Yes the Noreaster has hit the east coast. How chilly was it yesterday. I have to get a lot of motivation going just to leave my house when it comes to going out for fun! One of the things that I hate about the winter is that I don't want to feel like I have to sacrifice my style for warmth! This winter I'm thinking of cute sweaters (those who know me know that I am not a fan of this portion of my wardrobe as a rule) but I do love American Eagle's Thermal Collar Shirt. I think this is perfect for staying warm and you can showcase a cute necklace! Juicy Couture's necklace is full of drama and it can peek out from your shirt. I'm a fan of boots and I'm obsessed with these thigh high Stella McCartney boots! Now when you're running around you're all set whether your hanging out with friends at an apartment, meeting up for lunch or whatever happens to you when you end up leaving your own home! Finally, you have to have the perfect skinny jean and this pair from Arden B is an essential for the weekend when you're going for a relaxed look. Whether you catch me at an event, see me talking to someone on a show or you just happen to catch me out, you know that clearly I'm all about style. When I'm out and about, people will ask what made me think of Kitten Lounge back in 2007 and I always let them know that Kitten Lounge actually originated as an Internet show back in 2004 when it covered my favorite artists and blended my love of fashion but even that is not an accurate description so I thought it would be good to tell you how it came to be and why it is such a driving force for everything that I do. First off, hi - I'm Kimmie, the Editor in Chief of this site and although I'm not really into the whole "Letter from the Editor" setup, it's nice to understand who is bringing you all of this content and why it's all here!

I fell in love significantly twice when I was younger the first time was at the age of 3 when I remember looking through Vogue and loving gorgeous dresses that showed me that you could be a princess everyday. For those that know my love for accessories, only the big baubles caught my eye! I loved going with my mom to fabric stores where she would make items from Vogue patterns into reality and when she later opened a boutique of custom design clothing in Indianapolis, I was in love. My world opened up to gorgeous brides, sequins, shantung, gaberdines and more and I had an AMAZING closet. That love came from my mother.

My father gave me a second love - at the age of 5, he taught me how to use a computer. We had an Apple and I loved it (don't ask me why I have an HP now although I have to give it some love too even though I continue to dream about a Mac book haha). I loved playing games on it and wondered what would the possibilities of that machine be? Who knew that in college one of my majors would be Telecommunications with a focus in New Media? Leaving IU and coming to NYC, I began doing PR for independent music artists who were only available online and I assisted them in getting spins and getting them booked. Why not, my Great Uncle was Joe Henderson, tenor saxophonist with Blue Note, Verve, etc so it was in my blood and I loved it. But then again fashion kept pulling me back in.

Is it true that I modeled (yes lingerie/swimwear), had a fashion line and currently have my own jewelry line Kitten Couture, and also assist firms with their Social Media via my other company Sikara Designs Group - check it all. But is it true that Kitten Lounge has been around more than two years? Absolutely. It initially came on board in 2004 as an Internet Radio show that I hosted daily for an hour each day for 3 years. Then I played DJ's who had crazy mixes and then talked with indie artists about their personal style. I loved it but realized after I began blogging for another site that I wanted to talk about more than just accessories on that site and do more than just host a radio show. The Kitten Lounge became my place to talk about fashion, style, beauty, food, music and travel. I believed that as a whole person all of this was important to me and that I wasn't alone.

I realized that I'm around stylish and amazing people who they need advice on where to go or how to dress when they are not in the settings that tend to go to all the time. People have always gravitated towards the way I present things and what better way then to introduce my world of showrooms, designers, industry shakers and more to you! Where do I go from here? Because of Kitten Lounge, I have been able to attend Fashion Weeks, go to Project, Magic, see private presentations, launches of all kinds and more. But I truly loved it when I made the cross over to personality when I shot an episode of To Be a Star which comes out later this year. Sharing the importance of accessories, finding your signature look and ultimately branding yourself was so important to me and to the 6 aspiring models that I worked with to achieve it, I'm very proud that I could be apart of that experience.

