball fragrance for your purse, the lotion which is beyond smooth, the cosmetic bag which is apart of the Poppy collection for fall and finally a bracelet in purple from the Poppy Collection as well. It was an amazing way to spend the day and yes life should be infused with Poppy!
We go through a lot of candles here and it's not just me trying to get them lit. My boyfriend is a huge fan of them and is always asking for more. On a day like today, there's even more of a reason to light one up and to allow the sweet fragrance to hit the room. Take a look at some of my favorites and stock up for when the need arises!
This morning I woke up and although I'm seeing Alice in Wonderland which is a dream like movie, I feel I just spent 2 hours of last night walking in my dreams. I was invited to the home of Josie Natori who has been an icon for me within the intimates world. Rolling back the tape, for those that don't know - I started in the fashion industry as an intimates model. I remember seeing her brand at trade shows and various boutiques. I loved her robes which made me feel like I was in luxury and to be invited to her home, I couldn't stop the goosebumps!
Josie was so welcoming last night and although I met her a few months ago at another event, I was so excited to step into her world and equally excited that she was thrilled to learn about all of us who use Twitter, our blogs and so much more. I had no idea that she played the piano and for those of you that follow me on Twitter, you got to see that. We were introduced to a peek into some of the pieces from her Essential collection which were amazing! I love her outfit above as this is definitely 2 pieces that I would love to have in my closet. Speaking of closets, I was so overwhelmed to see a closet that was even better than the one that was created for Carrie in Sex and the City, It was opulent, minimalist and AMAZING. She had bags from her collection that you can't even find anymore (Josie let us know that we could expect to see bags in her collection again). The images in her closet will be engraved in our mind as I would never take pictures of someone's closet as that's a secret place but I literally lost my breath taking it in. In addition, I smelled the Natori fragrance and I have to say, that as much as I love Chanel No 5 - I do believe that I am replacing my signature scent!
This week has been a whirlwind with various projects that I'm tackling, attending events and preparing for my huge meeting with Style Network. It was so nice to have that 2 hour zen period and to get to know more about Josie and all of her essentials.
I am such a Chanel No 5 fan - it's a classic scent and my personal favorite! If I wear perfume, it tends to be that one. Last year I was introduced to Euphoria Blossom which is definitely a fun scent and I thought at this point, that I was pretty well rounded in my choices of scents. Months ago I had received a sample of John Varvatos for her and although I loved the shape of the mini bottle, I didn't have the need to try it on. This morning in a crazy rush to grab samples and get out of the house, I grabbed it and put it on. The initial shock was wondering where I had placed my tried and true scents and the second - this was a great perfume! I love that it has a rich floral smell; however, it isn't overwhelming. It definitely has classic notes to it and a slight hint of a woody scent which is very mysterious! I would definitely run to your nearest Sephora to pick up this fragrance or to visit John Varvatos' site to see what other scents he has to offer. If you're looking for something nice, you might consider (for him obviously) Artisan which is perfect for the guy who loves a crisp scent and also values craftsmanship.
When we think about the classics, we think about music and movies but what about perfumes? I love Burberry Tender Touch and am currently wearing Calvin Klein's Blossom Euphoria but the classics can't be denied! I remember growing up loving my mom's Oscar de la Renta perfume that came in a gorgeous bottle and had the most amazing scent. Sometimes I would open it just to sniff it if she was out and about. I remember that I happened to find it right before my prom in the back of her closet and realized that the scent was even better (hmm the aging of fragrqance). I felt so amazing wearing this classic scent. My fave classic is Chanel No 5. I love that it's crisp I can wear it for an appointment, to go out, etc. I got it as a gift a couple of years ago and I always make sure that I have it. The other day someone smelled it and said "an oldie but a goodie". Do you guys have any scents that are "old school" but that you love and could never be without?
Last night I went to the Millenium Hotel's Hudson Theater to attend the Modern Romance Bridal Event. Now before anyone starts spreading stories, I am not engaged nor does that seem on the immediate horizon; however, I know it will happen one day and I am a fan of various Bridal shows and in lieu of hearing from people on Twitter, those I have lunch with and more announcing their engagements, I felt that this was something that I wanted to know about. Now I have attended many bridal events which are bona fide tradeshows where there are booths of the same types of services that are run by various companies, I would find this very overwhelming and difficult in terms of just focusing on the moment,. I wasn't sure what I was walking into but I was very intrigued to not only attend the event but to also see the Jenny Yoo Collection which I am familiar with many of her dresses.
