It doesn't matter whether you love Sex and The City as a series or as a movie! The fab four placed their mark on fashion in so many ways that even when I continue to go to events their names are always mentioned in terms of inspiration or style. From shoes to bedding, the impact continues; moreover, the lingerie world has embraced them as well. Mingling Mondays: The Ultimate Runway Show

With it being Fashion Week, all attention is focused on the runways at the tents, presentations that are outside of Bryant Park and so much more. I love this time of year as it makes me think of the spring/summer being closer together, but I'm also thinking of another runway that is even more impacting in terms of helping so many that fight every day! On April 30th, St Jude Children's Research Hospital will present the Design Cares fashion show which is a collaboration of so many designers (including my fave Diane Von Furstenburg) whose pieces will hit the runways and will later be auctioned off in order to benefit pediatric cancer research. The sketch above is a custom couture gown for Design Cares by Maggie Norris Couture which is being donated for this worthy cause. I think this is such an important cause and Kitten Lounge (along with other sites that I write for) will keep you in the loop on this event up to the day (and of course the day after). There are so many amazing stories and interests that are associated with this amazing event, that it would be unfair to share it within one post. Bridezillas Wants You

There are so many goodies going on and lately, it seems like I spend a lot of time conducting interviews which I love. One of my favorite reality shows that I watch every chance I get is Bridezillas. Am I married - no, engaged - nope but do I love big personalities that simply don't care about how other people receive their information - oh yes! Fortunately, WeTv loves that I feel this way and I was able to have a chat with Danielle Ostroske, producer of the very successful Bridezillas. I wanted to know more about the show and what it could mean for all of you out there! Also, enjoy one of my favorite Bridezillas to appear during Season 5 (which ends Oct 26th)!

How do you go about picking the brides to be?

We have a long questionnaire asking about how the planning process is going, who have you clashed with at this point, are you over budget, are things not going your way, etc. We really listen for those women that fit the profile of having their wedding exactly as they wanted and those who seek for perfection.

Is there a geographical presence and will we ever see Bridezillas outside of the US

We have Bridezillas from all over the country and we cast at various events such as Bridal Expos. We began casting for Season 6, premiering in June about two weeks ago and we are still looking for about 20 more brides. Do the women who have been on the show feel that this is an accurate depiction of themselves when they see their episodes

These women own the fact that they are Bridezillas and then there are others that are shocked about how they acted. When they are in the process of being selected, they are shown 2 full episodes of the show so that there are no surprises.

Can we expect to see Bridezillas as a spin off and is it on DVD?

There are always things in the works but it is too early to say or share. Prior to the beginning of the new season, there will be a special of the Top 10 moments of Bridezillas and there will also be updates on previous brides on the show. You can also enjoy Bridezillas on iTunes as well since it's not on DVD.

Mingling Mondays: Keeping it La Cucina

As you know, Mondays are always dedicated to food and today, I thought we would present food in another way! During my interview with A.W. Gryphon, the novelist of Blood Moon, I found out that she is a screenwriter and while she has this new book release, yesterday, her movie, La Cucina, showed at the LA Femme Film Festival. This festival looks to support women filmmakers and is also a great way to have a Q&A with those in the know in the industry! You can still check out the days events although it has concluded. But I definitely wanted to share some info about the movie as I would love to see this when it comes out on DVD or if it appears in a festival in my area!

La Cucina has an amazing cast including: Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Joaquim de Almeida (Clear and Present Danger), Leisha Hailey (The L Word), Rachel Hunter (Rodeo Girl), Oz Perkins (Legally Blonde), Clare Carey (Jericho), Kala Savage (That 70's Show) and Michael Cornacchia (The Bernie Mac Show)and is a story about how lives can connect and the complications that exist when there is so much being done, but not said. At the same time, no matter the complications, there are commonalities and there is a central place - the kitchen is such a place. It's a place where people can come together and share in a way that other places may prove difficult. The movie centers around four meals and although there may not be an ending that ties everything together, there is something to be said about having the possibility of a happy conclusion or at least the hope to make things right.

