London Collections Men continues into its final day. With the winter coming upon us, we're looking for vibrant color and we found it with Orlebar Brown which launched six uears ago via Adam Brown, a photographer! He conceived this line which creates tailored swimwear for men! What a great alternative to what's out there in the marketplace and this season which looks at FW2013 is not only retro (this very Art Deco and everything I love about Miami as the collection is broken out into 3 areas: Miami Nights, Poolside Decadence and Beach Frivolity) but fun with it's yellows, red and a hint of mint! With a mix of printed shorts, blazers, oversized bags and more - we're ready ot jump on a cruise to really embrace this look. Who doesn't love bringing in that Miami sense no matter where you're off to or just popping it in to the overall look?
Part of doing anything is getting the right mindset and if you're thinking of tackling your workout, then you should outfit yourself for sure! I have come across some phenomenal items to add to your look! I'm a huge fan of mixing it up whether it's a jog in the park, Exhale Spa's Cardio Core Fusion, yoga and more. When I just hit a few of my favorites in the gym, I love rocking a pair of shorts such as these by Adidas as well as giving love to my alma mata, Indiana University with this Victoria's Secret Pink athletic tee! To ensure the perfect messy bun, I love these Jilly Bands which allows your hair to be pulled back without having undue stress put on it (and I love the range of colors - a must in my beauty pack no matter what). Keep time with 180Limited which is a fab rubber watch which comes in a square and circle face option. I'm all about drinking water and love this glass bottle from bkr which not onl y has a silicone sleeve (once again choose your colors) but also has a cap where the handle is slightly tilted which is easier to hold in your hand as it fits in the curve of your hand.
Finally, it's all about the shoes and ensuring that they're not even good for your feet but that of course they look amazing with your look. I've been wearing these Therafit Shoe sneakers since my press trip in Jamaica! I love how it supports my arches and allows me to have cushioned layers. Dr. Lisa Masterson, who appears on The Doctor's created this shoe to empower women not only in the gym but throughout their lifestyle. There are so many hues that are available that we're excited to give you the opportunity to win a pair. Tweet @TherafitShoe and @KittenLounge how you will be healthier in 2013 with the hashtag #lifestyle2013 and we will select 1 winner on New Year's Eve.
Over the past few weeks you have noticed some rolling changes and I have another one from you. As an Accessories Expert, I always love connecting you with amazing finds or showing you how I would enhance a look that I already love. I'm excited to bring a new format to Kitten Lounge - simply roll over the images and be directed to more information without having too much text to clutter the space!
This weekend, ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars star, Shay Mitchell attended Teen Vogue's Back-To-School Event rocking one of our favorite looks cas to glam hot pink blazer, white cami and a cute pair of leather shorts that are cut in a romper style. She paired this with neon limon nails, a turquoise beaded necklace, blush pumps and an agate ring. Of course I had to enhance the look just a bit with a number of pieces that are perfect to top off this look and become great staples for whatever you're wearing.
I love this Botswana Agate Ring by Chan Luu which is a great neutral, of course these fab double platform heels by Rachel Zoe are perfect and have a bit of twise as I love that the ankle has a bit of a point - as someone who adores shoes, this is such a great paor to have in your closet. I'd switch out her limon nails for a soft butter melon hue by Butter London known as Bumster. Finish the look off with this fab turquoise necklace by Kendra Scott.
Vacations seem to be few and far between but I am constantly traveling! Tomorrow I will jet off to LA to mix business and pleasure together! I'm excited to be with my boyfriend on his Social TV conference that he produced and will be on panels for, I'll be working on a number of items involving the ever growing Kimmie brand and of course taking some much needed down time/ I'm loving that I will have a chance to enjoy some time by the pool!
When it's time to have some pool time, I believe in rocking it out! First you have to start with the bikini, I'm loving DVF who has an awesome zebra beaded ensemble which is perfect! Make it look super cute by slipping on a pair of shorts by Rag & Bone. Super cute shorts beg to have fab heels on and when in a bikini, I love rocking wedges and this pair by Brian Atwood is amazing! Rock on a pair of sunglasses with Tom Ford and finish it off with Bottega Veneta's woven leather satchel which is the perfect way to take much needed down time - when you can!
I have to say that I do love my Saturdays as I get quite a bit accomplished with a number of projects. Soon, part of my weekend plans will involve me writing out my holiday cards. The list keeps getting larger so I have to tackle as much as I can with an increasingly limited period of time. So to do this fun task, choose a weekend when you plan to make home your base. Get cozy with this burnout linen jersey tee from J Crew and pair it with a pair of Lounge Lover jersey shorts. Many of you know that I love rocking my UGG Australia Ainsley slippers and if you're looking for something comparable, you should check out their Dakota which is the perfect way to keep your feet warm. Finish off this easy look with a Valerie Egee bronze and quartz piece as even at home, you need to be accessorized. Wrap your hands around Mikasa's mugs with the hot beverage of your choice and your body can enjoy this fab Burberry cashmere blanket. Now you can spend your time writing out the cards of your choice by Crane and Co!
