Wrist Wednesdays ~ What I'm Rocking

As many of you know, I was on air yesterday morning on FOX Baltimore where I talked about 10 Accessories Summer Musts. It was quite a day as the day before I was in DC and then popped into Baltimore to do the segment and then ended back home in NYC sipping wine at the Gansevoort Park Rooftop. Some have been asking about the Georgetown portion of the trip (deets coming on Fri with a full on focus of the Fairmont Hotels), my style for the segment so that they can stock up their closets (coming soon I promise) and others asked what was I wearing for my accessories. Roll over the images to learn more about what I rocked and how you can get it too!

Mingling Mondays ~ Kyle Richards, Style & The March of Dimes

As many of you know, since I travel a lot, I'm all about a number of reality shows. One of my faves happens to be Bravo's Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Kyle Richards, is my favorite housewife within that show. I think I'm such a fan of hers as her sense of style is close to mine. I love her boho chic goes classic style, as an Accessories Expert I appreciate how she is always well accessorized AND I love that we have a number of outfits that are the same (and no I didn't buy them after the show aired). I got the opportunity to do a little Q&A with her about her role within the March of Dimes campaign, her personal style and what we can expect to see next!

-What does your involvement of the March of Dimes 75th Anniversary and their annual IMBORNTO campaign mean to you and how did you get an interest as well as become involved within it?

As a mother of four children, I can't think of anything more important than having a healthy baby. I've always admired the work that March of Dimes does, so I was proud and honored to be partnering with them for their IMBORNTO campaign.

I'm always impressed with your sense of style as I find that in in a number of episodes, we actually have a number of the same items in our closets - how did you begin to define your sense of style?

It changes from day to day depending on my mood. I always joke that I'm half rockstar, half librarian. I can go from bohemian, to classic to edgy, depending on the day, but I always have to be comfortable.

What are your accessories staples that you can't get enough of wearing?

Earrings and sunglasses

How do you balance your busy life between your hubby, 4 daughters, additional family members, filming the show and running your boutique?

I sleep very little these days. I wake up very early and have learned to manage my time better. It's always back to back, all day long with no breaks. But as a woman, I'm a good multi-tasker.

What have you learned about the fashion business that you didn't know about since opening your store?

How far in advance we buy the clothes in the store. It doesn't match up with the weather and you're not always in the mood, but that's the way it works. Also, so many boutiques in Beverly Hills don't carry enough variety of sizes. My store carries a wide variety of sizes that caters from teens to older woman and I've learned that people really appreciate that.

Will you ever launch your own clothing or accessories line?

I'll keep you posted on that :-)

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Accessorize the Day Dress

I think that every well rounded closet needs a day dress! There's something about a fitted bodice that then has a fun full skirt (if there are pockets, it's even better). This is something that can be worn in the day whether it's to work, meetings, a wedding, brunch etc and then goes into night as well. This Preen Line color blocked dress in cobalt and black is a great addition to your collection. Because this is such a classic look, the accessories that you pair with it can go in a number of directions. Roll over the above images so that you can see how I have styled the look in an edgy way including - Nancy Gonzalez, Marni, Givenchy, Rachel Zoe, Jack Vartanian.

Mingling Mondays: April ~ Fashion Windows

I love taking a stroll around the city to check out the window designs as well as floor setups! As a former Visual Merchandiser, it's a great way to see how each retailer showcases their themes as well as how each location within that retailer brings it into their individual stores! Right now, I'm loving the above stores in that not only are their presentations inviting, but it gives me a lot of ideas of accessories that need to come into my rotation as well as into my closet! Wearable Wednesdays: Designer Spotligth ~ Aiisha Debuts I by Aiisha

