When certain hues come to mind, I automatically put them in my regal category and Cobalt is one of them! One of my fave hues to rock in polish is Cobalt Blue and I'm loving this one by Yves Saint Laurent. I have fantastic pics to get this hue throughout your home! First, getting it in your bedroom this hue goes from regal to tropical with this fabulous bed set from Anthropologie with its feminine texture and it's perfect hue for him as well without him feeling like it's a girl color. You can mix this in with grey and other neutrals. Head to your living room and ensure that this color splashes along your walls with this bookcase from Crate and Barrel with lighting from the chandelier which can be bought at Bed Bath and Beyond. Continue within your dining room or kitchen as your meals can definitely be glammed up with plates and serving wear from DVF's home line and as you serve the perfect beverage and want to have ice on hand when friend's are over, this Waterford Crystal is the best way to keep the party going!
The holidays are definitely here whether you're thinking about the major ones you participate in OR you think of all the ways that you think of having people over as we build up to the big days! Your dining room table becomes even more appropriate and should be dressed accordingly! We were inspired by Interior Design Expert and Founder of Dinette.com, Michael Craig (stay tuned to what you can do with your space by following @DinetteGuy who is familiar with maximizing spaces and seeking the luxe in glam in a number of ways! It's always about the details and ensuring that your personality comes through as well so that your eating space reflects your overall living space! Dinette.com is a great source to get a fabulous table within a number of styles that speak to you - just like the table above.
Just as Michael believes that you can jazz up your fave couch with fun pops of color with pillows, your table can get the same treatment with napkins - I'm loving the boho chic vibe of these napkins by Williams Sonoma! They are a great and easy way to make your table phenomenal and get napkin rings (loving the ones available at Barney's New York which plays to my keeping it natural but glammy sensibilities) that are interesting - you won't have to worry about how to fold your napkins and it's a great conversation piece. Michael believes that you can quickly luxe your table by, "adding a shiny bowl to your tabletop - nuts look great in a glitzy silver bowl". His belief here can also be said for choice in flatware and other serving platters and bowls. Whether you opt for silver, gold or bronze - it looks amazing! Horchow is our constant friend on Kitten Lounge and we love that they offer a number of options from one of our favorite designers, Michael Aram when it comes to serving your guests items. In addition, how can you not love the flatware that calls to the Bronze Age and is available at Anthropologie.
With all the meals that you will be hosting and the fact that some guests may definitely come more than once, make sure to add in candles - a fab suggestion by Michael as it sets the mood whether you're going for something romantic or simply want to awaken the senses to appropriately set the mood. Bring in your aesthetic but we don't need to say everything about ourselves at once - I love looking at pictures but even Michael says, "edit your framed pictures - too much is too much". Finally, lighting is everything and he suggests, "dimmers are key - mood lighting always helps control the ambiance".
As promised we are wrapping up our New York Fashion Week coverage into the weekend. This way we will be back to our regularly scheduled program on Mon! With that said, I had many people ask me how did I get through NYFW? I wish I could say that I was eating well balanced meals, getting plenty of rest and exercising to start each day. But in reality Fashion Week is a hectic schedule and with this season launching my line and doing appearances, it was even crazier! With that said, you find comfort where you can! In the day, that may mean spending an extra 20 mins to mingle with friends between shows, maximizing the fun of lounges or just taking a moment to go off site to get some work done so you're not as stressed.
For me, I took the night time to get comfortable while I worked to stay current with shows. During UGG's Post Fashion Night Out brunch, I soaked in the sun, yummie nibbles/bevvies and loved our gift - fabulous Ansley shoes in Grey. Seeing that I was in heels everyday and standing for long periods, my feet deserved the ultimate in comfort! Due to all the fun outfits I wore (which I can't thank Natori enough, it simply meant that in coming home, I had to slip into something comfortable that wouldn't stop my work flow. LnA hits the spot as it's cozy, cute and in a pinch, I can throw on leggings and make a quick errand if need me. Finally, my skin is another way that I revitalized my self after hours. Bliss' Sugar Scrub in Blood Orange White Pepper Sugar Scrub ensures that my skin stays soft and glows so that I can rock my Ted Rossi pieces and my Virgins, Saints and Angels one as well.
My after hours routine in terms of NYFW is all about obtaining comfort without distracting from the work that had to be taken care of. Having these at my disposal ensured that I looked great and was prepping for the next day of events.
I have been on Fresh Diet for about 2 weeks now and this wasn't done as a means to lose weight per se but to be able to focus on working out and to have no excuse in terms of having well balanced meals to eat. Generally, I skip breakfast (I know huge no no), have a small lunch and then I chow down for dinner. It's been my habit for years and with all the events that I go to - it's tough to eat regular meals as well as to find the time to make something or order something. Enter Fresh Diet!
Now I have been asked what do meals look like as you've seen me tweeting about some of my fave meals including Curried Egg Salad on pita, Beef Thai Salad and various fish dishes (via tweeting with the brand yesterday @FreshDiet, I was told that they are having a cookbook that will come out either late this fall or early winter - yum! Each night a package is on my door and they are nicely packed within a little tote with ice packs. You have a nice breakfast, lunch, dinner and depending on your choices - two snacks or a snack and a dessert! Now I can run home in the middle of the day to grab a meal or when I'm typing away, I can nibble on a super healthy snack. It's quick, easy and it's doable whether I'm rocking my gym clothes, loungewear or dressed to head out. Plus regardless of whether I'm rocking a fab boho style or just running around - one thing is off my mind, "what am I going to eat"?
