The 9th episode of last week's Project Runway took place at the 5th Avenue Lord and Taylor department store with the inspiration coming from the retailer's signature, "American Beauty Rose", as well as the customer in mind as well and finally finishing the look with selections from L&T's Accessory Wall. The winner, Michelle Franklin, had their piece produced and is sold exclusively at the store's select locations, their website and included within the windows of the 5th Avenue location. Michelle's chartreuse satin colorblock shift dress with chiffon and microsuede trim is the perfect item to include within your spring wardrobes without a doubt.
As many of you know, I'm a huge fan of Lord and Taylor as I love purchasing my outerwear as well as shoes from the 5th Avenue location. I can always find what I'm looking for without having to worry about not finding a sales team to assist me! Above you can see how this dress began in sketch form and how it is available for purchase and how it is styled. Of course, you know when it comes to accessories, I always have a few twists and I love playing with yellow as it's a great neutral to build on top of!
ACCESSORIZE THE LOOK
Here's how I would style this look for myself or for a few of my clients who love playing with neutrals! All of these items are available at Lord and Taylor and are perfect to wear with a number of other looks that you'll wear throughout the Spring and Summer! Roll over the images above to find out more information about getting the above.
Just a few weeks ago I commented to someone about how the weather has been pretty decent for winter! In fact, we have even had some unseasonably warm days which was nice and then we hit the weather that took place yesterday - rain snow mix! I suppose we can't really complain as it's not so bad but the teasing of what we can wear as we get closer and closer to Spring is unbearable. So to that end, I'm always glad when I get a chance to travel during this time of year - but how do you travel best when you're going to a warmer climate?
I'm heading out to Charleston on Thursday morning and will be back home Friday afternoon. On a trip like this, I tend to have my garment bag and a weekender so that I don't have a lot to take with me and it ensures that everything can come on the plane with me. I love a look that lets me get right off of the plane and straight to what I need to do! I love a good kaftan and once you roll over the images, you'll see what pieces I love using and rocking so that I have great effortless style even when I'm up in the air.
Happy St Patrick's Day! Yesterday as the snow fell off and on throughout the day, I saw people making their way to 5th Ave to check out the parade that was taking place. Everyone rocked green and as the day turned to night, even the Empire State Building donned this hue yesterday as well as later on tonight. Green is such a revitalizing color and when you roll over today's images, you'll find items that are perfect in your bedroom and living room whether it's your home or you're thinking of items to take to your vacation home.
SHOE INSPIRATION
The shoe inspiration from this curated post comes from the work that I have been doing on one of my other brands' Shoe Week which launched last Sept during NYFW with a number of shows. Although we're working very hard on NYFW for this Sept, we have a number of projects throughout this year where we work with our clients. EXPATRIATE is a fabulous line designed by Kita Nolley which brings in her love for traveling to a number of destinations. Based in Atlanta, she transports you to other portions of the world. This Thurs, she will hit the runways during Charleston Fashion Week to show her line and Shoe Week partnered with her to find the perfect heels to complete her looks! United Nude is all about architectural design as the designer works in tandem with an architect to create these shoes that have been included in a number of runway shows from London, Milan, Paris, NY and much more.
ROLL OVER THE IMAGES TO GET THE DECOR
I'll keep you in the loop as I make my way to Charleston to show you the line and the fab heels from United Nude. In the meantime, you can enjoy what should be in your home and how a little green can make your space refreshing.
I'm not into overt sparkle but a fab and subtle iridescence, I'm all about that without a question! I love that it translates well whether you're talking about day or night. These are some of my fave beauty items that look well on a number of skin tones and add a bit of pop to the overall look! Today's spread focuses on two of my favorite things - eyeshadow, which I typically do not wear but when I feel there is a need to be made up, this is my go to. The other, my essential beauty accessory - nail polish and as always preferred in a rich dark color with a bit of shimmer in it!
