Swoonfest Saturdays: Accessories Teaser ~ Love, Alex

It's not often that I tease you with a brand but today - you're getting teaser. As an Accessories Expert, I'm always checking out new pieces whether it's for this site, styling my clients or even filling my own closets. Love, Alex is a decadently luxury handbag line that is more then an accessory to complete whatever look you're going for. Pictured above are portions of the Spring collection (their first season that they have ever shipped) and I had the pleasure of seeing their fall collection which is PHENOMENAL. With that said, in a few days, I will follow up with another post that will not only share the upcoming Fall collection of python and mink handbags that range from $1,500 and above BUT also an exclusive interview with the designer herself, Alex Clancy (oh yes, this would be author Tom Clancy's wife - she is also the daughter to the iconic J. Bruce Llewellyn who was a prominent business man, one of the founders of 100 Black Men of America and majority shareholder of the Philadelphia Coca-Cola Bottling Company). Since inception, Love, Alex has made significant contributions to Donors Choose.org - a philanthropic organization that supports children's education nationally, and will continue to donate proceeds of sales as the brand grows. More to follow!

Snazzy Sundays: Awards Season 2013 ~ SAG Awards Julie Bowen

I love when stars rock fabulous looks and it seems so true to their personal image! Julie Bowen of ABC's Modern Family looked amazing in Johanna Johnson in a black leather gown (on trend) with embellished cap sleeves from their Spring Summer 2013 Red Carpet Collection. I'm obsessed with this designer and I always love when looks that hit the runway, make it onto the red carpet. Although I love how it looked when it was presented, I do like how Julie made it her own. As always, I let you know how you can get the beauty look as this is perfect for NYFW, Valentine's Day or anytime you want to step it up! All of these items can be obtained at Avon as you know I love sharing finds from here as I am a Brand Ambassador for the brand. As more updates of this look are known, this post will be updated.

Makeup artist Heather Currie complemented Julie’s stunning sultry black leather dress with a subtly sexy cat eye and a soft, romantic pink lip. Here are Heather's steps to get the look:

Face

Currie kept Julie’s skin looking dewy and fresh by applying Avon Be Blushed Cheek Color in Powder Pink on the apples of her cheeks.

Eyes

Currie used Avon Irresistibly Sexy Eyeshadow Palette in Bombshell to bring depth and smokiness to Julie’s eyes and add a little shimmer to pick up the glimmer on the jewel's on Julie's dress.

The inner rims of Julie's eyes were lined with Avon Glimmersticks Eyeliner in Cosmic Brown, and the tops of her eyelids with Avon Ultra Luxury Eyeliner in Black. She then smudged the black liner into Julie’s eyeshadow to create a subtle cat eye and finished the look with a coat of black Mascara.

Lip

In order to create a romantic lip that would complete Julie’s look, Currie swiped two coats of Avon's NEW Totally Kissable lipstick in Lovey Dovey on Julie’s lips. No gloss was used in order to keep the lip color soft and rich at the same time.

Treasure Tuesdays: What We've Logged In ~ Shays Accessories

At any given time, I'm always waiting for packages whether it's a beauty set that I have been thinking of working into a piece, accessories that I am looking to wear for a number of events and various clothing options for upcoming events. I couldn't tell you how much time is spent logging in items whether it's samples that stay, those that will be here for a set time or "options". All of it gets placed in a spreadsheet so that we can organize when everything will make its way to the site depending on the Editorial Calendar. Our new segment, "What We've Logged In" gives you a peek into what we will be sharing on the site later and what we brought in. Although every item will not be included within this post, I'll select our fave within the past week or a fab piece I've been excited to get!

A few weeks ago I was introduced to Bonfaire and as an Accessories Expert, I can say that if you're looking for a site where your favorite luxe brands or those that you are not familiar with but will grow to be your fave, then this is the site to do it. More importantly, when you order items, you will get to do so in advance and get it at the designated season. In November, I selected a number of items and was eager to get this fabulous Pave Gunmetal bracelet ($495) that has a chunky links which are so trend from Shay Accessories!

As a side note, every so many weeks a number of designers are offered within a window of time. Each designer has a different delivery. A number of designers in November were offering items with a Spring/Summer delivery and yet there are times when something if offered that has a much closer window! After selecting the item you like, you have to pay a deposit of 50% and when the item is available and ready to ship, you pay the other half of the deposit.

