I have always wanted to learn another language. One of my favorite things about Middle School is that we were able to take exploratory language courses. Basically, over a year, you would get to learn about various languages over a period of weeks so that when you went to highschool, you could choose the one that you wanted to take! I loved it because I was exposed to Greek, French (which I ended up taking through college), Spanish, Chinese, Hebrew and Japanese. I loved being able to read, speak and write these components. But of course, once I had selected a language, there were the books, workbooks and tapes. At that time they didn't really do the CDs and it was definitely a subject that required a lot of repeating and learning the intricacy of the language!
So fast forward to the present. I'm super busy and yet I want to learn Italian - not just because I have always wanted to but due to an upcoming project or complete transition that I'm about to take, I find this necessary. I thought about taking courses on it or trying to find books, etc but none of this seemed to be right for me. It wasn't until I went online and thought - Rosetta Stone. To be honest, at the time I knew it was something I wanted because I could put it on my laptop so at least I wouldn't be lugging things around all day! But after I received it, I knew it was more than a matter of convenience!
After receiving the package, you get everything you need - a headset microphone, CDs that are used for the laptop and also CD's that you can take with you to keep learning or that can be downloaded on your iPod! I loved the fact that you can choose how you want to learn. In this way, if you're familiar with the language but want to focus on reading it, you could do that; however, being a newbie I chose a more well rounded series of courses. There are three levels of learning and within my first CD, there are four courses. On Sat I completed the first course within 30 minutes which allowed me to read, speak and write. From the get go I was immersed in Italian and I love that when you're speaking it, the system knows when you're saying it right! I also love that if you're not you can hit a button that shows the pattern of the native speakers voice and my own to show you how it sounds!
I will continue to provide updates on the Rosetta Stone and my thoughts on it. I will be working on a video today where this will be included and yes I do believe it's worth the cost to have all three levels and to learn at your own pace!
I am looking for the perfect clutch! Yes it takes a bit to find the right one. I always see those that are great to pair with certain outfits; however, I have yet to find one that is my "Go To" bag. I love this clutch which I think would work with a variety of outfits (but don't think it's quite the one - so the search continues). This clutch is from Gianfranco Ferre and has the brown logoed canvas and leather that runs thorughout the clutch. This is perfect for the evening or to pair with your denim outfits. If this clutch isn't what you had imagined to purchase, check out other items that are available on Forzieri which is known for their Italian products that they carry. I love that they have great designers from those that you know and those that possibly you may not be as familiar with. You're guaranteed to find something that will definitely work out and getting introduced to something that you would have never known.
I went to Aroma NYC a couple of years ago shortly after it's opening. I loved the rustic Italian vibe and felt that it was a great way to enjoy a meal. I loved seeing the owners navigate through the main room to make sure that we were pleased with our choices and to suggest the wine as well. I am so pleased that they now have regular events. For example, on Monday's you can enjoy a 5 course sampling meal for $30 with wine pairings for $25. This is a great way to sample many of their dishes and to share meals with friends. I'm also pleased that they have now entered into brunch as well, which is important when you think about how important this time is to catch up with friends! Check out Aroma's website and figure out when you will stop by for holiday gatherings - I'll see you there!
