Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Orlebar Brown

London Collections Men continues into its final day. With the winter coming upon us, we're looking for vibrant color and we found it with Orlebar Brown which launched six uears ago via Adam Brown, a photographer! He conceived this line which creates tailored swimwear for men! What a great alternative to what's out there in the marketplace and this season which looks at FW2013 is not only retro (this very Art Deco and everything I love about Miami as the collection is broken out into 3 areas: Miami Nights, Poolside Decadence and Beach Frivolity) but fun with it's yellows, red and a hint of mint! With a mix of printed shorts, blazers, oversized bags and more - we're ready ot jump on a cruise to really embrace this look. Who doesn't love bringing in that Miami sense no matter where you're off to or just popping it in to the overall look?

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Travel Ready

Roll over the images to see more tips here!

It's all about keeping it casual. By the time you read this I am on a flight heading to HSN in Tampa! I always know about traveling comfortably in this heat but what about the guys? I love this look as I'm a huge fan of burgundy! This navy tee from J Crew is a great staple in his wardrobe and love that it is paired with these printed shorts which have a bit of that great Moroccan theme available at TopShop ! I'm all about Hoodie Buddies which allows you to bring your music with you no matter where you go! The secret? The drawstrings that cinch up your hood actually have headphones in them. I travel a lot with my Hoodie Buddies as I have a version that's thicker for knocking a huge chill OR a lighter slimmer one when I am off to head to yoga!

The look is finished with fabulous slip on moc boat shoes by Quoddy as well as this duffle from Brooks Brother's spin off, Black Fleece tennis bag which is perfect to put in any overhead compartment! Such a casual look and one that allows you to hit the ground running!

Trendy Thursdays: London 2012 Olympics ~ Bold Hues Hit the Olympics

Suitsupply, for the third year in a row, will be dressing the Dutch Olympic and Paralympic team and their entourage! Their head designer, Murray Coetzee designed the above four looks which we will see next week during the opening ceremony. There is a nod within its style to iconic English sports and being trimmed by the colors of the Dutch flag. How cute is the oversized tulip just to remind you that this is the fkower of the dutch! How can you not love the tennis blazers and cricket cable knits. If you check out other portions of this collection which can be purchased, there are badges decorated with British landmarks.

In addition to loving the looks and wanting the trench coat! I would definitely suggest these fun hues if you're looking to rock a little orange and blue while watching the Olympics Opening Ceremony next week. As you know, I'm a huge fan of all shades Butter London and on my other days, Essie as these bring in both of the hues that these Olympians are wearing for their country.

Trendy Thursdays: His Style ~ Beauty Travels

It's definitely a trend for brands to create products based on gender. Now Paul loves using whatever I use and it's actually tough to get him to use his own products as he loves the smells of my products. Above includes a few items that he does like that are within the men's category and items that I would like for him to try.

I have been a Dove girl since high school when it comes to me deodorants. So I was super glad to see that we have a number of men's Dove producst for him. I like that in terms of simplifying, some guys may like that they have a body wash for the body as well as the face. Personally, I like to use separate products but can see how this would be a time saver. In addition I love this two sided shower tool by them that has a sponge on one side and a loofah on the other! When it comes to lotion, I'm a huge fan of Palmer's Cocoa Butter. I definitely want to see about having this for Paul as he he likes the smell and this lotion will definitely keep his skin soft. Jack Black is a men's line that actually has a number of lip balms that I obsess over and this face moisturizer is the perfect item for your guy no matter the season. To keep a great smell, I suggest this John Varvatos limited edition cologne. When traveling he can put everything in this Burberry toiletry bag!

Swoonfest Saturdays: Events ~ Bob Marley Movie & Cedella

Earlier this week, right after N Natori's preview event, I went to Meet at the Apartment to see a special preview of Bob Marley the Movie thanks to Amy Chandra, Editor in Chief of Midtown Girl and founder of Socialista New York! This movie is available in select theaters on April 20th, On Demand as well as on Facebook! This event oozed Jamaican elements as we munched on Beef Patties, Chicken Patties, Veggie Patties, Cod Fritters and Jerk Chicken by Miss Lilys. I also loved the fun tote bag, tee (from Cedella's line) as well as cosmetic case. This event gave us a peek into Bob Marley's life and the event allowed us to also see Cedella Marley (daughter of Bob Marley) via Skype to talk about her father's legacy, his influence on fashion as well as her clothing line which pays tribute to The Wailers, has fun bikinis and she will also dress the men's and women's Jamaican Track and Field Teams as well during this Olympics!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Oscars Men

