One of my favorite shows is America's Next Top Model. I have had various friends that have appeared on this show and I just love seeing the challenges. My fave challenge - when they were on a building doing amazing shots and the one that skeeved me out, the meat challenge! Anyway, my belief with reality shows in general is that even those that don't come in number one, still win as they have a great opportunity for other companies to pick them up. My other favorite element of ANTM of course is Tyra - enough said! One of the amazing things that she did was create a show within her show The Tyra Show! This show, Modelville allows some of the previous cycle participants to compete for a model contract as a Spokesbeauty for Carol's Daughter. I have been a fan of this beauty brand and as you know, last month, I attended a presentation by founder, Lisa Price. She walked us through the holiday collection and created an aromatic potpurri that arrived just the other day. Throughout The Tyra Show, we have seen Bianca, Renee, Lauren, Dominique and Fatima compete for the $50,000 prize. Today, a winner is chosen! I have to say that Bianca is my favorite! Let me know your thoughts and make sure to tune in!
UPDATE: Dominique won the contract for Carol's Daughter and Renee became the runner up. There is a possibility that she could also work within the brand.
All the planning and tests of endurance and witihin a few days, it's all over! Well the good news is there will be some recapping on Fashion Week next week but we will start to go back to our normal structure. There were a lot of outfits and coverage that made it onto other media outlets which I can't wait to share with you and my lovely sponsors but I don't have the footage and like you, will have to wait for it. When I receive it, I will let you guys know! With that being said I am recovering from Fashion Week and definitely had some parting thoughts and I have a new Fashion Week that I will let you know about shortly that I will be covering which takes place right before the holidays and it's International as well! We are getting the last bolts tied down but I can't wait to share with you.
Fashion Week - I have been to shows before but never seriously covered it in the way that I did this year! It definitely take a lot of planning and there are events that happen prior to, during and after! My big thing was feeling amazing each day and it wouldn't have been possible without starting off the day with my beauty regimine which consisted of Mistral Soap (I used a different one everyday and always smelled amazing - they are a must for any day), Nars Cosmetics (I need to know that I will look amazing and not have to retouch as I was running around all over the place) and Model Co (which kept me fresh with the misting sprays). These were my basic tools that I relied on!
Comfortable but amazing clothing was a must as well - Lauren Conrad's Collection made everyone smile as I went from the tents, suites and off site locations! I can't thank their staff enough and it actually made it live on air in Sacramento since Fox News was at the tents on Friday and a few Japanese magazines (once again, when I get the footage and magazines, I will let you know). Linea Pelle had amazing belts and on the first day and with my outfit from Inhabit, I included it within my look which was amazing. It just goes to show you that you can put your flair in there and still look amazing.
Every now and then I had to take a breather and constantly rework my schedule as I had plans to see one event but would recieve an invitation to another. When covering the shows flexibility is the key! Most important, being able to hang out with people in the industry and to remember that this is an amazing series of days is also key. I have to thank Sam Dark PR and Dashing Diva for not only keeping me amazing in manis and pedis but letting us go back stage to Erin Fetherston and Tony Cohen to see what they do and what it takes to put on such a show. I love you guys and it added so much to this coverage.
Finally, when it was over, yesterday was my birthday and with Lauren Conrad on my back I felt amazing covering the show and then heading out to dinner at Nam with my boyfriend and later to Mocca Lounge. There is nothing like hanging out in Tribeca with the rain, a few friends and your boyfriend. Today, I'm heading out to the beach and working on covering the super secret Fashion Week but it was all worth it and I can't wait to do it all over again in a new location! I have included two images: one is me on the red carpet of the Total Beauty party which kicked off Fashion Week. They had a daily sponsored suite at the Bryant Park Hotel with Chanel, Ted Gibson, Aveda and more. It was nice to meet fellow bloggers and to get away from the madness. You guys throw a great event. The next is last night at Mocca Lounge after a few drinks with Paul our Food Editor and also my boyfriend. Speaking of Food Editor, he was linked on Food Channel so you can learn a bit more about him there!
I made it through the first day. It was a lot of fun and nothing is better than jumping in with both feet and just going with the plan - you know that there isn't really one. I have to say that I was a little tired towards the end and all the running around was making us all a bit sweaty but it wasn't too bad - I had Lauren Conrad, Linea Pelle, Mistral Soaps and Nars Cosmetics to push me to the last bit of energy! Check out my parting words for the end of day one at New York Fashion Week!
