Fashionable Fridays: Pray For Japan ~ Natori

From Assouline Publishing we continue on with the ways that support is being provided. The day is over and walking the streets of NYC with near 70 degree weather, it was great to see people taking advantage of the fab weather with outdoor drink, walking to work or thinking about the weekend. While many are thinking about all the amazing plans on their list, we still want to showcase our final brand that we have included in our roundup. Natori is known for her chic design and although she has extended her collection to ready to wear items that are perfect for errands, I love her best for her beauty products as well as her night outfits. In the upper left hand corner, the world of Natori and the founder is included in the fab image. Natori is giving 10% of sales of her products to aid in Japan's relief! Our last roundup is perfect for when you're ready to relax solo or with that someone special! Nothing is better than taking a fab bath and just lingering around the house in an amazing robe (I definitely have my eyes on Kiki from Agent Provocateur) and filling the house with the smell of amazing candles (have loved Volupsa since Anthropologie). For an added portion to your appetite, you can have Urban Decay's Sparkling Edible Body Powder (my second favorite to 24/7 Zero eyeliner that this brand makes) to put an end to a long week that is about to open the doors to an amazing weekend!

Fashionable Fridays: Pray For Japan ~ Assouline Publishing

The effort to support the relied continues and we haven't just thought about apparel. support the relief in Japan by purchasing Assouline's The Light of Tokyo which is an amazing book and will be fab to add to your bookshelf as well as your coffee table (more importantly). We have all visited friends with fab spaces for a house warming, Hamptons weekend and more and this is a great gift. Loving that I just came back from warmth in Texas, all I can think about is recreating fab looks and I love maxis and rompers and of course looking phenomenal. How can you not love fab pieces from Kenneth Jay Lane, Christian Louboutin (loving that this is so much like the D2Squared boat shoe that I loved a few seasons ago), Noir Jewelry, House of Harlow and this Mikoh Strapless Romper (which is perfect for hot NYC days and amazing South Beach nights. Support Japan and add to your bookshelf.

Fashionable Fridays: Pray For Japan ~ Alexis Bittar

We move Rebecca Minkoff and continue focusing on fashion brands who are supporting Japan with a fab designer that I love, Alexis Bittar for his over the top design aesthetic! We've given a number of fab looks today but of course I had to do one for a night out when you're with the girls or with your hunnie. Alexis Bittar posted on his blog earlier this week with his Buy to Give campaign. Much like he did during Haiti, Alexis is donating 100% of the sales of jewelry online from March 21st - March 25th to support Japan via the Catholic Relief Fund. In addition, if you purchase at his boutiques on March 24th, 100% of those sales will go to this fund as well. I think this is a phenomenal initiative and you're bound to find drool worthy pieces that evoke the Dynasty age (Joan Collins is his muse after all).

Fashionable Fridays: Pray For Japan ~ Rebecca Minkoff

We cotinue to look at brands that are reaching out to assist Japan and although you know that we love Palmer Cash tees but you know that we are also a huge fan of Rebecca Minkoff as well. Earlier this week, on Facebook and on Minkette, the above image came out showing that Rebecca Minkoff would donate $100 from each sale of her red bags to the Red Cross! If you've always wanted an excuse to pop in some red love, now is the time to do it without question. I'm loving this look as it's perfect to travel in and to enjoy lunch at an outdoor cafe!

Fashionable Fridays: Pray For Japan ~ Palmer Cash

As mentioned in the previous post, today all posts will have one item where funds are being provided to Japan to support them in their time of need. We have been a fan of Palmer Cash for quite some time and their effort includes a number of tees for men and women where 100% of the sales of the shirts will go to the Red Cross to aid Japan Not only are the tees fab but as we get into better weather, they are super fashionable. This look overall is perfect for running errands, grabbing cocktails with the girls in a chill environment and even going to brunch with your hunnie. I'm loving that Baby Phat Paula wedges are super cute and allow this look to be so versatile, it's amazing to pair with jeans or leggings. Keep it casual by throwing on some aviators and add a bit of chic a la Rachel Zoe with this fab fur vest!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Pray For Japan

It's been a week but this time last week I was getting ready to head to Austin for SXSW. Little did I know that Japan had a major catastrophe hit it with a tsunami AND an earthquake. Saturday morning I sat in my hotel with my boyfriend reading about the events and how people helped. Those attending the SXSW conference came together and such groups as SXSW4Japan were created to support. As news continued to spread, I know my sister and I reached out to our friends and colleagues to ensure that they were ok and without question, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone that is there and those who have people out there. My sister, boyfriend and friends travel their frequently and to know that something like that happened is mind numbing!

In the midst of the tragedy, we are aware of organizations that are providing 100% of funds to help the people of Japan. There are also those in the fashion community that are either doing the same or providing a portion of the funds to be apart of the efforts. Kitten Lounge is not in the debate on whether one should opt to support the Red Cross or whether you should purchase an item knowing that proceeds will be made available. It is our belief that whatever way you choose to support and where your heart feels the most comfortable is the best way! Today, we have a total of 6 posts (Palmer Cash, Rebecca Minkoff, Alexis Bittar, Assouline Publishing and Natori) that will have one item in each that goes to aid Japan and we hope that you pass it along to others!