ACCESSORIES INSPIRATION
All of my faves are inspired by this fabulous Dara Ettinger Sharon Geode Sliced Cocktail Ring which has a great neutral with a fabulous mix of colors that bring out little elements of your personality and what you want others to know about you. As always my ring is one of my main accessories to rock as I think it's a great conversation piece and it sets the tone of my look and gives a lot of indication into my personality.
GET THE BEAUTY LOOK
Eyeshadow is something that I love but in my 5 mins get up and go routine, rarely do you see me rocking it day or night which is interesting as my eyes are definitely something that I focus on. But when it's a moment that I need to step it up whether day or night, you'll see me rocking mega notice me eyeshadow OR when I am doing my appearances or segments. I am a huge fan of what is called the Marble look. This is because it's fun to mix it with other hues when I'm feeling my inner makeup artist and yet I can just wear it on its own as it's already infused with a number of hues. Nobody does it better then Laura Geller with her Baked line. I have been wearing it for years and I feel it's an essential. Other faves include Giorgio Armani's Maestro quad eyeshadow - which has a great pop of blue and I love that charcoal hue which is one of my faves to wear. For their take on marbelized, Armani Beauty's Eyes to Kill has a great golden tone with a pop of bronze. Bobbi Brown has a fab metallic hue as well which is more of a gold - think fun disco chic. Finally everyone needs that bronze look as worn alone it smouldering and when layered with other eyeshadows it's super decadent! Nars' eyeshadow in cream is an essential within my cosmetic case.
When it comes to nail polish, you'd laugh if you saw how many colors I have and how many hues I have that are only slightly different from one another. I have a series of colors that I love to wear and they all tend to be in the dark spectrum but the amount of variety that I have within this area is pretty eye opening. In terms of variety, there are hues that I have that I tend not to wear unless it is being requested by someone for something that I'm working on. For those that like a great neutral, Deborah Lippmann which is Naked. A great toned down gold shimmer is Essie's Good as Gold. Now of course, when I'm not asked to wear a specific hue, then I love going to my faves. Butter London is one of my favorite brands to wear (but you'll also see me rocking the other two as I think they have great coverage, last for a great amount of time and they look AMAZING). They have such a range of color and this fabulous green shimmer has the bling effect with a great rich hue. If I'm not in a high shimmer/rich hue then I will go the other way with a color that is so dark that it has tones of black in it with a shimmer so it doesn't have a matte effect.
I love a little wrist love and there's nothing better then having a number of stacks together to showcase your fabulous arms! I had to share some of my favorites that are in my personal collection across the top. From the left, Nagicia has a rich navy hued bracelet with a fabulous gold bead. This is a great go to piece for me to wear during the spring and summer no matter what look I am going for. During NYFW, I was gifted a super cute and very bold pink bracelet from Debbie Merle Designs which is comprised of striped agate (I am a huge fan of this stone) and crystal rondells. Right before NYFW, I was gifted from Beso Beso which is a fabulous rich dark greenish hued stone that has a bit of bling with its pave crystals. This was the perfect Valentine's Gift to receive and is begging to be layered with a number of pieces in my collection. The final winner in my collection comes from a designer that I have admired for years and can say that I love her friendship and her spirit which comes out in a number of her pieces. My large onyx ring that I wear comes from her collection and these bracelets which are 3 fabulous black beads with Swarovski Crystals, comes from none other than Ana Reign!
WHAT I'M LOOKING TO ADD TO MY WRISTS
As an Accessories Expert, I can never have enough pieces and I'm always looking at how to rotate in a number of different items to rock whatever I'm looking to wear. I fell in love with Punch and Judy a few seasons ago and love the hues within this yellow and green piece which is very much so on trend. Keeping it neutral while glisteny with this elongated stunning crystal is what you'll find in this Year of the Boar. Satya Jewelry takes the beaded bracelet to another level with its use of some of my fave materials Yellow Quartz Citrine! Continuing on with a pop of color, aqua is always a great piece to have in your wardrobe and this one by Sydney Evan which has a fabulous embellishment of a Crescent Moon which is very old world and creates an aged and storied quality to it. Finally, I love a beaded bracelet that brings a great amount of bling by combining a number of elements together. Tat2 Designs has Vintage Gold Brass and Dalmatian Jasper which will be the essential go to piece from Little White Dresses (LWD), paired with denim or any of your favorite boho chic combos!
