Treasure Tuesdays: Events ~ Lingerie FW

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Lingerie FW which kicked off Fri night with a runway show, contained 2 presentations that were multibranded on Saturday and closed with a runway show by Affinitas Intimates and Parfait on Sat with a closing party at the Metropolitan Pavilion. With a premise on the importance of having a series of shows focused on the lingerie industry, it was a great way to see a number of designers within the underpinnings world. In addition, those who relaxed in the lounge were also able to become familiar with brands that are within the lingerie industry but not the garments themselves - Soak (which is detergent that ensures to keep your clothes fresh without having harmful soaps that can irrate them) displayed their product at the event as well as a number of publications.

Treasure Tuesdays ~ National Bubble Bath Day

Sometimes there is nothing better then a day of beauty that takes place at home! Don't get me wrong, a spa day is fun when you can go to your favorite salon and have a number of treatments done. Even though you enjoy their relaxation rooms, there is always something about having to emerge back to the streets and then to head out to whatever you have for the day! Sometimes it's best to have a spa day at home when you know you're schedule is clear and you can do a number of things just for you and then relax in the comfort of your four walls! In honor of National Bubble Bath Day (yes this very day), there's a fab spread and to show how much this day means - I wanted to share how historic the act of bathing can be! In Ancient Rome, citizens bathed daily at the Roman baths, which often included a soak in the caldarium (hot tub), some detoxing in the laconicum (sauna), finished with a refreshing swim in the frigidarium (cold pool) - obviously spaing is an essential without question.

Anything worth doing should be done fabulously! So when you opt to have a fun day spaing, you should definitely dress for the occasion. After emerging from your shower or your bathtub (we suggest Neutrogena's Rainbath Renewing Shower and Bath Gel which is in pear and green tea), we suggest this simple La Perla cami with this fabulous Carine Gilson decadent robe which allows you to be able to tackle a number of other spa treatments or simply to relax. These Havaianas with crystal mesh allow you to continue to relax in the luxury by having a bit of bling. Finally, keep your hair out of your face within this Missoni lurex headband! Enjoy this national day whether you get to have an entire day or just an hour or so!

Trendy Thursdays ~ We Love & Like Kiki De Montparnasse

It's about looking chic even when you emerge (or opt not too) from your boudoir! It's about finding a number of items from apparel to play things that allow you to enjoy your nights or days and at the end of it, it's all about you! Kiki De Montparnasse is one of my favorite boutiques and if you happen to be in Soho, you absolutely have to pop into their store which is super transforming whether you go alone, with friends or your significant other. It's absolutely an experience from the time you walk in, to walking the store and even when you make your purchase (I love how you get to create a style profile under your name which definitely helps for future gifting purchases)!

From now until June 22nd, when you visit Kiki De Montparnasse's Facebook Page, you can "Like" their page, post your favorite Love Quote and get your friends to "Like" your quote for the "In the Name of Love" contest! You could win a luxurious lingerie set as a first prize winner which is the delish Soleil Demi Bra and Panty! Two runners up will receive a Kiki De Montparnasse Massage Candle which is decadent and everyone who enters will have their quotes placed on the brands Facebook AND Twitter Page - @KikiDM! Definitely sign up and see other quotes that are written in the name of love!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Under Glam

With the warm weather coming, we know that it's important to think about all the maxis, shorts and more that you will be stocking up on this summer - but don't forget about your undergarments! These are your important things that should be updated as well. It's all about fun pops of color and cool neutrals. Above are brands that I have been a fan of for quite awhile as well as one that is new to me but a must! Coobie is the most necessary portion in my wardrobe although they have a number of bras, I love their bandeau bras that are available in various colors. I live in strapless maxis long and short and on days where you'd like some support as well as padding (which you can also remove) - this is definitely of interest to the looks that you'll rock. Hanky Panky is known for their soft colors and I'm loving that they have their 25th anniversary boxed set of thongs, the one included here is for their Low Rise group. Cosabella has extended itself beyond lingerie and intimates with embracing jeans and apparel. Although I love it, I do love their Sexie Push Up Bra which is a must in my wardrobe and as I tend to lean towards black bras, it's nice to have a few in nude as well. Finally, I love Chemises slips and babydolls - Eberjey is a no brainer here. When I am working from home, I tend to wear these as they are comfortable and with the summer coming, this is an essential!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Hamptons Bound

