If you've been reading my tweets you know of this season's addiction to Fashion Star mainly because of Glaudi's designer, Johana Hernandez. A few seasons ago, I remember seeing portions of her collection when she showed at LA Fashion Week and seeing her designs hit the runway on this show have definitely been a reminder to me on why her pieces are so phenom!
As an Accessories Expert, I'm also a fan of the fact that she not only rocks some serious accessories personally but she ensures her looks no matter how eye popping have them as well! Last night as she stood with the rest of the members of her team, she enjoyed massive bidding by all three retailers, Macy's, Saks and Express. Ultimately, Express picked up her beige and floral jumpsuits as well as adding in black.Of course I will continue to watch as she continues through the challenges and you'll find that at the conclusion of the season, there will be a recap of all of her designs with fab insights!
Zoe Saldana looked amazing on the red carpet last night at the Oscars in this stunning Alexis Mabille Couture gown. Straight from the runway, this Parisian designer is known for color and if you know of former dresses that Zoe has worn for red carpets, you know that she isn't afraid either. I love the hem line and how it allows you to see her Roger Vivier shoes with bow detailing.
To compliment her beauty look, Celebrity Makeup Artist Vera Steimberg shares her steps which can allow you to do the same when you're looking to do this for your next event.
INSPIRATION:
My inspiration for Zoe's look came from her amazing classic French chic silhouette style dress. I used soft palettes for a natural, sensual, feminine look around her face.
On our site Kitten Lounge, the Oscars red carpet was livestreamed thanks to AP via Rightster! Fan Bingbing stunned in this fabulous Marchesa dress which just came off of NYFW's Fall 2013 runways but a mere few days ago There is so much drama in this dress and yet Fan's demure personality is a pleasant contrast!

We've been recapping the Golden Globes and it wouldn't be complete without highlighting what was worn at the parties! Nina Dobrev attended the 2013 Warner Bros and InStyle Golden Globe Awards After Party last night. She looked so adorable and sugary sweet in turquoise from Oscar de la Renta's spring collection. This dress was further accessorized with a fab silver belt and stunning Jimmy Choo heels. The attention to detail continued with this super cute twist created by stylist Riawna Capri of Nine Zero One Salon and of course you can create this look as well.
Step 1 In order to smooth Nina’s hair and add shine, her hair was prepped with U LUXURY Shampoo and Conditioner, which are infused with crushed pearl, Hawaiian white honey and Argan oil. Next, Riawna used UNITE 7SECONDS Conditioner to detangle, condition and protect hair.
Step 2 Next, she blow-dried hair using the UNITE 9-Row Denman Brush to smooth the cuticle of her hair.
Step 3 Nina then flipped her head upside down while Riawna completed a classic braid from the nape to the crown of her head.
Step 4 All remaining hair was pulled up into a ponytail.
Step 5UNITE BEACH DAY Spray was spritzed throughout the dry ponytail to add density to the hair.
Step 6 The hair was wrapped and pinned into a classic bun.
We continue with looking at the Year in Review for 2012 and we had to share celebs that we enjoy highlighting. Over the past few months, Team Kitten Lounge has been obsessed with the flawless and effortless look that is Kelly Rowland. Although she caught our eye a decade ago as one of the members of Destiny's Child, we all love that she has not only come into her own when it comes to her music but also her style! With NYE being days away, you can take a nod from her look by having the fabulous diva glam look while also having dynamic makeup that showcases an emphasis on your eyes which are the windows to our souls!
At Glamour's Women of the Year Awards in London this summer (first row upper left hand corner), we loved seeing her sleek hairstyle, a silky black halter gown with a train by British designer, Maria Grachvogel. She simply paired this with silver hoops by Garrard with a fabulous nude lip and kohl rimmed eyes! In addition to rocking the red carpet, she received the TV Personality of The Year Award, for her time on ‘The X Factor’ as a panel member of the London version of the show.
At the American Music Awards, she stunned again on the red carpet in a geometric dress straight from the spring NYFW runway show of Naeem Khan! Once again we love her nude lips and kohl eyeliner - it's a great look and we love the simplistic and carefree look of her hair as well.
With her busy year, Kelly hit Las Vegas and signed her cover which features her on VEGAS Magazine's 9th Anniversary at Boulevard Pool at Cosmopolitan where she's stunning on paper as well as in person with her bodycon dress. Kelly also took a moment to host Grey Goose's launch of their Cherry Noir vodka in this stunning red dress as a number of celebrities and invited guests toasted this event.
As you head out to get together your key look for ending and ringing in the new year Monday night. keeping in mind the importance of a chic look that's comfortable to wear for a few hours where your key facial features are being positively highlighted are an absolute must for a great night!