I knew this would be a signature piece and you will see it in action later on this week as I will attend a private performance of a play. It's a lot of will power to purchase in November and not to get it until Jan but the day arrived (now I will be anticipating a super cute bag I purchased in Nov with a delivery of March)! As many of us are familiar with subscription boxes and other flash sale sites, I wanted to know what to expect from Bonfaire as this company has only been available since summer/fall of 2012.

As I opened the box, I love that there was a envelope with my name attached to the box with brown tissue paper. In addition, this note was handwritten and also acknowledged that this was the first item that I had received from them. Now many times I receive handwritten notes and there is something personal about me in it; however, these are typically because they are coming from a PR firm. Regardless of whether you're media or not, each person will receive a personal note on their first purchase and I will let you know about the second item and how that is!

My fab bracelet came in a branded brown box with a cream flat bow wrapped around it.

Sitting on its little jewelry pillow (not the technical name but that's what I call it) is my new gunmetal bracelet that I am sure you'll see me wearing!

Such a fabulous piece and I couldn't wait to snap a few pics. This bracelet has a nice wait and although I was taking quick images with my camera phone, when it's directly in the light, it sparkles and definitely has a luxe look.

If you have yet to sign up for this service, you definitely need to check it out and see which designers are there. Visit Bonfaire to set up your account and thanks to the fashionable team there, they will give you $100 credit which you can use towards the purchase of your next treasure! Note that there are a number of items that are always changing as well as brands have various price points so you never know what you will find and at the time of purchase, you are only playing a 50% deposit down. It's a great way to build your accessories wardrobe right in time for the season that you're most likely to wear it in! Since I have another item coming in a few weeks, I will keep you updated - but it's always nice getting something in the mail that you can't wait to wear!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Fisker Karma Chic

For $100,000, fashion and sustainability come together when it comes to crusiing around in the eco Fisker Karma. Such celebs as Alicia Keys have been sporting these around town and when I think of hanging out in one of my fave hotspots (I've already been thinking of my mid season break when the temperatures become truly challenging), this car and bikinis go hand in hand in South Beach, Miami. Whether you're rocking out and staying at the Delano or are cruising Ocean Drive, there is only way to make this look amazing!

Your fabulous look comes together within Vix swimwear with an Ella bandeau top and faux leather trimmed bikini briefs. Cover it up with Roberto Cavalli's animal print kaftan. This look is further accessorized with Jimmy Choo (my essential go to when it's for a night out or a day for your feet to truly be on display) Pekabo Cork platform which are black and gold! Finally, this fab haircalf handbag by Saint Laurent is the ultimate in chic!

Snazzy Sundays: Shoe Week NYFW SS2013 ~ Aiisha Couture

Many people know that I am a huge fan of Aiisha Couture, I selected one dress that was a favorite of mine and made me think of everything that I love about Spring! This upcoming season incorporated a lot of blush and pink tones - I also love that this dress has sparkle as well as nude elements that allow your skin to show though! We paired this look with a pair of heels from Q by Pasquale! Each show had a fab DJ and this show which was a combined show had DJ Eloy who mixed fab music together as the girls walked the runway and then took additional pictures on our terrace! In future seasons, we would love to do an entire show surrounded around the looks of this fabulous luxury designer but am so pleased that we could provide a taste of it to our attendees!

We had a phenomenal day and evening at The Glass Houses as well as with a number of our sponsors such as Kiwaii Spring Water which is perfectly served at room temperature and is quite refreshing!

Trendy Thursdays: NYFW FW2012/2013 ~ Emily Cho Presentation

I ended my first day of NYFW FW 2012/2013 at the Empire Hotel for a fabulous presentation of Emily Cho handbags. Lauren Rae Levy (LRL Group) who I always love seeing at the shows and in between, hosted a fun evening of presenting the collection and having the opportunity of being able to talk with the designer. As an Accessories Expert, I'm always looking for the next piece, brand and designer that should become apart of my must haves when I am curating as well as appearing on segments. This season's collection focused on jewel tone bags that are made of calfskin and are full of texture. In addition, I love that the models were styled with over the top cocktail rings (which I rock all the time) as well as hoodies and leggings that were in fun hues! What a great way to show how luxury can enhance the most casual of outfits! These are clutches that I definitely will include on this site and with my clients for future styling!