A Bathing Ape, on the day of the tragedy, let its fans know that you could come by their store to donate to the Red Cross as well as provided a link for those that would like to do online donations. We hope that by curating fab items that are available you can support those who need the help as we continue to hear more heartbreak from this situation!

Sippin Saturdays ~ A Few Words

I can't believe that the summer starts on Monday but I wanted to thank everyone for making Kitten Lounge an amazing success as we go into this summer! We have a lot going on that I can't wait to share with all of you (behind the scenes stuff, heading to Japan, couture and so much more) and already our fall is looking fabulous! Please make sure to follow us on Facebook as the Kitten Lounge will begin to have exclusives posted on there that will not be on this site! If you're weekend is as gorgeous as mine, make sure to take some time to enjoy the fab weather and look fabulous when doing it! Love the necklace - we've gotten positive feedback as the sales of this necklace (that I make by hand) from Kitten Couture go to supporting the Picasso Veterinary Fund. Medical care can be administered to NYC's shelter pups and cats so that they're not euthanized and can be given to families! This is a huge initiative on this site and thank you to those that are supporting this and those that will purchase this necklace in the future. Find out more here and then visit Kitten Couture to buy one of your very own whether you wear it as one long chain or double or triple it up!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Work it Out This Sat!

This Sat is a huge night DJ Eloy will be in Long Island doing what he does best - mixing video and music! Come to the Shore Club, info is on the invite. Make sure you leave your names here so that you can be on the guestlist. Loving that it's open bar until midnight so if you're in Island Park (this is one stop away from Long Beach) come out to see him perform. He's going to be super busy as his tour starts up and I may not see him again until Nov in Japan when a large group of us will be out there. If you've yet to go to his shows, you need to see how he gets the crowd moving and how passionate he is! The Shore Club is a fun venue and with amazing weather, why not take some time out? Hit the beach and then we'll club it up - dancing is the best exercise and the healthy glow you get is fab for the complexion tooD! Check out more about DJ Eloy here!

Trendy Thursdays ~ DJ Eloy Gets a Little Hair Action in the Mix

You never know where DJ Eloy is spinning next (of course you could check out his website - DJEloy.com) as he could be at Prana, the beach house, cruise ships, Seattle or Japan. But one thing we do know is that he knows how to spin as he integrates videos - we all have our faves and you can check them out! But if you get to see him spin in person, you know that not only does he keep everyone moving but there are always fans that pop up to get a closer look on his skills. Check out DJ Eloy spinning with Axe Twist on hand to keep him looking fab and of course this fan steps in to get closer to the hair action. With dates coming up, we'll keep you posted on DJ Eloy's own video showing how hair action keeps him moving and grooving!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Mind Games

Yesterday, my sister, Dorian Smith had her book released on Amazon.com and it's available on Kindle which is super exciting! In addition, you can find out more about this amazing book which incorporates her love for NY, fashion and Japan by visiting Mind Games' site! If you love a mystery - this is for you. I remember when I was reading it about a year ago. My only complaint was that there were loose ends which meant that I would have to wait for the next book! As a side note, I love that she included a picture with her and Jimmy Choo when he was just a baby!

Sippin' Saturdays ~ Chinese New Year Beverages

Top_chineseIt's the year of the rat and Chinese New Year is well under way! In light of that, I began visiting sites that have great beverages that will put you in the mood. One of my favorite places to go to see interesting drinks is Cocktail Times which is a such a great resource. I found a drink that includes Tofu, Tamari (this is an interesting sauce that has soy in it which is definitely something that is new to me) and Shochu which is a distilled liquid from Japan that has properties that are more like Vodka as opposed to Sake. For more recipes, make sure you visit Cocktail Times which is perfect for your next function!

Tamari Tofutini

Ingredients:
- 3 oz Shochu
- A few drops of San-J Tamari
- 2 cubes of Tamari marinated tofu

Fill a martini shaker about 3/4 full of ice; pour shochu and a few drops of Tamari into shaker and shake. Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass and add toothpick with 2 cubes of tofu soaked in San-J Tamari for extra taste.

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Exotic Love

Geishagirl One of my favorite movies and books is Memoirs of a Geisha. I love learning about another culture and period of time while also enjoying amazing outfits! There is something about this movie that inspired a variety of designers and beauty giants (I loved Fresh's collection which was absolutely amazing). Now this super cute A-Line clutch from Holland Cox is called 'Geisha Girl'! The exotic colors make you think of an amazing island. Not only is the color AMAZING but I love the vintage kimono silk which will look amazing with so many outfits (hello red carpet no matter where you go). Make sure you support local indies by showing the love by making some great purchases that everyone will love seeing you come and go in!
