If you're running around today to get some last minute shopping done whether it's for gifts or to get your home in order for guests, it's not REALLY last minute as this is the day before Christmas Eve and the last Sunday prior to Christmas Day. The Kitten Lounge has been remote working on a number of fab updates that will take affect in the new year but we're definitely in holiday mode! Today, we're inspired by green and how this can be in your home as guests come over! As there is nothing wrong with a little sparkle, we had to share this show stopping dress that's perfect during the holiday season and is very regal by Alice + Olivia. This is perfect whether you're planning for a New Year's Eve party, an innauguration or another special event in your life.
Bring in some pop of this color as well as other hues of green with this vase by Crate and Barrel and an open mouthed container that's colorblocked at Anthropologie to add some decor options into your space. As you may be spending some hours cooking a fabulous meal or having others assist, ensure that you're in the holiday season with Staub's cooking set essentials (available at Williams Sonoma cooking) which is perfect for what you'll be having. Finally, sit down at your dinner table with plates by L'Objet Fortuny. From now until the end of year, we'll bringing some fun lists of things that we love, recapping over the following year and spending a bit of time down memory lane!
A few weeks ago, I received a fabulous owl necklace which has only made me want to think of ways to incorporate this into decor options! I'm obsessed with Heather Moore's owl charm and it's today's inspiration. For your bedroom or wherever you place your jewelry after wearin git for the day, how about this Owl Trinket Dish from Urban Outfitters. When it comes to the kitchen, we're loving that Pottery Barn has owl plates as well as a punch bowl that incorporates the owl's tree branch! This is perfect for holiday parties. Clean up spills with this dishtowel from Anthropologie and as you sip a bit of espresso, these mugs are perfect and available at West Elm.
Whether you're on Tumblr or Pinterest, you know that people are obsessing over the crisp and summer hue known as Mint! I love it too and had to share fabulous finds. Inspired by this fab dress on eDress Me.com, I have paired it with a number of pieces thaty you can bring into your home in order to enjoy this color as everyone else has! Neiman Marcus which is another favorite of mine, this distressed side cabinet is perfect for the living room, office or other spaces that need a cute cabinet that can also be additional storage. Another fave is Horchow which has this fabulously decadent lamp in mint with pops of gold. It's all about scents and the diffuser by Makenzie-Childs is bound to visually transport you to this hue while also doing so as you smell it throughout your home! Finally, I love this globe which makes geography uber chic done in mint via Design Within Reach!
I love it! Yellow is definitely one of my fave colors to incorporate within my look especially when you mean the very specific hue of Citron! I love this lemon look and how it is the new neutral! Today's look is inspired by Halston Heritage which has a fab vibrant yellow woven throughout this dress. This idea can transcend to your home! Do you have an area that needs a little love in your living room? How about Ethan Allen's bench which is a great way to provide extra seating. In the bedroom, you and your sig other can enjoy this stripe duvet cover and sham from West Elm which adds a bit of brightness to your room. Add Galbraith & Paul to your room or living room with these fun throw pillows. Finally, make your treats special with these ramekins by Emile Henry!
I love that coral can either be that chic lighter tone that makes you think of the Hamptons and subtle spring hues or the rich deep hues that invoke notions of Morocco! The entire look was created from a fabulous Missoni dress that has shades of coral, light mauve and white. This look made me think of all the ways that this color can work within my living space. I am obsessed with Anthropologie's small market basket that you can imagine placing fruit in and other tasties. Continuing into the kitchen, the rich tones is the Noritake Coral Soup Bowl. When it comes to your living room this bench by Ballard Designs is apart of a much larger collection but is a great way to bring in that sense or old world or you can place it in your bedroom to add a bit of edge to your sheets that are available at Williams Sonoma. Finally, add a touch by bringing in a fun bauble which is available at Gump's.
Earlier in the week, my sister and I were walking around the home department of a store and of course we were bombarded by holiday sets everywhere balanced pretty evenly between Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. When you're in the last few months of the year, you literally move from one event to the next only to be planning the next dinner, party or social soiree. With that said Oct and Nov are dominated by orange! It's the harvest season and although we identify this with the time of year since it happens on our trees, it can sometimes seem daunting to accent our home in this hue as well as to keep it there throughout the year. Orange is a fab color that works throughout the calendar season and shouldn't be relegated to pumpkins only (although how cute is this Sur La Table pumpkin candle).
