Treasure Tuesdays: LA Edition ~ Hello Santa Monica

Hello Kittens! I'm currently in LA for the week and just got here a few hours ago! Feb is the shortest month and of course, it's always crazy busy. We had fab coverage of NYFW with lots of inspiration and then after a few days of downtime, Team Kitten was off again! While in LA, for my tech lovers, I will be covering TV Goes Social Conference which is being co-produced by my boyfriend, Paul Farkas and is at this hotel (Loews Santa Monica Beach), I will give you fab sneak peeks on why this is a fab place to stay when you're doing business in LA AND of course, it's the Oscars this weekend so I will share fab events taking place out here!

Usually, when I stay in LA, I'm in WeHo (West Hollywood) but this time I wanted to be able to relax and as many of you know, I'm a fan of 2 properties the Morgan's Hotel Group and the Loews. After staying at the Loews in SoBe for so many years, I knew I had to try out the property here. As we speak (and as the above picture shows), I love that I have a view of the ocean, can exercise on the beach and also hang out at the Santa Monica pier! Upon my welcome here, loved that they sent up a fab tray for us to nosh on since I never eat before I fly out and this was definitely welcomed! Stay tuned with my tweets as I discover Santa Monica and finally attend the Eva Varro store (this brand is owned by the sweetest couple Eva and Kalen and they have been dressing me for years so seeing their boutique is exciting for sure)! A huge thanks to the Santa Monica Tourism Board and the Loews for assisting me in organizing this trip as well as sharing how this is a great spot when many of us are attending conferences OR doing personality work out here. We all have some cities that become like a second home and we want to know more about them!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Beach Brunch

When it gets super warm in NYC, my thoughts turn to SoBe where it's even warmer but totally acceptable to parade around in bikini infused looks! Here you have to have a coverup whether it's a gorge kaftan, sarong or a number of other looks. The cabanas are plentiful and you can meet your fellow gal pals there as you're fed grapes, order drinks and of course nibble on whatever happens to be on the menu. With that said, today's selection is a fab reversible bikini which is a HUGE essential for the summer in a vibrant fuschia color by Tooshie Tooshie (love the name), oversized pseudo translucent sunglasses by Dior, jellies redefined into these thong sandals by French Connection and of course everything can go in your brightly colored Cleobella Mexicana Clutch with your cards and info at the ready!

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Sunset Goddess

Today's look is inspired by my trip to DR last month when we were at this phenomenal restaurant that is indoors but also has a large deck. To feel like you were in SoBe when in reality you were in the Caribbean with Presidente's at the ready (although I'm a super fan of Brugal over ice now too) and the MOST phenomenal Lobster Lasagna that you will ever have in your life was like a dream. That trip allowed me to design my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 collection while also being able to eat here during the weekend during a late afternoon and then eating during the week late at night in the cabana. The water was gorgeous and it was truly a snippet of paradise.

This look incorporates a drool worthy caftan available at Anthropologie that I'm obsessed over by Hemant and Nandita (this design duo is BEyond and I would wear their pieces to a number of red carpets and photoshoots that I have coming up), Swarovski jewelry a fab beaded ring and a sexy preppy version of a shoe that I would so rock and is the new summer essential by Luciano Padovan! Together, this look is meant for lounging and enjoying a fine meal and many drinks in an uber relaxed setting.

Fashionable Fridays: Spring Break 2011 ~ Trina Turk

Sunshine is all the rage so of course you always want to bring it with you to whatever global beach you're calling home! I'm loving ethnic prints and so Trina Turks' super cute bikini that's available at one of my first go to's for bikinis - Victoria's Secret - this is a must! With so many colors, people wonder, how should it be accessorized, keep it easy breezy and pick a color. I picked yellow where you could rock, Michael Kors' handbag which is perfect to tote everything from SoBe to Ibiza. Nothing is better than rocking a mutually ethnic flip flop by my fave, Havaianas and finally, keep it global and charitably chic by embracing this fab bead bracelet by Same Sky (find out how purchasing their pieces in various styles supports others that could use your assistance as you rock them out).