Today is the final day of Milan Fashion Week which includes such designers as Sergei Grinko who had a subdued colorful pallette hit the runways! Today is also the first day of Paris Fashion Week which is always a series of shows we're excited to see!
As I head off to Jamaica for a few days for a press trip, I had to share a show that took place today with my favorite look! Emporio Armani his Milan Fashion Week with fabulous angled neutrals on the runway!
I love immersive shows! On the 5th day of London Fashion Week, Thomas Tait hit the runway with vibrant hues set in a grafiti world! We love the ease of the clothing and neons mixed with muted citrus tones!
Felder Felder had a fab runway show on the first day of London Fadshion Week. I love this butter yellow hie which is perfect for the spring season! This is one of my fave looks from this show and how can you not love the heels (so Shoe Week appropriate).
Now that the madness of Shoe Week has passed with all of our runway shows, I continued on with additional shows! How can you not want this fabulous piece from Farah Angsana. I'm all about spring/summer being abour vibrant hues and am glad to see that there was plenty of this in her collection for next spring!
It's all about looking fabulous and even in the midst of the current turn of seasons - we can still enjoy a bit of summer warmth. Ola Style hit the runways of Shoe Week with fun easy styles! Whether it's going to a friend's wedding, enjoying a night on the town or simply taking a fashionable focus for yourself, Ola Style has a vibrant and whimsical look that's perfect for what you're looking for. We paired these pieces with Q by Pasquale and you can see more in our Facebook albums.
Earlier this summer, John Richmond looks hit the runway during the men's shows in London. I am a huge fan of blazers, sport coats, fab scarves and more for men! There is something so classic about this and a number of ways to do it as well! Check out some of these looks and see how you would rock it for him!
The countdown continues towards New York Fashion Week continues! In the last few weeks, we're all working to make sure that our schedules make sense for shows. Here at the Kitten Lounge Loft, we're adding to our team to cover the shows as I will be focusing on Shoe Week! As the Co-Founder and Creative Director, I'm up to my eyeballs in planning a number of details from runway shows to private events. Whether I'm in our offices or hanging out at home, the theme is always fashion!
It's easy to tweak your office to ensure that it is ready for New York Fashion Week whether you're covering Shoe Week, Milk Made or Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. I love having a fab armoir from Viva Terra, whether you turn it into a place that houses your favorite beverage a la Mad Men or you place your shoes in there - or both! Add some art by taking your favorite images and placing it within this frame from Macy's. Prop your feet up on this ottoman from Ethan Allen. I also love that this piece of furniture makes for a great table! I would also use this to store my Duracell Powermat which ensures that while you're at shows in the tents, you don't have to worry about your phone powering down in between tweets! Charge it up in a specially made case from Duracell and leave it on the mat. In addition, power the back up charge so that if your phone does lose a battery, you can charge it on the smaller one when you're out and about - it's definitely helped me in a pinch! You can win a Duracell Powermat of your very own by entering our fab giveaway - continue reading and enter!
Relax or power up some work on this chaise from Urban Outfitters in this fab grey shade and pop on a pair of peacock themed pillows from Gump's and Dwell Studio. Finally, have your nightstand in your office to handle odds and ends with this piece from Anthropologie and if you have some space, you can use it as a way to display your shoe of the moment such as this Camilla Skovgaard.
Another great season comes to a close as last night, a handful of shows walked the Mercedes Benz Maimi Swim Fashion Week runways! I am obsessed with the prints that hit ANK Swimwear! Swimwear is all about bikinis, bathing suits and of course great coverups! If you want to see more from this collection, check out our friends at Miami Swim Fashion Week for images from this show and other brands that participated too!
Whether you were in Miami or were glued to your Twitter feed, you know that the hottest show that hit the runway was Cia.Maritima with a playful looks at animal prints and fabulous swimwear looks. Find out more about the show and their previous seasons by visiting their page at Mercedes Benz Swim Fashion Week.
She grew to being one of my favorite characters on The Hills due to her laid back style and great advice, when she moved on to The City it was great seeing her practical nature being put to good use by working in the fashion industry in NYC from Elle to People's Revolution. Seeing that she has a line that is oh so very her - is an amazing accomplishment. I had the pleasure of attending her fashion show which debuted at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, here in NY this past February and as I sat front row, I was excited to see a number of pieces that I fell in love with!