As I mentioned last week, it's all about staying healthy on Kitten Lounge whether it's for a designated event or your lifelong process. Each Fri, you're going to find fab ways to get styled to look fab but to dress appropriately at the gym. Right now, my obsession is workout leggings! Not only are they comfy but it pulls together your look in such a great way! Stella McCartney's yoga stretch jersey pants are definitely a must! I've been wearing these pants this week during my workouts. I love tanks and once again this Nike tank has that great fashionable look while also being suitable for hitting the machines. Complete the look by this brands' hoodie - especially when the weather begins to turn. I love Puma's and this is a cute look. I love sporting grey and black and although I pair down my jewelry when I work out, I don't exercise without at least a little bling. I'm loving Emily Armenta's ring which is definitely something you'll notice when you're on the elliptical.
Earlier this week, I've been tweeting out about Fresh Diet. No I'm not looking to lose a lot of weight as I'm a size 2 but I do believe that it's important to stay toned. As you know, I'm always traveling for work, running to events and attending brand meetings for collaborations. This means I'm grabbing food on the go or I'm so tired when I get home that I may not be making the most healthy choices (or falling asleep out of pure exhaustion). Whether you're like is super crazy or you feel that you need portion control, Fresh Diet is a customizable meal plan that creates order out of your culinary life. First you select how long your plan will be for (mine is a month), how many calories you wish to eat (I picked 1100 - 1200) and then comes the fun part. Go to your pantry and select the items that you don't like by food category. This will help you when you start selecting your daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and dessert - if you opt out of dessert you can have another snack or appetizer) as it will alert you when an ingredient you don't like is included within an item you selected. For every meal, you choose between a small selection of items and each day, you get a new series of items to choose from! Once you select, you wait for your meal to arrive which is at your door (or in my case doorman). When you've completed your meal, you can place your bag outside and they swap it - no intrusion, no worries about waiting around for the delivery and all the heating instructions are included on your handy dandy menu. I'm a huge fan and have had such a fab selection and I love that a rep reaches out to ask how everything is going. If you need to halt a delivery, everything can be managed within your account online - easy! It's definitely worth checking out and I love that they are sponsoring us in our #KLFitness as we tone up for Fashion Week.
Fashion Week continues and as I'm running around, it's hard to find great food options when you're doing a lot of coverage. This is not just a problem during this time period but our lives in general. Fess up, how many of us have grabbed something less then healthy as we were simply too tired to make something? Freshology ensures that we eat right so that we can look our best while making yummie meals. Now there is no excuse to grab one of the containers out of your fridge and to know that you are eating the nutrients that you need to match your fast paced life!
Top chefs make you meals that are delivered to your door and whether you're doing this to lose weight, keep food on your families table, are a mom to be or a new mommie, etc there is something for you. Dina Manzo of Real Housewives of NJ loves them and has a video testimonial! You can also find out more by following them on Twitter at @Freshology as well as their Facebook Fan Page as well. If you've heard about them or have always wanted to try it, the fab Freshology team are fans of Kitten Lounge and are including a promotional code (KittenNY10) where you can get free shipping for meals that are for 14 or 28 days! That's 2 to 4 weeks of planned meals and more time to enjoy life in general!
The city can be expensive and sometimes you have to think about whether you're going to buy the perfect dress to go to dinner with friends or whether you'll re-invent your wardrobe just so that you can spend more on the meal and drinks later. The best part about Restaurant Week is that you don't have to make such hard choices! You can buy something cute WHILE eating at places that you have always wanted to. Restaurant Week runs from this week through the next excluding weekends. If you want to check out a new place or simply want to revisit the place that made you skimp the rest of the week, check out Open Table where you can sign up for those that are participating for lunch and/or dinner. You can also make your reservations on this service during this week or anytime that you feel the need t make sure that you and your friends can have a great night and you'll seem like an expert.
I can claim many titles, Internet Personality, designer, accessories obsessed, etc; however, when I speak with friends on the great debate on where they sit as a Baker vs a Cook - I do sit silently thinking that it would be nice to learn some recipes. I have to say that it can be a little intimidating. Somehow the idea of dealing in fashion, writing about accessories on See Pretty Things, posting here and designing for Kitten Couture - I never run out of ideas or steam; however, the idea of cooking makes me run for healthy takeout or wimping out by making salads. Maybe I'm not being completely fair since I have found ways to limp by - I am a fan of chicken. Not to say that I don't do chicken well (thanks to Wholefoods having pre-marinated chickens of various seasonings); however, I would like to know how to make some sides and do a little something. Ironically enough, I do enjoy watching the Food Network; however, I have yet to become completely introduced to the inner workings of my kitchen. A cookbook is definitely something that I should think about having and one of the cooks I respect is Rachael Ray who is able to integrate taking things that are pre-made with those things that you do yourself and within 30 mins. I also love that she has this cookbook of 365 items that you can make without any repeats! This is something that interests me! Run out and begin your collection with this book and I hope to let you know of successful recipes that I have been able to create and maybe I will create my own (baby steps). Check out various items from Rachael Ray that are available on Food Network and also check out her very own site as well.