Fill your Spring Break 2011 Totes with Swoonfest Picks!

Treasure Tuesdays: Spring Break 2011 ~ DiNeila

Spring Break 2011 looks kicked off yesterday and we're always dreaming of the next best thing in bathing suits. Now I am a bikini kind of girl - I love two pieces! So when I see a one piece that catches my eye, then of course I have to share it! I'm loving this Orange Tie Dye suit by DiNeila. It screams SoBe, St Barths, Rio and Negril just to name a few locales. This is definitely perfect for those cabana parties or events where it's seriously bathing suit only. I'm also think that when it comes to SoBe, it's all about Nikki Beach and I love the hues and angles in this suit! So to ensure that you look like the sun baby for sure, pair this up with the phenomenal lamb leather cuff by Yasu Jutaro which doesn't restrict your wrist and only feels better with each wear as well as rocking Annette Ferdinandsen's Mexican Fire Opal Egg Ring available at Ylang 23. Of course, no look is complete without cork heels and how can you not love Christian Louboutin in this department? Finally, when you simply want the bag that has elegant edge, finish it off with this super cute satchel from L.A.M.B.!

Snazzy Sundays ~ On To The Next

If we're connected on my social networks, you know that I am jetting off to Cancun on Tues to cover the Royal Holiday Resort with a few bloggers and am so happy that Aly Walansky will be with me on this trip. If we can conquer the bungalows at The Delano during our press trip for Schick in SoBe, we plan to do the same in Mexico. They sent us our agenda for next week and all I could think about was getting my clothes together! But of course, right around the corner, I have a trip to go to Dominican Republic for one of the projects that you guys will begin to hear about in the next few weeks. It involves me designing accessories for a brand and later appearing on TV! More to come.

Anywho - here it is that I should be planning for Cancun as it's on Tues but I have already raced ahead to think about fun dinner outfits. Yes we'll be at an island but I love dressing for dinner when I'm away and I happened on 6126! We all have our opinions on LiLo but I will say that much like Lauren Conrad's first line, this is one that I love. I love this dress as it reminds me of fab 70's/boho chic style which is on trend this season (but who are we kidding the 70's is generally on trend). I love that the dress has hues of salmon/coral, blue/purple and cream hues. In fact if Cher had just come out singing Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves - I would want her to wear this dress! Love the concept of this photo but of course I wanted to tweak the accessories.

I would take out the chunky shoes that had been included in this shoot and go for this pair of shoes by Mr Louboutin! It has that disco vibe but I think it looks much better and I don't mind that I'm continuing the matchy matchy vibe of the outfit. What I love about this look is that I have introduced natural tones! I'm a huge fan of the colors that you find in wooden pieces and in amber so when I saw the faceted glass ring by Burberry and the snakeskin clutch which had various tones in it, it was a no brainer that it would make this outfit look phenom! Finally, you need a great necklace but I wanted to tie in the hues of the overall look and yet reflect a natural component - enter the shell necklace. I'd also check out more items by Mali Sabatasso as I think that the collection has a number of striking pieces in various hues (new designer to me but I am obsessing over these pieces)! This is definitely perfect for a night out with the girls, a special someone or maybe a business dinner where you're on display and you know that you have to bring it!

Mingling Mondays: Day 4 Spring 2011 ~ Custo Barcelona

Yesterday's shows continued to be as entertaining as the day started and Custo Barcelona was filled with color and mens and women's looks. These would definitely be pieces that would be fun to wear on a night out in South Beach or some tropical area but what I loved the most was the footwear! Whether it was cool sneakers for guys or sky heels - this was the best portion of this line! Check out some of my favorite looks and for more, check out Elle.com

