While I was away at the Essence Music Festival at Crest, there were a number of celebrities making the rounds throughout New Orleans! Carol's Daughter had their pop up shop which allowed people to buy a number of their products AND to get a chance to chit chat with a number of celebrities! Unfortunately, I was in the midst of doing my Meet and Greets at Crest but I had to share two of my favorite people that I wanted to see if my times had meshed a little better - Erica from Mary Mary (which I ended up seeing later at NOLA Emeril's restaurant later that night) and who is pictured next to founder, Lisa Price and of course Tank! One of my fave products right now is the Macadamia Hold and Control Smoother which my boyfriend uses all the time to style his hair. I love that not only is this a fab product in terms of unisex use but as many of you know Paul is Italian, Sicilian and Hungarian and loves this in his hair so it's definitely a multi -texture tool! He loves using this on the front of his hair for a thicker look as he uses another styling gel for his sides for a sleek look and then another for the back. You can't say that guys don't pay close attention to their hair!

Last year (right before Sept NY Fashion Week to be precise), I was introduced to threading and headed to a salon in Soho. Now, I had heard about threading and have seen various locations throughout the city. As much as I wanted to try it, some of the cramped spaces made me a little nervous so I was happy to go to the salon I was introduced to. Just the other day, a few beauty bloggers were tweeting back and forth asking about their favorite threading salon. I had heard of Shobha but to see so many people excited about it, to see the depth of services and then to see that they had multiple locations including one in Columbus Circle and one on Madison in the East 50's - I was hooked! I knew I had to head there this week and when Jessica in marketing reached out to invite me to stop in, I couldn't say no!
I headed to the Madison Ave location where they have been in the same building but changed floors and was shocked to see a wide, airy and colorful space! There were chairs for those that were doing services that you could definitely do in an open forum; however, they had private rooms for those that were more discreet. I thoroughly enjoyed having Manju not only tame my brows but to also ask how I'd like to have them and to also make suggestions! In addition, I love that the treatment began and ended with rose water which smelled great but also felt so natural. In fact, they have such a depth of Shobha products that were made by natural formulas created by Shobha Tummala (love that she's a fellow midwest girl, went to college in the midwest and is a Harvard Business Grad - hello) that are available during your sessions, for purchase and many products are also available in bulk so you'll find them in spas!
At the end of my session, I left with rocking brows that opened my eyes (even more than my previous spot), Shobha Rosewater Freshening Cloths (both Manju and I used them to clean our hands prior to my threading and they were used to clean my eyebrow area prior to starting), Shobha Rosewater Calming Gel (which feels and smells phenomenal) and a Shobha Eyebrow Pencil for brunettes to fill in certain areas. I love trying new places and sharing with my readers of course, but I love when I have found a new home! Yes I just got back from Mexico late last night and anytime I travel, I have to spend a few days getting back into my mode. Now throughout this month, we're going to be featuring products for Breast Cancer Awareness. Today I'm keeping it chill and zen (this pic at an event this summer reminds of this state of mind) by enjoying a fab crisp Saturday and what better way to do it then to sit at home and enjoy a fabulous fragrance from Antica Farmacista with notes from peonia, gardenia and rose that can be infused within your home. In addition, the first thing I love to do when I'm home is that I love that I can do at home spa treatments. On one end you can get the perfect pout with a plumper and on other end you have a brown sugar scrub that keeps your lips as soft as silk. Last week was quite a week! Right before heading off to my press trip with Schick, I headed off the day before my trip to Suffern, NY to Avon's Research and Development Center! Now we all know about Avon, they have a number of products that help to make our lives better. They also have a network of representatives that bring these products to life as well. As I walked through the halls of a building that is not only architecturally pleasing but is intended to maintain conversation with scientists, we found out how nature created an innovative product that they launched, Lotus Shield. Interestingly enough it was decided that the Lotus plant was the best item that could ensure that our hair could look amazing as it would be the perfect anti-frizz control. We all know about Lily Pads and that no matter how rainy it is, they remain dry.