Upon entering, I knew that this wouldn't be a massive and impersonal show.. For $25, brides were able to come to the event with a guest and to sample various foods, beverages and an extremely select group of vendors from entertainment, spa, makeup and more. The best part, this was extremely intimate! There weren't large groups of people the entryway of the theater (which at one time had actually housed various Broadway productions prior to their purchase of the Millenium Hotel next door) allowed everyone to check in, receive their goodie bag and to meet with the vendors. This space was illuminated with lighting and large mirrors. I know I began thinking about having an event here as the mood was definitely in place. As you walked into the theater, you were welcomed with tasty sweets on the right and on the left various meats and appetizers. Both sides had bartenders and of course there were passed beverages and drinks as well. I was very pleased to enjoy the champagne. The theater not only had tables set in various motifs that were created by James Abel Events (I love the amber inspired table), but there was seating for the fashion show and on the stage the band played. This was very soothing and kudos to the organizers to hold the event from 6:00 - 9:30. Although the fashion show didn't start until nearly 8:00, it was nice to come early and to have ample time to talk to the vendors while also recognizing that some brides would be unable to come until later.
Most of the attendees had a guest with them (kudos to the fiancees that appeared) although I felt bad for those that were alone as this was definitely an event to begin honing in on the decisions of your wedding while also enjoying the atmosphere. Mental note: these events are the best to go to and I would prefer to not go alone - friends and family beware!
I could go on and on about each vendor but I focused on certain areas but if you have a question, you can contact me and I can pass on what I know/heard. Jo Malone attended this event and as I have always been a fan and tend to walk by their Flatiron location, I was pleased to learn that they have an interesting way of offering their services. Obviously, they are available to have the bride and their party come to their location to enjoy their services and they are also able to travel as well. This is a great way to get pampered and to enjoy one another's time. But the most interesting element that I enjoyed was learning about their Fragrance Combining. This service is where the bride chooses a particular scent that will be worn for the wedding and then her bridesmaids will have various notes of this scent with other items layered in. In this way, the bride has a signature scent and her bridal party has elements of it while being different from hers. She doesn't have to worry about competing or offending scents as it is complimentary. I loved this concept and was so pleased that the two ladies attending this booth were so knowledgeable about this. Pampering and a signature scent - fabulous.
This event also had a great blend between traditional versus having your own element within your wedding. The band played traditional songs such as "Just the Way You Look Tonight", "Night & Day", "What's Going On", while also putting in a Stevie Wonder song that had elements of Will Smith in the song. They were not only playful and welcoming but they showed their range as we listened to the different songs and heard from the male and female singers respectively. This was enjoyable as we had Tuna Tartar, Spicy Shrimp and more.
Prior to the fashion show, I was able to see Tarte Cosmetics offerings, Cake Alchemy, Jerry Kravat Entertainment and more. Our hostess for the night who I thought was very warm and shared many of her experiences as she had recently been married, introduced the Fred Astaire Dance Studio. This couple did two dances (shown in the video) with a traditional dance and then one that was a salsa for the first dance. Once this was completed, we were treated to the Jenny Yoo Collection which had wedding gowns and then vibrant hues for bridesmaids dresses. These are definitely not the dresses that I have seen in Bridezilla epidsodes where the adventurous bride strives to find the most questionable dresses. These are beautiful gowns that you could use for other dressy occassions and that are very flattering whether you're looking for long, short, strapless, halter and more. Of course no fashion show of dresses would be complete without showing the super cute flower girl!
I left this event thinking that there are no shortage of events that "assist" brides and their friends and families with the options available to them. But when it is my turn, I want to attend events such as this that have a select group of vendors, a small number of attendees and then having a staff that caters to everyone so that you can feel special leading up to your day.
Today we are taking a bit of a breather since the week has been so busy! So instead of mentioning great places to get a drink or a way to make a new one, we want you to relax a bit and have something a little fragrant that you can enjoy in whichever way you decide to spend today! With notes of White Tea and Pink Peppercorn, there are definitely sweet smells to be had with the Hard Candy Fragrance and because of this, it was a natural choice in terms of our weeklong giveaway where 4 lucky winners will get to try this out for their very own!
Congratulations Dorian, Kam, Jennae and Michelle! I will definitely contact you individually but loved hearing about your favorite scents. It's amazing how many we go through and which ones we love no matter what. With that being said, I hope this is one that you will make a fave in your cabinets!
We buy various pieces based on the Steal vs Splurge factor. There are some things that we refuse to pay a bundle for and there are others that we tell ourselves are a necessary luxury. This beautiful perfume, Imperial Majesty, was officially certified as the Guinness Book of World's Record's most "World's Most Expensive Perfume". Ar a mere $200,000, you can go to Saks 5th Ave and pick one up to add to your favorite scents! Clive Christian, the perfumer is the proud parent of this very luxe scent. This is an amazing label and will definitely be interesting to see the response generated from this very distinct perfume. I must say that the bottle and it's luxurious case definitely lends itself to it's new standing when being compared to other perfumes. I do believe that viewing this for those who are in to their scents, will be as enticing as seeing some of the cities most recognized features!