Treasure Tuesdays: Kimmie's 5s ~ Neutral Adoration

In our last week at looking at 5 accessories that are apart of my favorite ways to complete a look, we have to go super chic! This is perfect whether you're looking to get decked out for NYE, a gala or anything else where you need to look beyond phenomenal. Start off with a dress that definitely is a conversational piece from the moment that you walk into the room! When it comes to these pieces, there is no other designer to think about other than Donna Karan! I love this twisted jersey stretch dress which is very architectual in appearance; however, being the perfect way to look amazing in comfort. A dress like this doesn't need a lot of assistance but when it comes to true wow power, this look will look just amazing with my picks.

I don't talk about earrings a lot but I love Melinda Maria's Pod Collection Black Onyx Chandelier Pod Pave Earrings which add a textured look and a decadence as well. I'm obsessed with Lanvin's Pave Crystal & Rope Necklace which adds a regal element to the look. Slip on one of my fave designers, Stephen Dweck's Mother of Pearl cocktail ring which adds some levity to the pave and onyx portion of the look. Since you're dressing for an occasion, the shoes cap off the look of dazzle with Pierre Hardy's Circle Sandal which is a crystal encrusted suede shoe. Finally, I'm loving VBH's large envelope clutch which has a fab glimmer to it.Together or separate this is the epitome of neutral adoration.

Wearable Wednesdays ~ His Style - Casual Luxe

In his world, the concept of 9 - 5 doesn't exist as a potential business option can take place at any moment, thus he must be ready. His office could be at home, walking through the UWS on his iPhone or sitting in his favorite deli waiting for the Godfather sandwich! His Style reflects the changing times and if business can be done anywhere, why not merge pleasure and work together? With the outdoor smoking band, you're less likely to see him smoking a cigar in Central Park but perhaps he's in the Carnegie Club enjoying a cigar as he works from his iPad (they have wifi there). Being a fan of Rebecca Minkoff's python studded case (love it and use it all the time), it's only fitting that he rocks a stealth camo Ben Minkoff case. Bringing a full supply of cigars or just having this case from Brooks Brothers on the off chance that he may purchase a new find at the Club is always a good idea. Work and play have merged so why not have a fedora to cap of the look a la Tommy Bahama and everything can be casually be carried away in this fab Burberry bag!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Blue Tranquility

It's my last day in Dominican Republic and I'm on my way back to NYC later on this afternoon. With all the success of our Spring Break segments over the last two weeks, we are kicking off the first week of May being in a fitness state of mind. Being fit extends beyond just exercising, it's also feeling good about your body as well as putting good things in it. With that being said, Whirlpool wants us to know that it's Drinking Water Week! Many of us have water purifiers whether they are in our fridge or we have containers to do so. Since we already have them, make sure you're drinking plenty of water not only is it simple since your fridge is outfitted with this purifier which ensures clean water, but it's a great way to get in a necessary resource. Whirlpool wants to keep you healthy and hydrated by giving away a filter system to you! Simply let Kitten Lounge know how do you enjoy your water experience as we should be drinking plenty of it! One week from today we will select a winner! Please note that in order to win (thus entering the giveaway), you need to have a Whirlpool fridge so please learn more about it here. By having this you're enjoying clean filtered water as well as not using plastic bottles which add unnecessary clutter!

In addition, clean water is best enjoyed when you're having a phenomenal meal so flip through this book to see what the stars eat and if you have the chance to do so, you may want to spruce up your plates and glassware in order to feel the maximum amount of of luxury with each bite and sip!