Happy Leap Day and why not enjoy the extra day with men that strutted their looks on red carpets and after parties at the Oscars! Uggie the dog who has been on a number of shows for his acting in The Artist, attended The Weinstein Company after party with his fabulous bowtie! His costar, Jean Dujardin looks dashing as he's waiting for a kiss from his wife, Alexandra Lamy. Who could forget the footage that we saw of Sean Diddy getting lint rolled for a number of minutes before he was ready to hit the famed carpet? Above he is pictures above with the producers of Undefeated - to his left Dan Lindsay and to the right, TJ Martin. I love that George Clooney, who starred in the Ides of March, chats up the press in his suave style for a few moments. Jonah Hill, nominated for Moneyball, brought his mom as a date and thought that he looked so cute when he was interviewed during E!'s red carpet show. His costar, Brad Pitt also looked amazing when he hit the red carpet.

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Rocks Slumber

The other day I was chatting with my friend who is beginning the early stages of finding the amazing guy and realizing that there is definitely a future with him. She's in the stages of bringing items over to stay in as it's not quite the time to leave items over - according to her. It made me think about how we go into so much effort into our looks from what we wear in the day and then at night. If we had the opportunity, how would we dress our guy or in many cases, if a guy was thinking of how he should rock his slumber style, how would he do so?

I would think that he would want to keep it easy and comfortable so I have a long sleeve grey tee from Surface to Air and paired with these suede bottoms in navy from Polo Ralph Lauren which is perfect for sleeping in, staying up and running to the bodega across the street! He can also slip into UGG Australia's Byron slippers which will keep him warm and allow him to keep this fab casual look. I have to say that I love rocking a scarf indoors so I can't help but to pop in this portion on the easy look available at Luisa Via Roma. Stephen Webster's onxy signet ring is a fab way to round out the accessories. Finally, we love a man who rocks fab beauty and he can do this simply with his Jack Black kit which ensures that he has all the basic necessities to maintain his fab good looks!

Treasure Tuesdays: Event ~ Coach Carriage House Archives

Last night, I headed to the west side to see the upcoming Coach Spring 12 collection! Although I have been to the showroom, Legacy Stores and more, this was the first time (as well as American press) that I had been to the Coach Carriage House Archives! It was quite a treat as everything that you see which is in cases has been cataloged much like a library and goes back to the beginning of the heritage of the brand - which started with men's! They are one of the the few American leathergoods that does this! I enjoyed seeing one of the first kits that men held their shaving items in (which included an old box from Gillette) as well as a ball and catchers mitt from way back in the day! They also had many suitcase sets that were chic and items from newer collections of Coach and Poppy that were on display. Many people looked for their first bags within these cases.

Of course, Spring 12 was on display and I loved seeing this gorgeously blue woven bag which I think every girl will want to have on their arm, these super cute almost pill box satchels which is another nod to a mod era brought current as well as an amazing collab which will be available within the mens stores although it's totally unisex. It's an ode to NYC and is reversible which I love! The images on his bag showcase sunglasses (which you see everywhere in NYC), coffee cups (the fuel that we use in NYC) and handcuffs (so not touching how or why but it's an image he has). Take some peeks at the images from above and the archives which is rather an extensive area!

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Rocks My Look

It's not a shock that men and women can rock one another's look and it's not always about androgyny. Menswear is popular in women's looks and there are a number of items in women's that can be worn by a man. My boyfriend loves rocking my beauty product - shower gels, facial scrubs and more and yet he's still as manly as you can imagine. Today I have the left side of the spread focused on a men's basic look in outerwear, women is on the right and in the middle goodies to share! I love the his and her look and with the rain that we received yesterday, I got to think about rocking trench's by Burberry and fab shoes by Cole Haan. I could so see Paul and I walking in Soho between my brand meetings wearing this classic look with well worn fab shoes that have a brownish/grey look to it. Of course, the cutest thing ever is that we can share the accessories! Paul loves carrying my totes when they're too heavy and this Fendi one can go either way and is super luxe. I love my scarves and am never without one as the weather gets closer to the fall. Love Quotes is phenom and when we're done sharing a cigar and a bevvie, I can wrap him up in it to take a pic! I do love his and her looks!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Violet Icon