As a brand ambassador for Crest 3D White, I have been invited to a number of events to learn more about the brand and their current spokesperson, Whitney Port. Last week Whitney and I had a chance to chat about her line, her upcoming accessories venture and her position as a judge on Britain's Next Top Model! First off, she is always on the go and although it was a lot of time that was put in to make the runway show successful, when all was said and done, it was worth every minute to see Whitney Eve come to fruition. In addition, all the accessories are from her upcoming line called, Bits and Bobs! If you love chunky pieces, necklaces, hair accessories, rings and more - this line is something that will definitely take your interest. Like me, she shares a love for layering and accessorizing. For the purpose of today's post, I have shared two fab accessories that Whitney could have paired with this look as well as the accessory that we both agree on - a smile! Like me, she knows that Crest 3D White Whitestrips Intensive Professional Effects allows you to whiten your teeth for 2 hours for the next 5 days in order to have a lasting smile! You just can't look past the amazing results. In fact while she was filming in London, for Britain's Next Top Model as a judge (airs in the UK in June), she was the ultimate ambassador by letting people know about them and passing them out as apparently it wasn't available over there! It kind of sounds like what I do when I'm on HSN and having some downtime, I'm always passing out an extra strip to encourage others to try it as they are shocked that my teeth are so white because of them and not due to a pricey procedure!
Much like you would expect, Whitney is a doll to chat with, believes in the individual and enjoying life in whatever it is that you're doing and of course, when you wrap that all together - that sense of style is always in season and on trend!
During New York Fashion Week FW 2012/13, I was able to attend Gen Art's Fashion Show that was sponsored by Crest 3D White (which we all know that I have been a long time fan of this and also enjoy that as a brand ambassador, it's always fun to be invited to their events). Whitney Port emceed the runway show which had a number of designers showcasing their work. Designers competed in the "Little White Wardrobe" and Win Shi was the winner of this event. Enjoy the video that features this fabulous designer and see why she definitely won!
As you can see, Mingling Mondays is getting a bit of a facelift of sorts. Mingling Mondays will be about fab trends that are in season (which right now will be Spring Summer as we are in transition) worn by many of our fave celebs as they're out and about and not on the red carpet! It's a great way for you to see their personal style and to give you options. Kitten Lounge will pop in elements that we love and want you to love and the accessories that can bind this together. Sandra Bullock hits the streets of New Orleans (image from US Weekly) and I'm loving that she's rocking a maxi (which has been a huge portion of my wardrobe in Spring and in Summer. I love that she's rocking it in a stripe that becomes a chevron at the top. Chevron is definitely a huge trend for this season and you can't go wrong within this black and khaki shade. I can't say that I'm a fan of having a north/south bag slung over her in a cross body style but I love that she personalized her look and took some of the volume out of this maxi by tying a knot in it - definitely a bit unexpected!
We've seen a number of celebs rocking maxis and I'm definitely loving Ella Moss' striped maxi which has the length that I love but also adds in a bit of a nipped in waist by having a romper element added in which allows a blousson effect! I love the wider straps as sometimes having skinny straps can dig in a bit. And when it comes to vibrant hues, Vince Camuto has this fabulous keyhole effect with a tangerine hue (hot off the runways of the spring/summer 2012 runway shows) that results in colorblocked chevron! I also love that the neckline has this natural collar which is like a necklace! In terms of rocking a cute bag, these dresses beg for clutches and an envelope style is the perfect item. One of the new neutrals which has been shown for a few seasons is this gorgeous yellow python clutch by Jil Sander. Together, this is the look of spring that will carry over into the summer!
With a number of fashion shows being at an end, I wanted to share a runwau that is super fun to look at! Who doesn't want to bring color and flair together? Enjoy Blumarine Fall/Winter 2012/2013 which has a fun look that you know you will see in upcoming photoshoots!
One of my favorite designers is Theia whether I'm wearing it for my appearances or just seeing it embraced by celebs and people in the know! I love that this line's premise is on goddesses and each season they bring a new goddess as the muse for the entire collection. Last week, I shared with you their inspiration - Athena! We know this goddess as someone who is powerful, bold and a protector in many ways! I was backstage at this show which had Dashing Diva doing nude nails! In addition, I fell in love with the hair of this show fun loose braids with many of the girls wearing beaded "helmuts" that enhanced the overall look!
Watch the final model walk to see a number of items from this look!
Theophilus London closes Rebecca Minkoff NYFW FW 2012/2013
I love hitting the shows as you never know what you are going to get! As many of you know, Theophilus London is everywhere and I hung out with him this past summer while designing in Dominican Republic and enjoyed one of his concerts as well! Well, yesterday he opened and closed the Rebecca Minkoff show which was full of fun motorcycle jackets and great pieces you will want to rock later on this year
I love what I do! It allows me to go behind the scenes months in advance to see lines, their inspirations and more. With Fashion Week being less than a week away, readers always want to get as many sneak peeks as possible on collections. On the day of shows, I get to go to many of the shows prior to them hitting the runway. This allows me to let you know what to expect in terms of hair, makeup and what accessories they will rock on the runway. Theia Couture is one of my favorite designers as I have worn them at events and enjoy seeing this line on the runway! Creative Director, Don O’Neill, has a phenomenal vision that comes to life at every presentation. This year, they will be at the Metropolitan Pavilion as apart of Style 360. What a great space to see these pieces showcased. A show is about putting the best elements from the collection out as well as inspirations.