The most important meal of the week is brunch! This is a great time when you and your boyfriend can come together to catch up with what took place over the week or what will happen, where you and a number of couples can come together as you meet over a new or favorite spot OR friends come together so that everyone can get looped back in as texting and tweeting aren't enough many times in order to stay connected. Brunch makes Saturdays and Sundays a little more special and is a great chance to rock looks that you may not normally wear or to unveil your new treasures to the world! When I hang out with friends, people always comment on my shoes first and with the weather turning (ever so slowly), you can rock your spring looks now.
SHOE INSPIRATION
Shoes are one of my top two conversation pieces and it's super easy when they're Walter Steiger who is known for his architectural style of heels. This curved heel brings a lot of drama into your outfit and I love the fact that these nude/blush pumps are a great way to build on top of an outfit!
ACCESSORIZE THE LOOK
I'm all about rocking cute dresses and the essential cuff when it's time for brunch. It ensures that I have only what I truly need, allows me to stay in the moment without all of the tech I normally take with me and know that I will be picture ready as everyone arrives. I love ombre, it's been on trend from clothing, hair, nails and more. This Otte dress is such a simple piece and incorporates grey (which I love) and emerald (Pantone's color of the year). This simple sheath shape flows on its own and also enhances your natural shape and yet is super simple. Grey is a neutral as well as nude/blush. The emerald tone a great color to bring in to give a pop to the outfit. In addition, these heels with this dress will elongate the leg and I love how there is a bit of a high/low in this dress as it's a little longer in the back then in the front.
I love that this clutch by Stark is not only my favorite material (python) but has a neutral skin with a bit of grey, white, beige and green. This is definitely a bag that you can hold in your hand and accents everything nicely. Green Tourmaline mixes well with diamonds in this Sidney Garber ring which screams luxe fabulous when propped on your finger. It pairs equally as well with Chan Luu's classic wrap bracelet. Finally, complete the look with a fabulous necklace by Jill Alberts which brings the green back into your outfit closer to your face so you can see the motif running throughout your entire outfit in a subtle way.
Last week ended a series of projects that were focused on the beginning of the year and with a lot of them closing and transitioning into new projects to start, I had to take a bit of a breather from things and seek a little inspiration after going to a few meetings and events. There was just enough time to take a little personal time and to see what was out there. This time of year is amazing as you're getting items from Spring, carryovers of items from the fall/winter that you may not have received and of course, you start thinking of items that should be hitting your closet! With my initial focus being boots (which didn't happen) I decided to have an open mind to find whatever would catch my eye!
ACCESSORIES INSPIRATIONS
I walked away with a fabulous pair of heels thanks to the amazing sales that took place at Lord and Taylor. Getting these Joan and David Quella heels which are a mixture of burgundy/berry, a mossy green and skate grey in snakeskin obviously gives me ideas on how my accessories can inspire items to add into my beauty case. Joan and David reminds me of classic heritage heels - it makes me think of looking in my mom's closet growing up and seeing heels that were in an array of hues and in my favorite magazines.
GET THE BEAUTY LOOK
With such a mixture of hues there are fab items in your local counters or online that you can purchase to bring this into your beauty case. Butter London is not only a nail polish brand but they also have lip glosses as well - I love how rich their hues are and both allow you to rock the burgundy tone whether you choose Come to Bed Red (the polish) or Primrose Hill Picnic (the lipgloss). Yves Saint Laurent also has two products that are fabulous their Volume Effect Faux Cils Burgundy Mascara and Eyeliner in Moss is another way to rock these hues. Burberry makes a number of grey hues available with this eyeshadow palette. Another great eyeshadow option is from Giorgio Armani and is a mixture of grey and a bit of green mixed in (which reminds of these heels even more).
