Today is Saturday, November 21, 2009
Happy November! I hope everyone had an amazing time last night whether you were in costume or not. Today marks one of the initial benchmarks of the holiday season. I know we all send a million emails and we use Social Media but I feel that when it comes to Birthday Cards and Holiday Cards, you need to make it from you. This means that I go to my favorite card store Papyrus and I spend a bit finding the best cards possible! I love making sure that I write something personal to each one! My selection incorporates Christmas, Chanukah and Holiday cards. Above are some of my favorite selections and you can get them online if you don't have the option to go to one of the stores.
Start early by finding your perfect cards. During the summer/early fall I like to write out my entire list of people who will receive a card. This way I know how many people I need to get a card for and how many types of cards I need to get. As I continue to meet people once I have a list, I make sure to add it to my list. What I love about Papyrus (especially if you have one of the stores in your town), you can walk by their windows and see what sales they have. Many times, they have a "Buy 2 Boxed Cards and Get a Third Free". Deals like this will help you out. When possible, I deliver cards by hand; however, many times I start sending them at the end of Nov to ensure that the cards have been sent out - it's a process but one that will make you feel amazing and the added benefit - getting a card in return!
It's so hard! When the weather starts getting chilly but I'm watching shows like the Hills, I wonder why I couldn't have decided to move to LA as opposed to being in NYC. But then I remember that NY is someplace that I could never be away from and if cold is the tradeoff, then I would need to just deal with it! The good news is, I'm able to travel so I never have to stay in the cold for too long. Thinking of LA makes me remember that I have plans to visit later on this year or as late as Feb and I love the idea of mixing an element of summer with a bit of fall. I'm obsessed with kimono outfits (yesterday I was wearing a kimono top over a pair of jeans) but if I were out an about in LA, I would love this simple Kimono jumper by Joie paired with these booties. I love that they're suede and have a bit of rocker detail. To add to that, the cuff of metal feathers is the perfect compliment and today, I'm including a Mother of Pearl, snail shell, Agate piece from my jewelry line, Kitten Couture!
I could imagine this on a day meeting with showrooms to talk about new collections, meeting with friends, heading out to dinner and more! Just looking at this look makes me want to start planning trips to leave the impending cold! Even if you're not heading anywhere, these are great pieces to begin including within your closet or at the very least, you'll want to click within the spread and check out the fab brands! For those that are fan of Kitten Couture, contact me as I have a special promo that you can use from now to the end of the month to add a little spice into your jewelry collection!
Oh man! I’m beginning and ending my summer with a bang! We’re kicking it off with a Lobster Broil at the house and we will end the summer with a big bash – my 30th birthday in South Beach at my favorite hotel, Loews! Oh yes this is going to be an amazing summer (I’ll totally bypass the fact that we have had quite a bit of rain). So with that said, how do I dress for a party that’s at home with friends that begins early and goes to the wee hours of the morning? I’m all about the maxi dress – it’s stylish and comfortable and gives you so many possibilities whether you go with bold colors, stripes, etc. I love this dress and it’s available at Victoria’s Secret (another one of my favorites for day wear). With this bold color and simple look, I’m able to add my accessories to really let me stand out as the hostess of the party.
With the high neck, I love a simple choker, such as Christofle's 925 piece available on Vivre, that doesn’t fight with my look and yet doesn’t make my neck look completely naked. I love Max & Chloe's large cuff and this hammered one is perfect to add a bit of the earthy vibe and of course the ring – you know I love a pop of color! Elizabeth Ngo's Large Ornate Victorian Glass Ring in Turquoise adds a mixture of various eras from Victorian, Grecian, etc.The maxi is the way to go and you can find one that’s perfect for you in various price points. A lobster broil in Long Island and the love of the beach, this is a great way for me to show all of that with this simple look!
Yes it's cold out there and although we haven't gotten through the worse part, I love the fact that Spring is around the corner. Over the next few months I'll be traveling to Orlando, Dominican Republic, South Beach, LA, Chicago and possibly Costa Rica. Except for Chicago, the other locations are all warm weather bound (we also have our crawfish and lobster boil during the summer which will take place at our condo with friends)! I've definitely started to purchase a few dresses that will be perfect for these trips. I love my t-shirt/tank and jeans/yoga pants; however, it's nice to glam it up every now and then! To that end, I have been looking for various pieces that are perfect to wear for drinks, going out dancing, etc.
Last last fall, I had the opportunity to learn about Single Dress! I love that they embody "South Beach style". I love the prints, styles and just the element of resort style. Of course you don't have to wait until you go on vacation to wear these pieces. It's perfect to party at the Meat Packing District, to take up to the Hamptons and more. In addition to super cute dresses, Single Dress and its various collections can also be worn with your favorite jeans and shoes as well. Take some time to check out more from this line and to see what looks the celebs have worn as well.
