Food Editor here on Kitten Lounge and boyfriend, Paul Belobritsky is in love with tiny toys! I bought "his and hers" Tofu Robot in pink (for me) and blue (for him). Since then, he has been on a quest to get more tiny robots and toys and I have come across some that I love as well. Recently I purchased one of the Cactus Friends from Tokidoki. I love the little spikes and they also did a collaboration with Hello Kitty as well. If you're in NYC, you can check out their Soho store and Melrose will be opening soon. After checking out there sight, I'd love to find a tee with the character that is on the upper left hand corner of this post! I think this is such a cute option for gifting!

I love transitions! Throughout the next few weeks, you'll notice new topics on Kitten Lounge! Although our days will stay with the same themes, our concentration has slightly changed. On the days where we cover fashion, I always present complete looks that allow you to see how an outfit can be accessorized - in many ways it becomes a look book or guide that you can use. At the same time, I love the idea of creating ideas of key items that you should think about getting in your closet. These fall along the idea of trends whether we're talking next season or what should be in your closet this season! Going forward, our Fashionable Fridays will now include Fab Five. The Fab Five are the top pics of items that I believe you should know about and even if you don't get the exact pair, the body should be something that you should think about within your favorite brand!

I think a boot is essential for this weather and now with boot styles that incorporate cutouts, these can be worn whether you're in NYC or visiting friends in South Beach! My top three boot picks include Alexander McQueen's Grommet boot (perfect when you're look needs to have more of an aged or rocker look with edge), Dsquared2 Spectator Bootie (probably not good for our chilly NYC days; however, I love the old world style that is brought into today's look) and finally Vivienne Westwood's Roman Boot (the red color is so delicious and being a girl that loves hardware - this is a must even with the peep toe - I love this pair).

Now when it comes to heels you have two choices (of course this is assuming that you already have a fab black pair and a cute tortoise shell pair as well) a pump that has pops of color and one that is an alternative strappy one. The pair by Guiseppe Zanotti has bold stripes and would be perfect t wear with a pair of jeans and a neutral color top. Maybe you and your girls are flying down to South Beach to get away from the chills of NYC - this pair will get you in a Sunshine State of Mind. Of course if it's a night out, you may want to consider Cesare Paciotti's heels which bring the inner golden goddess out of all those that wear them.

With all the things that our nations service men and women do, I hope that you think about their sacrifice and if you have the ability to do something, you should without a doubt on Veteran's Day!

Treasure Thursdays ~ Project Detox: Inner Ink

In an ongoing series, Keren Weinstein, our Guest Life-Balance Editor, took a much needed trip. More than the need to go on vacation to a new locale, she wanted to find her own sense of balance and thus Project Detox began. Last week, we horsed around and found our senses! Today, Keren shows us our need for our inner ink.

All good things must come to an end.

Or not!

In yoga, you practice being in the moment in order to truly connect to your breath, body, inner self. Once you are ‘there’ and let all the positive energy you created fill every part of your being, you then focus on taking it into your every day life.

‘Intraconnectedness’. Interconnectedness.

I may be leaving Arizona but the Journey within Myself continues.

Since I utilized my senses and was mindful each step of the way, my experiences on this trip run deep and true to my inner self, making a lasting imprint on my being.

An internal tattoo.

But I cannot depart without paying tribute to the scent that carried me throughout my journey.
I was first introduced to Creosote when I booked my trip. I was immediately intrigued. And, like you would for any potential prospect, I Googled it!

The Creosote (pronounced cree'-uh-sote) Bush is mostly found in the Desert Southwest. It blooms at the end of the monsoon season and is mostly known for its distinct after-the-desert-rain scent. (I LOVE the smell after the rain!). The plant is used by Native Americans, Mexicans and other cultures for medicinal use, ointments and healing teas. It can tolerate extreme drought stress and lives a long life.

Excited to begin ‘Experiencing my Tucson Experience’, I was sniffing for the indigenous Creosote from the moment I stepped off of the plane.

The obsession began.

Our first encounter was on my nature walk through Desert Oasis. Enjoying that desert dry heat. Strolling through a shmorges board of aromatherapy. Fresh desert inhales for a NYC girl. Even though I had already heard about this after-the-desert-rain scent, smelling that unique rain scent in such an arid locale was unexpectedly pleasant.