Mingling Mondays ~ Sipping in Free Hours

Brazilian Mint Lemonade

1 part Cuca Fresca Premium Cachaça

2 parts Fresh Lemonade

Splash of Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur

Fresh Lemon Slices

Fresh Mint

The long weekend continues as we settle into our first Mon of Sept. Although it's a day off, I'm still updating my Fashion Week schedule so I have to continue to stay connected! Yesterday I told you a bit about Cuca Fresca (via our post about a day in Fire Island with this fab rum brand as well as Shontelle) which is a Cachaca that is made by a Brazilian family. If you're out and about looking for this spirit, here in NYC you can purchase their rum at Astor Wine and Spirits and since you guys know that I am always in and out of Miami, they are also at The Delano - Florida Room (my new love after my press trip there and Lenny Kravitz's spot) as well as the W South Beach - Library Bar. Their Brazilian Mint Lemonade is the perfect refreshing drink when you're continuing to grill or when you have to check in from time to time on a few projects. This drink is super easy to make and is bound to become a favorite. Enjoy the rest of your day with this drink with the recipe above!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Oprah Rocks Natori

I've been a fan of Oprah since I can remember and anytime I see her, I think of the time that I interviewed her way back when I was 12 writing for Children's Express (now known as Y-Press) for the Indianapolis Star (just hearing her voice I knew I was talking to an icon). The advice she gave on being in the media and providing content still stick to me today! I also love that when Oprah wears something it's always a statement and of course you know it's pretty amazing. On the July cover of Oprah Magazine, she is wearing Natori's yellow tunic. I love it one because she looks fab but you also know that I'm a huge fan of Natori from way back and being able to meet her off and on and to have her play a mini concert for us was merely icing on the cake! So of course I wanted to provide how I would wear this same tunic look in my boho Miami style as I'll be heading down there in a little over a month with the girls and of course courtesy of Schick!

I am definitely embracing the cut off short although I have never worn a pair but I am on the hunt for the perfect pair! I love the sandals that Oprah has on but I would go for the beaded look and of course the ring has to be fab! What I love about the tunic is that you have great embellishment already this is perfect to walk around Soho or when you're in SoBe on Collins Ave on the way to Tequila Chica's (my fave bar) - wherever you are rock it with confidence!

Snazzy Sundays ~ NYE Coverage Week: Countdown to 2010

I can't believe that this is the last Sunday of the year! Where did the year go? I have no idea but it's this time of year that I begin to think even more about organizing and prepping for the new year. We have a million things on our plate but here are the top 5 things that are an essential that will help you in feeling that you're getting your year off to a good start!

5. Think about where you want to be: Whatever took place over the last year has definitely allowed you to learn new things about yourself and what you want from your life. Did you realize that something that you wanted may not have been an interest or that you found a new skill that you would like to continue on with whether it's full time with a company, for yourself or as a freelance opportunity? Think about your skill sets and make sure that you're utilizing them as this could be an untapped area. If you've already begun, continue to work on it to see where it takes you! Whatever you do, make sure that you are putting it into action and not just in the "what if" phase.

4. De-cluttering is essential: Whether it's cleaning out your closet, home, drawers or randomness in your life. You have to think about what you're using and what needs to stay. This year, I found that my de-cluttering involved various projects that kept me busy but were not supportive of the goals that I had for myself. It was a tough process as I love being involved but if 2010 is meant to be successful I have to be efficient and focused! In addition to focus, and de-cluttering, think about whether you have a set space to do your work if you work from home. By making sure that you have separate spheres your home will still be a place of tranquility while also having a room or corner that is deemed for work!

3. Reward yourself:

We work hard whether it's for others or ourselves. Make sure you have rewards whether it's allowing yourself time to watch a show (you know I love so many reality shows but I take about 3 hours a week to watch them), taking a walk or planning a vacation (Loews in SoBe here I come - one of my fave places). This is essential as we all need time away. Make sure that you put in some personal time for yourself.

2. Mingling is key: Networking is such a key element to whatever you're doing whether you're doing philanthropy, starting a business or wanting to meet more people in your neighborhood. The simple act of engaging and stepping outside of your everyday and talking with others opens up a whole new world while also carrying your message when you can't be there. I can't say how many opportunities I have had that began with me attending an event for Kitten Lounge, meeting someone who worked at a firm and later receiving a call based on a referral (this happens when I don't even ask someone to keep me in their thoughts for something). In addition, it's always important to maintain and increase your network in general. If you feel that you have been out of the loop lately, now is a good time to get back in or to begin if you have yet to start!

