We're in the holidays! This is the time of year where we have to really think about maximizing our outfits as we may be at work all day and don't have time to change into or buy something else to go out after work! I love to keep things simple and then to change it up with fab accessories! Trina Turk is one of my favorite designers - yes I'm a fan of hewr swimwear but when it comes to cute outfits to do business in, she has you covered there as well. Who doesn't like the classic sheath dress with an embellishment to give your outfit some character?
Of course, I'm all about the lariat wne this piece which is availabel at Max & Chloe is enough to make your outfit stand out without looking like you went over the top by putting on a bit too much (sometimes when you have embellishments that aren't balanced, you don't want to confuse the eye on where to look! This ring at Topshop is so cute! Does anyone remember Clash of the Titans - I had watched a million times at home and we had to watch it in Middle School - this ring is spot on with the little owl Bubo (They're doing a remake of this and it'll be out next year). To complete this look, how about this Flower Bracelet from Kima Zabete? There are a lot of natural elements within this look overall which is perfect for the fall and yet you look amazing at the same time! As always, the links above can be clicked on!
Did anyone get caught in the random rain that caught us off guard yesterday (ok maybe it didn't take you off guard but the day started out so pretty)? This weather is all about layers or finding the right way to wear fall when it's not to chilly and yet not so warm anymore. I just purchased the grey version of this ruched sweater and I LOVE it. It has a nice look, the perfect neckline and can be dressed up. I too wore a cute scarf and paired it with one of my lariat necklaces; however, this piece from Virgins, Saints and Angels is the perfect compliment. I love how ornate it looks and the line has been one that I have followed over the past few years. A gorgeous necklace deserves to be paired with an awesome ring. I love that this wrapped ring definitely assists you in getting your point across (if you talk with your hands extensively, you'll enjoy this added look) and of course - pair this with jeans. I love my Hudson jeans that are in this dark wash with a faded look. Whether you pair this with heels or ballet flats it has such an easy look that you're always perfectly dressed!
The other day I had a comment on my site that said I was too young to wear Michael Kors. Now MK is the epitome of classic American pieces that work so well with various generations! Yes I recently turned 30 and have been a long time fan of the accessories and many of his dresses have caught my eye. I love that he brings the Audrey to the everyday which is something that I strive for in my outfits on a daily basis! What do I love about this dress? It's simple and so sexy. The ruching is such a feminine element and the color of the material is so whimsical that you're ready for dinner with a significant other, partying in Vegas, taking on a show - this is a basic that EVERYONE should have in their closet! I love that when it hit the runways, it was accessorized in a translucent way which is one way to go but if I wore this I would love to have sterling silver with pops of whatever gemstone I happened to gravitate towards at the time. With all the ruching, I love the idea of pairing it with a lariat and have a cuff that has a little bit of weight as it adds the slightest edge and of course the earrings pick up elements of whimsy while also adding elements of the gemstones again! I know that this dress is a part of his collection that must join the rest of the items in my ever growing closet!
I love the simplicity of summer! There is something to be said for wearing a super cute dress or a tunic over a pair of leggings. It's such a great look while also allowing you to stay cool as the temperatures begin to rise! Don't forget that even a simple and effortless outfit still needs a kick to ensure that you look amazing. Try various pieces from Emily Elizabeth Jewelry. I love the Grecian look that she creates with her pieces from fab lariats to chokers as well. In addition to the necklaces, you'll find that there are bracelets and earrings as well. These little elements will ensure that you'll stand out regardless of where the day or night takes you! My favorite piece, the Geometric Lariat! I think it is truly versatile and I feel that this style allows you to style yourself the way you know how!
It's GORGEOUS out in NY and I already have my cocktail plans for tonight and yet I'm not quite sure about lunch! But what I do know is that I am super excited that with May on the way, one of my biggest events this summer is the American Cancer Society's Pink & Black Tie Gala which will be held at Steinner Studios in Brooklyn. I love that it supports an amazing cause and many people in the fashion, music and entertainment communities are coming together to raise funds for the continual support and research of a plethora of diseases that have affected people. Now, I am excited that I will be donating a new lariat necklace from my line, Kitten Couture (pictures to follow in another post) and that my friend and Brooklyn resident, Crystal Horton, will be supplying cookies from Tasty Morsels Bakery for the goodie bag - which is definitely a treat!
In addition, there are additional auctions such as a swim clinic with Michael Phelps, a Vespa and a Private Customized Tour for Six at the Bronx Zoo. These are just some of the items that have been updated recently and people continue to support whether they are including something to be auctioned or something that will be in one of the many goodie bags. Stacy London of What Not to Wear will be hosting and the entire event will feature local entertainment as well. I love that this Pink and Black theme will be amazing to see in person! I can't wait to see how people incorporate these colors into their color schemes and tickets are still available for this event at $250 - you'll enjoy an amazing dinner, meeting others who are committed to the cause and of course it's a night of dancing as well. I will cover the event and continue to share information with you in addition to Twittering live from the event as well!
Every now and then I like to share what I am working on. Besides putting together content for my blogs and doing PR, I also like to share about info regarding my jewelry line, Kitten Couture. I have to say that wearing it during Fashion Week, I was actually able to get a few orders from people that I just completed. It's nice to know that these lariats made of natural stone and seashell pieces are creating excitement. This summer, I included one of my pieces - Aeryn within the goodie bag of Renee Zellweger's new movie 'My One and Only" out next spring. To know that such notables as Ms Z, Chris Noth, Kevin Bacon and more received these pieces is great! This season I created additional pieces to round out the fall collection and have a few more that will be out this season. In fact, I am currently putting together a fall/resort photoshoot and can't wait to share this with all of you (of course this means new pieces as well). Take some time to check out some fab pieces from Kitten Lounge!
When it comes to the holidays and beyond, we all think about stepping it up a bit. I designed the "Ariana" Lariat (which can be tied around your neck as shown) which is Mother of Pearl, Wooden Beads, and Mother of Pearl with a berry color that's perfect for the holiday season. Available as apart of my jewelry line at Kitten Couture, this is a great gift for yourself or for someone else. Take a peek around the site to see what else is available and of course, there is always something being added as the creative mood strikes. Continue checking back for holiday exclusives which are always nice when you're running around looking for that perfect gift with limited time!
We love hearing from you! Suggestions, ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