Finish the look with these great finds. Smashbox keeps your lips richly hued in this burgundy shade. Rock these Slate nails by RGB And finally, pop in a bit of green with this waterproof and retractable eyeliner in green from the Sephora Collection!
Tonight is the big night where we say goodbye to 2012 and fully embrace 2013! Our last post of the year looks firmly ahead to Spring/Summer 2013 where we're already thinking about fabulous vibrant hues. Yesterday we looked at Turquoise as it applies to decor and today, it's all about fabulous ensembles from the SS13 runway show from Noon by Noor which is perfect for brunches, hanging out with the girls and all of our lounging that we'll do this season. I love this print whether it's in their short jumper or this maxi skirt with a split which looks fab with this olivine shirt. How would we accessorize these looks? We love this cutout cuff which combines turquoise and bronze by Pamela Love, pick up the green hues from the second look with Armenta's green turquoise and black diamond ring and complete with Stephen Dweck with his pebble necklace. When it comes to running around and looking fabulous, it's all about a great bag and this Balenciaga Arena Giant Rose Gold Town bag is absolute perfection!
We're getting down to the back half of the month and normally, it's not a big deal but it changes when you're in the month of December. Today is a gorgeous day and you have a lot on your list heading to Exhale Spa to bring in some zen, going to brunch, doing some holiday shopping, planning out your attack list for next week (the last full week before Christmas) and the list goes on and on. Today you're making moves but it is the weekend and you want to bring in your inner child with you. This outfit is inspired by a few things that have taken place this week around the Kitten Lounge Loft - green, sparkles and T-Rex!
Sometimes when I've been putting a lot of things together, have been traveling, etc it's essential for me to have the ultra in comfort and I'm loving this T-Rex oversized shirt that also has a bit of sparkle and playful tones in it by French Connection. This top is so much fun that it can simply be paired with a fun pair of jeggings by AG. WIth such a casual outfit, I love popping a sexy edge into it with these caramel colored boots from Le Silla which are a winter essential! Since we have had some mild weather especially for this time of year, you can wear this Splendid thermal hoodie as you're running around which keeps the look pretty simple.
It's all about how you accessorize and I love this super cute and sparkly hat at Anthropologie that brings in another grey piece while also picking up the hues of the T-Rex shirt which is available! Keep it playful within Ice Watch as I like the silicone grey band. Finally, you're never dressed without a fab cocktail ring - this Alexis Bittar rose gold pyrite doublet stone is the perfect way to rock out this look!
This time last year, we had the freaky snow that came right before Halloween and now on the East Coast we're dealing with a hurricane (in the midwest there was an earthquake that came in at 3.9!) Yesterday we were out braving Sandy to stock up and I have to say there are times when an umbrella isn't the best thing when there's wind running around! But if you are able to rock an umbrella in this weather, Marc Jacobs can definitely complete the look. With the rest of the week being rainy, it's a pretty key accessory. I'm obsessed with Ahnu rainboots which came thanks to me attending Pamela Pekerman's Well Accessorized for the Holidays. I have to say that these are super comfy and yet fit your feet in such a way that you don't feel like you have a clunky boot. When the rains hit, you want items that are perfect for getting wet - this leather shopper tote from Hunter Boot is amazing and can be worn with this rubber watch from Swiss Army watch. Finally, I'm loving that there is no reason to not look super chic in this inclimate weather by Burberry trench coat with a hood! Together this looks super cute and ensures that your items will not be drenched! Stay dry and safe as we continue on with Hurricane Sandy.
The Australian Olympic team will rock these classic looks from Sportscraft and Volley which exude a slim fit sensability with a nod to classic modern. Interestingly enough, the brand reached out to the Olympians in terms of the look that they wanted to wear. As the Olympians make their way to the arena, their outfits have their rich Australian green hue with navy and gold trimming. With the white skirts and pants, this will definitely make them highly visible.