First, I can't believe the holiday season is over and that I will have to remind myself to include 2009 when I am writing out the date! That always takes me the first month to get used to it without having to think about it! You never know where the night will take you! I just came back from ending my celebration of NYE! The interesting part, I am not hungover which is fab and I had a great time! Once getting back into the city, we had dinner, went out to do some partying and since the friends we were staying with live in a building with a lot of people they know, it was fun knocking on the doors and spreading the cheer! By the time we settled in, we all chatted, watched TV and fell asleep. But nothing kicks off the new year like pancakes, mimosas, Rose Bowl Parade and the Gator Bowl! So now that Paul and I are at home, we're just settling in which is perfect for relaxing and getting plans into action! There is much to do and I can't wait to share all the goodies with you!
Happy Harvest everyone! There are three months left of the year and this is definitely a great time. Kitten Lounge is officially a year old today and it has been an amazing time with all the coverage and we have so many goodies which we will let you guys know more about. But on to a very serious issue! As summer ended, I came face to face with a hard reality - I didn't have a fall bag! Even more gasp worthy is that I switched back to last fall's bag until I found the right one. Being someone that loves my handbags and is an accessory queen, this move was met with mixed emotion - I definitely want to sport a new find but I am pleased that I have an eye for things that are timeless. So when I found out about Ellie Handbags and her fall/winter collection, I started wishing that I could get one of these bags in an instant.
Ellie Schwimmer Carotti (yes that would be David Schwimmer's sister) is a trendsetter, so much so that her line brings the trends of Italy to her customers here in the states before they are even big here! Who wouldn't want to carry something that will get multiple stares not only because it's fabulous but ahead of its time as well. Ellie Handbags have various skins such as deer, snakeskin and supple leather. Now it's essential with the holiday season right around the corner, that we have all of our accessories in line. Now more than ever it's important that we add a lot of pop into our lives. Ellie knows how to make a fabulous black bag but with the use purple and red which are dominant colors for this season - she knows how to take a classic body and to make it something absoluely drool worthy! Stay ahead of the trends and look at our gallery of our favorite finds from this collection. If you love what you see here, there are plenty more items that you can look at as well that will fit your style well!
I don't know if there is such a thing as Fashion Week Night's Eve but if not, I am making it official! I am so pleased to have every single sponsor that has helped me to be ready for Fashion Week but I must give a shout out to you guys! I am so pleased that for all intensive purposes, Lauren Conrad has dressed me for the entire week! This is not to say that I am not excited about Inhabit NY! I am all about organic and can't wait to share this look with you. Dark Pr, the entire staff has been absoultely amazing and has put me in touch with amazing brands that are making this event that much better. Erika at Nars Cosmetics has made sure that I look very glam and yet true to the way that you would find me when I am out and about. Mistral Soaps is making sure that I start the day smelling amazing so that I can continue from one show to the next. I am so obsessed with this brand and I have to say that they have been amazing in allowing me to sample various items that I can't wait to share with you each day! Fashion Week for better when I had the most relaxing session at Dashing Diva last night! Thank you so much for the mani/pedi which will ensure that I look amazing and thanks for allowing me to get to know you guys - no matter where I am, I can always find time to make my way to the 15th and 3rd Ave location! This is not my first time attending the shows, but it is my first time in doing the coverage and in such a spread out fashion but I can't wait for your feedback and for you to see the amazing videos as well! Finally, via the power of Twitter and just going to events, I am glad to increase my knowledge of those that are in the blogging and related spheres that have become my friends and have helped me to hone my skills and to see beyond my own vision of what I would like to do - I look forward to continue to work and share with you.
Today is a great day no matter the weather or what you're up to! Today is National Girlfriend's Day so you definitely want to make sure that you plan a dinner or grab drinks as there is nothing more important than the bond between girlfriends! Whether you go out or keep it low key, this is something that we should definitely be happy to have! In addition to it being National Girlfriend's Day, I would like to introduce you to a fun game that I recently played and is the perfect thing to play with new friends and those that you have known forever!
When it comes to sisterhood, the real life sister duo Kerri and Patti, wanted to come up with a game that was lots of fun but had women in mind. As a result, they created What's a Dame to Do, a game where situations that have happened to many of us play out with various responses which allow you to see how well you know someone or what a person that you don't know would do in a given situation. I have played this game twice and it's amazing to hear people's responses or to watch them act it out! This is perfect for an icebreaker in college dorms and is also a lot of fun to play when you find a group of girls over your house and you realize there is nothing on TV and you would rather just talk!
I do love that you don't have to read a rule book and that you can just jump in and play What's A Dame to Do. From now until August 6th, you'll receive a 10% discount (enter promo code: GIRLFRIENDS)when purchasing this game in honor of National Girlfriend's Day. In addition, they are looking for the next Dame to be on the visuals which could be you and this game is getting an update which means you can contribute a dilemma or situation as well! I love a relevant game that also gets you a better understanding of people whether you have been best friends for years or you just met! Check out more about this game on What's a Dame to Do and grab your girlfriend's for a great night out and if you're in the area, I'm always interested in playing another round!