It's no secret that one of my favorite designers is Aiisha who has a flare for the dramatic mixed with an edge and a sense of whimsy. I have worn her collection and love the couture quality of each garment and they are a must have within my personal collection. In fact, one of her fabulous pieces was included within Shoe Week's inaugural NYFW show last Sept! Aiisha has launched a new high end ready to wear collection that will be available in August of this year and it is absolutely stunning! This new line's debut collection is titled as 'Mirror' and she launched it at the Infiniti Centre this week in Dubai as well as with a video that has a number of celebrities sharing what Style means to them and Aiisha makes an appearance as well. The Mirror collection sees women as having 2 sides and being able to represent both through great design. Within the video, each women shares her sides including Beauty Expert and TV Presenter Joelle Mardinian, singer Asmaa Lmnawar and TV Presenter Mohamad Abu Obeid. Bollywood actor Arjan Bajwa and designer of the collection, Aiisha Ramadan also make an appearance within this video. Trendy Thursdays ~ 6 Must Haves For Great Skin

I'm all about having amazing skin as you want to look your best! Whether I'm going to an event, doing an appearance, doing a segment, meeting with brands and my team or having date night - it's all about having great skin! With the warm weather that we've been enjoying (although I know that we still have some chilly weather ahead), it always makes me think about ensuring that the winter skin is definitely nothing but a memory before I enjoy warmer temperatures.

SHOE INSPIRATION

Earlier this week, I rocked a maxi as well as flip flops which was a first for this season here in NYC! It felt amazing and made me think that you always have to prep your skin as early as possible as the weather is unpredictable! I'm a flip flop girl and I began thinking of going through my collection of Colin Stuart flip flops which come in a number of colors and is available at Victoria's Secret. Before you rock shorter skirts and a number of footwear options, it's all about making sure your skin is ready and knowing what your go to's are to get your skin ready as well as to keep up with maintaining it!

GET THE BEAUTY LOOK

Roll over the images above to find out why I am such a fan of these items from Me Smooth, Waxelene, The Body Shop, Molton Brown, Bobbi Brown and my fave - Palmer's. A number of these items have been my go to for a number of years and there are some that are new to me but I think are vital to getting your skin ready for the season and to keep it looking great.

Wrist Wednesdays ~ Dynasty Style in 2013

Growing up, one of my favorite shows was Dynasty (one can only hope that they will do the same thing with this show that they did with Dallas to bring it back)! I loved the clothing, accessories and more. Now many of those looks were very 80's but that grand sense of style is one that never goes out of style. A signature Dynasty element is fabulous baubles and decadence and the good thing is that this can be worked into your everyday wear, when you want to step up your style or to go all the way to all out glam! Roll over the images above to see why I'm loving these items from Alexis Bittar, Giles & Brother, Tom Binns, Deepa Gurnani, Miu Miu and Azaara

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Out & About Chic Style

It's that time of your Spring cocktail functions, wedding related activities, awards dinners, luncheons and more. It's a great time period to put your best looks together in order to impress and look amazing in pictures. With it being Spring, try thinking of other items outside of the Little Black Dress box and since we're still in the midst of the battle between winter weather and Spring (in name only as the weather has been a bit chilly), make sure that even your outerwear is a stunner as well!

ACCESSORIES INSPIRATION

Today's look was inspired by a piece whose designer I have recently communicated with! During Awards Season this year, I became aware of Kimberly McDonald Jewelry whose design incorporates natural stones with diamonds. I love natural decadence and from the pieces I've seen I've become hooked and can't wait to meet her in person. I was flipping through some sites and fell in love with her Gold, Geode and Diamond necklace (growing up in Indiana originally, I remember being on my college campus at Indiana University and finding geodes). This inspired the blush infused outfit that I believe is perfect for these occasions.

GET THE LOOK

This look merges caramel and blush together! Roll over the images to see how you can get these pieces as many are great classics that can be worn with other items or are staples to have in your closet. Blush is one of those new neutrals that look so well on a number of skin tones!

Fitness Fridays ~ Keep it Easy

I've only been in Charleston for less than 24 hours (just slightly) and I'm already prepping to head back home to NYC. For my brief moment here, I've enjoyed fabulous runway shows, styled a great show last night (that's a win for Shoe Week and I indulged in some site seeing and Charleston's AMAZING food! I will definitely be back as it was a great time. With my travel, I love that working out continues as I have the use of the hotel gym but I have been working out everyday to Revolt Now Fitness with Nichole. I love that like me, she makes sure that when she works out, that she rocks a super cute look. Working out is a mindset whether you're focused on getting healthy in general, having a focal point to hit or look a certain way for an event, etc. But when you look cute, it can help you get a little more pumped! When I work out at home, you can find me wearing this as it's easy, keeps me warm and then lets me build heat. I also love that the pops of color and Jimi Hendrix is always a win when you're getting that second wind. Roll over the images to see why I love this look and to find out where you can get it!