Snazzy Sundays ~ My Travel Checklist

I'm a huge believer in paying attention to the details whether it's what I wear over the weekends to run errands and hang out or what I wear when it's time to hit the friendly skies. I like for my travel gear to have a flow as you never know who you may meet in the airport or where you will be heading off to once you land. With upcoming travel being on my mind, along with Fashion Week, here are some fab essentials to consider. First off, your fave pair of heels must be protected and as my Jimmy Choo's are my babies, they should be in a shoe tote that will make them feel a little more comfortable during their journey. While jetting off from one locale to the next, I know that it is essential to have a passport cover that doesn't disappoint so I'm loving the simple but chic, Dooney and Bourke cover. Everything has to go somewhere and even when you travel it should be wrapped in luxury. Lanvin's snakeskin canvas suitcase looks phenom while also being easy to care for due to the fabric choice (we all know what happens to how our suitcases and how they are not handled so well - so having phenomenal materials when you're hitting your favorite carrier, may be something you want to think about). Of course the journey is a lot easier when you're not chilly - so I'm loving DKNY's beaded cardigan which looks fab over a number of looks from a ponte pant to a pair of jeans. With a bit of tweaking, you can ensure that you find your own travel checklist which will make you look like the jetsetter that you know you are.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Caviar Dreams

Champagne wishes and caviar dreams can definitely be yours! Today, we round up a number of fab brands that not only make your skin look amazing but are enriched by caviar! Whether you're a fan or someone that would rather pass when that cracker comes your way, we all know the notion of luxury that it generates when the word is mentioned. Although caviar is known for its salty quality and fabulous pairing when it comes into contact with vodka, it's also amazing when extracts of it are used within your preferred beauty brand so that it slows down the signs of aging while nourishing and restoring your skin. Caviar contains various amino acids, mineral acids, calcium, iron and so much more! Enjoy our selection of products that contain caviar and begin thinking about having facial luxury at your fingertips.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Passport to Beauty Continues

Last week I attended and covered "Passport to Beauty" which was a fun day to see many of the fragrances and beauty products that are apart of the House of Louis Vuitton! Many of these items will start hitting shelves and sites later next month as well as having a holiday version which is perfect for gifting. There were a number of products so you can expect to see future posts but today I have a few items that were another series that I felt were worth noting!

Acqua Di Parma has two products that I'm super excited about. First they have a powered soap in a shaker that not only smells amazing but it's so easy to transport it around. When using it, you merely shake the powder on your hand and when you add water, it foams up! I love that this is perfect for your home as it has great vanity appeal! The scent is perfect for men and women as it's simply refreshing. It's one of those items that add instant luxury to your home. Second, they have a number of room sprays and since you know I love tea, I love that this spray is Acqua Di Parma's Tea Leaves which smells like Oolong Tea. Now you can scent your linens, furniture or just spritz your room with this fragrant and yet calming scent. I feel that this warm scent is perfect regardless of the time of year but would love to see how this would smell in the fall as it does have such rich notes in it!

Next, we have a men's cologne by Kenzo Homme. The bottle is amazing as it looks like bamboo and once again, this is something that you can sit out and it looks great on your vanity or coming out of your travel case. As many of you know, we will officially kick off Men's Style on Kitten Lounge with our Men's Style Editor, Jacob Yee. So you can expect to see more beauty within men's as well which is very exciting for us. We'll let you know when this scent launches as I think it's the new go to scent for any guy!

Finally we have Guerlain's Abeille Royale which is an anti-aging serum. Not only does this feel smooth on your skin but whether you're fighting wrinkles or being preventative about it, I was excited to hear about the luxe factor with this product. They extract honey from the Black Honey Bee in France! I think many of us were surprised that such a think even existed but when you felt it on your skin, you realized that this product had ingredients in it that you won't find in your typical anti-aging products! I'm super excited about this and love that it is meant to last 2 - 3 months so that your skin is at it's optimal look and feel whether you use it twice a day or once!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Crystal Glams Your iPod & iPhone

Last week I was sent the best gift ever! If you want a little decadence for the everyday, how about charging your iPod, iTouch or iPhone in one of four docks from Crystal Dock? Starting as low as $199 and up (there is a version where they make limited quantities), you can have your favorite technology charge in this uber chic dock! Above, you'll see my iPod as I don't have an iPhone (unfortunately, my My Touch can't charge on this dock). I love that this looks great, that whether you have the Aurora, Beau, Celestia (what I have) or the Dune, each version has different etchings. Also note that every one of these docks are handcrafted and when you visit the site, you can learn a lot more about this process. Simply put your phone into the dock, then take your USB cord and attach it to the back of the dock and connect it into your USB port. You're all set! When you receive this in the mail, it comes in a cute box and your piece is suspended in foam as each of these pieces are packed with white gloves on! I love this bit of luxury and can't thank Crystal Dock enough for sending one! Check out the site as these make great gifts!