To say that Elizabeth Taylor could be summed up as a Style Icon would not describe her. Being a woman who acted in a number of movies such as Cleopatra (in my top 5 and my sister feels was in a tie with) and The Taming of the Shrew, she was also stunning, gorgeous, vivacious - a Scarlett O'Hara type come to life. In her time, she was loved by many and yet this British born actress who passed away yesterday morning, was also an activist against the fight against AIDS and as a humanitarian, simply loved people and found the beauty in everyone. To say that it's a loss to lose one of my (and many other) style icons (others include Audrey Hepburn and many of the classic 30's and 40's actresses) simply doesn't light a candle on her poise and grace. We don't normally talk about the passing of others on Kitten Lounge but when someone embodies so much of what I can appreciate and respect, you have to take more than a moment to realize the magnitude of light that she provided in her 79 years.

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Casual Plaid Love

The plaid shirt is analogous to my love for rocking skinny jeans and leggings at any given chance! With that said, when you have a staple that is without question, your "go to piece" then you have to think about all the ways that you can wear it to keep it fresh. This week and next week we tackle the plaid issue for men. This week, we look at the casual way of wearing it and pairing it with appropriate graphics that definitely highlight you chic vibe of being comfortable. In addition, there are number of shoes that you can wear to complete the look. I have become a fan of Adidas for men so it's nice to see this included within the spread! For those who embrace this look, we'll see you wearing it this holiday season, at brunch, traveling and so much more!

This holiday means that you have to have comfy clothes for all the eating BUT you also need to make it versatile as you may be traveling to one or multiple locations. Regardless, you want to feel like you're home and you want to be able to tote around goodies whether it's a bottle of wine or a video game that you all plan on playing to keep up your tradition! This look is all about a casual, chill vibe with one of our favorite brands Public School which we think is an essential line that needs to be in you're sig others closet for sure! Wearable Wednesdays ~ His Style Slumbers

Wall Street style by day, downtown village vibe for brunch but his style is so multifaceted. We all know how it is when we get that date to come over (oh the possibilities) it could be for a movie, having a dinner or just hanging out in general. After a fun night, you can't let it in. There is something to be said for hanging out at his place as he gets to be in relaxed clothing and you get to know more about him. Whether you're staying for one more movie or love how your conversation is going - his sleep style is always of interest. He can't go wrong with a simple tee or tank and then the pants which are a boyfriend cut of the pant and is perfect if you have to take them to run out. This is yet another side of him that you will be happy to see more of.

Fashionable Fridays ~ Movember Workdays

What a week! There has been a lot going on and with it being holiday season, there is more on the way to be sure. I relish the days when I can stay home and get through tons of work and squeeze in a few conference calls. On days like this, it's all about being comfy and nothing is more work ready for me then rocking my love of grey with boyfriend pants which are perfect for laying around the house and answering the door as packages make their way to me via messenger. The Mo Fedora Tee is apart of Palmer Cash's cool collection of tees that are apart of their Movember movement. This initiative is all about purchasing tees within this collection where $10 goes towards the fight against prostate cancer. Did you know that 32,000 men a year are affected by this? So join in by purchasing a tee or joining a team which Kitten Lounge has a Movember team that you can join! Join the fight and rock amazing style and on the off chance that I head out of the house since it's super chilly out there - I want to keep my iPod protected with the super cute hoodie.

Yesterday's shows continued to be as entertaining as the day started and Custo Barcelona was filled with color and mens and women's looks. Whether it was cool sneakers for guys or sky heels - this was the best portion of this line! Check out some of my favorite looks and for more, check out Elle.com

Trendy Thursdays: Notes From Paris ~ La Révolution Masculine

Notes from Paris is a series of posts from Valerie Nahmias, Beauty Editor of Femina Magazine in Paris. Brought together by our mutual friend and fashion photographer, Franco Lacosta, her posts will be featured each month bringing us her insights on beauty from products to fabulous tips! Last time, Valerie talked about the heritage ofEstee Lauder! Today she lets us in on beauty's masculine revolution that is taking!

After years of taboos and hesitation, men realize that they have as much rights as women do! To look better, to feel better and to enhance their natural beauty.

" I love wearing makeup, it enhances my mood, I feel sexy, strong, seductive, mysterious, androgenous, and incredibly sensual!!" said the great artist Franco Lacosta in one of our conversations about beauty. I suddenly understood how men have become demanding and have decided to finally confront society through wisdom and freedom - and freedom means make-up!