I love a weekend prior to a holiday! In my case, the weekend prior to a holiday means that I can get odds and ends done prior to the 4th and my upcoming travel! It's all about the perfect pot of tea (whether I sip it in the morning, chill it or add a little champagne to it) which starts off with my Breville. I'm loving Kusmi Tea especially in Detox which is a great way to kick off the day. Since this weekend is bound to be gorgeous, I want to be ready for anything whether it's a lunch or a night out so slip on this Missoni jumpsuit which reminds me of candy and all the sweetness that a weekend is meant to have. Pair this with Gerard Yosca with this fab necklace and pendant. Slip on Zariin Jewelry's Green Agate Gold. Round out the look with Givenchy and this large leather bag as it's perfect to store items that you shop for when you're out and about. Finally clad your feet in Prada to make your weekend perfection!
Last night we watched a number of phenomenal looks hit Alice Tilly Hall at Lincoln Center for the 2012 CFDA Fashion Awards. Actress Sophia Bush rocked a fabulously vibrant tangerine Signature dress by one of my fave designers that I have rocked for appearances and shoots by David Meister. I love that she rocked Lorraine Schwartz jewelry which gave her amazing bling and she had on a pair of Christian Louboutin heels that had a pop of blue and citrus/rose hue. To end the look, she had a gold crystal and skin Lana clutch by Daniel Swarovski.
I love this look and think that she looked fabulous. If I were wearing this dress, I would have opted to have a necklace as I feel that this is missing in this look - placing this Emily Armenta New World Green Turquoise Cross on a long or doubled chain would have been perfect for this plunging dress. I would have stayed in Louboutin's but would have rocked the Lady Max Spike T-Strap in silver (I also love it in gold as well as a darker metal hue) and finally, for the perfect cocktail ring - you can never go wrong with the I-Lunga Carnelian Turquoise Tower Ring which is old world!
Last night, I enjoyed having an intimate preview of one of my favorite fashion shows in bridal, Romona Keveza. I love that she is always at the St Regis. During her earlier shows she has a full runway show on the 2nd floor and then she either shows at the Dior Suite or the Presidential Suite. Yesterday, it was the Presidential Suite and as we watched Legends hit each of the rooms, I began to think about how everything you see inspires the space. This peplum (which can be detached) bridal gown, placed within a room with wood, neutrals and a hint of green with the florals was the inspiration with the overall look of the perfect room that begs to be used as a place for nibbles, conversation and relaxation! I'm loving this wing tipped chair by Ethan Allen with this plaid chair with grey, ecru and white. When sitting with friends, this can be paired with a fabulous couch and this Jocelyn Coffee Table by Horchow which has a glass stop, curved legs and is just pleasing to the eye. When having friends over, Royal Doulton Light Green Chip & Dip Set from Cooking.com is the perfect way to have appetizers and you can enjoy a few martinis from this Waterford Pitcher available at Gump's. Finally keep the mood going with fabulous lighting from the Avante Marble Table Lamp which is also available at Ethan Allen.
I love flowy dresses for special events and Sonja Morgan (earlier this month) hosted Nickelodeon's Orange Carpet Premiere! Yellow is definitely the color of the season and my closet. But there are other fabulous chiffon gowns that you should have on your list. I'm loving Oscar de la Renta's one shoulder silk number which is fabulous and makes you look like the belle of the ball. I also love Halston Heritage's Ocean Degrade Hem dress which has a gradiating hue that also allows a bit of skin to show so that everyone can see how fab your shoes are. I also love this necklace by Bidermann which is a cuff and accents your neck (this works with all three dresses). These dresses have a bit of the Grecian aesthetic so Cathy Waterman's, Gold Laurel Leaf Ring is the perfect way to complete this look.