1.Keep it Organized:

Now you guys know that I'm all about being organized. I have my various Google Calendars which feed into my phone and I have tons of journals for various projects. I recently found something that is essential for every person who has a lot that they are tackling. My Agenda is an essential for the new year. On a recent trip to Kate's Paperie (if you don't have your own stationary, get some), I found something called MomAgenda. I thought it was a great calendar; however, I'm not a mom. Before I left the table, I noticed that there was a MyAgenda which appeared to be from the same company as MomAgenda. This book had me at the mauve color and the fact that when I opened it, each week is broken out by each day but also sub divided. For me, I have broken it up as my personal week, there is a section for Kitten Lounge (I have a lot of events to go to and I manage my Editorial Calendar here), I have included my new jewelry line here and I have my freelancing sections here as well!

I'm all about digital but it's nice to have things written down as a backup so in addition to your calendar, you can have information for your lifestyle from important numbers, dates, events and more. This is a must book to have and you'll definitely want to check out the site to get additional items that will enhance your book. An unorganized girl is not someone that's prepared for the madness of 2010! Take some time to think about these 5 areas and if you haven't thought about them, make sure you do as they're essential.

Wearable Wednesdays ~ We're Such a Tease

I'm still at the shows here in Las Vegas meeting with designers, owners and more! I'm happy to say that I have found a lot of designers that I will be presenting to you over the next few weeks! Yesterday I met a designer that is literally someone that I loved every piece of the collection. Daddy's Favorite is an amazing lounge, lingerie and even "out and about" line. When it comes to luxury, you will find it here! Now why is this known as a tease? I was able to get a sneak peak of what is coming for Spring and they looked absolutely amazing as they were South Beach perfect for cabanas, cocktails and more. What is the inspiration behind the line? Mariam, the owner loved her mother's bathrobe and decided to make a line that was not only comfortable but fashionable. She knew that we hate to wear robes that we have to adjust to ensure that it stays together; moreover, we need to have sleeves that don't get in the way so that we can wash our face and do our makeup. In addition we love robes but we don't want to be frumpy! The Bohemian Rhapsody is the beginning of an amazing collection that only gets more amazing as we continue into the next season! This robe is such a fashion statement that I wants to share how it could be worn when lounging at home. You can bring in pops of turquoise with a pair of sandals with a little heel from Manolo Blahnik, Kara Ross' cuff brings in a fab red and this amber glass ring is truly simple. Daddy's Favorite is a collection that is worth bringing into your lifestyle and when the rest of the line is available on the site, you'll be the first to know. As usual, all links in the spread are clickable - so yes I'm teasing you with fab finds and the fact that there is so much to offer within the Daddy's Favorite collection!

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Embrace Citrus Design

You'll see a lot of spreads that are within the "beach theme" from now until early September (bday is Sept 12th). This is mainly due to the fact that I will be celebrating my 30th birthday in South Beach - complete with cabana, some fun rooms for my guests at the Loews Hotel and more. Yes I will be missing a few days of South Beach but I couldn't think of a better place to enjoy sun and to get out of the city for awhile. Of course, this made me think of having the perfect outfit for my big night but also earlier in the day as I will be in my bathing suit. Coverups are always essential; however, in SoBe, I think it's an essential, Ceola has an amazing piece that is perfect to wear with heels and to catch the eye of everyone out to get some sun! Of course, under it you should definitely consider a bikini by Cia.Maritima. I love her suits with the pop of color and the great cuts. On my arm, this super cute bag from Tory Burch is a must. I have a beaded bag from here that I adore but I love the elephants on this bag! Finally, I love the Vianca by Oliver People's that brings out your inner star. Make sure you check out the looks by clicking on the links within the spread! Whether you're searching for the perfect beach look now or for later in the year, this is definitely a series of looks to keep in mind!