Jessica Simpson's Princess pump pointed me in the appropriate orange direction by thinking outside of the hue box by taking the shade as we know it while also playing with the mixing of hues to create a look that is uniquely our own. I'm loving the bright orange that is found in the Orange Moroccan Pouf by Posh Tots (they also have this in other colors) and obviously, each week I pull something from Horchow that is a must - this week it's all about the poppy bowl - I do love a nice glass piece. Horchow comes to your bedroom, where it can be a harvest to citrus oasis depending on the season. The kitchen becomes fun thanks to the conical bowls from Cooking.com. Continue spreading the love with pops of pillows by Design Public and infuse this fab scent by Archipelago Botanicals.
Your living space can take a few cues from some of your most beloved closet treasures! In honor of October being National PJ Month, I had to select Kiki de Montparnasse's Amour Lace Trimmed Silk Chiffon Camisole which is sweet and super cute to wear as your wrapped up in your cashmere blankie and super cute cashmere knee high socks! With that said, this great cream color can be accented with browns as well as tones of pink. These colors can be done in such a way that it looks amazing whether it's with your significant other, your bedroom, kitchen or living room!
I'm loving this Victorian inspired vase by Anthropologie which is a nice accent piece. This cabinet is a nice antiqued feature (I'm obsessed) from Rooms to Go that adds a bit of character and yet allows you to store a number of items in there that don't need to be out and about. Everyone knows that I'm all about taking your tea throughout the day so of course when I saw this set by Horchow I knew it would be a fab way to bring in a bit of the nip and chill. As you send your thank you notes as you're setting up a nice way to entertain guests for at home brunches, Neiman Marcus has you covered. All of your tasty goodies can be made with this white on white mixer by Diane Von Furstenberg you can have a phenom boho chic modern inspired sleeping space that allows you to have a great base of color while also adding in fun pops that are for you and your favorite guests or living partner!
With crisper temperatures on the way, I do love the way of infusing gold within your decor whether it's for a fun guestroom, kitchen, living room and so much more! We have so many fab items in today's spread that initially were inspired by Anthropologie's apron (which I love them). I'm already thinking of holiday dinners, gift wrapping parties and more. No matter how big your space, you can find fun decadent ways from Ralph Lauren, Horchow and of course Anthropologie - we've got your decor decked out!
We all know that inspiration can come from anywhere so why not start out with your beauty closet? I'm loving these hues that are available at Zoya! With over 300 colors that they make, you're bound to find something that inspires your bedroom, living room and kitchens! There are four amazing shades from light hues to darker ones and with brands such as Natori, Nicole Miller, Rachael Ray, Cuisinart and more you'll find a number of pieces that will add a regal and exotic flare to your home!
Here in NYC we drool over fabulous penthouses, brownstones and those who have accesses to beach house (love ours in LB) but depending on where you live, housing luxuries change and I want to introduce you to Michael Parks who is the architect and designer of this fabulous Hollywood Hills Modern home! Now you can see the full look by visiting the home but we found items that we love and make us wish that we could have a few nights to stay on the west coast!
Michael took a home that definitely looked like time had forgotten it and created a remodeled one that has a warm and super stylish look to it. Nestled in the hills, this home is made for amazing dinner parties, is perfect for moments of zen and simply ready to be lived in with ample amounts of light. Being someone who loves having people over, whether you cook or not, you can enjoy the European kitchen, wall of glass, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and tons of storage space! This is an ultimate home and one that you will enjoy looking at all the images. Check out more about this fab home and I love many of the accents that were placed throughout the home! I expect to see this in a future episode of Elle Decor but I could also imaging doing amazing photoshoots within this home as it's absolutely stunning!
I never thought about Tea Towels really. You know, you have them hanging on the knob of a cabinet or on the handle of your oven door. They're perfect for wiping up a quick mess, drying off a dish or just folding to putting something warm on it. There is something about having one in your kitchen and displayed that makes you say, "this is my kitchen". My first apartment in college my tea towels were white and blue and it was the last touch that I needed. At one point in my career when I worked at Anthropologie as a Home Manager, I was obsessed with the various Tea Towels that they had!
So when I received an email yesterday about a group that had placed an importance on Tea Towels, I took notice and had to share it with all of you! Power Women Magazine & Radio Show are seeking people that can help them with a special goal as they are looking for us to give back to women shelters across the nation. They are seeking for people to donate at least 1 Tea Towel whether it's brand new or one that you have made. From now through the end of Nov, this organization will accept these donations and Power Women will make sure that they are given to the women who are making the transition from women's shelter to their very own place. In many cases, these women who are ready to transition only have the clothes that they came in with and although the shelter provides as many things as possible, certain amenities are not provided. These items may not be essential in terms of living; however, they are elements that we identify with in terms of making an environment a home and not a house. If you are interested in donating, please contact me so that I can provide the address. For each person that donates a towel, your not only supporting Power Women Magazine and Radio Show which is celebrating their second year in Nov but they will offer you a donor link on their website Tea Towels 2 to show that you support their efforts in distributing these pieces throughout women's shelters. Please feel free to spread the word and I hope that many of the Kitten Lounge readers are excited about this effort and can support! Above are super cute Tea Towels to brighten up your kitchen space!