As you're reading this, I'm on the way to the Hamptons for a weekend in Sag Harbor courtesy of OnStar! You'll get to see me do a number of fun things during a fall weekend in the Hamptons! While I love the fall, I'm so excited about being able to think about the holidays with all the amazing things that are going on right now. Throughout this month we have focused on Breast Cancer Awareness products. I think Sundays are all about relaxation so if you happen to be at SideBAR, Village Pourhouse and Hudson Terrace then you should order their Pinktini Cosmos 50% of the cost will go back to support Breast Cancer Awareness. I love that when you do something that works for you, it helps others. Whether you're in the mode to relax for drinks or simply need to relax, this weekend is all about looking amazing while totally pampering yourself. I love this kimono that is paired with Betsey Johnson's babydoll thong and of course topped out with the perfect ring. I don't know about you but, it's going to be a super busy week where I need every ounce of energy so just make sure you rest up - welcome to the Dollhouse Baby!

Fashionable Fridays ~ #KLTweetOut Wrap Up Gets Sexy

Oh yeah! #KLTweetOut got super sexy this week - maybe the fact that CurveNV took place out in Vegas had something to do with it? As a former lingerie model, I was super happy to have two brands involved within this week's #KLTweetOut! So for those that need a little background (and you can also see some of our previous #KLTweetOuts here), this is a method of sharing amazing brands not only on the weekly post each Friday but through our Social Networks! This way, your brand's site and networks get introduced to out and hopefully you have news eyes and followers! We use the hashtag so that you can search who is apart of this as it begins each Mon and concludes on Sun. Every week, there's a new brand and for those brands that participate, you can do as many weeks as you wish. If you'd like to get involved, find out right here!

So this week we brought bling with Calico Juno Designs! I've known about this brand for quite some time and they have been featured in Brides Magazine as well as The Knot! Whether you select a piece that you find on their website or create their own, they have a number of colors to add some pop into your wardrobe!.

I was so excited to be introduced to The Bra Fit Expert! I feel that undergarments are always an area where people have questions and yet where do you go? In addition to getting your questions answered, you can also purchase bras, panties and more! Follow them on Twitter at @TheBraFitExpert as well as their Facebook Fan Page so that you can find out about new items that are hitting their site as well as events!

Cake Lingerie hit the CurveNV tradeshow this past week from the 16th - 18th, you may have seen that their hashtag was @KLCurveNVTweetOut as we shared info about their booth. What I love about this Australian based lingerie company is that they will be in quite a few stores in the US and they ensure that women who are mommies to be as well as nursing have no excuse when it comes to looking sexy! From bras, undies and lingerie they have fab items! In addition, when you are gifting these items, I love that it comes in a cake box with rose petals! I'm nowhere near having a child but I have attended baby showers and would definitely gift this in a heartbeat! Follow this luscious brand on Twitter at @CakeLingerie and then follow them on their Facebook Fan Page as they have a number of amazing pieces here!

You'll still hear some tweets through now and the end of the weekend and of course, we can't wait to share some fab tweets starting next week! If you're interested in having your brand involved, definitely let us know!

