Shoe Sundays ~ Mint Please, Decor

We're about halfway through the month and although I have enjoyed Spring, I am thinking of the best of the summer which entails, having brunches at home, cocktails, summer houses, pool parties and so much more. Mint has been a hue that I have been working into my look and of course, I am inspired to bring it into my decor as well.

SHOE INSPIRATION

As always my looks find their way into my decor choices! I love the mint hue as it's subtle while also being a great pop of color. When it comes to this time of year, I love rocking a flat every now and then whether it's a dry day or a little rainy. These moccasins by Aunt Ruby are available at Anthropologie and are perfect to wear with boyfriend and skinny jeans. As you continue to wear them, they look better and better with every look you're rocking. When it's rainy and it's just a little mist or just puddles that have been left behind - this of an alternative to your wellies! Hunter Boots has these super cute flats which are the perfect way to still slip your foot into something comfortable while protecting them from the elements.

GET THE DECOR LOOK

With all of this mint for our feet, we're able to enjoy it within our homes no matter the size! In addition to having it in your home, if you're thinking about your summer homes - this is a great color to include. Roll over the above images to see why I'm loving these pieces that are perfect for your home from Anthropologie, Gilt, Nest Fragrances, Neiman Marcus, Spring Posey, Regina Andrew and Urban Outfitters.

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Rain Style

Although we have had a seasonably warm winter with sunshine and fab temperatures, we know that we still have 3 months of unpredictable weather! Eventually, we will hit that portion of the season where there will be rain, sleet, snow and the icky period of slush that can eat away at your footwear. Fortunately, there are options to this problem and with a season still ahead of us, I had to share with you some of my fave women's rain boots that keep you dry but stylish. I'm a big believer in having more than one pair as I love being able to change from one style to another depending on what's going on or how I'm feeling.

There are always key staples that one needs to think about. For those days that are near blizzard conditions, you simply want a pair of boots that cover as much of the leg as possible and have the most amount of warmth. I definitely suggest Lauren by Ralph Lauren Shoes' which has a bold blue look but will allow you to trudge wherever you are heading! If you need the ultimate coverage but need something sleek and chic, BCBGeneration has a fab pair of white boots that bring the mod look to your inner snow bunny! Coach's Janeva boot is a fab pic when you're thinking of something that is not only chic but for a night out! Although you may have to consider cabbing it in these - you know that whatever sidewalk you meet is definitely easier to navigate with them on! With so many options, check out other pairs that are currently available at Macy's!

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Rains Fashionably

He's super busy and a few raindrops are not stopping this train, to say the least! He has a million things to do and if it means NYC drops then he is simply going to have to prepare for the elements - it's not a monsoon after all. But then again, in NYC cabs are harder to get, subways delay even more and even opting to walk becomes a challenge as everyone walks at a "glacial pace" (Thanks Devil Wears Prada). Even so, he's prepared as the reward at the end of the day is a fab Ketel and soda to be sure. Jeans are a must in his world and although I don't see a lot of this on men, he is going to grab his Sorel Wellies to make sure his feet stay dry and that he has a bit of that military look and feel that we all need and want when we're taking on the world!

Over his jeans and shirt of preference, I am loving his Black Sport Quote Quilted Blazer from Ralph Lauren! I love that it knocks off the chill but that it's cut in a sport coat style so he maintains his smart look! Throw on his Paul Smith scarf as I am obsessed with the stripes and fun colors and really make this look pop with the key component of the day! London Undercover's fab umbrella is comical and whether you like a proper English Breakfast or not, you can't go wrong wearing this out and about or desparately trying to find it if you have to slide this into an umbrella holder in an office! Keep it all dry with this messenger bag that has a fab pop of red by Cole Haan.

Snazzy Sundays ~ Mud Room Inspired

This weekend we had fab weather but when I think of the fall, I think about beginning to add on layers - especially those you put on in case of inclimate weather. Growing up, when I visited my grandparents in Jersey, we also put items away in the Mud Room. This room was intended for rainy gear or umbrellas; however, we also used it for much of our outerwear. So in thinking of the Mud Room I instantly thought about these super cute Ashdale slip on shoes from UGG Australia that protect your feet from being wet but allow you be without your boots. I would wear this with jeans or other items and only when the rain wasn't torrential. Thinking of these fab hues, I thought about that cabinesque masculine since of hues and how this can pop up throughout your living space from red, blue, green and tan.

To start, your living space needs that leather chair from Ethan Allen and this rich tan hue is perfect as it's unisex in tone and begs to be dressed with this fab throw from Anthropologie. Lean back in the chair for the ultimate cozy factor by popping in a fun blue tone with this pillow. When you think about relaxing and braving the elements, who doesn't want a pop of red color for your fave mugs from Sur La Table and this vegetable bowl is perfect for snacking at Cooking.com! Keep things close and uncluttered with these spice boxes from William's Sonoma.