Fashionable Fridays ~ The Aha Moment of Style

Yesterday was the day of all days for me. There were some highs (finally trying out Townhouse Spa and LOVING IT, meeting my new mecca of accessories (hold that thought) and chatting with various people that continue to rock out with ideas that keep me moving and grooving with possibilities. And of course there were the lows - one of them being falling in the middle of Times Square and scraping my elbow - but hey I saved the face haha (can you say embarrassing but we have amazing tourists and NYers who saved a lady in distress that merely wanted to creep and hide into the crevice of the sidewalk). This week has been quite the hustle of hustles and I have learned a lot about what I'm doing and taking it to the next level. Every now and then, I feel the need to share these "aha" moments - random musings but what can I say, it's my version of "Letter from the Editor".

I have always supported and in many cases upheld my belief that social presence has been supreme and that it's a cost effective and yet a great way to reach a large group of people that you may not be able to reach. Of course, being online means that you have to really incorporate social as a means for people to understand your brand and fully engage you; however, lately I have realized that it's super important to still have that in person contact. I have spent the last few weeks doing a lot of coffee chats, touch bases and one on ones. To that end, I have begun creating great events that people can come to to see the product, mingle with their friends etc. Coming up on May 13th we have a fabulous shopping event at Apart Showroom and we will be kicking the summer off with our Splashion Soiree! There are more events like these coming up and some that are in the Hamptons - of course details will follow!

But my intent when I came to NYC was to not only embrace the fashion industry but to provide an all access pass to items that people normally don't have or to be able to "cut the line so to speak" in terms of fashion. In addition, I wanted to make it personal. My concept was to provide people the luxurious experience of finding fab pieces in a truly comfortable environment where they could play with accessories and seriously build their look without having to come to a store during off hours or to buy it out. In addition, this experience could be enjoyed by those who are corporate execs as well as those that are assistants.

Yesterday, I finally found the last puzzle to this and I'm so excited to be able to do personal shopping in a cozy and chic space where you're only limited by your imagination. Being an Accessories Expert and being able to talk about items for the past three years has been amazing but helping you shop with them, that's the best part! If you love being introduced to new designers or have a certain look that you're going for (everyday, prepping for the Hamptons, a night out, bridal, etc) then I am definitely you're go to girl and can connect you with items that are not only dazzling but meet your expectations. Who knew that after this amount of time in the city, I could finally open up this portion of my idea! Simply contact me and we will work on getting your look set up!

Yesterday also became my induction into the world of watches (among other fab accessories) at the Ana Martins Showroom! I have not always been a fan but I fell in love with gorgeous pieces that finally made me wonder if my cuffs would have to finally move onto my left hand so that a dazzling watch could be on my right? Expect to see more watches styled into looks and of course I love bling and conversation pieces so I know you will love them!

So simply put, Kitten Lounge is growing again with great events, coverage (yes it's true we will have a bridal week on the site in June with another in Nov and no I'm not engaged) and finally we are offering personal shopping not only within apparel as we have offered but most importantly within accessories. Look for more information on this as we will kick this off in May 1st but if there are fashion emergencies and you're in NYC, then of course contact me stat! Above are fab accessories that you should become acquainted with, of course styled with a fab look and since we kick off Hamptons style May 1st, we had to go with one of my fave looks!

Fashionable Fridays ~ Josie Natori Gets Essential

I'm with Josie Natori in her fabulous home. Josie is wearing a top and bottom from her new Essentials collection!

This morning I woke up and although I'm seeing Alice in Wonderland which is a dream like movie, I feel I just spent 2 hours of last night walking in my dreams. I was invited to the home of Josie Natori who has been an icon for me within the intimates world. Rolling back the tape, for those that don't know - I started in the fashion industry as an intimates model. I remember seeing her brand at trade shows and various boutiques. I loved her robes which made me feel like I was in luxury and to be invited to her home, I couldn't stop the goosebumps!