Cynthia Rowley: Spring 2009 Runway Show

So Sarah Conley and I (Style It Online), made our way from the tents to West Chelsea to see Cynthia Rowley's show! In attendance were members of Gossip Girl. I wasn't able to confirm who was there but I saw the excitement on Sarah's face and knew that it was them. The show took place within a lofted space and although it is not completely visible through this video, I loved seeing the runway having a large clock on it. The hands actually moved throughout the show and all the music had the sound of a ticking clock in it as well! This was definitely an interesting factor. Here is footage of the show!

Michael Kors: Fashion Week Spring 2009 Runway Show

I enjoy watching Project Runway and hearing Michael Kors' thoughts and I have to say that one of my favorite judging moments came when his mom sat next to him adding in her two scents as well! Well it was with much anticipation that I attended Michael Kors' show and I will say that he definitely showed a lot of primary colors from the 60's. I do love the hats and here are some of the best looks from the runway with an image of the man himself!

Fashion Week: Perry Ellis Spring 09

I still love my Flip but it was hard to take footage as I could see everyone around me clearly but not the runway! All the action on the runway is really bright (read you can't see the models). So you can enjoy the music and see those that are around us. But I am also going to include images of the show that I think are perfect! I love that this show was a bit like the 50's brought into today - such a great crisp look. I also enjoyed the goodie bag which had Perry Ellis' scent - Paul (Food Editor) enjoyed this.

Above is the Perry Ellis designer taking his walk on the runway. There were a lot of great looks that were 50's meets the beach - loved it! This is something that I look forward to for next season! Below is the fab look that is perfect on the beach!

Snazzy Sundays: Head to the Beach With Syla by Sylvie

Last Fri the runways were full of bathing suits and fabulous swimwear! One of my favorite designers, Syla by Sylvie Cachay, hit the catwalk with a super cute Boho Chic look! My favorite look from this show is definitely this piece! I love the simple cream color but the accessories are absolutely amazing and definitely something that I would wear! It's hard to say which accessory is my favorite but clearly my eye was drawn to the belt which looks like it could be agate but I'm not sure. This piece would look cute with a slim fitting jersey or over a tank and a pair of jeans. I love this natural style and think that sometimes it's nice to go beyond wearing prints and to go with something simple and chic which looks amazing no matter where you opt to wear this. This piece and many more can be see on the Mercedes-Benz Swim Miami Fashion Week site as there were a lot of great looks for this show.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was kicked off last night with Diesel at the Raleigh Hotel's Pool Deck and of course, I had to share my favorite look from that night! I love the colors and think that this is definitely a swimsuit that would turn heads wherever you are! Of course I am a huge fan of side ties as well. A lot of the shows will go on tonight so I can't wait to share some of my favorite looks! Fashionable Fridays: It Starts Tonight!

It starts tonight! Yesterday was the kick off party at The Raleigh Hotel and now the runways come alive when the sun begins to go down. What a great way to see all of your shows and then head right out to whatever parties are going on. Here is an image, courtesy of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Show, from Red Carter who will show tomorrow evening. I love this bathing suit that is a great mix of ethnic/tribal prints!

This is definitely my favorite suit. I love the pops of blue and the red that are throughout this suit. Also can we talk about the fact that the jewelry they used would be amazing with so many dresses that you have in your closet whether they are plunging, strapless and more! I will definitely have images of this show and can't wait to share this and much more with you from the show!

Treasure Tuesdays: Miami Benz Swim Fashion Week

This week we will temporarily focus on an event that is literally my favorite in the entire fashion industry! Maybe because I did a lot of bathing suit modeling at one time but I love Fashion Week Swim and Miami and when both are combined, you can't get any better than that. Next year I am promising myself that I will be an attendee/press (and gasp how great would it be if a swimwear line actually wore my - Kitten Couture Until then, I am dedicated this week to the Mercedes - Benz Fashion Week Swim Event!