Self-tanners, bronzing powder, Khôl for the eyes, concealers, matte varnish for nails or just stain lip balm, the make-up for Men has established itself in today’s market.

We always had many tribes that make up their faces and their bodies as a way of expression, means for a cure or to continue to have communication with their ancestors and Gods.

Revelation? Revolution? …A new tribe is born! The men who are confident enough by not living life by society rules.

The time when make-up was reserved for women-only is over. Freed from taboos, the new man takes his flight, has fun by making himself better looking, replaces his day cream by a coloured moisturizer, adds a touch of tanning powder anti-shine to his ritual, a line of light brown khôl in the eyes, a zest of lip balm, or a wide line of very black powder to eyebrows, that makes him terribly sexy!

Today, we are lucky to have Jean-Paul Gaultier as the chief of a tribe where men and woman share a duality for many things, such as perfumes and now make up, and still have the desire for each other more than ever…

Ultra smart, the line of make-up for men "Tout beau Tout propre" of Jean-Paul Gaultier is simply irresistible. These products are, above all, studied to be discreet, underline the good features of the face, conceal the signs of fatigue, and reveal their true beauty.

It's about time... MEN can finally be good-looking, and be our superhero without the mask!!!

SUPERMEN!!!

Valerie is the Beauty Editor of Paris' Femina Magazine and it's blog Redaction Beaute and has spent her years in the fashion/beauty industry. She was an assistant at French Elle Magazine for Carine Roitfeld (who is now French Vogue's Editor in Chief) and wrote the book, Pour Etre Belle.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Organic Beauty

The more I run around the make up counters, the more I learn about makeup! One of the things that I have started to think about incorporating into my beauty regimen is not only product that makes my skin look great but also that it's good for my skin. Christopher Drummond Beauty is an organic beauty line that not only has minerals within it but as apart of their initiative, they also support various organizations as PETA, Susan G Komen and more. In addition to having a variety of products for men and women, I also love that Christopher Drummond Beauty is a resource by sharing with its readers where they have appeared, providing information on their products and more. In an age where people want to know a lot more about what they are purchasing, I find the site to be highly informative as well as finding great products that will keep your skin healthy and happy!

Mingling Mondays: Keeping it La Cucina

As you know, Mondays are always dedicated to food and today, I thought we would present food in another way! During my interview with A.W. Gryphon, the novelist of Blood Moon, I found out that she is a screenwriter and while she has this new book release, yesterday, her movie, La Cucina, showed at the LA Femme Film Festival. This festival looks to support women filmmakers and is also a great way to have a Q&A with those in the know in the industry! You can still check out the days events although it has concluded. But I definitely wanted to share some info about the movie as I would love to see this when it comes out on DVD or if it appears in a festival in my area!

La Cucina has an amazing cast including: Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Joaquim de Almeida (Clear and Present Danger), Leisha Hailey (The L Word), Rachel Hunter (Rodeo Girl), Oz Perkins (Legally Blonde), Clare Carey (Jericho), Kala Savage (That 70's Show) and Michael Cornacchia (The Bernie Mac Show)and is a story about how lives can connect and the complications that exist when there is so much being done, but not said. At the same time, no matter the complications, there are commonalities and there is a central place - the kitchen is such a place. It's a place where people can come together and share in a way that other places may prove difficult. The movie centers around four meals and although there may not be an ending that ties everything together, there is something to be said about having the possibility of a happy conclusion or at least the hope to make things right.

Trendy Thursdays: Beam Brings You Into the Daylight

I have to say that one of the things that I love most about Fashion Week above and beyond the shows is that it's a time when people come together to see people you run past daily or who you only talk to via emails. It's also a time when you have the opportunity to meet others through people that you already know. This can take place at shows, in the tents, parties and so much more. Simply put, it's a great way to relationship build!

Well, the night before Fashion Week, Total Beauty kicked off this week of events by throwing a party and via Sam from Dark PR, I had the pleasure of meeting Andrea and Liza Young, the Brazilian sister duo that is behind New York's prominent, Beam Laser Spa (1841 Broadway Suite 806). The night that I met them, I knew that not only did they look adorable but I was definitely intrigued to learn more about the services that were available at this spa. Fortunately, we were able to meet again and I settled on a date and time to not only have an appointment but to learn about the spa!