Josie was so welcoming last night and although I met her a few months ago at another event, I was so excited to step into her world and equally excited that she was thrilled to learn about all of us who use Twitter, our blogs and so much more. I had no idea that she played the piano and for those of you that follow me on Twitter, you got to see that. We were introduced to a peek into some of the pieces from her Essential collection which were amazing! I love her outfit above as this is definitely 2 pieces that I would love to have in my closet. Speaking of closets, I was so overwhelmed to see a closet that was even better than the one that was created for Carrie in Sex and the City, It was opulent, minimalist and AMAZING. She had bags from her collection that you can't even find anymore (Josie let us know that we could expect to see bags in her collection again). The images in her closet will be engraved in our mind as I would never take pictures of someone's closet as that's a secret place but I literally lost my breath taking it in. In addition, I smelled the Natori fragrance and I have to say, that as much as I love Chanel No 5 - I do believe that I am replacing my signature scent!

This week has been a whirlwind with various projects that I'm tackling, attending events and preparing for my huge meeting with Style Network. It was so nice to have that 2 hour zen period and to get to know more about Josie and all of her essentials.

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Miami State of Mind

As some of you may know, I'm launching a new line that has elements of my first line, Kitten Couture, and yet it's completely in a different direction! It's exciting and with a soft launch next month and the official one in July 2010 - I'm in that mode of figuring out and rounding the troops. A lot of what I will do involves travels and presentations to bring the jewelry line to various markets. Miami is one of my key cities as second to NYC, it's one that is vibrant and yet very relaxing. When I'm there, I defintiely love to party like a diva and love dresses such as this one by Terani Couture which is split so that while you walk, your shoes can peek out (hello these shoes by SOS Mark are ridiculously amazing and you feel like your dripping in luxury with every step!). With so many eye popping items, I love the idea of bringing it back with natural pieces such as this gorgeous Quartz and Agate Ring (two of my favorite stones) and this lovely one of a kind pendant. I can imagine floating from place to place in this dress as I head out to whatever party is next! This is perfect whether I'm in LA, Miami or Las Vegas - just as long as I'm out and about and having a great time!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ We're Such a Tease

I'm still at the shows here in Las Vegas meeting with designers, owners and more! I'm happy to say that I have found a lot of designers that I will be presenting to you over the next few weeks! Yesterday I met a designer that is literally someone that I loved every piece of the collection. Daddy's Favorite is an amazing lounge, lingerie and even "out and about" line. When it comes to luxury, you will find it here! Now why is this known as a tease? I was able to get a sneak peak of what is coming for Spring and they looked absolutely amazing as they were South Beach perfect for cabanas, cocktails and more. What is the inspiration behind the line? Mariam, the owner loved her mother's bathrobe and decided to make a line that was not only comfortable but fashionable. She knew that we hate to wear robes that we have to adjust to ensure that it stays together; moreover, we need to have sleeves that don't get in the way so that we can wash our face and do our makeup. In addition we love robes but we don't want to be frumpy! The Bohemian Rhapsody is the beginning of an amazing collection that only gets more amazing as we continue into the next season! This robe is such a fashion statement that I wants to share how it could be worn when lounging at home. You can bring in pops of turquoise with a pair of sandals with a little heel from Manolo Blahnik, Kara Ross' cuff brings in a fab red and this amber glass ring is truly simple. Daddy's Favorite is a collection that is worth bringing into your lifestyle and when the rest of the line is available on the site, you'll be the first to know. As usual, all links in the spread are clickable - so yes I'm teasing you with fab finds and the fact that there is so much to offer within the Daddy's Favorite collection!

Sippin Saturdays: How About a Night at The Sofitel in Shanghai

The past few weeks have been stressful. There have been a lot of events which have been enjoyable; however, it's taken a lot of work. If you happen to be in Brooklyn tomorrow, you'll see that I will be at the Warsaw in Brooklyn for Bust Magazine's Craftacular with one of the vendors and a very good friend of mine - Crystal Horton (cookie founder and baker extraordinaire) of Tasty Morsels Bakery. We will be knee deep in cookies, smiles and more! I can't wait to meet those that are fans of her work from the design house Chloe to S Factor and much more!