I don't know if there is such a thing as Fashion Week Night's Eve but if not, I am making it official! I am so pleased to have every single sponsor that has helped me to be ready for Fashion Week but I must give a shout out to you guys! I am so pleased that for all intensive purposes, Lauren Conrad has dressed me for the entire week! This is not to say that I am not excited about Inhabit NY! I am all about organic and can't wait to share this look with you. Dark Pr, the entire staff has been absoultely amazing and has put me in touch with amazing brands that are making this event that much better. Erika at Nars Cosmetics has made sure that I look very glam and yet true to the way that you would find me when I am out and about. Mistral Soaps is making sure that I start the day smelling amazing so that I can continue from one show to the next. I am so obsessed with this brand and I have to say that they have been amazing in allowing me to sample various items that I can't wait to share with you each day! Fashion Week for better when I had the most relaxing session at Dashing Diva last night! Thank you so much for the mani/pedi which will ensure that I look amazing and thanks for allowing me to get to know you guys - no matter where I am, I can always find time to make my way to the 15th and 3rd Ave location! This is not my first time attending the shows, but it is my first time in doing the coverage and in such a spread out fashion but I can't wait for your feedback and for you to see the amazing videos as well! Finally, via the power of Twitter and just going to events, I am glad to increase my knowledge of those that are in the blogging and related spheres that have become my friends and have helped me to hone my skills and to see beyond my own vision of what I would like to do - I look forward to continue to work and share with you.
The other day I was watching a current season of The Hills, you know the episode where Lauren went to Stephanie's birthday party. I love the dress that Lauren wore by Twinkle! The blue and yellow work so well together and I love the whimsical elements of this dress that make you feel like you're ready for whatever party you're about to head out to! So once I saw this dress, I decided to head over to ShopBop.com to see if they carried it and they do! This dress, known as 'The Last Call' is too cute to pass up and is definitely on my list of musts to get!
So last night I was organizing my Fashion Week coverage as I wanted to make sure that I had lots of goodies to share and I thought about a lot of the work that is involved in such an undertaking. Even more so, it's amazing when you reach out to great brands that also want to be apart of the experience as well! Of course, it's great to get emails and comments from you guys that are excited to see the coverage. It just made me really giddy as I know that the days will be long but it will be a fun experience to share with all of you! So in that light, I wanted to say thank you to those who are supporting when you hear me talking about the shows, how I should cover it and what I want to do in terms of my video project that I will be doing! Thanks to other bloggers and community mavens that have provided tips, info etc to be more prepared. I don't want to leave anyone out so I will say "you know who you all are!" and finally I have some amazing sponsors that typically would be in my sidebar but I am having some slight issues and I want everyone to see them even if they were in the sidebar! Check them out as they are going above and beyond and are ensuring that this will be successful - THANK YOU EVERYONE!
I am definitely obsessed with Yorkie's and making sure that mine will be super cute once I get it. I got a link for Ralph Lauren's pup collection and I am in love. Of course I emailed my sister and said that I would pick her up a cute shirt for Jimmy Choo! I love that they are having a great sale so how could you not? Even if your pup couldn't stand wearing clothing it would make a cute one time picture at the very least. I love that this polo shirt is so cute and could so see my bf wearing a Polo to match with our puppy when we get him. Now, when it comes to my personal favorite that is apart of Ralph's collection (don't you love that we are on a first name basis - or at least I am), I like to think of when the little guy is in the cold when he needs to visit the outside facilities to do his business!
I am a huge fan of grey and I love that I won't have to fight with the sweatshirt to feed his leash through as this has a discreet hole that it can be fed through. This is such a sporty little look and works well with my hoodie and yoga pants! Once again, you should definitely guage whether your puppy would actually like this look but if he does, this would be the cutest thing ever! I am so getting the sweatshirt in hopes that my puppy will enjoy it and if not at least I will have something super cute to look at! I think I enjoy all the details that are put into it the most!
This week's pic of Jimmy Choo is when he was a little smaller but definitely just as spunky now as he was back then! How cute is he - how funny that this was in May and already he looks so different! I think that JC could be a Doggie model he definitely has a little attitude!
There are so many ways that we can assist others that I love sharing certain organizations that I feel is something that you should know about! Lauren Bush is seen here (picture courtesy of AP) posing with the bags that are apart of the Feed 1 Initiative (yes she did in fact design these bags) in London. I love that the bags are reversible so you can take this so many areas without wondering if it might get a little dirty. She aims to raise awareness and funds for the United Nations World Food Programmers. By doing so, funds raised from this go towards children that are hungry and in need of attending school as well. These bags are 100% organic fair trade and they provide lunch for a year for one child! How amazing is this and of course you can learn more by visiting the website and get a bag of your own as well for under $60!
We love hearing from you! Suggestions, ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
Please send all food related questions to Paul, spa and wellness items to Keren and all other queries to Kimmie.