Treasure Tuesdays ~ In Like a Lion Out Like a Lamb Style

Just a few weeks ago I commented to someone about how the weather has been pretty decent for winter! In fact, we have even had some unseasonably warm days which was nice and then we hit the weather that took place yesterday - rain snow mix! I suppose we can't really complain as it's not so bad but the teasing of what we can wear as we get closer and closer to Spring is unbearable. So to that end, I'm always glad when I get a chance to travel during this time of year - but how do you travel best when you're going to a warmer climate?

I'm heading out to Charleston on Thursday morning and will be back home Friday afternoon. On a trip like this, I tend to have my garment bag and a weekender so that I don't have a lot to take with me and it ensures that everything can come on the plane with me. I love a look that lets me get right off of the plane and straight to what I need to do! I love a good kaftan and once you roll over the images, you'll see what pieces I love using and rocking so that I have great effortless style even when I'm up in the air.

Shoe Sundays ~ Green Your Decor

Happy St Patrick's Day! Yesterday as the snow fell off and on throughout the day, I saw people making their way to 5th Ave to check out the parade that was taking place. Everyone rocked green and as the day turned to night, even the Empire State Building donned this hue yesterday as well as later on tonight. Green is such a revitalizing color and when you roll over today's images, you'll find items that are perfect in your bedroom and living room whether it's your home or you're thinking of items to take to your vacation home.

SHOE INSPIRATION

The shoe inspiration from this curated post comes from the work that I have been doing on one of my other brands' Shoe Week which launched last Sept during NYFW with a number of shows. Although we're working very hard on NYFW for this Sept, we have a number of projects throughout this year where we work with our clients. EXPATRIATE is a fabulous line designed by Kita Nolley which brings in her love for traveling to a number of destinations. Based in Atlanta, she transports you to other portions of the world. This Thurs, she will hit the runways during Charleston Fashion Week to show her line and Shoe Week partnered with her to find the perfect heels to complete her looks! United Nude is all about architectural design as the designer works in tandem with an architect to create these shoes that have been included in a number of runway shows from London, Milan, Paris, NY and much more.

ROLL OVER THE IMAGES TO GET THE DECOR

I'll keep you in the loop as I make my way to Charleston to show you the line and the fab heels from United Nude. In the meantime, you can enjoy what should be in your home and how a little green can make your space refreshing.

I believe that no home is complete without having the perfect coffee table book. My collection is always fashion oriented but today I received a book that will be one of my favorite ones to share with those who come over! As you know, I'm in love with all things Swarovski. Multiface(t)s: Swarovski (Style Yourself with Jewelry) which was written by Nathalie Colin (great interview from Haute Couture News) who has been the Creative Director of Swarovski since 2006. Available next month, I love that the front of this book has a reflective cover which has a gorge necklace on the cover! This book talks about how accessories as a whole category changes your style and adds as well as enhances your personality! Swarovski aims to show you how to do it in a number of situations with this fab guide with hundreds of pictures. With fashion icons, fabulous quotes and a detailed how to, I know that this is not only the perfect how to guide (as they have a number of their creations included as well) but something that will look perfect on your table as well.

Swoonfest Saturdays: Win It ~ Shabby Apple

As you know, it's NYFW and it's definitely difficult to balance a super cute outfit when there is a blizzard outside. There are times when you definitely want to wear a cute outfit that's super cute and girly if it's for a special presentation, a dinner etc! I have a few key events next weeks that regardless of the weather, I will be rocking a cute outfit (and running in and out via a car service)! I have been obsessed with Tulle Skirts lately and was so pleased when I received a fabulous skirt to wear during NYFW and an opportunity to share a giveaway as well as a discount code with you! I will rock my skirt on the last day of NYFW which happens to be Valentine's Day as well but for those wondering how one can wear this look now or during the spring, of course I had to accessorize it.