Fashionable Fridays: How Do You Do Bikini Style

Growing up in the midwest, I couldn't wait to finally come to the beaches of the east coast to spend copius days hanging out on the beach. I practically lived there and as I began hitting the Jersey Shores, then moving on to the islands, I knew that I could never be too far from the ocean. There's something relaxing about it and as I grew up, it was less about me running and jumping into the water. It was about bringing various events to the beach from laying out, having parties, etc. I have to say that I have seriously increased my beach wardrobe and now that I live in Long Beach, I enjoy watching the style of of those who visit and residents (much like when I go to SoBe - I love seeing how people dress up at the beach and oh yes, I'm one of them). So today, I bring you a semi active and snazzy beach approach. I have more bathing suits then I can count and yet, I continue to increase my collection. Casa Bikini has amazing suits of various colors and styles and I think my birthday suit (no seriously my birthday is Sept 12th and I will be in a cabana in South Beach and I absolutely love this bathing suit) will have to come from here. I love these Brazilian bathing suits and speaking of Brazil, a handbag designer that is new to me Brazilian designer, Flavia Sarno has AMAZING handbags and I'm a fan of her clutches (can't wait to include it within future spreads). I think having a gorgeous tote and a cute clutch is an absolute necessity. During the day, you must enjoy these handmade, Mother of Pearl flip flops from Bohemian Babe - based out of Hong Kong. This is perfect for walking about on the beach! For night or throughout the day in the cabana, I have to say that Jimmy Choo's Penelope is a great look! I think a bit of that 70's glam is perfect with a bathing suit and elongates the leg! To complete this fab look, I love this hook necklace by Cynthia Rowley that is apart of her Fashion and Accessories collection for Resort 2010! What a great way to have the glowing goddess look with these pieces! As always, click on the links in the spread and let me know how you head off to the beach!

Trendy Thursdays ~ SoBeFiT Mag Is an Essential

Over the past few months, it's been sad to see a few of my favorite magazines go; however, I'm so pleased to see that there are amazing issues out there that are always waiting to be discovered! I was in SoBe in June and found out about SoBeFiT Magazine (click the link in the spread) which is a health magazine that although it's based in SoBe, it has an interesting approach to health. This magazine shows how women and men can exercise - this is perfect as Paul and I work together at home and it's nice that we can modify our routines for our bodies. In addition, I love that this issue looked at the way people exercise by age, making water exciting and adding some healthy elements to make it more than basic H2O! If you're into health drinks, you can make your own and you can learn how to make various foods in a healthy way! There were so many great articles that it's a good thing that each issue spans 2 months so that you have plenty of time to try out different routines and to see what you like cooking or doing! Available at various magazine stands and online, you'll enjoy making this a magazine that should never leave your coffee table (unless you're replacing it with the next one)!

Wearable Wednesdays: Getting Resort Ready

If my trip did anything, it would be putting me in the right frame of mind for future trips to warm locales! Yes NY is decent in terms of temperatures but I wish it felt the way it did in SoBe. With that said, I'm going through a major renovation in my closet. I am going to embrace color (I have always preferred gray and black - but why should I be so limited and different bodies. I have recently become a fan of yellow and love green as well. Now every now and then I still love black so why not something like this? I love Roberto Cavalli's kimono/tunic style and paired over white pants, it comes off as crisp. Black shoes take on a whole new twist with these DSquared2 platforms. I love the angle of the heel and how it is an accessory in its own right! As always, I'm a fan of Ted Rossi - the eel clutch, super cute! Finally, Dannijo Harley is new to me but this silver plated cuff is perfect to add a bit of edge to this whimsical meets dancing queen look! Once again, click on the descriptions above if you're interested in getting any of these pieces!

