I love sharing interesting tidbits with you guys! Whether it's an event that I attended, a new find or simply something that you may be interested in doing - it's always fun to keep you in the know. Today's goodie comes from our new friends from Bebe. It Girl is a contest that is sponsored by Bebe, ELLE Magazine, Elite Model Management and Look Model Management. Together they're looking for your submissions to find the It Girl. From now through April 3rd, you can submit your photos and other info to Bebe's It Girl site. 600 semi-finalists will be chosen and will have the opportunity to do an in store photoshoot in NYC, Chicago, Miami, LA, Atlanta and San Francisco. Those who participate here will receive a 20% discount which will definitely help you with getting a wardrobe just in time for the best part of the Spring.
One finalist from each of the photoshoots will be chosen to go to LA (yes flight and hotel are covered). They will receive an outfit courtesy of Bebe, a $250 Amex Gift Certificate and a photoshoot from a photographer that's with Elite. This is a great way to build your book and of course to meet the other finalists that represent their cities as well.
Finally the winner will of course get an amazing gift: a photoshoot with Bebe, a 6 month modeling contract with Elite Model Management and Look Model Agency, $1,000 cash price, $1,000 wardrobe from Bebe and of course a chance to be featured in ELLE! This is defintiely an exciting opportunity and one where you simply have to enter in order to be considered! Take some time to check out Bebe's It Girl page and begin submitting your info as the last day is April 3rd! Enjoy this video which shares some info about this contest.
A lot of areas are my weaknesses so it's hard to say which one I lean towards; however, lingerie is my top 5 wothout a doubt! Not only do I love it but I love supporting brands that are based out of Miami! Cosabella is based out of Miami and is made in Italy (I would say this is a luxurious combination)! I love the various collections that really embrace the personalities through women as lingerie is something that definitely says a lot about you or what you're truly thinking. If that doesn't convince you, then you should also know that Cosabella has made various pieces in honor of Sex and the City which is all about 4 personality filled women who learn about their lives and continue to empower themselves. A little birdy tells me that there is a definitely a second movie and that they will be contributing yet again!v This officially puts Cosabella on my radar as I love the brand but I also love its involvement.
Now with it being Valentine's Day soon, it's important to think about a gift to give or something that you want to give yourself! Whether it's meant for another's eyes or something that will make you feel great after a long day, Cosabella is definitely a brand that will work well in setting you apart from others while putting you in the best light possible!
Today looks gorgeous but yet I know that it is super cold! I have a social media seminar that I am giving today, some errands in the city and then hopefully I can figure out a few things that I need for my laptop so that I can bring in some great content for the new Kitten Lounge starting on Monday! I think I will also buy this bathing suit and a few other items as well. I had to get up early and I won't get back in until this evening but I'm excited to get moving and grooving today. I am also planning my vacation today as I need to get a bit of that summer feel! Somehow with all the excitement, I still wish for South Beach breezes!
The other day Bogosse had an amazing night, sharing it's fashions on and off the runway! Bogosse has definitely been worn by various people such as Tim Roth and Ryan Seacrest; however, I love that it's a classic look with a twist! I am a fan of the oxford shirts and if you like this style and want to be noticed, this is the line for you! The Hatian born brother duo of Patrick and Fabrice Tardieu created a line that showed off their style. With Patrick being the Captain of the National Soccer Team of Haiti (and now the CEO of Bogosse) and with Fabrice having experience in Armani France (Bogosse's current Creative Director) - they created this line which is full of style and pop!
The other night, the line was not only shown; however, two friends of mine (we all met when we worked at Abercrombie on 5th Ave when it first opened), hit the red carpet! Amanda Alter (oh yes that would be from Project Runway) and Tyler Barns (Abercrombie Model) were on the Red Carpet to lend their support to this amazing event. Take some time to check out the amazing designs and although it is Miami based, their flagship store is in St Tropez! I love a brand that is centered around just wovens - perfect to go out in after work, to wear at work and without feeling like a traditionalist!
Last week I talked about how much I liked Poko Pano and now I can show you my favorite bikini from last night's show at the Mercedes Benz Swim Miami Fashion Week Show at the Oasis. I love that there is a lot of sweet and sass in this collection and you're super beach ready when you are wearing these cool colors. I love the play with prints and the fact that this suit is definitely complimentary with its top and bottom; however, it isn't matchy matchy! What a great show to be included with the end of this series of Fashion Week since last night was the final day. There are a lot of shows and images that are still amazing to look at, so click the link above. For next year when considering attending the shows, think about how you can get that amazing VIP access by purchasing your tickets through AMEX so that you're not only front row but you can enjoy other member only benefits such as the parties and the trunk shows. In addition to checking out the main site, Coutorture has also kept a close eye on the shows so you can also check it out here as well!