It is my goal and vision to continue to push various themes that are not only keys to my success but are core mental investments: I feel that accessories are an essential way to set yourself apart and that in the vein of Audrey Hepburn, you can take great classic pieces and look amazing. In addition, you can be someone that crosses over into a lot of areas (hello - I run a style blog, have my own jewelry line, create Social Media strategies for fashion/entertainment firms and am a personality as well) and yet still make it truly your own. Finally and most importantly, Kitten Lounge is about community whether it's introducing you to my favorites that you may not be aware of, reaching out via Twitter (@cocoabebe) or checking in with such favorites as the Holiday Gift Guide which launches Nov 1st (I can't wait to share the fab giveaways that we'll have, those who will be in the guide and a list on who to keep an eye out for in terms of industry must knows for your business). The experiences that I have had and those that will come have come to pass as I'm always open to reaching out, learning and helping someone else. In doing so it has created friendship, trust and has allowed me to interact with groups that I would have never come across if I had done it alone. The power of collaborations and having good people as your checks and balances definitely come in handy when you're running 300 miles an hour - no you're not crazy, you just know that you can do 48 hours of work in a 24 hour cycle and still go out to grab drinks and have a little fun! I want to thank everyone that has made this brand successful and who has been with me in each phase of re-invention that I have been through and look forward to sharing a lot of AMAZING items that are coming up soon!

It's all about the home - we spent many moments there and the dynamic of it changes as we take on new projects. It's essential to maintain this space much like we would our closets. I love hump days! It's the middle of the week and a great benchmark to see what has been worked on and what can still be done with a few days ahead! As Editor in Chief of Kitten Lounge, I get an amazing opportunity to see a lot of great products and to interact with so many great showrooms, brands, designers and so much more. While in Vegas in August, I was so happy to meet Casey of Hudson Jeans (she does their Social Media and various elements of marketing) and to walk with her at ENK Shows Vegas. With so many days hitting all the shows, I started to embrace my love for the maxi dress, Ted Rossi cuffs (I never travel without a number of them), large cocktail ring and of course a cute necklace. It's the act of styling a simple look to show my personality and to present an effortless look whether I'm walking the red carpet, tradeshows, showrooms or wherever I happen to be! I'm obsessed with accessories and I love large pieces. I brought a little of a boho-chic Grecian vibe to everyday that I was at the shows (you would too if it was 100 degrees). As I walked around people asked if I styled (especially when I told them I had just completed an episode of the reality show, To Be a Star, where I was the Style Mentor/Judge for aspiring models who were learning about the importance of having a look. Although I have worked with a select group of people, work with a few showrooms in the city and have been called in on a photoshoot - it wasn't something that I really thought I was doing. But the fact of the matter is that there is no better reward than showing someone how they can take elements of their style and add to it to create an enhanced look! When it comes to icons of style, I have always felt that Audrey Hepburn was mine; however, over the last few days, I learned that her style was a derivative from Gale Storm, Loretta Young and Lucille Ball! I've included their shows and of course the trailer for Audrey Hepburn's Breakfast at Tiffanys!

Loretta Young was a famous actress who starred in various movies. When she crossed over to TV, she wanted to have a show that still showcased her style. Her entrance onto every episode was one that everyone enjoyed! Each episode was a new entrance with a fabulous outfit! For Lucille Ball, it's easy to remember that she made everyone laugh; however, she wore a lot of outfits that were common during the day and of course she had fab evening wear when she was out at the club or traveled with Ricky! Gale Storm's show incorporated her singing and of course signature outfits as she played a cruise activities director on The Gale Storm Show. Of course my favorite is Audrey Hepburn who brought style to the everyday; however, now that that I have seen the other women that have been included within this post, I can see that she embodied elements of each of these women and of course added a bit of a mod style in order to bring an element of her own! I love learning about older shows which were classics that everyone loved and with the beauty of You Tube, you can find a variety of shows that will eventually be within your DVD collection.