Whew what a busy week, I've been running back and forth between a number of appointments. Now that I have a new laptop thanks to my Sugar platform, I'm rocking a 17" in screen again. This means, it has to be accessorized. As many of you know, I'm a Brahmin fan and this laptop case is FABULOUS! True to the colors of the season, I am loving the shrimp/coral hue that it's available in (although they have brown and black as well). When I am meeting with my brands, I love having a fun dress that looks amazing but also keeps me comfortable. I love this kimono dress by Issa which is the perfect compliment to Spring. Place this Paige Novick pendant with this dress as it picks up the hue of the laptop case. Citrine by the Stones has a fun small wire intertwined bangle which looks fab with the sleeves of this dress. Finally, I love rings! I like the concept of mixed metals as there is no rule stating that you can only wear all gold or all silver. They are neutrals and can be interchangeable. Melissa Joy Manning has a cute set of alphabet rings and that's a fun piece to include in the look. For the pop of color, I'm all about Nam Cho's Bulls Eye Ring! This is a fab look whether you're at the office, doing a TV segment or meeting friends after work/on the weekend!
We're almost out of January, our first month of the year and already, I'm thinking of vacation in the spring! With that said, we have to think about the brands that are a must to bring with you when it's time to take some time for yourself! First off, when it's time for Paul and I to take some super much needed time, my bag isn't complete without Norma Kamali! I have to say that I am typically not a girl who would wear a one piece; however, this classic piece is one that I would wear as it brings an essence of old world nostalgia with a sexiness of what a swimsuit can bring. This emerald suit is definitely a stunner and I love that today's accessories support this look with one of my favorite stones being jade! What I love most about this is - if you're taking a vacation with mixed groups whether it's family, friends, etc this style of suit allows you to show off your assets without being as obvious as wearing a bikini if you're in a quandry of what you should pack in terms of being appropriate.
Emilio Pucci's cuff is fabulous decadent and the perfect item to compliment the fab swimsuit. Gypsy Explore has a phenomenal necklace that is perfect for the halter swimsuit which is a great way to showcase this piece. In addition, I love the tassel and the ornate quality that is bound to draw stares. A girl should always have her handbag, so I'm loving the large envelope clutch by Pour La Victoire which has fun hardware and picks up this fab color that I can't get enough of. Slip on Tuleste Market's gold and tiger double egg ring which is a great way to add a little edge to the look. Finally, rock the entire look with a fun shoe from Fendi which adds another hue but is the perfect way to make you look phenomenal when you're on deck, in the cabana or wherever your destination takes you.
Yaya Dacosta looks amazing seen here at W Magazine's 69th Annual Golden Globes Awards party. You may recognize her as the runner up in America's Next Top Model Cycle 3, she has been in a number of campaigns for Oil of Olay, Sephora and more as well as movies such as Tron: Legacy, The Kids are All Right and of course in TV she has been on All My Children, Army Wives, Ugly Betty and more! Just like yesterday we showed an amazing look an re-accessorized it, here I feel there are not enough accessories. During award season I am always shocked how this portion of the look seems to be left to the last minute or is not embraced as much as it should be.
I love the black dress and think that it makes Yaya gorgeous and I love that she popped in this fabulous green with her shoes and her bracelet - to add to this look, I would mix in white gold, gold and diamonds which creates a playful look. The dress is so dynamic that adding in a bit of whimsy will add to the playful look. I love Sethi Couture's pink and white diamond flower ring which is a fab cocktail piece that is perfect for a night out. Mizuki's triple crescent triangle necklace blends the two elements together and will play nicely with the off the shoulder dress without competing with it. Finally, I'm in love with Orlando Orlandini's white gold earring drops - such a decadent look and perfect to wear with a number of outfits beyond the red carpet.
For those of you who know me pre my NYC days, I grew up in Indiana in a hard core car family. My parents were execs at one of the Big Three and I definitely have a respect and a love for the industry. I'm not really into driving personally but I know great features when I see it. At Pamela Pekerman's Accessory event, she took it to another level by having us picked up in a variety of Ford cars to arrive at her event on one of the nastiest days in the city without having to worry about getting rained on.
