Like many of you, I have been sneaking in my Olympic sports when I can. I love watching the action as well as the fans! We all know that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge are avid sports fans and competitors themselves! Kate looks fabulous in whatever she's wearing but it has been fun during the olympic games to see her dressed down and super animated as she has been cheering on her teams!
The Olympics reminds us of the best of ourselves and following Gabby Douglas' story as well as seeing her actually win her individual and team metals makes us love her even more! Here at Kitten Lounge, we always thinking of styling people and since Gabby is young, I think of ways to dress fab people for their next event. I have to say that after seeing Gabby shine in her uniform, she deserves all the rest that she can get. I imagine that she wants to hang out with her mom and friends and if so, I'd love to see her in this super cute rocker chic meets prep type of look!
I love this Dance the Night Away tank by Tilly's available at Tilly's is perfectly paired with these black leggings from Topshop. I love playing with black and grey and pops of hues. This yellow drop necklace from Lola James is a cute piece to wear as well as this same designer's Boho Chic Bracelet set. To add to the luxe nature of this outfit, I love this David Yurman Citrine Wheaton Ring and a black version (I have this in cream) of this chain chevron Linea Pelle clutch and finally, pop in the casual nature of Converse fun lace sneakers!
Next week, we have the Opening Ceremony for the Olympics in London! France has such a dramatic look that will definitely catch the eye of those watching. Created by Adidas, I'm loving the long white trousers and the long coats as well. I could so imagine rocking these looks during the fall.
Suitsupply, for the third year in a row, will be dressing the Dutch Olympic and Paralympic team and their entourage! Their head designer, Murray Coetzee designed the above four looks which we will see next week during the opening ceremony. There is a nod within its style to iconic English sports and being trimmed by the colors of the Dutch flag. How cute is the oversized tulip just to remind you that this is the fkower of the dutch! How can you not love the tennis blazers and cricket cable knits. If you check out other portions of this collection which can be purchased, there are badges decorated with British landmarks.
In addition to loving the looks and wanting the trench coat! I would definitely suggest these fun hues if you're looking to rock a little orange and blue while watching the Olympics Opening Ceremony next week. As you know, I'm a huge fan of all shades Butter London and on my other days, Essie as these bring in both of the hues that these Olympians are wearing for their country.
Being a girl from the Midwest, I love sports and so the summer Olympics is definitely something that I am a huge fan of! If you missed our on my of the looks that countries will be wearing during the Opening Ceremony, events and Closing Ceremony - check out WWD (you may need a subscription) to see the spreads that started yesterday and will continue over the next few days! Each day we will focus on the Olympics and I had to start out with Team Jamaica! I had to share Cedella Marley's (daughter of Bob Marley and designer of High Tides looks as she teamed with Puma as well as the Jamaica Olympic Association and created a number of looks. You can definitely see the influence of her father as the opening ceremony has lightweight, short-sleeve button-front shirts in army green with black accents at the shoulders, a black skinny tie and an embroidered Jamaican flag patch on the right breast. This look is known as the “Buffalo Soldier button down” and has the words “Positive Vibrations” stitched inside of the collar, both references to Bob Marley songs. When I was at the preview for Bob Marley's movie here in NYC, Cedella shared these insights with us. Within this look, men have the choice to rock a military-style jacket or a sweater. The uniform’s trousers will be either yellow (with a black tuxedo stripe down the outer leg) or black.
Team Jamaica's ladieshave a single option for the opening ceremony outfit, which consists of a knee-length black-and-yellow allover leaf print skirt, Cedella Marley designed a black, military-influenced jacket with a green contrast stripe running vertically down the button placket, a green belt at the waist and green accents at the cuffs - known as the "Satisfy My Soul" jacket. The looks debuted earlier this month in London where she was quoted as saying to Usain, "... this is the first time Daddy is actually going to the Olympics ... and you’re going to be wearing him on your shoulder.”
The world is excited for the Summer Olympic Games! What's not to love about days of a number of events with sports you love and people that you can cheer for whether it's your country or a fave country that you've visited? This year's host city is London and we're loving the pieces that have been made to honor this! Butter London created a bronze, silver and gold nail polish set which allows you to rock medals on your nails. I also love that Jimmy Choo has their infamous acrylic clutch decked out in the Union Jack flag! Of course you can't talk Union Jack clutches without including Alexander McQueen's box clutch as well.
Earlier this week, right after N Natori's preview event, I went to Meet at the Apartment to see a special preview of Bob Marley the Movie thanks to Amy Chandra, Editor in Chief of Midtown Girl and founder of Socialista New York! This movie is available in select theaters on April 20th, On Demand as well as on Facebook! This event oozed Jamaican elements as we munched on Beef Patties, Chicken Patties, Veggie Patties, Cod Fritters and Jerk Chicken by Miss Lilys. I also loved the fun tote bag, tee (from Cedella's line) as well as cosmetic case. This event gave us a peek into Bob Marley's life and the event allowed us to also see Cedella Marley (daughter of Bob Marley) via Skype to talk about her father's legacy, his influence on fashion as well as her clothing line which pays tribute to The Wailers, has fun bikinis and she will also dress the men's and women's Jamaican Track and Field Teams as well during this Olympics!
Um there has been quite a bit of snow and last night I heard that we have the possibility of two more snowstorms coming! Although I'm a huge fan of the winter Olympics and love snowboarding, I am so over the snow. This week, I'm officially in the spring state of mind and refuse to think about anymore sweaters, layers, etc! It's all about cute dresses, heels, letting your toes be free and so much more! So of course, I had to kick in the color and no look would be complete without having a few fab accessories. This is perfect for weekend getaways, brunch and so many more Hamptons events! Check out some of my favorite designers and begin to build your wardrobe for the next season and try not to get too chilly when you go outside!