Growing up in the midwest, I couldn't wait to finally come to the beaches of the east coast to spend copius days hanging out on the beach. I practically lived there and as I began hitting the Jersey Shores, then moving on to the islands, I knew that I could never be too far from the ocean. There's something relaxing about it and as I grew up, it was less about me running and jumping into the water. It was about bringing various events to the beach from laying out, having parties, etc. I have to say that I have seriously increased my beach wardrobe and now that I live in Long Beach, I enjoy watching the style of of those who visit and residents (much like when I go to SoBe - I love seeing how people dress up at the beach and oh yes, I'm one of them). So today, I bring you a semi active and snazzy beach approach. I have more bathing suits then I can count and yet, I continue to increase my collection. Casa Bikini has amazing suits of various colors and styles and I think my birthday suit (no seriously my birthday is Sept 12th and I will be in a cabana in South Beach and I absolutely love this bathing suit) will have to come from here. I love these Brazilian bathing suits and speaking of Brazil, a handbag designer that is new to me Brazilian designer, Flavia Sarno has AMAZING handbags and I'm a fan of her clutches (can't wait to include it within future spreads). I think having a gorgeous tote and a cute clutch is an absolute necessity. During the day, you must enjoy these handmade, Mother of Pearl flip flops from Bohemian Babe - based out of Hong Kong. This is perfect for walking about on the beach! For night or throughout the day in the cabana, I have to say that Jimmy Choo's Penelope is a great look! I think a bit of that 70's glam is perfect with a bathing suit and elongates the leg! To complete this fab look, I love this hook necklace by Cynthia Rowley that is apart of her Fashion and Accessories collection for Resort 2010! Accessible fashion is something that is core to my style beliefs! We all have to decide what works for us in terms of budget, the overall look that you're going for and where this will take you in the longterm. I love high/low fashion (nothing is better then stepping out with something that's a luxury item and getting a great find that's under $50!). Fergie was recently photographed at US Weekly's Hot Hollywood Style party wearing a black studded vest from McQ Alexander McQueen for Target! I love this edgy femme look that mixes the cute skirt and these fab shoes together! It just goes to show you that an outfit can come together in so many ways!

Yes it's cold out there and although we haven't gotten through the worse part, I love the fact that Spring is around the corner. Over the next few months I'll be traveling to Orlando, Dominican Republic, South Beach, LA, Chicago and possibly Costa Rica. Except for Chicago, the other locations are all warm weather bound (we also have our crawfish and lobster boil during the summer which will take place at our condo with friends)! I've definitely started to purchase a few dresses that will be perfect for these trips. I love my t-shirt/tank and jeans/yoga pants; however, it's nice to glam it up every now and then! To that end, I have been looking for various pieces that are perfect to wear for drinks, going out dancing, etc.

Last last fall, I had the opportunity to learn about Single Dress! I love that they embody "South Beach style". I love the prints, styles and just the element of resort style. Of course you don't have to wait until you go on vacation to wear these pieces. It's perfect to party at the Meat Packing District, to take up to the Hamptons and more. I love looking at presidential pictures of first ladies and of course, one of my faves was Jackie. She had a great sense of style that was timeless. So of course my eye is on Michelle and so I have decided that as apart of Fashionable Fridays, I will make sure to keep you in the know of the various looks Michelle wears. It will be interesting to see how her style will be. In a recent WWD, they suggested that the first family will be a classic presence where they will mix their high fashion with those that many of us wear. Either way with this historic family, I am interested to see how Michelle and the girls represent their style from functions to just being out and about! I would love to hear your thoughts! Of course we have to kick this off with some images of the soon to be First Lady on Election Night. I know there were some mixed reviews of the look but I thought it was powerful while being fashionable. I saw this dress hit the runway during Fashion Week - loved it then and thought it was appropriate that night as well!

Fashionable Fridays: I'm Interviewed on Pop17 About Internet Celebrity in Fashion

Last night was a crazy night! I was on Pop17 with Sarah Austin, a lifecaster who I find funny and love that she responds pretty quick to email (PS if it wasn't for @JuliaRoy, I would not have known about her and been on the show - you have to love Twitter)! Pop17 is a super cute show that looks at internet celebrity, issues and more. I was able to meet Famous Andrew who you should all follow on Twitter (FamousAndrew). Currently, he is a student at Parsons and is taking a course there about being famous on the Internet. He generates suggestions from those who visit his site and then he does various videos. Last week he pretended to be a banker that was affected by the current economical environment. You definitely should check out his videos since they are not only amusing but it helps him get a great grade for his course.