I found myself earlier this week heading over to ROOT: Drive in Studios to check out hybrid and electric cars for 2012 by Ford. At the event, Adrian Grenier announced the partnership of SHFT.com, an award winning multi-media platform and Ford whose mission is to convey a sustainable approach to the way we live through video, design, art and culture. This will reflect trends in green living and allow consumers the power of choice in a sustainable way. The collection of cars maximizes and enhances the individual's lifestyle which is definitely exciting. In addition to promoting sustainable initiatives on the site, I'm loving that Ford also gets lifestyles from across the country!
Living in NYC, we're used to cabbing it, being chauffered etc the idea of really driving is not a reality for most of us living in the coveted concrete jungle. I ENJOY being carted around everywhere and now you can enjoy the same thing this holiday season! Starting on Nov 25th, you can enter to be apart of a VIP experience for eight different cities to win a hassle-free holiday, complete with a chauffeur to the mall! Write your Holiday Stresses on Ford's Facebook page (GOES LIVE ON NOV 21ST) as in addition to the fab prize, there are opportunities for other prizes!
I mean when it comes to this holiday season we have a number of stresses from deciding what it is that we need to do, get and more studies show that 87% of American adults have these feelings when shopping in this season and to think that 55% of this feeling can be attributed to cars from worrying about traffic jams, long commutes, finding parking spots and navigating from store to store. With the craziness of this season, make sure that you sign up to get an opportunity to enjoy a little luxe during this season. In addition, remember that there are some things you can do to reduce your stress! Ford Escape is my fave car in that it is not only a hybrid but it has a hands free component as you load your car (as seen above in green), swiping your foot under the car near the trunk allows the liftgate to open so you can store your packages and this same move closes it without you having to touch it! In non car related ways, you can make a list to help you navigate easily whether it is for a month overview or something specific to the day! Organize your music so you won't have to try to figure out what you want to listen to during your drive time and more!
Everyone loves when we have long days and warm nights! Nothing is better then having the opportunity to have a staycation (hello having the opportunity to stay at a friend's penthouse) or to head out to the Hamptons or wherever your destination takes you! Now whether you're thinking that you should say thank you to your friend's generosity of giving you a change of scenery OR you want to thank your guests for coming all the way to you - I rounded up some must have items that are not only easy to throw in your tote but will make you look amazing and are fun to share!
In the upper hand corner, I'm loving the refreshing Clean and Clear Morning Burst which has a fab citrus smell to it! This is also great for unisex sharing as well. If you're gifting, you can throw in this vibrant Essie and a complementary hued eyeshadow, by Maybelline, as eyes look phenom in shades of green regardless of the skin tone! On the right hand corner, we love making sure that your hair looks phenomenal and I love olive oil so this shampoo and conditioner is perfect by Palmer's. I'm a huge fan of Palmer's as a cocoa butter for the body so why not continue using this fab brand for as much as possible! Of course, to make sure your girls look phenomenal this is a fab very pale robin's egg color by Essie - once again perfect for sharing!
Finally, we always need to have more items in our beauty arsenal so why not ensure that everyone's lips and eyes look phenom by having Rimmel London on hand! I'm loving the eyeshadow which is perfect for the weekend as you can make a number of sexy cat eyes with this look as well as their Moisture Renew which comes in a number of hues with SPF that is included! It's all about keeping it simple and beautiful!
This Sunday's Snazzy Sundays continues our Spring Break 2011 theme! Sometimes you get inspiration for how something looks by something in a magazine or on a runway. But then again you may get an idea from your bikini! I'm loving Shoshanna as they're bringing in the fun Ikat print that everyone is rocking one way or another with their looks for yet another spring/summer season! There is something about white, turquoise, green and yellow coming together that makes everything bright as well as perfect for gatherings. We also love that it's still in keeping with the colors that we think about in terms of Easter as well! Follow the Ikat love by adding various hues that are found in the suit! I'm loving Haute House's Monroe Sofa which is so Miami chic and begs for color to be placed on it's cushions. For that, we get inspired by our fave Trink Turk pillows. Finally add some whimsy and bring in the sun with Perch Zooey Mini Chandelier Pendant Lamp. All are fab choices for a day/night in of keeping the season year around!