Sippin Saturdays ~ Keeping It Luscious: Your Sensual Life

My early memories involve us bumping into one another at the tents of NY Fashion Week, tech events and anything glam and amazing. We would tell our life stories in a matter of minutes or maybe a few hours! To know her is to be drawn to her and recently I love that we have been able to hang out more! If you heard my radio interview with her earlier this year then you know that Shoshi (Yolanda Shoshana) is the Modern Day Courtesan and Luscious Lifestyle Diva! She teaches us how to still retain our natural sexiness and how to initiate it in a world where many times our focuses are all over the place. Bi weekly she will share her sexy insights with us and I'm so happy that she is on board! In keeping with her name, her segments are Keeping it Luscious! Last week she laid out a fab plan to maintain sexiness in our relationships. Today we look at ways that we can be aware as well as to do a number of things that maintain sensuality for ourselves and others!

When we are young, we are taught about the five senses and how important they are. As we get older, it becomes a bit harder to stay in tune with our senses because we are a society on the go, plus for some reason there are times when we hold back because we worry about what other people may think.

Remembering to take time to please the senses can change your life. Here are six things to arouse your senses for pleasure which lead to a luscious life!

Feast on Aphrodisiacs- Aphrodisiacs are foods that are thought to lead to more sexual desire and arousal. There is something extremely decedent about these foods. Not to mention, some believe they can really spice things up during foreplay and during the real deal in the bedroom. Some noted aphrodisiacs are strawberries, honey, green tea, and oysters. It is quite easy to incorporate aphrodisiacs into your daily life. Don’t you think it is time to play with your food?

Scent- Do you have a signature scent? I always recommend for a woman to have a signature scent that makes people think of her. It is one of the reasons I started making perfume oil, because I am such a firm believer in the power of scent. Scent has always been written about for having the power to attract people into our lives. The scent you choose should be a unique scent, not the same perfume that everyone else is wearing. Search for something different that leaves the right touch of you as you saunter away.

Make a Mixed CD- Make a mixed CD of your favorite songs so that you can pop it in whenever you need a pick me up, you feel joy, or just because. Music is magical for setting a mood, so have a mixed CD for every mood. If it is not music that does it for you, think about what you like to listen to that brings you please and pop that on a CD.

Try Tantric Massage- A massage can be erotic, but add tantra in the mix to unleash a surge of sexual energy. The purpose of tantric massage is awaken the kundalini, a very intense and healing form of energy that is lying dormant at the base of the spine. The kudalini draws out sexual energy in the body. Sexual energy is creative energy and vice versa.

Get luscious lingerie- Toss your old tired cotton panties and step up your game with sexy lingerie made from silk, satin, or lace. Wearing it under your clothes will make you feel sexy and confident. Also, go for a sexy piece that would not be typical for you to wear. You will walk with a new sexy spring in your step, plus it will feel wonderful against your skin.

Follow your desires- Desires are your friend. They are the things that nudge you toward your dreams and goals. Listen to your desires because it is your soul talking to you about which path you should follow. Do not stifle yourself; it will only make you unhappy. All of your desires mean something; it is up to you to listen.

Be open- Last but not least, being open to try things in your life will give you pleasure. It gives you chances for spontaneity, creativity, and is way more fun. It also allows you to feel free to as you experience new things, places, and people.

Yolanda Shoshana “Shoshi” is a media personality, courtesan coach, sensualist, speaker, writer living in New York City known as the Luscious Lifestyle Diva. Self growth and following her bliss has always been a key part of her life. Shoshi followed her entrepreneur spirit by starting a lifestyle company that engages the senses to help people live lusciously. The services include: courtesan coaching™,workshops/classes, pleasure planning, image consulting, empowerment through media, wedding officiating, etc. She is the founder of the School of Courtisane Moderne, a modern day courtesan school which teaches women the art of seduction. Mingling Mondays ~ Lingerie Hits the Catwalk