Of course both of us have been working hard in our respective worlds and we will have earned our much deserved trip to South Beach in June! When it comes to vacations, we all have our spots so I definitely want to present one of Sofitel's jewels! Located in Shanghai, the Sofitel opened the Sheshan Huaghe which is one of their gorgeous hotels! With Mediterranean architecture and located within the Sheshan National Tourism Resort, each room is one of three themes including Mediterranean, Chinese and Southeast Asian. If you're in this part of the world whether for business or pleasure you're bound to enjoy the private balconies, L'Occitane and Hermes ammenities and much more. If you need an additional incentive, check out the amazing images and the site to find out more about the gorgeous property.

Wearable Wednesdays: The Fashionable Bulls Eye

Accessible fashion is something that is core to my style beliefs! We all have to decide what works for us in terms of budget, the overall look that you're going for and where this will take you in the longterm. I love high/low fashion (nothing is better then stepping out with something that's a luxury item and getting a great find that's under $50!). Fergie was recently photographed at US Weekly's Hot Hollywood Style party wearing a black studded vest from McQ Alexander McQueen for Target! I love this edgy femme look that mixes the cute skirt and these fab shoes together! It just goes to show you that an outfit can come together in so many ways!

Fashionable Fridays: The Pearl of Lingerie

Now I am a huge fan of Victoria's Secret and Pink. I think it's a lot of fun and it's always a great place to go in terms of convenience but when you're talking about true lingerie I have to give much love to La Perla! But La Perla is much more than just lingerie it's also bathing suits as well. They know how to bring out the sensual and after taking my introduction to S Factor last night, I began thinking of sensuality and luxury in a new way. This Valentine's Day, I am making a pledge that I am going to remember that in the midst of the hustle and bustle that goes on in my day to day life, I will make sure to take out time for me to hear my own inner voice. Of course that will also include buying things that I enjoy wearing and not just items that are "convenient". La Perla is definitely something that I want to incorporate into my wardrobe and I may get a bathing suit to bask on the sands of the Dominican Republic next month. So for those of you that have half days and want to take a little stroll, head down to Soho to pick up a little something that will kick off your Valentine's Day and beyond (of course, even visiting their website transports you to another state of mind).

Wearable Wednesday: A Bit of Luxury

In times such as these, a bit of luxury is still something that you deserve! Maybe you want to congratulate yourself on a new project that you have completed or you simply would like to have something nice that makes you feel good. I have always believed that every so often I have to have one luxury that every time I see it, I am reminded of an event or just the need I had to get it. I think that these rings from Tanagro are definitely in that realm. When it comes to luxury and the fact that they make their jewelry with your ultimate comfort and ease in mind, Tanagro Jewelry is the only piece that you would feel confident in wearing. A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure to stop by their showroom. Not only was I dazzled with amazing pieces that were handmade but I loved the pop of colors and how delicate the jewelry was. Not only were these pieces perfect to wear when you're going out for a decadent evening, but they were also perfect to wear when you decide to go around the corner to your favorite brunch spot with friends. Tanagro is extreme quality and a name that you can stand by knowing that it is worth every penny and that you will be able to pass it down to someone who is very special to you. Take some time to check out these rings and then visit the site to see additional items that you will want to add to your list whether it is for the holidays, your bonus check and more!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Eugenia Kim for Coach Hats

MaudehatMost people know that I am not really someone who runs after what I call "traditional" luxury brands. It's not that I don't think they are amazing, but I love supporting designers that are indie or strive to make unique piece where you will not find yourself coming and going. Eugenia Kim is one of my favorite designers and she was commissioned to make hats for Coach! This hat, known as the Maude, is apart of this collection and if you would like to see more - visit Coutorture for additional pieces. There are a lot of fun elements that breathe an interesting life into this iconic brand!

Mingling Mondays ~ Support R is for Retail

Traditionally on "Mingling Mondays", I like to talk about a great restaurant or event since mingling is all about coming together and exchanging ideas - what better way to do this then with food and something to look at? But I have to say that earlier this week I read something that made me want to share it with you and to provide my thoughts on this subject. It would be unfair for me to provide this exchange without including an excerpt of the original which will be listed below in italics. A friend of mine who runs a showroom here in the city sent this out to her buyers and I thought that it was not only brave but a view that I believe in as a designer and something that is uplifting for all of us!