I've got the Beauty Blues. Not the sad ones - the tranquil ones. Before I enjoy the hectic fun of St Patty's green, I'm relaxing post SXSW by doing a million conference calls and taking some personal time. I love the fact that EOS has just released their hand lotion (if you love their lip balm this is going to be a huge treat) which has all the calming effects that you can look for with oat, aloe, shea butter and Vitamin A and E. Continuing with the theme of rejuvenation after a long day of traveling H2O Sea Pure's Gentle Refining Polish has sea moss, fine grated bamboo extract and more to keep my skin glowing after all the parties and lights that I have been through. Continuing on with a nice bubble bath with Big Blue Bomb at Lush which has nice fizzies when you're getting ready for a fun night/weekend. Of course wrapping it up with a Gel Eye Mask in Blue of course - only when it has been in the freezer for a bit.
This fall, Lela Rose, presents a line that is whimsical but full of dramatic elements! As I hit backstage, I loved that Ted Gibson's team was hard at work (Ted was at the Grammy's doing hair last night) creating old world Hollywood glam with that perfect mix of manicured hair while also having a bit of that messy quality that is so hard to achieve together. Stila ensured that the models looked fabulous with their bold dramatic colors and of course, the manis that the models rocked was a fun very dark green color with a hint of black by Deborah Lippman, known as Billionaire (you know that I am a fan of Zoya's Indigo so this caught my eye for sure).
I'm such a believer in appropriate plaid and I love love the way that it looks! You always have to be dressed for brunch and although I think that people should step up their look when it comes to brunch. What I love about this look is that I love the footwear which is super casual and although the plaid is very typical, I love the pop underneath which is the Chuck Norris tee (hello they made him a Texas Ranger a few weeks ago). With New Years Eve days away, you have to think about where you are going to go for your first brunch date of the year which is the most important one of the year as it will set the tone for all your gossip fests as well as adoring words! This is a super cute look that will be perfect for 2011 - where are you guys heading off to?
The day before I left for the DR to design my Fall 11 Kitten Lounge x Sebago line, I made sure that I beautified before I left. Apart of the process was heading to Polished Beauty Bar on the Upper West Side. Now I had heard great things about this via friends and have to say that more than a week later I only have the tiniest of chips on my nails - it is work the trek for sure to go to this super zen place. No detail is left wasted. I loved meeting the owner, Susan Nam who definitely makes you feel like you're at home. We gabbed about our mutual love for cardigans, maxis and layers. I selected Indigo a gorgeous blue black polish with sparkle. I have to say that I am now a dark color girl for not only my pedis BUT ALSO my manis! After selecting my color, I enjoyed sitting in these massage chairs pictured above that also massage your butt - super amazing! For this alone, the chairs make everything feel like it's ok! Located at 250 W 78th between Broadway and West End, you'll find a number of services with my fave ones being manis ($12) and pedis ($30). Another fab service is the fact that they have these little sanitizers for your shoes. As you get your pedi, your shoes are cleaned and disinfected - supposedly they smell like ocean breezes when you get them!
Beyond being a chic spot and the new place to enjoy some time to hang out with your girls as you gab over the weeklies. I love that this place is green! The fact that they use Zoya and have quite a bit of their 300 collection, you know that your polish doesn't have all the chemicals in it. In addition, their nail polish remover is soy based which is perfect. Find out more about the salon, new colors that are coming up and specials by signing up for their tweets at @PolishedBB! I can tell you that this is officially my fave salon and that I am not interested in going in any other salon after my amazing polish!