One of the things about the line that always gets me excited is that inspiration comes from Greek goddesses. For this Fall 2012 collection is Athena who is a deity that is known as a powerful woman who was full of wisdom, the instinct to protect and courage. "In 2012 as we face challenging times, I want to imbue the THEIA woman with this sense of power and confidence that will help her stride forward, feeling brave, beautiful, and strong," said the Creative Director. Above you can see models waiting to be seen during the model call for this show where they select the women who will rock the runway and will ensure that the designated looks make sense for them. In addition, you can see some of the mood boards which lets you know the direction that the brand will design in and includes fabrics.
Fashion Week here in NY is a few days away and I have been immersed in Fashion Week coverage around the globe! It's only appropriate to highlight a fun show that took place during the 2012 Fall/2013 Winter Menswears shows earlier this month with Dean and Dan Stanton's line, Dsquared2! As we continue to bundle up, I loved seeing the line which rocked sexy suits which is always something that I can appreciate with classic and casual denim looks! I love that denim was accessorized with fun outerwear and amazing leathergoods (ladies this comes in handy as you can share a bag when going away on a weekend). Anytime Paul and I travel together, he loves when our items can fit in one bag which makes heading out easier! On the upper left hand corner Dean and Dan, the designers of this line, rock out a classic suit while their models hit the runway showcasing fabulous and flawless style!
Accessories Expert/Stylist Q&A: What's a great way to tone down a look that shows a bit more skin via accessories?
There are a number of ways that you can go with this look! I love rocking low cut tees or blazers as jackets. This can be done regardless of the time of day. This question is definitely more important when you're thinking of showing a bit more skin when you're still going to work or running around in the day or even if you're wearing this at night and don't want to feel so exposed. First, make sure you try the outfit on at home and ensure that no matter how you stand, sit etc that you are not bordering on wardrobe malfunctions and that you have the appropriate support to keep all your items permanently affixed (Hollywood Tape is your friend). Mommie to be and all around "girl who is running the world", Beyonce rocked the launch of yet another season of her House of Dereon created by her and her mom, Tina Knowles.
I love that in principle, this look is super easy and comfortable and is flattering to so many body types bu it's perfection when it comes to running around. You can never go wrong with a cardi/jacket that is slightly oversized with a pair of leggings and of course, I love the fact that it's all about glitz. Keeping that monotone look is fab when it comes to rocking some fun accessories. Mixed Media is on trend this season (as it has been for the past few). This is when you rock a number of metals together which creates an edgy look that has more depth. Beyonce is rocking a chain linked necklace that embodies gold and silver and although it does sit high on her neck, I love that there are irregular and longer pieces that eat up space where her skin is exposed - so she's not so bare and totally appropriate! With all the glitz she's rocking, I'm loving her bracelet that has a great gold tone and appears to be either stacked or a slimmer cuff.
If you're rocking a lower cute v-neck tee, low blazer etc you can add this same aesthetic by a number of fun necklaces just like Bey! Available on Bluefly, Rich in Friendship has a phenom friendship necklace that will lay nicely along the collar bone and create depth around your neck while being playful with the mix of metals. Coralia Leets has a fun dual pendant set that uses fun precious stones that have a pop of gold around them. You can even layer fun charms on top of this of various lengths to create additional depth! Finally Lara Bohinc, although it's in one tone" is perfect for the girl that loves to embrace her symmetry but still have amazing pop factor without playing with how the necklace lays. I love the knot and how this is definitely a conversation piece! Finally, Gorjana has a bar bracelet in a gold tone (much like what Beyonce is wearing) that can be worn alone or you can obtain a few of these and stack them for an effortless look!
Whether you're rocking the runway, aisles at work or your well traveled sidewalk - this look can be owned by you totally and worn with a number of key looks as we transition into fall!
Yes it's still the summer but like my wardrobe that is for being out and about, my workout gear also transitions as well! I am a huge fan of rocking black and grey when exercising and many times when I am doing a class, I love to layer it up as well. There's nothing cuter than cropped yoga pants which are from Fila and are all about performance. Include a simple tank like this one from Splendid and a cute cropped terry tee by Stella McCartney and you're ready for the fitness runway as well as looking fab! Pop on your Ryka sneakers and to pull your hair back, Forever 21 has a great scarf with just a bit of color. Grab your Adidas bag which also allows you to run around right after to whatever the day may take you. Keep it fresh by putting The Body Shop's gentle facial cleansing wipes. As you guys know, we're getting closer and closer to NYFW so I also pop in one of my super nutritious snacks from Fresh Diet so that I can snack in a healthy way!