I was swept off my feet.

(Now I understand why many refer to it as the “heavenly essence of the desert”).

And you Know it must be love at first [sniff], when you fall for a scent that means ‘little stinker’ in Spanish!

I soon found myself asking the locals about it. Tracking its every step.

I admit. I might have been stalking Creosote.

But, I was a few weeks short from being there during the core of this plants’ bloom season and I wasn’t going to let that get in the way! My intention (AKA Horse Power) was set. I was destined to experience it.

And I wasn’t going to just take it all in! This full time working mother on a Project Detox trip was going take it all back. To live. To share. To last.

I literally ‘followed my nose’ chasing Creosote through Tucson. And it lead me to Salud Spa Bar.

Salud Spa is a very chic scent studio located in Tucson and one of the very few places that have bottled the essence of the after-the-monsoon desert scent. Their Creosote Blossom perfume is a refreshing blend of dewy agave, earthy creosote blossom and a hint of desert musk. Unique and fresh, I love it on but it also works great as a home scent.

The master blender Kelly Podorsek Founded Salud to create trend-setting, boutique perfumes and haute tonics custom scents that people can afford. She left a flourishing corporate career to follow her passion (and her nose) to create Salud and inspire people to savor the everyday essences of their lives.

But it’s in speaking with Kelly and reading the quote she posts on her site that made me realize that finding Creosote ‘captured in a bottle’ at Salud Spa Bar was like coming full circle with the essence of my trip.

It's so hard! When the weather starts getting chilly but I'm watching shows like the Hills, I wonder why I couldn't have decided to move to LA as opposed to being in NYC. But then I remember that NY is someplace that I could never be away from and if cold is the tradeoff, then I would need to just deal with it! The good news is, I'm able to travel so I never have to stay in the cold for too long. Thinking of LA makes me remember that I have plans to visit later on this year or as late as Feb and I love the idea of mixing an element of summer with a bit of fall. I'm obsessed with kimono outfits (yesterday I was wearing a kimono top over a pair of jeans) but if I were out an about in LA, I would love this simple Kimono jumper by Joie paired with these booties. I love that they're suede and have a bit of rocker detail. You'll see a lot of spreads that are within the "beach theme" from now until early September (bday is Sept 12th). This is mainly due to the fact that I will be celebrating my 30th birthday in South Beach - complete with cabana, some fun rooms for my guests at the Loews Hotel and more. Yes I will be missing a few days of South Beach but I couldn't think of a better place to enjoy sun and to get out of the city for awhile. DJ Eloy has a residency in NYC and in Long Beach! Currently he is playing at a few clubs in Seattle and there is a London tour being finalized as well! Not only is he a great DJ but he is known for his innovative style! One of my favorite things that he does is what I call a Video Mashup (not sure if this is the technical name for it). This allows him to mix two different songs together not only with the melodies but the video footage as well. There are various videos on the site but since I'm relaxing after a night out with the girls, I have picked this video with Kelly Clarkson!

Today I'm waking up in Chicago! It was time to leave NYC and check out some other areas now that the weather is warmer and although I have a lot on my agenda for such a short time, I can't wait for the Indie Designer Market which is today and tomorrow! This is a great time to check out and to purchase pieces from indies while supporting the idea that we want these individual designs to thrive! I'm excited to see Objets d'Envy as I have been posting about this amazing jewelry line since I first found out about it! To finally meet Kristin and to purchase an amazing Swarovski Crystal piece in person - priceless! But I'm not there just to see those who I write about it! I also want to share with you the next best thing whether it's fashion or accessories! I love that the idea of baby wipes isn't just for those adorable bundles of joy! Jamar Labs not only wants to make sure that you're clean but that it's safe for you as well! I'm a Dove girl and if you asked me years ago, I don't think that I would have said that but it has been a journey to say the least! Growing up, I thought of Dove as the classic white bar that your parents knew about and never thought of it as something that I would use throughout my beauty regimine. Instead as I went through college, I found myself trying one brand to the next without finding something that was an essential. It was frustrating but I never thought that there were other options. It was once I moved to New York that I became drawn to the facial wipes. I think it was the convenience of being able to have a wipe that included soap and would make the start of my day so easy! After falling in love with that, I added the deodarent, soap bars for when I traveled and even the liquid soap!