The month of Feb went by in a flash; however, it was definitely packed with a number of shows that truly tested the endurance of those covering what was going on in fashion. I realized I had access to a video that would be a great way to kick off Mon when you're still wondering where the weekend went! Of course, there was NYFW, but many of us headed to Las Vegas to Cover such fashion tradeshows as Project, Workroom, Magic and more. Back in NY, there was Coterie and CurveNY. CurveNY is right up there with my love for the Accessories Show. CurveNY (and it's sister CurveLV) is a trade only lingerie tradeshow which also includes swimwear as well as an increased presence within men's wear. What I love most about it is that although I can spend a chunk of my day hitting the booths, I'm always excited about their runway show to see everything come together. Here is the recent show that took place in NYC a few weeks ago. Not only are such brands as Affinitas Intimates and Hanky Panky featured, but other brands as well! Yet another reminder that as we freshen up our wardrobes, we can't forget our lingerie!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Decorate Your Pink Parts

No I'm not being cheeky (as this is a tagline) and yet I have a story. A few months ago, I was told about the cutest lingerie store through a friend. I think I may have visited the website or saw a picture and as things go sometimes, I was never able to research it for myself. Fast forward to the past few weeks when I decided to plan a decadent event with a friend. As life would have it, I had lunch with another friend, Franco Lacosta who said "I know of an amazing store that you should check out". As soon as he said Sugar Cookies, I had to stop him as I was positive that I knew of the store and after taking a walk around the corner, the picture in my mind was confirmed by what I saw!

As a former lingerie models, this is my second favorite portion of my outfit (I do have a passion for accessories). With my love for it, I have yet to find a cute boutique that carries various brands and feels like your own home! Here at Sugar Cookies, you walk into a store that feels like your friend's loft that has all the lingerie you could ever imagine as well as the feel of hanging out in someone's home. You feel like you're in a chic boudoir and that Carrie herself may be running in with Charlotte or Samantha to explain some misunderstanding between herself and Big! When I popped by, I was greeted by Susanne (one of the owners) and her super cute and friendly dog, Kodi! With this store being open for the past two years, this is one that should be on our list when we're out and about to do a little shopping. I am now obsessed with this store and definitely feel that if you're in NYC, you must come here as well. I can't wait until their e-commerce takes off as I can only assume that their e-home will have the same cozy effect!

In the coming months, you will hear more about this super cute boutique on the Kitten Lounge but for now, I wanted to introduce you and to encourage you to drop by!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Sensual Season

This season is about more than gathering with friends and exchanging gifts, it's also a time to think about what you want and need! I love the holiday season as it makes you cozy up with your significant other or allows you to find the special someone. Ensuring that your closet is ready for all of your activities, make sure to stock up on fab lingerie which is perfect for viewing or enjoying as you get dressed to go to work each day. Want to know how to strut like a model? It's hard to do the walk without some great shoes in your undies so that it gives you the maximum oomph! Finally please accessorize, add a fun series of jewelry to your lingerie and make sure you smell like the amazing woman that you know you are! The holidays are about changing your next season and why not add your love of lingerie to this list?

Fashionable Fridays ~ My Something Comfortable

What a busy week and my weekend is pretty busy too! But it's the holiday season, we'll be out of the house more than we're in it and even when we are in it, we will have many people over so when you have quiet time, enjoy it! Last week I was introduced to Lavinia Firenze (you know I love intimates and this week I seem to keep finding ways to talk about it) - if you are a fan of La Perla, you will love knowing that this is yet another exclusive lingerie line that is not only very high in quality but I love that it's not as commercial and they have gorgeous pieces. I'm a fan of a cute top with little bottoms and I love the lace and other details. It's so femme and whimsical that it makes you think about just hanging out at home whether you just got out of the bath or plan on just lounging in bed with some tea! Of course every now and then you may want to run to the door or to knowck the chill off - I'm also a fan of Natori (I visited their booth at the Curve Show this past Aug in Las Vegas) and this robe has such a powerful zen about it that I would love to add this to my collection!

When it's hectic, I need to get some calm and Godiva's candles that smell just like their yummie chocolates is a nice way to transport yourself someplace else! Of course, one of my favorite magazines which is no longer with us, was Domino. I love planning for the home and although the holidays encourages me to get many of my items together, it also signals the fact that I need to get ready for the spring and summer when I have even more events at home then the holiday season. This book is still an excellent resource and what a great way to enjoy the peace of your home with something comfortable, a fabulous scent and ideas of the future?