Treasure Tuesdays: Get the Sunkissed Look

I'm still in South Beach mode! I just got back yesterday and of course I still have a nice warm tan/glow so I can believe that I'm still there! What's the key to looking amazing when you're there or anywhere? Great accessories that look effortless. I am a HUGE fan of DVF as many of you know and I love the patchwork colors of citrus and blue that are worked within this dress. Don't let a lot of color confuse you when you're faced with this! Think about adding tones that don't fight the color and here I love the golden look - isn't that how we want to look? Of course, I think that Jimmy Choo is the perfect companion and I love the shape of the shoes (imagine when you're sitting an crossing your legs, this will look amazing). A simply necklace is perfect and this Swarovski piece from Objets d'Envy has not only been featured on the Today Show but is the perfect compliment! Longer days means that you may be going from a fab dinner to a night out so think about these sunglasses from Skyla, the perfect dusk wear as you wait for the sun to go down! Love the pieces and want them for yourself, simply click on the names in the spreadsheet and begin to get these goodies in your closet!

Treasure Tuesdays: Step Out With Tamara Pogosian

One of the favorite things that I love when I go out or am planning a trip (SoBe this weekend woohoo) is thinking about my outfits! No matter how much I have going on, the favorite part of my day is thinking about where I'm going and what I want to say through my clothing. I'm always on the lookout for amazing pieces and designers that are new to me. With that being said, I found out about a line that was new to me and most recently, I have a few favorites from Tamara Pogosian! I love that these are definitely glam looks that make everyone feel like they came straight from a magazine shoot. Whether you're going to a lounge, an opening and beyond, I believe that these should be something you should consider. Of course, I had to think about which ones I loved the best (all the ones included in the gallery) and I definitely love the gold dress that I labeled as My 30th birthday dress! Now I have quite a few dresses that I included here so, I'm sure that you'll find looks that are perfect for whatever you're planning!

Sippin' Saturdays: Crave Ceviche Bar

MainWhen I was in South Beach, I fell in love with ceviche. This is a style of food that is Latin American food that typically has lime juices, chopped vegetables and more. It is refreshing and perfect to have with cocktails and wine. Well there is a place in Midtown East that has focused on this style of food! Crave Ceviche Bar brings SoBe to Manhattan and is refreshing! Earlier this year due to a crane accident, various shoppes and restaurants were affected and closed temporarily. Now that we are in half day Fridays, this is a great place to visit and to support as it has a great clean and minimalistic look and is perfect to go out with friends to relax. Take some time to check out their restaurant and visit their site to see what ceviche is all about.

Mingling Mondays ~ Cafeteria Definitely Brings Comfort

CafeteriaNothing is better than having favorite places but it's a lot more fun when you can share it with others and know that they love it too! Case in point, this week I have shared two places with my boyfriend - Jackson Hole (I love eating there although once I do, I tend to wait awhile before I enjoy another 7 oz hamburger) and Cafeteria! After a long weekend of looking for condos, we decided that we needed to relax and thanks to the rain that added to our weariness (and my drowsiness), I was in need of amazing food with a fun atmosphere! As we drove uptown I suggested Cafeteria. I have always been a fan of this 24/7 restaurant which reminds me of SoBe with a lot of love and comfort in pretty packaging. And as my bf enjoyed Chicken and Waffles and I munched on my Cobb Salad and shared out Fried Green Tomatoes, I was thrilled that just like he loved my hamburger place, he liked this one as well! With a nice vibe as always and food that leaves you feeling full and kudos to the much needed Guava Mojito - yesterday was definitely elevated to a fun day with a happy ending!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ Fashionable Super Bowl Commercial

Today if you're in NYC or simply are a huge fan of the Giants, you can enjoy Super Tuesday AND the parade of our newly crowned Giants. In that vein, I had to share one other Super Bowl commercial that I absolutely loved. It tied together one of my favorite songs (Michael Jackson's - Thriller), Naomi Campbell and of course a tasty beverage. I loved seeing the dance moves from the lizard and Naomi and it was so catchy that it defintiely became my favorite commercial of the night. All of us should think about looking this glam when we're out and about and shaking it up no matter who's around (without carrying how we may look when doing this). Take a look at this commercial from SOBE's Life Water and thanks for the person at You Tube that put this out there as I was looking for it last night!