Now I am not one to spend a lot of time in the kitchen; however, today I spent all day there without having to cook a thing! After a fun night out, Niki stayed over and as I sat with my gal pal laughing and talking our way from breakfast straight through to nibbling a late lunch/early dinner. All of this was done as we sat in the kitchen (and I think my boyfriend was pleased to have a true football Sunday) watching Rachel Zoe, Grease and Grease 2! The kitchen table is an essential as it brings everyone together and becomes a home base of sorts for conversation! Above are some great table options that work with various kitchens regardless of how much space you may have. With the holiday season coming up, make sure you're cocktail/dinner party ready for all of your gatherings!
Happy March guys! We've endured the crazy weather and now we just have to pull through this month with it's up and down weather and we'll have made it through the winter! This is the time of year that you begin to realize (why it happens now I don't know) that you have accumulated a lot of stuff that needs to be reorganized! What do you do and how do you do it? I definitely would love to get some tips as we all have our own way of course it always starts off at The Container Store for me.
I remember growing up having Tupperware at home. I believe my mom bought them from someone at work but they were perfect to use at home, to take to parties and so much more. Now that I am moving in with my boyfriend and we are hosting various parties, it made me think of Tupperware when it came time to thinking about keeping our foods fresh. They have so many options when it comes to storage, using it in the microwave, transporting it to and from locations and so much more. Take some time to check out all of the great items that are available and make sure you begin thinking about what you need for the holiday season.
Just the other day (actually the day I went to visit Beam Laser Spa on the UWS), I realized that West Elm was coming into that neighborhood. Typically when I go there I have always gone to the one in Chelsea. Once I saw the announcement regarding the opening, I realized that it had been awhile since I had seen their post. So today, I have a nice gallery of West Elm who has always had a natural vibe. Enjoy these images and think of how you will add a little natural love into your home whether it's in the bedroom, living room or much more.
Whether you are new to the kitchen or you find that that is practically your home, you can always spice it up when you're there. Once you either renovate your space or you head out to Crate and Barrel, Williams- Sonoma and more, the only place to turn to is yourself! Of course you will see yourself perfectly well at Carolyn's Kitchen! I love the fact that there is a lot of vintage, femme glam throughout the aprons. Just like we all have different styles of dress, Carolyn's Kitchen has halter aprons, a bandeau/skirt style and more. In addition, when it comes to cooking, I hate to think about the cleanup but this task even gets a bit of spice thrown in with super cute gloves lined with leopard print. I love that your style can show through with these items. What I love most is the fact that you can have various aprons that are Halloween, Christmas specific and more. Finally, the striped version of the halter dresses have a matching garter with it which definitely makes it have a sexy look to it as well. Check out the fun and flirty aprons that take cooking and cleaning to another level.
Oh the summer ends, fall is on the way and everyone gets into this massive baking/cooking kick. Somehow we think about having people come over so that everyone can enjoy great friends, food and drinks. Or many people think about baking/cooking in terms of possible gifts. Either way, it is always nice to freshen up what you have and to think about what is essential. Anthropologie is one of my favorite places when you think about items for the home and of course when the holidays come up, you know that you can count on them have to cute items that are perfect for presentations when they're on your table or to create great conversation when people watch you cooking with them. If you're all about color and a sense of the eclectic, this is perfect. Take some time to check out some of my favorites that will boost your kitchen, dining areas and of course - you.
The holiday season can be very scary when you think about everything that you have to do and to give out. Sometimes you wonder who the recipient of this gift should be for and how do you get extras in case someone drops by. I'm sure for those that are cooks and bakers, the idea of making something comes natural; however, many of us that look at our kitchens like a myth that emerged into reality. Because of this, we need to definitely place this on our list as a trend to adopt. We have quite a few weeks left so take some time to get cute jars, ribbon, etc to come up with a recipe for cookies that can be layered into the jars. How about coming up with trailmix, a special tea blend or hot cocoa mix? People will love to see that you took the effort to make something tasty while also leaving the container as well. Visit Martha Stewart for recipes and ideas as well.