Wearable Wednesdys: Make Sure Your Undies Are Hip

Valentine's Day is literally around the corner and although you may be expecting surprises why not something that works for you? When we were little we used to have undies that had the days of the week. I remember that there was one that I had for Wednesday with a rainbow and icecream cone and I couldn't wait to wear them. But like everything, when we're older, we need to find ways to update what makes us happy. So I visited a great one stop undie shop known as Hip Undies! Not only do they carry Cosabella, Eberjey, Betsey Johnson Lingerie, etc but they carry Marry Green. I have to say that I didn't know about the brand but they have been featured in Life & Style and they have a great presentation for your undies. You'll be able to keep everything in cute satchels and if you get all the sets, you'll be able to tell them apart, Whether it's thongs, boyshorts, etc you'll still get excited about wearing your favorite day!

Treasure Tuesdays: From Miami to Italy

A lot of areas are my weaknesses so it's hard to say which one I lean towards; however, lingerie is my top 5 wothout a doubt! Not only do I love it but I love supporting brands that are based out of Miami! Cosabella is based out of Miami and is made in Italy (I would say this is a luxurious combination)! I love the various collections that really embrace the personalities through women as lingerie is something that definitely says a lot about you or what you're truly thinking. If that doesn't convince you, then you should also know that Cosabella has made various pieces in honor of Sex and the City which is all about 4 personality filled women who learn about their lives and continue to empower themselves. A little birdy tells me that there is a definitely a second movie and that they will be contributing yet again!v This officially puts Cosabella on my radar as I love the brand but I also love its involvement.

Now with it being Valentine's Day soon, it's important to think about a gift to give or something that you want to give yourself! Whether it's meant for another's eyes or something that will make you feel great after a long day, Cosabella is definitely a brand that will work well in setting you apart from others while putting you in the best light possible!

Mingling Mondays: Agent Provocateur

I love it! Yesterday I talked about S Factor and today I'm all about one of my favorite lingerie lines. For those of you that may or may not know, I used to do fit work for a few lingerie brands and although I never did this for this brand, I love how amazing they are! So this week I'm all about Valentine's Day and sharing the best of what I know in terms of great things that are good for the day and beyond! Agent Provocateur is one of my favorite lingerie stores and this is defintiely something that you should consider when thinking about expanding this portion of your closet. In addition to having an instore or an online presence in terms of shopping, there is also a blog called Hello Agent Provocateur! Not only do they talk about one of my favorite subjects but they also talk about a lot of items that are in pop culture. Currently they have posts about Daniel Craig's new movie (yum), the fact that we should wait to see "He's Just Not That Into You" (we all need a movie night at home) and so much more. Also, for those on Twitter, you should also check them out at msprovocateur!

Treasue Tuesdays: NYFW SS2009 ~ Victoria's Secret Presentation

During Fashion Week, there are so many activities that extend beyond runway shows and parties. It's a time for everyone to present what you can expect in upcoming seasons. As many of you know, I began my entry into the fashion world doing showroom modeling for intimate apparel. So when I had the opportunity to visit Victoria's Secret to see what was in store for this holiday, this was definitely a presentation that I was interested in. First, I was pleased to see some interesting images of the new store that will open on Lexington Ave. This new store makes me think that Audrey Hepburn would love to shop here due to many of the touches that will be added to this store - I can't wait to see it this holiday season!

The two main areas that Victoria's Secret focused on were updated looks of classic pieces that we enjoy from this brand and then of course rebranding their beauty items. In the world of intimates, I was pleased to see that there is a heightened attention to detail in terms of trim which makes the pieces even more interesting to the eye. In addition, I love the focus of lounge items that can be worn out or at least in small gatherings of people that may come over. A lot of these looks maintain that sense of attainable luxury and will definitely keep this brand on shoppers minds!