Trust me when I say that I was a little nervous to have my appointment. Although the idea of never having to shave under my arms again seemed like a dream, the idea of having a laser on me was a little too Goldfinger for my taste. But my apprehension was calmed by being greeted by Liza who has such a great calm personality, I love that she chatted and explained my forms and one look in the office makes you feel a bit of Zen. Andrea has such an amazing personality and beyond having a bubbly personality, knowing that she is a molecular biologist with an MBA and has worked within the hair removal industry for many years, made me feel that she was knowledgeable about various techniques and had seen the evolution of them.

My initial concern was the obvious - pain, I love how she explained that in areas that had less hair, you wouldn't feel as strong of a sensation as denser areas. In fact, the sensation would be temporary. Seeing her demo the laser and watching the puffs of air that came out that cooled the areas that had received the laser was very calming. But another issue that still remained was that I had always heard that African Americans were not able to have this treatment or that many people felt it simply wasn't for them. Even my mom was shocked that I had received this treatment as she explained that back in the 70's she had had laser treatment in her face and that later her dermatologist had explained that it wasn't for women of color. In fact when Googling on various message boards, I found this response along with warnings of scars and spots appearing on the skin as a huge warning against doing this.

Andrea's knowledge and answer to this question was shocking to hear. In spas that have these laser treatments, those who are olive to darker skinned should find out what kind of wavelength is used in terms of the procedure. Those that are darker need to make sure that their facilities have a dual laser machine which has an Alexandrite and a Yag wave. The YAG wave is for those with darker skin and although it penetrates deeper into the skin layer bypassing the skin color, it has a slightly reduced effect that still removes the hair without lightening our color. I found this amazing and was pleased to know that laser treatments could be an option for all skin tones.

Andrea explained everything, answered questions and continued to make me comfortable. Now for those who are thinking of getting this treatment, they offer a free consultation where they do a patch test. This is where you choose a small area and they do the procedure so that you can have a sample. In many cases, over 90% of those who do the consultation, come back to actually get it done. With all this knowledge and hearing this percentage, I was ready.

Prior to this, I was not able to shave about a day or two before coming in and (to my grossed out dismay) I didn't have deodarent on. Since I was doing my underarms, Andrea, shaved the arms to make sure it was clean, drew the area that would be treated with a white pencil and then used the laser. This procedure probably only took 10 mins total. At first the sensation of feeling the beam and then the cold air on my arms just felt different as you don't usually have this on you; however, when it got to the denser areas, there was slight discomfort. I love that she guaged my reactions and when I needed a slight breather she stopped. She continued to chat with me and you were able to continue. When it was over, aloe was placed under my arms.

I was shocked that it was over so quickly and after she examined my arms, she said that it didn't look aggravated. I felt a slight discomfort but absolutely nothing major. Now when you sign up you know that you will have to do somewhere between 6 - 8 treatments and they are spaced out by 6 weeks. Each time the hairs are growing in less and you can see the difference. In fact, within 3 weeks, both sisters said that I would notice hairs under my arms but that they would literally fall out. Although I am not a fan of stray hairs, the idea that I am one step closer to not having to shave is AMAZING.

When I got home, I checked under my arms and each day (as this took place on Sun) I am amazed that I haven't really seen anything! They offer so many services and I would start with doing your underarms. Because this is such a new thing for me and I have my next treatment in Nov, I will keep you guys up to date on how everything is going. Three weeks from now (actually from this past Sun), I will let you know if I see any hairs. The sisters reminded me that if I have hairs that are growing in by then and have not fallen out, they would take away the stray hairs at no cost.

The care they take from the time they walk in the door to when you leave is amazing and being comfortable is half the battle! Beam Laser Spa is definitely a place that I will refer to my friends and if you guys go there, you have to let me know your thoughts!

Fashionable Fridays ~ I'm All About Nobis

MaxieWhen something is cute, it has to be shared and Nobis has a cute line that is perfect for men and women - which is generally a rare find. Fortunately, Nobis has a great look for those that are looking to enhance their metro chic and when you want to add more to your look, you need to look at their apparel as well! This hat, known as the Maxie, is a grey newsie that has cute little details! I love that under the brim there is a bit of plaid and around the hat there are little loops that pick up this plaid as well. Nothing is better than wearing something that is seen as being a little masculine and then being femmed up with little details. I love the logo of the Nobis which is placed as a button on the side. This is so the look you can rock when you're having a great hair day or when you simply need to have something to cover a do that you would rather not have to deal with today. How cute is this when you're heading out for a game, taking a walk with your sig other or you're just out and about with your sunglasses. Either way Nobis has a great collection and one that we should all embrace no matter what our look!