I love the fact that we watched the scientists show how using the Lotus Shield creates a seal on your hair when used for a week and will last for up to 3 days. In addition to being able to protect your hair, it still withstands multiple washes. As we were toured throughout many of the areas that Avon deals with (skincare, hair, beauty, etc) - I have to say that the part that left a strong memory was the Humidity Chamber. Avon tests all of their products to see what happens in various conditions, when it is shipped, etc. It's absolutely amazing and in this chamber, they simulate various temperatures on mannequin heads as well as real people. Seeing the door open and heat jumping out, we knew that Avon's commitment to providing the best product was something that they took seriously!
It was fun to enjoy the morning with fab beauty bloggers, to meet the scientists that have a hand in your favorite Avon products and to learn that this is something that they are truly passionate about! With the cost of a little bottle, I can say that you're hair is protected. We actually saw someone who had half her hair treated with this product, she was seated in the chamber and during lunch she came back with half of her hair looking silky smooth and the other half looking like the nightmare that you can only dream about in having the worst hair day ever! So obviously some back story is needed on this! I am someone who loves to work out! You've see me work with Exhale Spa to create fitness weeks where you can enjoy their services at a super promotional rate! We're kicking it off with Schick Quattro for Women, the Q Squad and Gina Lombardi and it culminates in Miami! So last week I received an email saying that the Q Squad is a group of women who represent Fashion Stylist iennifer Rade, Fitness Guru Gina Lombardi and Life Coach Gabrielle Bernstein (whose book I read and will be on this site soon). They will be working with a few bloggers (including me) over the next month to get us into shape and then to show off our work in fabulous Miami at the end of next month! I love Miami and I feel we can always learn new ways to be fit. Schick Quattro for Women is all about looking fabulous and on their Facebook Page you can get these women's tips as well as follow along with the bloggers that are in this program as well! They believe in smooth moves that enhance women's lives beyond having touchable skins and really facilitating the entire woman - mind, body and soul.
They had me at Miami but I read Gina's book and love the idea of her deadlines as many times we know that we should exhibit good health all the time but the reality is that there are deadlines such as I need to look good in 3 months for a trip, in 2 months I'm going to my reunion, I'm meeting my boyfriend's parents in 1 month or I have to land this part and the casting is in 2 weeks. Gina lays this out in Deadline Fitness and creates activities that you can do whether you use machines or don't! I am interviewing her on Mon so if you guys have questions please feel free to post them here or to send them in so that she can let you know her thoughts!
I am doing the 1 month challenge and will be kicking off the workout on Mon June 28th for 30 days straight! I have partnered with Natural Fitness which is a premium eco-fitness line as I will do the non machine workout and wanted to get their Burst Resistant Exercise Ball as well as their Soft Hand Weights (4 lbs) which I will use in lieu of dumbells! I am definitely all about eco and I love their concept "Green Your Workout. Green Our World." which is fab since not only are their products sustainable, but for each one sold, they plant a tree. They will be working with me and I will share the successes, goals, etc as I do my 30 days! So I am still at the PGA Show in Orlando and I have learned a lot about golf from such trainers as Corey Taylor (he defintiely knows his stuff and I believe he is training the #7 and #11 player in the world) to products that are necessary in order to enhance my game! I'm really excited to start playing again this spring and if you're in the area, we can definitely do a group thing. While I was at the show I found out about Keri Golf who is also concerned about the state of how we look when we play. I love the golf bags that she has available. Who wouldn't want vibrant colors and interesting patterns? This company is based out of Jersey and is definitely one that you want to look into when you're getting ready to hit the green! With Fashion Week getting closer to the end, it was important to us to also launch our Pink Lounge this week! The Pink Lounge is a shop where you will find various products where a portion of the proceeds will go to the fight against and the awareness of Breast Cancer. We know that there are various products that are available; however, the aim of this shop is to attempt to centralize these items so that you can see them in one place. Although this will not be a comprehensive list, I am excited to partner with those that would like to have their work added to this growing list.