So this week, we will be covering a variety of designers from the launch party at the Raleigh Hotel all the way to the very last show! The good thing is you don't have to have Uber VIP status to attend and you can still let your presence be known and get various forms of access to this event via American Express! You can enjoy a Poolside Cabana at the Meet and Greet at The Raleigh with a fab swimwear designer and of course you can see all the swimwear lines such as Red Carter and Ed Hardy!

I am so bummed that I will not be able to meet Tibi's swimwear designer, attend the Diesel show, go to a card member only private trunk show! This is a such a great time and if you will be there and are a card member, check this out and if you're aiming to be at the event next season, I will see you there without question! Stay tuned this week to find out about all the great designers at my favorite season's Fashion Week - sigh!

Wearable Wednesday: Oscar De La Renta - Accessory Inclusive

I love a lot of the runway shows that have emerged with that fab summer theme and of course, my eye is always on the accessoires portion. Currently, Coutorture has posted Oscar De La Renta's amazing cruise collection and as much as I loved so much that I saw, I couldn't take my eye off of this fabulous bag. Not only is it roomy and has a great handle but I love love the texture on this bag. It's so easy and luxurious at the same time! You can definitely slip your laptop on this bag and a slim line notepad as well along with who knows what else you're prone to carry at a moments notice! Take a moment to visit both galleries on Coutorture - the accessories collection and then the line in total! Once again, when you can't get to the runways or had no idea there was a show, it's nice to know that from the convenience of your home you can see everything!

Fashionable Fridays: Peter Som SS08 Runway Show

No matter where you are there is always a runway show going on somewhere across one of the many catwalks that are on the globe! No matter what you have access to them whether you were in the venue or you look at a variety of shows via amazing sources. One of those great sources includes Coutorture which brings the best of fashion, blogs such as this one and of course amazing editorials as well!

This runway show is from Peter Som during his SS08 Runway show. Although this look is being presented within this post, you can visit the site to see the rest of the amazing outfits that were presented during the show. I love that this look takes the idea of "Lady in Red" to another level. I love that this dress has the look of the "Ladies Who Lunch" but isn't stuffy and can have a lot of fun! This dress is definitely like a lot of other pieces within his collection in that the cocktail style of dress is played up and has a lot of fun elements. This can definitely be worn with the sweetest of ballet flats and of course, a great pair of heels as well. Of course, you can find more amazing designers on Coutorture as well.

Trendy Thursdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Joeffer Caoc

When I think about Fashion Week - I love that it continues no matter where you are! Today, we highlight in this Trendy Thursday segment, Joeffer Caoc's Toronto Fashion Week Show. Initially, I came across this fab designer while checking out today's Coutorture recap of this portion of the runway Fashion Week. For the purpose of this post, I wanted to introduce a designer that was new to me and that I definitely wanted to let you guys know about. I love this outfit I think that in terms of the top - I love that it is a one shoulder and has a bit of that Grecian vibe which is very femme and exotic. I also love that it is paired with a pair of cuffed shorts which is so South Beach! I think this is a nice addition to the concept of THINK CITRUS! Wearable Wednesdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Smarties

So we all know that this month we have been focusing on THINK CITRUS - I definitely wanted to include this in here as well (maybe I am thinking of this as more of a "grapefruit" element). I love camis and boy bottoms. I think they're so cute to wear around the house but you can also wear the top out over a pair of jeans (you can also think about wearing this under a cute blazer as well). Anyway, when I was out at Project, Accessories Show and the Lingerie show in Las Vegas, I received emails from the amazing ladies of Smart Ass Intimates who created such an amazing collection of pieces.

I love the old world style of this piece - known as the Eurotrash Camisole Black Scroll and how cute it looks. I love how sheer this is and how it definitely has sexy elements to it. In addition, when you visit the site, check out their signature thongs that have quite a few cheeky phrases that are definitely going to bring a smile as you prepare to set about your day.