With this tulle skirt, there's a lot of volume so I like items that are a little more fitting and create a silhouette by playing with proportions. This palette is about neutrals so I paired this Tees by Tina blush cami with this cream tulle skirt with bow. I actually wear tank tops year around and Iove this Liska fox fur bolero. Make sure you're warm when you're outside with this Miu Miu double breasted wool gaberdine coat which continues to keep the color flow. keep your hands warm and fashionable with these 3.1 Phillip Lim fingerless gloves (so you can continue to text as you shuttle across town).

Accessories are an essential with any outfit and I love that they can be worn with a number of looks. Typically, I never wear earrings but on special occasions it's nice to wear something different and I highly suggest these Federica Rettore sapphire, pink tourmine and diamond earrings which are a nod to geometria. One of my favorite accessories is a signature ring and this one by Irene Neuwirth is an opal in rose gold with an emerald cut. Wrap bracelets are always a fun way of making sure that you have a bit of a boho chic vibe in your outfit and this natural hued one by Chan Luu is perfect. I do love going over the top with a number of my necklaces is this piece by Erickson Beamon is perfection. This piece is also amazing to wear when you have a simple tank and jeans - it's definitely a conversation piece. These heels by Charlotte Olympia are so cute and are just the thing to wear for Valentine's Day or anytime that you feel like rocking hearts. Finally, the bag completes the look and this one by Marc Jacobs is a great way to make an appearance.

Today, I'm kicking off a fabulous giveaway which involves Shabby Apple as I love their Tinsel Town Tulle Skirt and there are a number of items that may tickle your fancy. You have the chance to win a $50 gift card with the winner to be announced on Feb 15th! Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Signature Hue

Growing up, I was all about black and grey - they were my favorite hues. I felt that it looked super chic and although I was right, my closet was devoid of a lot of colors that are necessary for a well rounded wardrobe. Then I moved on to college and I definitely fell in love with grey to such a point that I began to banish black and go the other way with this heathered tone. It was coming to NYC a little over 10 years ago where I learned balance and embraced other hues. When Kitten Lounge came along, I eventually came to the logo that currently sits on the site. To be honest, I was not a fan of pink; however, it's become a color I have embraced to such a point that I have it on in some way whether it's my accessories, tech accessories and beyond. This look is all about rocking 2 hues that continue to run throughout the outfit. I don't do it often so it's fun when I opt for this style. With NYFW being around the corner, I have a number of appointments in showrooms whether I'm previewing a line or am working on styling runway shows for this time of year. I live for fab blazers, leggings and great pieces that let me wear an outfit from day to night regardless of how my schedule evolves through the 24 hour clock.

As much as possible, I have begun to add pink within various apparel choices and if there is a signature event that I am attending, I definitely wear this as this color now works across all the brands that I have in addition to Kitten Lounge! I'm a huge fan of Vince hot pink silk shirt which is perfect in all seasons as it can be layered or worn alone. Pair this over black J Brand leather leggings which is another staple in my closet. Complete the layered look with this fab Celine blazer (love the button detailing). I love rocking a fab scarf and have to admit that that portion of my closet just continues to grow, this one by Marc by Marc Jacobs is perfect.

I then think of my fun pieces and in this case, I'm loving these Alexander McQueen grosgrain heels with a bow - it's sweet and yet edgy. Geometria is in full swing with this Laura Bohinc sun and moon ring which is a conversation starter without a doubt. Ivanka Trump's necklace adds in a bit of heft and old world glam while these fingerless gloves by Imoni bring edge as well as allowing you to work on your phone as you're running around - I'm never without fingerless gloves.

Finally it's all about the bags. iPads are necessary in all that I do so keeping them safe while stylish is essential. This Burberry Prorsum metallic pink leather case is perfect and fits within this 3.1 Phillip Lim bag with a great slight foldover detail. Together it's a fab look or a great way to think of pieces that you wish to add into your look but to rock another way.