Legally Blonde is one of my favorite movies. Some people like to draw parallels and although there may be similarities, the character is pretty genuine and is definitely a friend in deed. Now I have yet to see the Broadway production but I was on the website of my favorite pink nail salon, Dashing Diva, and I noticed something very interesting! They are running a deal that not only can you feel like Ms Woods herself and have a Legally Pink Pedicure (which seems amazing - I love going in every other week to get one done) BUT from now through Sept 7th when purchasing tickets for this production, mention DIVA and you will be able to see this show for a lot less!
Nothing is better than getting pampered Elle style and then seeing Elle in action with her cute pup Bruiser. Although I have yet to get this pedicure, I am such a fan of Dashing Diva and absolutely refuse to go anywhere else unless it's another one of their locations. I am partial to the UES but I love how relaxed and professional the staff is and how you have as much fun alone as you do with friends! Take some time to check out the site and the Legally Pink Pedicure Package and then to complete the whole experience - Legally Pink Special Offer. I may see you at the salon and again at the show!
This weekend is going to be hot and when it's hot - you have to get nibbles and beverages! Think back to previous weekends - maybe you grabbed icecream in the park, had brunch at an outdoor cafe or you enjoyed a back patio with friends. You have to change it up a bit by making sure you head out to the Big Apple BBQ sponsored by Snapple this weekend! I am so excited as The Kitten Lounge will be attending this event! I can't wait to tell you guys some of the hottest places in the city to enjoy BBQ and what cities are definitely bringing it too! Now if you want more than BBQ, you will enjoy yummie sides, dessert and beer! In addition to hanging out in Madison Park with tons of people that will be your jolly new friends, there will be live music and seminars. When you check in this weekend on the Kitten Lounge, I will bring you recaps of what you can enjoy as I will be there on Sat and Sun will have closing thoughts on this 10th annual event. In addition, my Flip will be coming with me as well. To check out the schedule and to see what works for you, make sure you visit their snazzy site! If you were fortunate enough to get your Fast Pass - congrats, I can't wait to try all the amazing items. If not, everything is reasonably priced and waiting - come on an empty stomach and remember to drinks lots of fluids! The inconsistent weather of this week will be worth it to enjoy the sun and heat of the weekend.
It's here! For the past few Saturdays, I have shared with you various vendors that will be participating in this week's Coffee & Tea Festival at the Metropolitan Pavilion. This is a nice weekend to get out of the rain (if we do in fact get this) and to sample some of the beverages that will be available. It's so nice when you have an event when the tea and coffee people can be together and have a great time. I will be there today so if you see me, stop by and say hello! I am so excited to actually attend the event and I will give a recap on what I saw, who was there and what we should be out on the lookout for as well. I even have a few friends that will be stopping by as I am on a quest to spread my love for tea!
First - Happy Valentine's Day! No matter what you're doing today, it should be full of fun and spent with those that give you that! Today I am spending my last night here in Vegas and will be having dinner at David + Burke's which is super exciting. I ate there earlier this week so I will have to try something new. I think that this will be a lot of fun - I can't wait to share a lot of the fun things that went on this week. I must say that with coming off of Fashion Week, meeting many of the good people of Coutorture and now being in Vegas with not only my best friends but friends that I know even better - this is definitely a great way to spend the week. That being said, I wanted to end the series of Valentine's beverages with one of my favorite drinks that I tried as soon as I got these recipes. I will also be having this tonight as I think of one of my new friends who is always down with giving me the recipes that I send out to you - so I am raising a virtual glass to her, my best friend who without him - the trip would not have been possible, my dancing friend and of course the amazing people that I got to know so much better during my trip here: Cupid’s Cherry Jubilee 1 ounce Appleton VX Jamaican Rum 1.5 ounces Cherry Juice 4 ounces Korbel Champagne Fresh coconut shreds Honey Cherry for garnish
Rim a wine glass with honey and roll on coconut shreds. Pour in Appleton, Cherry Juice and then fill with Korbel. Add cherry for garnish.
This is the last week of Restaurant Week! But this is a great time to hang out with friends since Feb will be a busy month. There's no reason to let the end of Jan come without having a great time. Fashion Week, Valentine's Day and vacation are all going on this month and this can be shared over lunch or dinner. With over 200 restaurants participating, there's bound to be a place of interest that you and your friends can go. Check out Open Table to see what time slots work for you. Then make sure that you visit this site anytime you need to make a reservation for this evening or next week!
I love Dos Caminos - I had to say that the first thing that blew me away was their amazing guacomole which is so fresh! Not only did I enjoy that but I also like the Pomagranite and Blueberry Margarita on the Rocks! Dos Caminos has restaurants in various locations. My favorite is definitely the one in Soho; however, you can check out other locations as well. This is perfect to go out with your friends or even a romantic occassion. With so many things on the menu to choose from (I have to say that I LOVE the black and blue tuna and the coconut rice is absolutely amazing). Take some time to check out the site and to think about your reservation here.
We love hearing from you! Suggestions, ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
Please send all food related questions to Paul, spa and wellness items to Keren and all other queries to Kimmie.
