As many of you know, my sister got engaged last weekend and although we are a few weeks away from her being ready to plan her wedding, I had to delve in. One of the first things that I asked her was when was the date and where! After finding out that she wanted to do this next year, we got to the topic of where - one word - DESTINATION. I think that this is a great option and one that allows everyone to not only enjoy your day but to enjoy being away and it becomes a bit of a vaca in and of itself! Now, I have no idea what she's thinking of but there are so many great places to go - one of my faves is Dominican Republic, especially Punta Cana - of course, time will tell what she opts to do! I had the pleasure of being there a few years ago and felt that it was fabulous!
When you think about choosing a place, it makes you think of the dress. I think that a destination establishes a significant portion of your theme and your dress can tie into it. Now, I am not listing any dresses that my sister is thinking about and nor have we met to discuss it although I know we'll sit in a few bridal shows in Oct to get the ideas flowing. Above are two looks that I think are a lot of fun and could see my sister in. This J. Mendel dress is not only a mermaid gown (which I think is a fab style for her) but I love the ruffle bust as there is something sexy and demure about this look. I also love this simple Grecian look by Nicole Miller which has a great plunging neckline and a tie waist.
I love turquoise! It's one of my favorite colors and jewelry pieces as well so of course in terms of inspiration for your room, this is a fab hue! My inspiration comes from this fabulous Oscar de la Renta as he's all about drama, ruffles and pops of fab color! Now, moving onto where this can be infused, we'll start with my newest obsession - chandeliers. A fab alternative is turquoise beads and I'm loving this draped one from my fave home decor place, Horchow. This is perfect in your living room and can be paired with these fabulous Marrakech curtains from Anthropologie and of course, pop your feet up on Massoud's storage cubes which can hide your fabulous clutter as well. Finally, enter your sanctuary and enjoy Trink Turk's bedding which calls out to your inner Santorini!
Over the past month, Kitten Lounge has been reviewing Lucille Roberts and our biggest take away is that in addition to the wide selection of classes and a number of locations throughout NYC (check your area to see where one is in your city) - I love the fact that they have trainers and it has definitely helped me even when I am not working out at this gym! It's great to build a relationship with the person who works with you as well as to let you think about what you want to target everytime you meet with one another. Later this week, I also had the opportunity to do Fuse Pilates (more on this later in the week). When I'm working out, I always think about what outfits and events will I be going to and what do I need to work out. When it comes to summer, I'm all about my arms, fab legs and of course great upper and lower abs!
With that in mind, I present a fun look that I'll be rocking in a few weeks for an event that I am hosting! I am obsessed with Halston Heritage as they always get it right. I love the chic, flirty and girly look of this dress. But, I love dressing things up and putting a little edge on it for sure. This dress seriously focuses on your arms and begs for a fab pair of legs. Pair this with fab heel-less shoes from Giuseppe Zanotti which of course means that you need rocking leggings. When it comes to the arms, adorn them - these cuffs by Maison Martin Margiela which brings out your inner Wonder Woman! Slip on one of my fave designers, Sevan Bicakci and top it off with this cork handbag by Kara Ross!
I'm such a fan of Kelly Osbourne! She's the perfect mix of sweet and feisty and I love seeing her on E!'s Fashion Police. I also love that Kelly takes care of herself and always shows a number of looks that are on point with the season's trends as well as (more importantly) being true to her own style aesthetic. I love the look she's rocking for Nickelodeon's Kid's Choice Awards this past weekend. You can recreate this fun look by wearing Stella McCartney Ruffled One Shoulder Cotton Blend Dress which is super chic and very easy to wear. Pair this with Giuseppe Zanotti's hot pink pump. I would have also added in (as this is a fun show) this fabulous Mesi Jilly Cowrie Shell and Onyx ring with Kara Ross's Cuff which adds some symmetry to the overall look.
Last weekend I happened to be in White House Black Market (which I have to say I have only been in a handful of times and although I'm a huge fan of black, I never find anything there) and fell in love with this dress - they didn't have any more in my size but I knew I wanted to include the Flutter Tier Ruffle Dress within a spread. On my 30th birthday back in September, one of my very good friends wore a flapper girl style dress and I knew I wanted one. When I saw this dress, I saw the similarities and actually loved this one more as it doesn't have fringes but just ruffles. On the website, they suggest that this could be paired with jeans (I question this) but without a doubt it's super cute with black tights which give it a classic macabre, victorian look which is stunning or you can go without tights - I have to say that I would keep the tights. With the dark elements of this dress, I would definitely pair it with fab gold pieces and of course you can't go wrong with a pair of Louboutin's to pull everything together and to give a pop of color as you walk away!
With the holiday season coming closer, we'll be going to a variety of parties so why not some fun interpretations on the classic black dress? You can also play around with whatever look your interested in as well!