Mingling Mondays: SS2013 Trends ~ Classic Style

Now admittedly, the American Ballet Theatre Spring Gala took place here in NYC back in May at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center and one of my favorite housewives from Bravo's, Real Housewives of Atlanta, Cynthia Bailey looked so timeless when she hit the red carpet this summer! I had a brief moment of meeting her weeks after this event in New Orleans at Essence Music Festival at the My Black is Beautiful Booth where I was a celebrity stylist at this P&G booth on behalf of Crest as I am a Brand Ambassador for Crest 3D White! She was absolutely stunning and has amazing skin! I love the plunging neckline of this color blocked dress that also huge her curved and how she mixes her metals together. As an Accessories Expert, I am always focused on styling the right touch for this look. As a fan of natural pieces, I have fallen in love with Kimberly McDonald and am obsessed with this large geode ring with rose cut diamonds (my signature piece is an oversized large cocktail ring by Ana Reign and when I see people that can carry this look off, I'm always looking for was to add it in) as well as her geode necklace! Usually, I love mixing designers but these pieces are perfect together.

I left dramatic eyes and that's something that Cynthia knows a lot about! I would definitely use NARS' Night Collection Eyeshadow Night Breed and Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow which has a fabulous blend of gold and black.

Snazzy Sunday ~ Marrakech Style

It's the last Sunday of 2012, how did so many days go by? Like many of you, I feel that I am in the midst of doing a lot of changes in my work and living space in order to increase my productivity as well as to change up where I am! I love an antiqued and aged quality every now and then! Turquoise is one of my favorite colors and makes me think of beaches and everything that is amazing about warm climates; however, it's also a rich color when you think of Marrakech style which is what is being presented today. Whether it's a study, living room or just an area that you are reviving like a reading corner - this is a great way to introduce a new hue to your living space.

Starting with Neiman Marcus, this Old Hickory Tannery sofa is perfect - I'm a huge fan of tufted furniture and love how cozy it makes a room look. This garden stool from Gump's will serve as a great side table and has a nice high gloss finish. If you have a book case or other flat surface, Anthroplogie has a fabulous votive which adds a hint of whimsy with their votive! Warm up your floors with this fabulous Mughal Crewelwork Rug and liven up your walls with these curtains to complete the look!

Fashionable Fridays: Philly Edition ~ Prohibition Comes to Life

With Great Gatsby coming out next summer and our love for HBO's Boardwalk Empire, we're so excited about American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition which is on view at the National Constitution Center until April 28 of 2013. This exhibit which is in Philadelphia and takes visitors on a number of rare artifacts, education about this era and it also includes a number of costumes within this era! Why not make a weekend or take a few days during the week to not only check out the exhibit but to head to vintage stores in the area to recreate the look of this significant time in our nation's history! Jiust as the images above recreate the looks of the 1920's, (picture credits: Photo by H. Saleh for GPTMC) you can head out to a number of these boutiques as well via Visit Philly's Foursquare Vintage Shops list of boutiques.

You know that we have headed out to Philly previously and shared the fashion and designers that thrive in this city, so this is on our list of things to do! As an Accessories Expert, I love this vintage period with glam pieces and mixing a number of nuvo glam elements together! Expect this style to be brought into a number of looks over the next year as this is a fab theme and one that can be integrated within a series of looks that you wear everyday!

Infusing Great Gatsby Style Into Your Look

GG-06432r: CAREY MULLIGAN as Daisy Buchanan and LEONARDO DICAPRIO as Jay Gatsby in Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' drama "THE GREAT GATSBY," a Warner Bros. Pictures release.

Photo courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures

The Great Gatsby, Scott F. Fitzgerald`s famous novel about the roaring 1920s, has inspired a look all its own. Meant to be a blend of modern style with the fashion earmarks of the novel`s decade, getting the Great Gatsby look is all about accessories and pairings.

Hairpieces

A sparkling hairpiece that stands out is a must-have part of the Great Gatsby look. For example, try a jeweled headband with ornate etchings or an accent stick with a jeweled end placed through a hair knot.

When you`re looking for hair accessories, make sure you`re sticking to pieces that reflect the time period. Dull golds, silver and diamonds are the best way to go. Clear gemstones were more common than colored ones in the hair accessories of the era.

For headbands, try to find bold, swirly patterns as opposed to the traditional U-shaped style. Hairpieces were immediately noticeable in the 1920s and should not be easily hidden by your hair.