Cinco de Mayo is always a lot of fun to get a few friends together and to enjoy a great party! Fortunately, I received a great tip about a restaurant that will have great food and drinks from 5 - 7pm! Not only is Elizabeth included within our Beaches, Backyards, Roofdecks and Barbecue Guide, but it is one of my favorite picks for a night out for Cinco de Mayo. Elizabeth is known for its Outdoor Garden which will be "the spot" for the big festival tomorrow. Enjoy .50 shots, tequila flavored sorbet/gelato and tacos - and yes $5 Taneto cocktails. I will defintiely be here and I can't wait to see what goodies will be in the Pinata as well! This is a great way to kick off May and even if it's rainy, the specials will more than make up for it!

We all know of Pay it Forward, doing something for someone else not for any kind of gain; however, I was recently touched by something that I wanted to share with you and hope that you can assist. The other day, a friend of mine told me the saddest story about someone who has worked in the fashion and beauty industry for a number of years and in the sake of anonimity - as she would be shocked to have her story told, I had to see if there were those who could offer assistance. This woman has helped many people in the industry by finding them amazing jobs, being a mentor and a friend. Prior to her losing her job due to the economy, she became ill with a disease and later found that she had breast cancer. Being someone who has helped so many people, it was shocking to learn that she felt she couldn't reach out to her friends and with no money, weight loss and more, she has run out of food and she even needs clothing (she is an XS).

As my friend told me this, I saw how upset she was and felt that I should reach out to my community of friends, PR people and more. Someone who has given so much to others now has so little. The outpouring of assistance that she recieved on my friend's behalf was AMAZING. To see someone from Trader Joe's who doesn't deliver offer to bring items to her and to pay for the groceries just because he wanted to assist was touching. If there are those that could help or know of someone it would be amazing. She is in the NYC area and we will continue to assist her as she continues to go through more challenges. Typically, Kitten Lounge talks about all that's fabulous and fun but we are also a HUGE believer in reaching out and getting our community together to assist others - I thank you for your time and feel free to contact me for further questions or ways that you could assist!

Sippin Saturdays: Chicago Edition ~ Pops Champagne

This weeked I'm in Chicago and if you are avid readers of the Kitten Lounge, you know that I covered Pops for Champagne in the holiday gift guide last year. Pops for Champagne is a super cute bar that has a number of champagnes available, a great crowd and a jazz bar that has music Thurs - Sun (I definitely want to come back to watch a show as I am a fan of jazz being the great neice to tenor saxophonist, Joe Henderson). Tonight, we enjoyed the Flat Bread Lamb which was an amazing combination of lamb, garlic puree, apples and this tasty melt in your mouth flat bread! This complimented our champagne which I am sad to say, I don't know the label.

This is the kind of place that you can test your champagne knowledge or put your tastebuds in the hands of staff that can find what works best for you and what compliments your meal the best. When it comes to a great night out to begin, end or stay - this is definitely a top place in Chicago to come to. I have to say, that I wish this champagne bar would be amazing to have in NYC and maybe one day it will come here (sorry Bubble Lounge). If you're in the area - come by and yes, you can still enjoy the game!

Last Saturday, I went to one of my favorite places that have definitely made my life easier! Beam Laser Spa lets me forget about how my underarms look when I'm out and about. On a recent trip to Orlando when the weather was toasty and I was seeking refuge from an impending snowy storm in NYC, I was completely ready! The sisters of Beam Laser Spa are definitely the ones to go to when you know that you want to look your best wherever you're looking to have no hair! Snazzy Sundays: S Factor & Tasty Morsels Bakery

Last night I enjoyed a fun evening at S Factor which was an open house/3 year birthday party. This is the infamous studio where you do pole dancing classes! I have to say that watching the demonstration made me want to join this class! This is a great way to stay fit, enjoy your body and of course to just enjoy having fun. I love the fact that it's an all women's group and really feel that it is an amazing opportunity if you have the chance to join. I have yet to join but think that I will try an introductory class without a doubt (thank you to those who showed me a few things - it was a lot of fun).