Accessories Expert/Stylist Q&A: How can I take looks that younger celebs are wearing and add an edgier flare?
Recently at the premier for The Thing, which has a lot of buzz out there for those that are into this genre of films, Selena Gomez made her appearance on the carpet. I loved her boho chic style with her oversized top paired with her sequined shorts and fab ankle booties. This look is so cute on Selena since it doesn't age her and I love that it is playful for her with the large hoops as well as her bronzed cuff. I am recreating a fun look that definitely steps it up a bit more and adds in edgier components. You can decide based on your own preferences whether you would rock shorts or a cute legging instead which can still provide a fun play on proportions!
Rock this look with the Appolon ring from Swarovski which is definitely an accessory that needs to be added into this look. This adds a depth and heft to this look that edges it up. I'd also add in the Eddie Borgo Pave Link Chain Bracelet which continues the blackened silver look. I love the icicle earrings from Mizuki which is long and slender which provides a nice peekaboo effect. Finally rock out some fun ankle boots with Camilla Skovgaard which has a fun strappy detail that elevates the whole look. This is a great way to have an older look, while maintaining the playful nature.
Second to looking at a man's accessories, I do look at his pants. Pants, shorts etc are super important and I feel that they say a lot! Some of my boyfriend's favorite shorts are cargos although traditionally, I'm not a fan of them but I adore that he has a super cute pair of camo ones. So in that vein and since we're getting through August and thinking of the upcoming New York Fashion Week - (here in a few weeks) I had to reach back to June when Dolce and Gabbana hit the runway with their men's collection. They definitely got back to basics with simple tanks and shorts, plaid bottoms and a see through look which is perfect for jetting around resorts and shopping in town!
It's all about keeping it simple. You know that sometimes your makeup routine is a little lighter as the days get hotter, the same can also apply to your apparel as well! When it gets toastier, my shorts get a little higher and and of course, I'm all about the perfect tank pairing! Today's look has a great ethical component to it! I'm loving Nicole Miller's collaboration with Indego Africa which has vibrant shorts. This cause allows the cute shorts to to have 15% go back to this group of people from Rwanda that represent over 250 artisans that are all about fair trade and social enterprise. In addition, I'm loving with this easy breezy sense of style that this Dream Weaver Wildfox Couture tank is so cute and perfect! I'd totally wear this to run errands, have brunch or just to get out and about. Of course, I'm loving that the accessories to cap it all off include this amazing large cuff that has crystals all over! Roberto Di Castro's piece is fabulous and of course these easy sandals which have braiding detail that caps off the entire look by Jessica Simpson. Ultimately, this is a great alternative to a romper (one of my fave summer looks) and is something you'll see me rocking when I am running around either personal shopping or securing looks for my upcoming shoots.
Earlier this week I worked with a fabulous client who was looking for the best look that screamed Hamptons but was appropriate for a housewarming here in the city which has a roofdeck! Today's look is a version of the look that was created for her! I'm all about kaftans as there are so many options and they are my "must haves" for Summer 2011. TopShop has a fab serene blue that can be worn as a cover up over your fave bikini or paired with a cute tank top so that it is worn as a dress. If you feel that it is a little short, you can pair cute shorts and on cooler nights, how about a pair of leggings? Because the kaftan is the perfect mix of casual and dressy, it begs to be paired with fun accessories. I'm loving the fun peacock elements of jewelry with House of Harlow's peacock locket pendant and Free People's ring as well. In addition, everything can be evened out by popping in fun nude/blush tones. Love, love, love the fact that Jimmy Choo's clutch is the perfect item to pair with Alejandro Ingelmo's woven platform wedge pumps (I am obsessed with this designer and have been since Sept Fashion Week last year when he was on a Harper's Bazaar panel focusing on accessories) which are phenomenal. Regardless of how leggy you are, this is a great look and as always, I'm so happy to get pictures from my fab clients when they're set to have a fab night out (hopefully she remembers the fab gift she's supposed to bring and will enjoy dancing the night away with friends).
When he hits the beach, he wants comfort and although I could think about all the themes I'm rocking in my look, his basics must be met. So we kept it super easy with "get me noticed shorts" from Vilebrequin, my favorite Havaianas by Michael Bastian, a hat (looking dapper in Paul Smith) to keep him from the shade and of course, rocking Mosley Tribes? Simple and he's able to head out for Beach Volleyball, laying out or swimming up to the bar! Of course this gives you the chance to rock his sunglasses and hat when he happens to be running around.
He's always on the move whether it's taking a million conference calls, walking me through a program or just doing the do with the necessities of life - errands. But I think any opportunity that you're up and about is one that must be dressed for. Today, he rocks Helly Hansen's Dubliner Jacket which we just received earlier this week and is perfect for the in between weather that we will experience over the next few weeks! I love that this line is all about the active girl and guy who could be running around the city or actually using their items for the high seas! It's all about endurance and when you're running errands, you need plenty of that! To complete this look, he loves rocking a fab pair of shorts as it's a great way to get things done, a pair of comfy sneakers from Puma and a snazzy low neck tee from T by Alexander Wang! There's no need to bum around when there are errands to be done!