In the realm of beauty, there are various focuses. I love that there are product extensions of the Heavenly Angels brand! I remember that I loved wearing these in college and I always have a bottle for the days that I don't wear other perfumes that I have collected through time. I love that there has been a focus of repackaging on certain pieces which will present such a clean image and will allow the pieces to look just as amazing with Nars Cosmetics, MAC or whoever you happen to be carrying. I can't wait for Heidi Klum's line to hit stores where you will see some of the things that she loves to use. Finally, I love that the home is also tackled! With soaps, scents and more this is a perfect way to bring Victoria's Secret into your lifestyle!

Combined, this seems like a great way to enhance your closet in the upcoming season and in termsof holiday shopping, this is something that should be on your list. Speaking of shopping, as we left we received gift cards. I am always pleased to have a nice gift card; however, this had my name on it! For those that don't know what to get or have always wonder about whether it was appropriate, who wouldn't want to have their name on this card! It shows that time was taken and that you feel that they should have a hand in what they want to give themselves. Although this will be offered in select stores, this is perfect to think about when gifting or doing stocking stuffers! I really appreciate the time that was taken in walking me through various concepts and hope that I can continue to share these items with you!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ I Love Spreegirl

SpreegirlA few months ago, I was introduced to Spreegirl at an Editor's event and I have to say that since that time, I have been hooked on this super cute sleepwear brand. It has gone with me on a lot of trips with friends, meeting other designers and so much more. Spreegirl's philosophy is that you should be fashionable at all times and that it can be carried into bed time. I actually have a super cute gingham set that's a tank top and boy shorts much like the one the model is wearing in the picture. I love that it's super girly while having a bit of a spice in there too. In the end, it's a fun LA line that you should start introducing to your closets!

Fortunately, if you view the site, you can also get a sneak peek into what is available for this fall which is just as great as their spring and summer line as well. Take some time to check out the collection and if you're looking to purchase them, then you should check out such sites as Yandy.com and Revolver Clothing.

Wearable Wednesdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Belabubum

GardenpartycamitangaThere are times when you want to lounge around your apartment and then maybe slip on jeans and a zippie to pick something up so that you can go back home. It may be the weekend or just some day in the week when you needed to take time for yourself! I say that this can be done in this super cute cami set by one of my favorite lingerie labels - Belabumbum! Yes we are in the final days of THINK CITRUS and fortunately, there are designers out there who are infusing this fragrant scent into their lines. I love the Garden Floral cami set and as sweet as it is, the citrus vibe is a welcoming look since it blends so well. I think this outfit puts you in the state of mind to relax and to ensure that you are properly being taken care of. Make sure you check out all the amazing finds on this site and when done - you'll want to order some great items that will make sure that your closet and drawers continue to look amazing and renewed.

Wearable Wednesdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Smarties

SmartassSo we all know that this month we have been focusing on THINK CITRUS - I definitely wanted to include this in here as well (maybe I am thinking of this as more of a "grapefruit" element). I love camis and boy bottoms. I think they're so cute to wear around the house but you can also wear the top out over a pair of jeans (you can also think about wearing this under a cute blazer as well). Anyway,  when I was out at Project, Accessories Show and the Lingerie show in Las Vegas, I received emails from the amazing ladies of Smart Ass Intimates who created such an amazing collection of pieces.

I love the old world style of this piece -  known as the Eurotrash Camisole Black Scroll and how cute it looks. I love how sheer this is and how it definitely has sexy elements to it. In addition, when you visit the site, check out their signature thongs that have quite a few cheeky phrases that are definitely going to bring a smile as you prepare to set about your day.