Finally, that great Mud Room/Ralph Lauren feel to this entire space can only be upped by actually dressing your dog in this Big Pony Dog Polo which is super cute and cozy!

Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Pre NYFW

Although Fashion Week starts tomorrow officially, I will be running around going to a few shows as well as doing my last minute errands in terms of getting my complete looks. So for me, Fashion Week starts in a few hours with a presentation, runway show and other tidbits. For him, he can relax and work on his projects and shake his head as I am forced to run in and out of the worst weather possible for my key time of year. It also seems like those that are US Open bound also feel the same way as their games were cancelled last night - I feel their pain but at least NYFW is not cancelled but it will make running around in my stilettos a sport of their own.

With the fall weather that is coming upon us it is allowing me to rock some layers in addition to some outerwear and for him, he can get cozy. Although he is not at the games right now, he's loving Heineken Tennis Classic by Sol Angeles' exclusive collection that was created in conjunction with Heineken and is currently available at Arthur Ashe stadium. If you're in the complex, you have to check them out as they have a number of cute items and for men's casual wear for running around, going to the gym etc this is phenomenal and apparently sales reflect that the public loves it! He pairs this with American Essential's drawstring jersey pant as he runs out to grab a bagel, get a haircut and all the quick prep he needs to be snazzy for days at the tents, media lounges and after parties. All Saints' hoodie caps the look off as we love playing with grey and to add a pop and to be truly playful in the land of blue, we finish off with these zippy Adidas Original sneakers! Happy Pre Fashion Week and it's official that we will be recapping what we're seeing starting tonight all the way until the end of next week!

Fashionable Fridays: Event ~ Socialista NY UGG Terrace

My travel schedule is all over (not that it's because I write about travel directly but my work takes me all over between design projects, appearances and TV - it's a luxury to definitely be home in NYC) and even when I'm in the city I'm in brand meetings on top of the shoots with all the launches coming up this fall and holiday. So it's not often that I get to be out and about to have fun with people I don't see as often as I would like to! Amy, of Midtown Girl is also the founder of Socialista NY a group that allows fashion influencers and bloggers to come together and engage with one another. Amy's first event took place at the UGG Showroom in the Crown Building and did I mention that they have a fabulous wrap around terrace! This event allowed us to mingle, nibble on fab appetizers and enjoy sangria, margaritas and more. In addition, we all enjoyed getting manis and pedis via Spa Chicks on the Go. It definitely came at a fab time since I had a photoshoot the next day and even as the rain began to fall at the end of the night, we took the party inside! Throughout the night, I took a sneak peek at UGG's Fall 11 offerings. This brand is about much more then the pull on shearling boots that we're familiar with. I am obsessing over many of the handbags, jackets and stacked heels that are available. In a few days I will include info on their new launch since I am attending this in early August but know that it's super cute. It was definitely a fab event and one that definitely sets the tone for future Socialista NY events!

Trendy Thursdays: Kitten Lounge U. - Complete Your Look

Now our college students love that each Mon we share a look that's perfect for you to not only wear on campus but works well when you're visiting parents, interning and more! Every now and then you'll see fab items that are perfect for you to have in your shower caddies whether you're in the dorms or off campus! Now some of these items you may have heard of on our site but all of these items are ones that definitely have the Kitten Lounge approval and are ones that I use either everyday or regularly!

New to my bathroom, Eight Body Wash. I love that it has Ginger and Lime which has a nice spicy scent and yet I find it calming at the same time. I love how it makes my skin feel amazing and it's a great way to wake up your skin as you hit the showers. Definitely check out their site as they have a full collection of items whether you're all about Ginger Lime or Lavendar!

Earlier this summer I took you behind the scenes at Avon's R&D center in Suffern, NY and let you in on their Lotus Sheild Anti-Frizz Treatment. If you want to ensure that you're hair stays straight and that rain doesn't send you running indoors, then this needs to be your best friend when it comes to your haircare! It's a great alternative if you don't do various treatments such as Japanese Straightening or other processes!

Now I am all about soft skin and people know I have lotion on every stand, drawer, pocket and more. So finding out about Olivina Nappa Valley's Body Butter - I fell in love. Now I love the actual Olive Body Butter but once again check out their site as they have various scents that you're bound to want! Beyond making your skin feel and look amazing - you'll love the scent which works with all seasons but is amazing in the fall! Check out all the products that they create and I love that they are cruelty free and that your skin will enjoy drinking in the nourishing ingredients!

Now in an effort of full disclosure, I am a spokesperson for Crest 3D Whitening but I have to say that the past year I have tried a number of whitening agents from painting on solutions, using mouthwashes and more. At the end of the day you need a white smile as it's the first thing that people notice when you start talking. I live and swear by the entire system from the whitening strips (love that they allow me to still sip on water and talk without having foam bumpers in my way), mouthwash, toothbrush and of course the toothpaste. Results are definitely apparent within a short period of time and I honestly saw it the first day! This is a must for sure!