In addition to last night's event, there was a debut of Tasty Morsels Bakery which had the cutest cookies for this event. Since this was for S Factor, the cookies had corsets, frilly panties, lips and more. When I get these images, I will definitely let you guys know and update this post. Until then, if you are looking for tasty cookies with a great flavor and that can be customized, this is the bakery for you! It's perfect for events, corporate and anything else that you can imagine! The owner of this Brooklyn based bakery, Crystal Horton, is an artist which lends to the amazing creativity that she can do with her cookies! I am obsessed with Yelp! I love that even though it is a site full of reviews, that it's definitely an amazing community to bring people together! I love adding my two cents in and when I want to know about a vegetarian Thai restaurant, I placed this on a chat board and was directed to someone's personal list of Thai veggie places! This is such a great community and it is one where people are always listing events! If you have yet to check this out, you should and of course it's perfect for wherever you live! I have some items from Orlando (recent trip) and obviously NYC! In addition, this is not just about food, it's also about any place you go to that others should know about, My goal is to add items to this list that no one has ever covered! If you're on Yelp, let me know and I would love to add you!

Mingling Mondays: When The Ball Drops in NYC

When the ball drops in NYC, where will you be? Well for starters, the Kitten Lounge team will be at Gustavino's which is a fab facility with arched ceilings which are perfect to party in and with it being on 59th street, the drive in will be perfect! But there are a number of places that you should consider and so, here are 5 fab places that you may want to consider and of course you;ll want to get your group together and buy your tickets at Joonbug in order to make sure you can be together and ring in 2009 which is bound to be an amazing year!

1. Gustavino's - Our Food Editor loves high ceilings and interesting places, so it was a no brainer that the team should ring in the new year here as it is centrally located! I am psyched about the open bar, passed appetizers and more. I love dressing up and going to an area of town that I typically do not party in!

2. Duvet II - I have always loved partying here! I love the beds and how relaxed it is so I think that this is definitely a place to consider. Of course if you're going to be here, make sure that you reserve a bed as it adds to the luxury!

3. One - When it comes to one of my favorite places in the Meat Packing District, One is in my top 3! With that being said, this is definitely a place to go to for New Years Eve as I love the intimate vibe while also having enough space to flow from one room to the other! This is an essential when you're going to hang out at a place for awhile, a change of pace is always appreciated!

4. Amalia - The Dream Hotel is one of my favorite places. It has my favorite rooftop - Ava Lounge! I love that it has an amazing view of Times Square and yet you're a bit removed. I say that to say that the restaurant, Amalia is downstairs and is gorgeous! I love that it has a Louis the XVI vibe to it and everywhere you look, there is a feast for the eyes! In addition, selecting this party allows you to have a double combo with D'or.

5. Aspen - My final pick is for the group that wants to have a bit of nature while being inside! I have always been a fan of Aspen (always been so Freeman's like). I love that this is definitely a place to see and be seen! The Flatiron District is always a great place to hang out and is centrally located to wherever the night will take you afterwards.

So these are my top 5 faves and of course, you'll know where I will be! But there are plenty of parties to enjoy out there and you can search Joonbug as you plan one of the most important nights of the year! I will keep you up to date on what's going on over the next few days and will let you know of various parties in NYC and our sister city Toronto will be in the next post (I have to say that with it being a fashion capital, I had to show some love to them as well! If I wasn't here, I would be in Toronto ringing in the new year!).

You guys know that I love Dashing Diva. I have been getting my nails done there since 2003 or so! I have always loved how relaxed I feel when I'm there. Going from a super happy patron to someone who has attended their events and gotten to know the team including Robert and Alisha, it's nice to get a better understanding of my favorite salon and also seeing them step into new areas! I was so pleased to see a few things that have popped up over the past few days and had to share it with you!

Jennifer Hudson stopped by at my favorite location on 3rd Ave and 15th street to get her nails done for the shoot of the online video "SpotLight" (I love this song and can't wait to see this). Mingling Mondays: Paul's Post Will Be Here Later on This Afternoon But ..

