Trendy Thursdays ~ 6 Must Haves For Great Skin

I'm all about having amazing skin as you want to look your best! Whether I'm going to an event, doing an appearance, doing a segment, meeting with brands and my team or having date night - it's all about having great skin! With the warm weather that we've been enjoying (although I know that we still have some chilly weather ahead), it always makes me think about ensuring that the winter skin is definitely nothing but a memory before I enjoy warmer temperatures.

SHOE INSPIRATION

Earlier this week, I rocked a maxi as well as flip flops which was a first for this season here in NYC! It felt amazing and made me think that you always have to prep your skin as early as possible as the weather is unpredictable! I'm a flip flop girl and I began thinking of going through my collection of Colin Stuart flip flops which come in a number of colors and is available at Victoria's Secret. Before you rock shorter skirts and a number of footwear options, it's all about making sure your skin is ready and knowing what your go to's are to get your skin ready as well as to keep up with maintaining it!

GET THE BEAUTY LOOK

Roll over the images above to find out why I am such a fan of these items from Me Smooth, Waxelene, The Body Shop, Molton Brown, Bobbi Brown and my fave - Palmer's. A number of these items have been my go to for a number of years and there are some that are new to me but I think are vital to getting your skin ready for the season and to keep it looking great.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Dragon Beauty

I love that the New Year continues to cycle through as you have New Year's Eve, Ukranian New Years and additional ones that allow all of us to kick off the year with a fresh start and renewed senses. This year, Jan 23rd is Chinese New Year! I have been told that Chinese New Year or the Lunar year spans a number of days and in that light, today and tomorrow we honor this holiday on Kitten Lounge! This year is known as the year of the Dragon and today's beauty post focuses on all beauty products that have that dragon tie in. Some were named to be included within the holiday and to acknowledge it and others include the name and work well with this post simply based on the theme!

Around Kitten Lounge, I have fallen in love with Gianna Rose Atelier Soaps which has year of the dragon soaps in fragrants scents that incorporate a blend of Green Tea, Ginger and Bergamot. This box contains four soaps within in and I love that it is unisex as Paul has embraced these soaps as well! Cartier's Le Baison Du Dragon has a fab ornate bottle that incorporates this theme and as you're running around the streets and ensuring that your face is flawless, Sephora and Hello Kitty present a compact mirror in gold that honors 2012's Year of the Dragon. We always think about our guys when it comes to Jack Black which keeps his lips moist with this Dragon Ice and I love that it pulls double duty as the scents are just as fab for women!

Trendy Thursdays: His Style ~ Beauty Finds

He raids my beauty bounty and of course when new items come to my attention, he is always up to try out the newest thing! But I have to say that over the past few months, I've noticed that he loves the above the most! John Varvatos is his scent of choice as there is something about this strong vintage scent. He loves exfoliating after trying it out on my suggestion, Nude Deep Cleansing Mask keeps his face super soft while ensuring that he's not carrying around a lot of impurities. Recently, I obtained Molton Brown's Paradisiac Pink Pepperpod Bath and Shower which is a refreshing scent with a few woodsy notes in it. Perfect for men and women in my opinion and of course he agrees. Finally, I've been obsessed with Jack Black's line of lip balms and am a huge fan of Black Tea and Blackberry as well as Grapefruit and Ginger. Both scents are also on his list as well!

Sippin Saturdays ~ The Big Weekend

This weekend is a big - the Final Four takes place in my hometown tonight as well as tomorrow being Easter! That means you'll spend a lot of time partying, screaming and then hanging out with friends tomorrow to enjoy a little brunch. Anytime you have a get together, you have to think about what's your cocktail of choice. Lately, I've been all about Bloody Mary's weather I'm having them from brunch OR when I'm watching a game. I have no idea where it started!

Recently Skyy Vodka launched Ginger infused vodka - now if you know me, you know I love anything with Ginger in it. Over the past few weeks I have been drinking this in many ways and this weekend - a Bloody Mary seems perfect. This is definitely a new twist on a classic and super easy to make.

Ginger & Bloody Mary Ann ~Created by Adam Wilson of Beretta San Francisco

2 oz. SKYY Infusions Ginger

4 oz. Tomato Juice

0.5 oz. Lemon Juice

0.5 Tbsp. Salted Capers

1 Tbsp. Bacon Bits

2 Dashes Worcestershire Sauce

Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice. Garnish with pickled green bean.

I love that this beverage has such a salty taste to it but that the Ginger adds the perfect zing to it. This is definitely a great recipe to have on hand! Obviously, there are great variations that can be made on top of this drink. I feel that once you have an amazing recipe, you have to start adding elements of your own. Here, we swap out the pickled green been garnish with a shrimp AND we add Chesapeake Bay Seasoning to the outside of the glass as well. This adds an awesome flavor and once again, makes it our own! Check out more about Ginger Skyy Vodka and other recipes created by their mixologists!

Mingling Mondays: THINK CITRUS ~ Amai Tea & Bakehouse

AmailogoToday's installment of Mingling Mondays brings me to one of my favorite places. Originally, I found out about Amai on a trip to Tavalon Tea Bar on 14th street which has a variety of teas and carries baked goods that are from various bakeries. I had the best Green Tea cookie (since people know that I am such a fan of anything that has this in it). Thankfully, Tavalon Tea Bar provides information about who made such a delicious treat that I Googled it and came across the blog LovesCool. There I found that Kelli, was the owner of Amai and at the time, they were sold at area retailers. I let her know how much I loved her cookies and posted about it on a blog that I ran at that time. I loved that her blog was focused on desserts and I always checked in. Then I found out that Kelli was actually opening her own shop and was so excited that I could get these cookies and more. Amai Tea and Bake House opened late October and they have definitely been on the lips of area residents, celebs and she was also nominated in Time Out NY as well which is amazing.

Amai2
Not only can you visit the shop (which is perfect for mingling) but you can also order the Green Tea Tea Sweet Cookies and additional sweet treats from the site. In terms of THINK CITRUS, the perfect treat would be the Lemon Grass and Ginger. If you buy the tins of cookies, you can reuse the container to store your tea which is perfect (and they are super cute)! Support this talented dessert shop and check out her blog as well.