Whether this is your first month ever on campus or you just kicked off your year, there's no excuse in trying to figure out products that will make sure that you make a fab impression whatever you agenda is for the day!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Rock the Rain

This is one of the first few rainy days that I have worked from home and loved it! Usually, I'm battling raindrops but I have to say this is not an excuse to look subpar as you hit the streets. This chilly rain means when you pop in and out of stores, offices, etc it'll be uncomfortable warm so layering up is the key! First it's about the pieces - Siman Tu (finally meeting him and hanging out with him this week) has been one of my favorite accessories designers since I moved to NY. I used to walk by his shop on Lexington when I left the subway station on 63rd and would drool over his pieces. I would love for his collection to join my ever growing Ted Rossi collection! The Agate cuff is beyond PHENOM! Today is the day that you pair your skinny jeans (much easier to fit into wellies) with a super long tank and a cute cropped cradigan. This way you're warm and when it gets to be too much, you can take it off! When you finally manage the day, take some time to relax solo or with friends at your favorite wine bar.

Snazzy Sundays ~ Simple Pleasures

I love a lazy Sunday where you're able to kick back and just enjoy being at home. It's even better when you can do this on a super chilly or rainy day. I always have hummus, crackers and wine which can become an instant way to relax while working online, reading or whatever it is that you're up to. Earlier this summer, I was able to try Yuca Crackers. Although I tried various recipes, I have to say that this organic gluten free cracker is best enjoyed with hummus. When it comes to hummus, I love Sabra - you can't go wrong with any of their flavors. Even when you're alone, you can enjoy a nice glass of wine and there's no reason to save your favorite glasses until you have company, I love the Mara glass from Crate and Barrel. The coasters are a great way to keep track of whose glass is whose or if you and your boyfriend are enjoying it, you can have your own wine tasting. These coasters have chalk that comes with the set so whether you're writing your name, the vineyard or kind of wine - it's easily identified. Make Sun special before you head back into a crazy week!

Fashionable Fridays ~ And Now a Word From the Raindrops

There's nothing like running inbetween raindrops in NYC on a Friday no less. This weekend is supposed to be a promising weekend! Not only do both of the new baseball stadiums open but it's the weekend and the idea of sleeping in, brunch and more is enough to make even the rainiest day seem not so bad. Still, you have to be in the weather and why not dress it up. I'm all about Hunter Boots and these are available at J Crew which is very convenient! They're stylish on their own but seeing that I love to accessorize, why not consider getting Hunter fleece liners? These are a great way to add in a pop of color and of course they serve the functional purpose of keeping your feet dry and warm! Finally, the umbrella doesn't need to be drab. This black and white Juicy Couture umbrella is compact and has a matching bag as well. Take some time to check out some great finds and wherever you're heading today, at least we're closer to summer. On rainy days, I tend to search the internet more and we have two giveaways - Sex and the City inspired pantiesby Cosabella are being given away next Tues (with the sequel coming next summer I's excited) and we are also giving away on Mon - tickets to the Clearasil event for a new Dance Crew which will take place at Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square - so much fun if you're addicted to the MTV version of the show as I am!

Mingling Mondays: Grab Some Rain

WelliewellieHow gross is it today? I hate days where it's not only rainy but windy as well! I love that you can at least make the best out of a wet situation by sporting cute wellies by J.Crew! Now I know that this weather is something that makes people want to take a day away from work. If this is what you plan on doing, at least make it productive by hanging out at a coffee or tea shop and finishing that good book or becoming inspired by starting something creative! I love the idea of wearing a scarf, reading glasses (whether you need them or not) and a cute pair of wellies. This is also a great day to go to a gallery as well and pick up a new artist that you have become a fan of as well. Rainy days definitely mean more than just staying inside and getting a few winks. Of course, I could never say that hanging out at home and watching Fancast isn't a bad way to  spend the day either (oh I can't wait to settle in to see more of Lipstick Jungle - is anyone else hooked)?

Sippin' Saturdays: LAGOON ~ Coffee & Tea Festival This Weekend

It's here! For the past few Saturdays, I have shared with you various vendors that will be participating in this week's Coffee & Tea Festival at the Metropolitan Pavilion. This is a nice weekend to get out of the rain (if we do in fact get this) and to sample some of the beverages that will be available. It's so nice when you have an event when the tea and coffee people can be together and have a great time. I will be there today so if you see me, stop by and say hello! I am so excited to actually attend the event and I will give a recap on what I saw, who was there and what we should be out on the lookout for as well. I even have a few friends that will be stopping by as I am on a quest to spread my love for tea!
