Going into fall, you'll see me rocking leggings, blazers and fun tops that are all about being paired with fab accessories. Especially going into Fashion Week, these are basic components that I always gravitate towards. This Elizabeth & James blazer is a great classic that will always look phenom with Topshop's leggings. Then you have a ton of tops that you can mix in - Marc Jacob's shirt is definitely a great way to pop color and texture in. In terms of accessories, you can always find a reason to slide into a pair of Christian Louboutin's - who doesn't love double platform heels with the signature pop of red. I'm loving Iosselliani's horn and multi ombre strand necklace which has the perfect amount of classic, natural edge to it. Finally, Valentino's one of a kind python satchel is a great way to add additional texture and is the ultimate conversation piece.
Today's look is inspired by my trip to DR last month when we were at this phenomenal restaurant that is indoors but also has a large deck. To feel like you were in SoBe when in reality you were in the Caribbean with Presidente's at the ready (although I'm a super fan of Brugal over ice now too) and the MOST phenomenal Lobster Lasagna that you will ever have in your life was like a dream. That trip allowed me to design my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 collection while also being able to eat here during the weekend during a late afternoon and then eating during the week late at night in the cabana. The water was gorgeous and it was truly a snippet of paradise.
This look incorporates a drool worthy caftan available at Anthropologie that I'm obsessed over by Hemant and Nandita (this design duo is BEyond and I would wear their pieces to a number of red carpets and photoshoots that I have coming up), Swarovski jewelry a fab beaded ring and a sexy preppy version of a shoe that I would so rock and is the new summer essential by Luciano Padovan! Together, this look is meant for lounging and enjoying a fine meal and many drinks in an uber relaxed setting.
Yesterday I was on a mission! Obviously as people head into theaters to get their dose of Sex and the City 2, we all love it for a variety of reasons but mainly - we love the fashion. There is something about the 4 ladies style that makes all of us want to step up our game no matter what our budgets may be! TJ Maxx reached out to me to create a look for $50 and the picture above that was taken includes a super cute halter dress from Michael Stars, a pair of aviator sunglasses from Fossil and a pair black cork sandals from Charles Arthur. These pieces combined came to $48.86 and I still had a $1.14 left on the card! If I had purchased this at their full price it would have come to $120. Of course going into the store, you don't know what to expect so it's more of an open mind situation or you may have to go to a few locations! Fortunately the store on 6th Ave had a pretty decent mix and within 20 mins, I was in and out!
Now of course you know that this would not be a Kimmie look with only a pair of sunglasses! This is a look that I would wear to go to editor's appointments, brunching with friends or just hanging out a wine bar. So of course, you can never go wrong with a stack of Ted Rossi bangles as everyone knows I live in his accessories. Cynthia Rybakoff has a gorgeous Blue is Versatile Wrap Bracelet which can also double as a necklace! I had the opportunity to wear this for my event at APART that I co-hosted and I love the chunky feel as well as how delicate it comes across! Recently, I fell in love with Goldyn. There is something about their old world style that has a bit of a Victorian feel to it! So with all of these combined, this is a phenomenal look but at its core, it started with $50 with a few things added in!