Jewelry

Pearls are a surefire way to introduce the Great Gatsby look into your style, especially long and knotted strands. Choose traditional pearl colors, such as white and pink. Darker colored pearls were not common in the 1920s.

Earrings and rings should be "baubles," or large and noticeable. Pearl and diamond accents are preferable with silver or neutral tone dresses, but look for colored gemstones if you`re going with a color theme. For example, if you have a green dress and shoes, you can use accenting emerald-hued stones in your jewelry pieces to set your entire outfit off.

Dresses

A traditional flapper dress is beaded and should make some noise when you move around in it. While the dresses vary in length, often showing the knees, cleavage was often minimal. Look for dresses with higher fronts and a rounded or uneven bottom to get the correct look. Fringe is a must in a dress in the Great Gatsby style.

You have a wide range of colors available, depending on what level of Great Gatsby style you`re aiming for. If you want to go bold, try reds, golds and greens. For a more traditional look, stick to silvers, grays and variations of light brown, such as gold and shiny tan.

Accessories

Gloves, feathered boas and cigarette holders and cases were all popular in the 1920s. If you decide to go with gloves, stick to basic colors in a satin material. Gloves should be full length, past the wrist.
Purses were smaller and often matched the dress in the 1920s. Look for beaded or fringe purses, particularly clutches or other small evening purses, to complete your look. Try to find a purse that matches or complements the colors present in your dress.

Shoes

Heels were a part of most flapper outfits, particularly high heels in a traditional style. While not as comfortable as the sneakers on Etnies Shoes, higher heels in a neutral shade are preferable for the Great Gatsby look. Try on heels beforehand so you go the highest you can without being uncomfortable.

Swoonfest Saturdays: Shoe Week NYFW SS2013 ~ Eva Varro

As Co-Founder and Creative Director of Shoe Week, I love merging brands that I have been wearing and am fond of along with those brands that are new to me. Since 2004, I have enjoyed wearing a designer that is all about pops of color, great style and making sure that those who wear it are all about being noticed. You've seen me rock it on TV segments, appearances and more. Eva and Kalen are Hungarian born designers that created this LA based brand known as Eva Varro and I am beyond excited to announce that they will be within our Shoe Week fashion show on Sept 9th at the Glass Houses during NYFW for our Shoe Fashion Week! In addition, they just launched handbags as wel so it will be great to include this within our show and a phenomal footwear brand will be paired with them!

Our Footwear Forward show embraces a number of accessories categories (we can't even wait to share with you who is hosting our Handbag & Shoe Lounge) and FOUR fabulous runway shows! As we have done each Sat over this month, we'll continue to loop you in on what you can expect to see (for those that will attend these invite only shows) as well as what you'll see Livestreamed!

When I think of someone with fab men's style two people come to mind, McArthur Jospeh comes to mind. Not only is he the editor at Fashion Indie but he is also a menswear blogger for his own site, Daily Mister. I love how he nails the bow tie look everytime that I see him at an event, in his offices or when he's snapped by others at an event! Second, is Quentin Washington of Avenue Swank which is the epitome of someone who is always suave and chic whether he's in his hometown of Washington or popping into the city to attend events. I love their personalities and with them in mind, they have inspired today's post!

Here is a way of creating that same fab style and of course you can put components of it together or break it apart to make it your own. Start off with these fab cornwall blue striped bermuda shorts by Kai-Aakmann. I love that these shorts elongate the leg and when paired with a crisp white button down shirt by Maison Martin Margiela (who has a fab design house for men and women). Roll up the sleeves to give it a bit of a comfortable edge and top is off with this fabulous Etro fedora hat which has a lot of varying prints which is perfect for this look! Make the look pop from the blues by introducing the yellow paisely bow tie that's available at Mr Porter. Accessories are everything so we have to have the perfect tote to hold it all together - I love the Fendi washed calfskin cut out bag! This is perfect when you're running from one appointment to the next as no one likes a bag man! Finally, chic is defined by these fabulously suede Tod's driving loafers. Love the color and the serene yet sporty look that it adds into this overall look.
