Trendy Thursdays: His Style ~ Skin is Skin

I'm always talking about what I love but I have to share what works well with men and their beauty routine. "Skin is Skin" is something that I say a lot. Although I love that my boyfriend enjoys trying a number of the beauty items that come to me, there are times when I am baffled by the lack of a consistent lotion regimen. When he wonders why his skin is dry, I tell him that skin is skin - all skin regardless of race or gender needs moisture! Fortunately, I'm so happy that there are a number of items that he does love without me saying a word. In addition, there are a few items that I highly suggest. Especially in the colder temperatures, it's essential to find what works!

The Art of Shaving Sandalwood has a fab shaving cream that leaves an amazing smell and I love that Paul loves using it. I love that it leaves his skin soft. I use separate exfoliants for my face, body and even zone areas (I love certain items for tush and legs that are different from the rest of my body - what can I tell you, I love product). For him, I suggest in an effort to introduce and simplify, Borghese Active Mud for Face and Body is a great way to get this into the routine while also saving space which is important. Plus it's good for everything. For a body wash, I suggest H2O Plus Sea Salt Body Wash is a great cleanser to use and is perfect to have in the shower especially when you and your boyfriend live together so that you don't have to have a number of bottles sitting in such a small NY space.

I think the eyes are essential and I love that Ole Henriksen Eye Lift PM Gel is a great way to begin restoring your face (Pro Tip: Many of my gels sit in the fridge so that I have a nice cool feeling when applying the product at night or when it's the summer). Even if eye sagging is not an issue, I believe in preventative maintenance and am a fan of a number of the products within this line. When it's time to call it a night, I love that Paul loves keeping his face fresh by cleansing it with a Pond's Facial Wipe. This version has lavender which is calming. When I wipe off with a cleansing wipe, I still like to have a moisturizer, I highly suggest Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream - this has Clary Sage and is a nice aroma mixture with the lavender. Finally, lips are my other love! I use lip balm throughout the day and I always put on a healthy coat at night. I highly suggest Jack Black as they have an entire line that's phenomenal and good for you and him. My personal favorite is Black Tea!

Snazzy Sundays ~ Feather Decor

Yesterday's post shared a fab giveaway that is available on Kitten Lounge thanks to the month long partnership with Affinitas Initma. For rules on winning a Lingerie Bundle of Goodies you'll want to click here (just 1 lucky winner). With the site focusing on bridal for the next month, we'll be including fab ways to enhance your big day or to let your bride to be friend know! Today, I'm inspired by one of the favorite accessories that a bride can use to replace using a veil - the headband! I'm loving Cara Accessories Headband which has fab feather detailing and let me start thinking of all the ways your decor can embrace feather glam from day to day as well as the upcoming holiday season!

When you're lounging in your bed or on the couch, having fun pillows to add a pop of color is a fab idea! This peacock pillow from Dwell Studio is a great way to add in a new hue and a texture without being concerned about having feathers literally being left behind! Roll over every morning with West Elm's duvet which blends in a number of fab neutral hues to create a cool sense to your boudoir decor. Move on to serving guests or significant others with utensils that have feathers on the handle thanks to Horchow.Vagabond House takes sea salt to another level with these fab dishes that are peacocks and have feather that can be used to take your allotted amount of salt to your plate.

As guests come to visit, your doorway begins a feather feel by having this fab white wreath from West Elm. Your cabinets and tables, just in time for Thanksgiving, can have super cute turkeys welcoming everyone to your feast via Pottery Barn. As you begin thinking ornaments for your tree, I'm loving these glass feather ornaments from Gump's!

Trendy Thursdays ~ Russian & Turkish Baths

Everyone knows that anytime Fashion Week concludes, I come back from a trip or I just need some serious clairty, then I must do a bit of Spaing. Coming back from SXSW last Wed, I was super pumped to take the fab ladies up on reviewing a place that I had heard a lot about since I have been in NYC! Russian & Turkish Baths have been around since 1892 and is in the East Village. Just coming to the building, you feel that you are walking back to another time and once you enter the doorway, you realize that you have left New York and are in another country! There are definitely spa rules as I have come to know but I must say when coming to this place, there are rules that may be slightly different then your typical rules.

Upon entering there are a number of services and I had opted for a 45 Min Scrub Combo including Salt Scrub, Mud Treatment and Soap Wash as I am always a fan of those. When I went to the desk, I winced a bit as I realized that my Jimmy Choo wallet would be leaving me (and any small valuables) and placed into a lock box and in exchange, I would receive a key to go to the locker rooms. Thankfully there was a fellow spa goer that had been there many times and he showed me where the bathrobes, shorts etc would be as he explained, "it's a little confusing for first timers". As I changed in a small room, I was thankful that he pointed me to going downstairs. Downstairs is a communal pool that people used, outer steaming and then additional rooms. When I met with the guy who would be doing my treatment, he popped me into a sauna which was super hot. I was a tad bit concerned as extreme heat and I aren't friends unless there is a beverage in my hands and with the robe I had on, I looked over to the girl in the bikini wishing that I had one as it would have been a tad more comfy. But I will say that after 5 mins of sweating, my body adjusted and it was nice.

I was motioned to go into what I can only call is a stall to lay on a mat to get my treatments. Once again, bring a bikini. If you're used to going to many or your spa sessions at Exhale, Blue Mercury etc you may be used to wearing a robe and then going under sheets - not here! Thankfully, he ran to get my bottoms and adjusted them so that I could have my treatment. The scrub experience was phenomenal and it makes me want to book a trip to go to the Dead Sea ASAP as I felt so revitalized. Although the aesthetic is no frills, I found my masseuse to be phenomenal and he asked me if everything was ok. He applied everything like an expert and even though the water to wash you off comes out of a hose, it wasn't done in a careless way. When we were done after 45 mins, I sat out in the common air to dry off with the use of the steam.

As an experience alone, it's worth coming to and I am so happy that Spa Week introduced me to it. In addition, there is definitely a community feel among the patrons as many seemed to know one another and when they see a lost looking person, they offer to help! I would say that I would definitely do this seasonally as I felt so amazing when I left! With Spa Week coming up April 11 - 17th, you can stay for the day for only $20, which is 35% off the regular price. You can sample the 5 saunas, steam rooms, cold pool and roof deck. Note that my treatment is not included in that price and is $50 courtesy of Spa Week. Make sure to get your Spa Week off to a start by visiting the site and then make your reservations after becoming a member.