Mingling Mondays ~ Support R is for Retail

Traditionally on "Mingling Mondays", I like to talk about a great restaurant or event since mingling is all about coming together and exchanging ideas - what better way to do this then with food and something to look at? But I have to say that earlier this week I read something that made me want to share it with you and to provide my thoughts on this subject. It would be unfair for me to provide this exchange without including an excerpt of the original which will be listed below in italics. A friend of mine who runs a showroom here in the city sent this out to her buyers and I thought that it was not only brave but a view that I believe in as a designer and something that is uplifting for all of us!

As many of you know, I work for a luxury sportswear brand and earlier this year as I sat in our Sales Meeting we discussed the fact that due to the current economical situation and it being an election year that it was going to be a tough one. Brands would survive and stores would still buy but the fact is that to maintain (or obtain your place if you're trying to break in) your place you would have to work harder to be considered as 1 of 8 options as opposed to 1 of 10. Ultimately, it would be a matter of taking someone else's share in order to increase your own. That can be seen as something scary but I like to think of it as an opportunity.

I spent an entire week at Vegas for Project, Magic, Lingerie Show and the Accessories Show. Not only did I go to see friends that I knew but also those that were new designers. It is my belief that for those of us that are still scratching to get out there, that this is the time to show how we are different! As I walked the show floors there were a variety of buyers out there and although we can complain that buyers should be looking for those of us that are different, we have to ask ourselves "Are we going out there and showing our angle on style?" In order for buyers to take a chance on what we bring to the table, we need to believe in ourselves and take that step as well. Presenting a variation of what has already been done will only make your intended target pass over your work and purchase items from the designer that has already established themselves in that niche.

As the designer and owner of Kitten Couture, I must say that there have been times that I have been slightly frustrated that people like my pieces but they don't feel that it's the look they are going for in their store's product mix; however, it is that difference that will set me apart. I use this analogy when you decide to present a product: "You have to decide do you want to be Mc Donald's where it is available wherever you look or do you want to be Ritz Carlton?" Both of these places are coveted spots but it is a matter of whether you want to position yourself everywhere or would you rather have a smaller point of distribution and be more exclusive? I choose the Ritz Carlton school of thought and I choose to maintain my way of designing since it is times like these that someone may be more willing to take a risk and present their customers with new looks in their store. It is my opinion that even in the bad times, there are those that succeed and those of us that have been out there for a few years trying to get noticed - this is when we need to push so that next year we are considered by more individuals. I highlight Ziordia who is not only a designer who I respect because she worked in the handbag industry but I am encouraged by her passion and efforts to get her line out there and that she continues to stay true to her concepts. It wasn't easy but to initially see her in her showroom and then to see her doing so well at Project, this encouraged me.

To become noticed or to increase our share in the market, it is going to require that as designers we come together and get creative! Maybe this means we decide to combine our contacts and come up with trunk shows and shopping events. We look for ways that we do photoshoots that we incorporate our pieces together. I am always open to options (I am always looking for people to put on here at Kitten Lounge and also on See Pretty Things) and if I can help you directly or pass you on to someone else who can - that just makes it better for all of us! Tough year yes but it is not a year that will go by with only those known labels making successes. This is an open letter to all of us out there to continue to make strides because we are not that far away and although there are those preaching brace ourselves for the worse I am saying brace ourselves for the unexpected and access to areas that we couldn't have believed simply because we chose to take a stand, maintain our innovation and we didn't stop pushing forward.

Original Excerpt from My Friend
R is for RETAIL!Stop reading all the bad news out there. How many national   shows since early January [10 ]did we all hear the R word discussed. This   is just FEBRUARY!!!

This is going to be a very challenging retail year.
But,   one that still brings opportunities and niches to fill.

As store buyers and   owners, you have to really shop and open your eyes to everything. Travel,   surf the web, review the fashion magazines, click on to the fashion runway   shows...and at the retail level, what is truly important is giving "perceived   value" in the items you buy. You need to understand how much more   profitable an item business will continue to be and how margin builders   is this year's mantra. A proven basic: You have to give   the customer a "reason to buy"