Oh if only I could have been in Miami to see the shows! That was a great day to see many of my favorite swimwear designers. But when I think about my swimwear, I have to say that my cover ups are a bit lacking. I think they're cute but they tend to be an after thought and that just isn't an appropriate way to approach this portion of my closet! Tibi's line hit the runway and my favorite look happened to be this coverup! I love a great Boho Chic look and I love the whimsy that it is in this piece. This is definitely something that I would wear while in South Beach at my friend's condo or when you know you are going to a very chic poolside party! A great pair of Grecian sandals is the perfect way to touch off this look and of course a cute accessory or two! There are more great looks from this show available on Mercedes-Benz Swim Miami Fashion Week and of course you can see all the other amazing designers as well!
Last Fri the runways were full of bathing suits and fabulous swimwear! One of my favorite designers, Syla by Sylvie Cachay, hit the catwalk with a super cute Boho Chic look! My favorite look from this show is definitely this piece! I love the simple cream color but the accessories are absolutely amazing and definitely something that I would wear! It's hard to say which accessory is my favorite but clearly my eye was drawn to the belt which looks like it could be agate but I'm not sure. This piece would look cute with a slim fitting jersey or over a tank and a pair of jeans. I love this natural style and think that sometimes it's nice to go beyond wearing prints and to go with something simple and chic which looks amazing no matter where you opt to wear this. This piece and many more can be see on the Mercedes-Benz Swim Miami Fashion Week site as there were a lot of great looks for this show.
Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was kicked off last night with Diesel at the Raleigh Hotel's Pool Deck and of course, I had to share my favorite look from that night! I love the colors and think that this is definitely a swimsuit that would turn heads wherever you are! Of course I am a huge fan of side ties as well. A lot of the shows will go on tonight so I can't wait to share some of my favorite looks! You can also see all of the swimwear (they had a cute set for the kiddies) in photos and as a video by visiting Mercedes Benz' Fashion Week site!
This week we will temporarily focus on an event that is literally my favorite in the entire fashion industry! Maybe because I did a lot of bathing suit modeling at one time but I love Fashion Week Swim and Miami and when both are combined, you can't get any better than that. Next year I am promising myself that I will be an attendee/press (and gasp how great would it be if a swimwear line actually wore my - Kitten Couture Until then, I am dedicated this week to the Mercedes - Benz Fashion Week Swim Event!
So this week, we will be covering a variety of designers from the launch party at the Raleigh Hotel all the way to the very last show! The good thing is you don't have to have Uber VIP status to attend and you can still let your presence be known and get various forms of access to this event via American Express! You can enjoy a Poolside Cabana at the Meet and Greet at The Raleigh with a fab swimwear designer and of course you can see all the swimwear lines such as Red Carter and Ed Hardy!
I am so bummed that I will not be able to meet Tibi's swimwear designer, attend the Diesel show, go to a card member only private trunk show! This is a such a great time and if you will be there and are a card member, check this out and if you're aiming to be at the event next season, I will see you there without question! Stay tuned this week to find out about all the great designers at my favorite season's Fashion Week - sigh!
A few years ago when I was in South Beach, I went to Mansion and fell in love with it! Now a couple of years later, it's exciting that it will be here and they are having a private opening tonight in West Chelsea and just in time for Fashion Week's last night, they will be open to the public on Friday! Mansion is definitely going to be interesting as it will take its place on West 27th street (they will be in the same location that formerly housed Crobar)! This is definitely going to be a nice place to be as we get into the spring and the summer. This weekend, make your way down to this new club.
Growing up, I was sad when I had to take my favorite summer pieces and fold them away to make way for all that was winter. I felt ludy Rudy from the Cosby show when she really wants to wear this plaid dress, but the weather has turned and her mother refuses to let her wear it. I always liked that episode. But now, have you noticed how people can still by spring/summer pieces year around AND you don't get crazy looks. I also love the fact that when it starts to get seriously cold, the topic of conversation in the office turns to February getaways in the islands! With that said, we need to have constant access to summer wear. If you don't feel like shopping in stores and want something with a little flavor, try these fun designs by Echo Designs that they carry coverups, shorts and much more. This is perfect for laying out, long nights dancing and the moments of purchasing amazing finds in little boutiques. Take a peek at what's here and remember that as you build your closet for this season, you can always purchase for the next or a future location. My favorite piece is the second from the right. I love that this is perfect for South Beach (my favorite place). It can start out as a great late afternoon cocktail dress and lead right into the perfect night for dancing as well. I love the pops of color and the design as well which ensures that you'll have an amazing time no matter when you wear this.