In an ideal world, I would be in a cabana this very second taking in fab drinks, nibbling fruits and just lounging. But in reality, I'm running around the city getting odds and ends done as I have projects beginning and ending. But whether this is what you're doing now or will be, how cute is this look to sit poolside? I also love (minus the bikini) that this look can be broken apart and worn when you're out and about which is always a nice thing to have as well when you're thinking about building your look! This look could be super cute with a pair of cut off shorts and a tank and everything else would still look fab whether you're heading shopping, brunch or just hanging out in the park with friends.
There are days that are meant for shorts and a tee and then there are days that you want to regain that collegiate feeling and rock a graphic tee! I may just be speaking for myself but I have those days and I give in! This is when I'm running around on personal errands, doing work in the afternoons on my balcony or on a rooftop! Yet you still have to be fashionable! Now I have never seen any of the Twilight movies nor have I read the books (I know GASP) but everyone has done something that either ties into the movie or is about it. Now Mighty Fine is one of my favorite graphic tee lines and I ADORE Hello Kitty! So seeing that they have gotten into the Team Werewolf or Team Vampire debate it's a cute way to rock the movie. Now these aren't official Twilight tees but how cute are they. So regardless of your team or if you're like me and had no idea but just think it looks cute, enjoy your Friday while you check out a fun way to spice up tees when you're out and about.
Happy Cinco de Mayo, if you read yesterday's post, I hope to see you at Elizabeth and guys - this summer will be complete with a nice pair of shorts! We talked about Bonobos earlier this Spring and of course, we included it within our current guide (Beaches, Backyards, Roofdecks and Barbecues) but just incase you wanted to know more about the styles that they have, we had to give them their own post! Bonobos is available online and gives men the end of an age old excuse - not wanting to shop for bottoms. Not only does Bonobos have an amazing line of pants but they have recently launched a new pair of shorts! I love the fact there are a lot of prints and that the shorts are offered in two lengths. There are no more excuses at this point and of course you'll always have a great pair to bring with you at a lake house, after drinks and more!
The Boyfriend Cardigan is a staple in your wardrobe! This is cute with a pair of jeans, shorts and leggings. No matter what color you have, this is the perfect way to top off the look with super cute booties or with a pair of ballet shoes. I love the Cocoon Sweater as this dresses up whatever you're wearing in an instant! In addition, I love the Splendid sweater as well as it looks very comfortable and is lighter weight as well.
I love gingham and seersucker! These patterns are so cute by being whimsical and yet having such a flirty flair! So is it any surprise that these prints are so prevalent and so much to where during the summer? Where it's cute pants, a dress or a bathing suit - there are so many ways to get this into your wardrobe and it wears well from day to night and in the wee hours as well. How do you accessorize it? How about cute flip flops, espadrilles, tote bag and a super cute piece of jewelry? Take some time to check these items out and more!
You guys, it's snowing outside! The weather is crazy and if you're in NYC, it's supposed to be sunny and in the 60's! With all the back and forth that's going on, I seriously need to get to the summer. Since we still have a few weeks of inconsistency to go through, I'll just dreams of shorts, capris and super cute rompers! My favorite look is the Larsen Gray Belted Romper - the turquoise color is amazing and of course, you can never go wrong with a few items from Victoria's Secret as well.
A few months ago, I was introduced to Spreegirl at an Editor's event and I have to say that since that time, I have been hooked on this super cute sleepwear brand. It has gone with me on a lot of trips with friends, meeting other designers and so much more. Spreegirl's philosophy is that you should be fashionable at all times and that it can be carried into bed time. I actually have a super cute gingham set that's a tank top and boy shorts much like the one the model is wearing in the picture. I love that it's super girly while having a bit of a spice in there too. In the end, it's a fun LA line that you should start introducing to your closets!
Fortunately, if you view the site, you can also get a sneak peek into what is available for this fall which is just as great as their spring and summer line as well. Take some time to check out the collection and if you're looking to purchase them, then you should check out such sites as Yandy.com and Revolver Clothing.
No matter how hot it is or what trip I'm going on, I always pack a cute graphic T-shirt. I may wear it while I'm there or I may wear it on the plane there. There is something about a graphic shirt that makes me feel comfortable and lets me know that whatever happens I won't find it cumbersome to move around. That being said, I could go for the cute tiny graphic t or something that is definitely bold and out there - making a statement. Last month, I posted about Sailor Jerry who participated in Project in Vegas . I remember seeing this shirt on the website and thinking that it would make a great entry for LAGOON since it's a great nautical blue and I love that it has the Spiced Navy Rum on there. This is definitely cute with jeans, short white shorts, yoga pants and more. It's a great look that could definitely be a staple when you're looking for something quick and cute to wear. Take a peek at the site and see what else is up your alley.
I don't have any tattoos and don't see getting one but I love the shirts that definitely bring in that kind of a look. Shirts like this are great to wear with yoga pants, jeans and cute shorts! I love the fact that this can be worn while being out and about for brunch, shopping and much more. Even better is that this is available at Wet Seal for under $20 - which is always a great way to add luxe to your wardrobe.