This is proof that I do read comments that come in on my site. The other day, I had posted about Christian Dior's Fashion Week runway show on See Pretty Things, I received a comment from an amazing designer Mikiye. When I followed her link, I found that she created a variety of flower hair accessories that have Swarovski Crystals on them. This is such a great look that is perfect to put the finishing touch on outfits that will be worn at a cocktail party or anything that needs a little sprucing up. Of course this one is one of my favorites since it's apart of our theme of Citrus and it allows us to bring out our inner sunshine that we carry with us all day long! Mingling Mondays: Support R is for Retail

Traditionally on "Mingling Mondays", I like to talk about a great restaurant or event since mingling is all about coming together and exchanging ideas - what better way to do this then with food and something to look at? But I have to say that earlier this week I read something that made me want to share it with you and to provide my thoughts on this subject. It would be unfair for me to provide this exchange without including an excerpt of the original which will be listed below in italics. A friend of mine who runs a showroom here in the city sent this out to her buyers and I thought that it was not only brave but a view that I believe in as a designer and something that is uplifting for all of us!

As many of you know, I work for a luxury sportswear brand and earlier this year as I sat in our Sales Meeting we discussed the fact that due to the current economical situation and it being an election year that it was going to be a tough one. Brands would survive and stores would still buy but the fact is that to maintain (or obtain your place if you're trying to break in) your place you would have to work harder to be considered as 1 of 8 options as opposed to 1 of 10. Ultimately, it would be a matter of taking someone else's share in order to increase your own. That can be seen as something scary but I like to think of it as an opportunity.

I spent an entire week at Vegas for Project, Magic, Lingerie Show and the Accessories Show. Not only did I go to see friends that I knew but also those that were new designers. It is my belief that for those of us that are still scratching to get out there, that this is the time to show how we are different! As I walked the show floors there were a variety of buyers out there and although we can complain that buyers should be looking for those of us that are different, we have to ask ourselves "Are we going out there and showing our angle on style?" In order for buyers to take a chance on what we bring to the table, we need to believe in ourselves and take that step as well. Presenting a variation of what has already been done will only make your intended target pass over your work and purchase items from the designer that has already established themselves in that niche.

As the designer and owner of Kitten Couture, I must say that there have been times that I have been slightly frustrated that people like my pieces but they don't feel that it's the look they are going for in their store's product mix; however, it is that difference that will set me apart. I use this analogy when you decide to present a product: "You have to decide do you want to be Mc Donald's where it is available wherever you look or do you want to be Ritz Carlton?" Both of these places are coveted spots but it is a matter of whether you want to position yourself everywhere or would you rather have a smaller point of distribution and be more exclusive? I choose the Ritz Carlton school of thought and I choose to maintain my way of designing since it is times like these that someone may be more willing to take a risk and present their customers with new looks in their store. It is my opinion that even in the bad times, there are those that succeed and those of us that have been out there for a few years trying to get noticed - this is when we need to push so that next year we are considered by more individuals. I highlight Ziordia who is not only a designer who I respect because she worked in the handbag industry but I am encouraged by her passion and efforts to get her line out there and that she continues to stay true to her concepts. It wasn't easy but to initially see her in her showroom and then to see her doing so well at Project, this encouraged me.

To become noticed or to increase our share in the market, it is going to require that as designers we come together and get creative! Maybe this means we decide to combine our contacts and come up with trunk shows and shopping events. We look for ways that we do photoshoots that we incorporate our pieces together. I am always open to options (I am always looking for people to put on here at Kitten Lounge and also on See Pretty Things) and if I can help you directly or pass you on to someone else who can - that just makes it better for all of us! Tough year yes but it is not a year that will go by with only those known labels making successes. This is an open letter to all of us out there to continue to make strides because we are not that far away and although there are those preaching brace ourselves for the worse I am saying brace ourselves for the unexpected and access to areas that we couldn't have believed simply because we chose to take a stand, maintain our innovation and we didn't stop pushing forward.