As many of you know, I work for a luxury sportswear brand and earlier this year as I sat in our Sales Meeting we discussed the fact that due to the current economical situation and it being an election year that it was going to be a tough one. Brands would survive and stores would still buy but the fact is that to maintain (or obtain your place if you're trying to break in) your place you would have to work harder to be considered as 1 of 8 options as opposed to 1 of 10. Ultimately, it would be a matter of taking someone else's share in order to increase your own. That can be seen as something scary but I like to think of it as an opportunity.

I spent an entire week at Vegas for Project, Magic, Lingerie Show and the Accessories Show. Not only did I go to see friends that I knew but also those that were new designers. It is my belief that for those of us that are still scratching to get out there, that this is the time to show how we are different! As I walked the show floors there were a variety of buyers out there and although we can complain that buyers should be looking for those of us that are different, we have to ask ourselves "Are we going out there and showing our angle on style?" In order for buyers to take a chance on what we bring to the table, we need to believe in ourselves and take that step as well. Presenting a variation of what has already been done will only make your intended target pass over your work and purchase items from the designer that has already established themselves in that niche.

As the designer and owner of Kitten Couture, I must say that there have been times that I have been slightly frustrated that people like my pieces but they don't feel that it's the look they are going for in their store's product mix; however, it is that difference that will set me apart. I use this analogy when you decide to present a product: "You have to decide do you want to be Mc Donald's where it is available wherever you look or do you want to be Ritz Carlton?" Both of these places are coveted spots but it is a matter of whether you want to position yourself everywhere or would you rather have a smaller point of distribution and be more exclusive? I choose the Ritz Carlton school of thought and I choose to maintain my way of designing since it is times like these that someone may be more willing to take a risk and present their customers with new looks in their store. It is my opinion that even in the bad times, there are those that succeed and those of us that have been out there for a few years trying to get noticed - this is when we need to push so that next year we are considered by more individuals. I highlight Ziordia who is not only a designer who I respect because she worked in the handbag industry but I am encouraged by her passion and efforts to get her line out there and that she continues to stay true to her concepts. It wasn't easy but to initially see her in her showroom and then to see her doing so well at Project, this encouraged me.

To become noticed or to increase our share in the market, it is going to require that as designers we come together and get creative! Maybe this means we decide to combine our contacts and come up with trunk shows and shopping events. We look for ways that we do photoshoots that we incorporate our pieces together. I am always open to options (I am always looking for people to put on here at Kitten Lounge and also on See Pretty Things) and if I can help you directly or pass you on to someone else who can - that just makes it better for all of us! Tough year yes but it is not a year that will go by with only those known labels making successes. This is an open letter to all of us out there to continue to make strides because we are not that far away and although there are those preaching brace ourselves for the worse I am saying brace ourselves for the unexpected and access to areas that we couldn't have believed simply because we chose to take a stand, maintain our innovation and we didn't stop pushing forward.

Original Excerpt from My Friend
R is for RETAIL!Stop reading all the bad news out there. How many national   shows since early January [10 ]did we all hear the R word discussed. This   is just FEBRUARY!!!

This is going to be a very challenging retail year.
But,   one that still brings opportunities and niches to fill.

As store buyers and   owners, you have to really shop and open your eyes to everything. Travel,   surf the web, review the fashion magazines, click on to the fashion runway   shows...and at the retail level, what is truly important is giving "perceived   value" in the items you buy. You need to understand how much more   profitable an item business will continue to be and how margin builders   is this year's mantra. A proven basic: You have to give   the customer a "reason to buy"

Fashionable Fridays ~ How Much Is That Perfume in the Case?

Clive2 We buy various pieces based on the Steal vs Splurge factor. There are some things that we refuse to pay a bundle for and there are others that we tell ourselves are a necessary luxury. This beautiful perfume, Imperial Majesty, was officially certified as the Guinness Book of World's Record's most "World's Most Expensive Perfume". Ar a mere $200,000, you can go to Saks 5th Ave and pick one up to add to your favorite scents! Clive Christian, the perfumer is the proud parent of this very luxe scent. This is an amazing label and will definitely be interesting to see the response generated from this very distinct perfume. I must say that the bottle and it's luxurious case definitely lends itself to it's new standing when being compared to other perfumes. I do believe that viewing this for those who are in to their scents, will be as enticing as seeing some of the cities most recognized features!