So we are having technical difficulties with Paul's Honest Meal and it will be posted later on tonight; however, in the meantime I wanted to share something with all of you. I got hooked on Rosario Dawson's web series Gemini Division on NBC. It's only online and they are short little segments but it draws you in. I am not usually into Sci-Fi but I love this. While Paul was working on his post for today, I watched it - if you love NYC and a little intrigue, this is definitely for you by all means. And who hooked me on this interesting show, my mom the Sci Fi girl herself! If there is anyone else out there who loves this, let me know!! I am also trying to play the game that follows along with it. Does anyone remember when AI came out and they had an online game? Loved it!!!

Treasure Tuesdays: A Fab Puppy Bed

I can't wait until I get my Yorkie! We have set a time for sometime between after Thanksgiving and prior to Christmas! After speaking with my sister, she explained that I should begin reaching out to puppy breeders and introducing myself to them! This is definitely going to be fun research in addition to all the work we will do to getting everything for our new home - more details to follow once everything is solidified!

My favorite puppy store to walk by in the city is Trixie + Peanut (they also have a site online as well). I love this Cameo Blossom Pet Bed that they have which has a Yorkie pictured on it. I think that this is such a cute way to allow them to lounge while you're working or watching TV. I think that it has a fun design and is something both of you will enjoy!

When I get my weekly mani's and my bi-weekly pedi's, there is only one place that I run to (I simply refuse to go anywhere else)! Dashing Diva has multiple locations all over New York City and they are definitely my sanctuary when I need a little time out! I love their pink colors, plenty of colors, fun events and so much more. I do enjoy going on Fri's to get my pedicure and manicures with a nice cosmo (I was also a huge fan of their wine pedicure as well) Recently, Kitten Lounge attended Dashing Diva's event which had the cast of Legally Blond the Musical in attendance doing a Bend and Snap competition. The pictures included below are courtesy of Sarah Conley which you can see more of her coverage on Style It! This location which was off of Union Square is my favorite one to go to! It was really cute to see the cast members together and to see the winners of the Bend and Snap competition!

Dashing Diva definitely loves the Kitten Lounge and its readers and is providing 3 Elle of a Pedicures (fit for Ms Elle Woods herself) which we will be giving away on this site on Fri the Fourth of July at noon! Getting a complimentary pedicure at the 3rd Avenue location (149 3rd Ave btwn 15th/16th) is definitely an amazing treat and a great way to enjoy the summer as well. First, I have to say thank you so much to everyone who participated! I love when people leave comments and share something about themselves! If you have always wanted to know what you could do to relax, I would definitely take notes from the people who left their great pieces of advice! But unfortunately, we only can have 2 winners although it was so close, I decided to give away 3 Spongelle Soaps!

Congratulations Jennae who was my favorite, I think it's adorable that she is able to relax while having fun blowing bubbles with her child. Obviously, she's a busy lady between doing graphics, blogging and also dabbling in yet another form of creativity! I checked out her site at Green Your Decor and I think we should all take notes!

Another kudos to Mary Jenkins! I love taking baths too and although I find to get the perfect one, it takes some time - it's so worth it. Check her out at Now Entering Momville - I definitely started reading it when I had a second and gave me some much needed laughs!

And finally, I love keeping it simple so how could I not include Theresa N who does yoga in her garden? Maybe it's because I grew up in the Midwest and sometimes miss those serene moments being out in NYC but it made me feel refreshed just thinking about it!

I hope everyone takes some time to check out Solstice in Times Square brought to you by SoyJoy! What a great way to ring in the summer at the center of Times Square! I will not be able to attend this; however, I know that many people will be able to join this event. In addition to having SoyJoy as a prime participant, the Times Square Alliance has also brought this amazing event! I really love the idea and can't wait to post the video of seeing Times Square getting a little relaxing love with so many yogis in the area! I love that this will be offered throughout the day and you will also be able to see the participating studios as well! Bring a friend and some comfortable clothes to enjoy this event. In addition, I would also check out SoyJoy to see the amazing bars that are great to eat throughout the day. Not only are they tasty but they are perfect to have when you need to get a tasty snack!