This is going to be a very challenging retail year.
But, one that still brings opportunities and niches to fill.

As store buyers and owners, you have to really shop and open your eyes to everything. Travel, surf the web, review the fashion magazines, click on to the fashion runway shows...and at the retail level, what is truly important is giving "perceived value" in the items you buy. You need to understand how much more profitable an item business will continue to be and how margin builders is this year's mantra. A proven basic: You have to give the customer a "reason to buy"

Fashionable Fridays: Milan Fashion Week Highlights Salvatore Ferragamo

I love this season! There is a show every where you turn and we can all allow our inner (fill in the blank) Audrey Hepburn or Elizabeth Taylor come out. Although many of these pieces may not be something that you would wear out, you can definitely take some nods from these fashion greats! Fortunately, I am a fan and would wear anything that came off this runway! Salvatore Ferragamo is one of my favorite designers and recently in Milan he unveiled a line that I would not mind having in my closet!
My favorite outfit (that I would wear in a jiffy) is this super cute cocktail dress that not only wraps and has a beautiful key hole effect, but it also has a cute scarf. This is such a sassy look which makes us all feel that we are red carpet ready. I love the classic blue color and I love the snazzy elements that allow for shimmer. In addition, I love the idea that you can pair this with a cute clutch (I am so about this and feel that it is a fashion essential).

The peek a boo effect of this outfit is so cute! This is perfect to wear along or over denim and leggings. This is perfect for a night out when you are going to a premiere of some sort and you want to show how cool you look. Once again the shimmer is much appreciated!

This outfit makes me think of a disco dancer. I love the shape of this outfit and how it fits the upper body and instead of becoming a dress, it's a pant suit that is not only sexy but extremely classy as well. I love the black, white and grey colors of this piece.

My favorite "night time" look from this collection is this top. I love how it loops around the neck and the pop of color which shows a green portion of this outfit. I have always been a fan of this look and with a little Hollywood Tape, this is an outfit that will have every eye looking at you no matter where you go. Zang Toi Fall Winter 2008 Fashion Show

You can't see every show but I love that being apart of the Coutorture Community, I am able to look back at a variety of the Fashion Show memories that have taken place. I am such a fan of dramatic coats and super cute dresses (if you saw me in Vegas at night, I was all about bringing in that Casino glam). Mingling Mondays: Las Vegas Baby!

I am such a huge fan of Michael Kors. I love his classic American style and the fact that Michael has clothes that have that modern feel with elements of old world Hollywood glamour. Watching clips from this years Fashion Week runway show, you can definitely see that look within his collection. I love that this year there is an element of the American Jet Set group. I love the warm caramel colors and it seems like a touch of the 60's brought forward. Sorry for the tiny image but I am so excited about this new eyeshadow that I purchased at Sephora from NARS Cosmetics. I love that their new Spring 2008 Collection has amazing shades that add a bitter of shimmer. This shade is known as Night Clubbing - it is black mixed with gold pearls! Those who know me know that I am not a gold girl; however, I loved the shimmer that I received when I tried this on. Depending on what you fall in love with, you'll be ready for the clubs in no time whatsoever. The secret to the amazing and seductive portion of this collection is the fact that pearls of various colors are mixed in to give you that amazing look! Nothing is better than playing with your makeup and giving yourself a variety of looks. I am so falling in love with this line and can't wait to test it out in Las Vegas next month during Project, Lingerie Show and Magic!

I love showing a variety of fashion shows and those that were a fan of a previous blog of mine, Kitten Couture Blog, knew that I scoured the net looking for fashion shows. Today, courtesy of Yahoo and the AP, I present the Bio Fashion Show in Cali, Columbia last month. I love the pop of color and think that it is definitely interesting to present fashion in another way. I love the use of florals throughout this show.