As a guest, I shared how Internet Celebrity works in terms of Fashion. Sarah made a great point that Paris Hilton became famous by appearing on the red carpet and I gave some examples of people that I know! Although this video is about 27 minutes, I am towards the end of this video and I give shout outs to Natali del Conte of Cnet's Loaded, Sarah Conley of Style It and Kiki Kannibal. Of course we chat about my sites and interests as well. I love being a guest and sharing how the internet and fashion work so well so enjoy!

Of course, not only was I running to get to Mogulus Studios to get to the interview, but I also ran from there to go to the Clearisil presentation at Bowlmor Lanes to look at new products that will launch in March. I will definitely do a special post on this later on today but let me just say that it was amazing and worth being out of breath to get there in order to enjoy great nibbles, a few beers and to see the products up close (a little teaser: I can always tell when a pimple is starting and now I have something that can fit in any bag that will stop it! Absolute love!!). More on this later on today as I am super tired and wanted to get you guys an early post to enjoy for the nightowls this Friday!

I love going and checking out a variety of items that are greatly reduced while enjoying some cocktails. One of my favorite fashion icons is Audrey Hepburn. How can you go wrong. Well when you think about adding classic elements to your wardrobe, think about pairing skinny jeans with heels, the classic black dress, the cute trench coat and a cute geometric dress. The great thing about these pieces is that they can all be accessorized to your personal taste and you'll never have to wonder about what to wear for an evening function that is slightly dressy but casual or what to wear when you're meeting the girl for drinks! I am such a fan of these boots as it allows you to rock a number of looks by wearing these. Each one is good whether you're going for a sassy mood like the Magdalena, a casual and comfortable style as in the Rampo Boots or something that shows you kick ass and take names as in the Botkier boot! Either way there are so many fun options available that you'll be excited to know what look you're going for.

The Kitten Lounge & See Pretty Things Received an Award

Today was so hectic that I didn't get to sit down and check in with some of my favorite blogs - which is always unfortunate because you miss something. Well it wasn't until I got home tonight, via Gchat, that my friend - Sarah of Style It told me that I had won an award and directed me to her site!

The Brilliante Award highlights those blogs that are amazing and allows the person who receives it to pass it on to other blogs that they love. You can only give this to 7 people and it must be that number - tough choice but rules are rules and I am so not giving it back! I love passing kudos on and letting others know why I like something so without further ado my 7 picks for this award:

*I definitely want to be more green around the home and with a move coming up and a lot of furniture and items to be purchased, I have quickly grown attached to Jennae's blog, Green Your Decor. I love supporting this and bringing it into my home; however, I love knowing that I have a great resource to find some great leads. Between her site and Domino - I am so caught up on my decor needs!

*My mom and I work on various business projects together and it's nice to not only have that sense of team but to know that you're with family at the same time. I love Girl-Woman-Beauty-Brains and I love that this is a great lifestyle blog and am always eager to see what the super duo - Beckie and Jamie are talking about. It's like yet another slice of home and you can never have too much of that!

*I remember when I first came across Katie when I saw that she had jewelry pouches. In fact, she was one of the first people I blogged about on my first blog, Kitten Couture Blog and then was one of the first accessories people I blogged about on See Pretty Things. Since then, I continue to blog about her pieces as I am a HUGE fan of supporting indies and I continue to check in with her on her blog Fashionmista which is so cute whether she is talking about her wedding, graphic projects or how to keep people who work from home motivated. She is always out there and I love being connected to someone who shows so much of themselves and helps others as well.

*As some of you know, my day job is working at Lacoste at the corporate offices and thankfully I have always been a tennis fan and since working there, have embraced golf as well. I watched it growing up as a kid but now being surrounded the sport, having a friend whose dad is a golf pro and always keeping an eye out for how great our product looks on Christie Kerr, I have also enjoyed Golf Girl's Blog! Patricia brings fashion to golf and lets us all know about it!

*If it wasn't for Sarah of Style It, I wouldn't know about a lot of applications that I use now such as Twitter, Twitterfeed and there are a lot more. It was because of her that a few months ago, I learned about iJustine and I love popping in on her site to see what she's up to and I agree with Sarah that her underwater Flip footage is super funny. I am always excited to learn about new items even if I don't have one (no iPhone I'm still pleased with my Pearl!).

*Last summer I came across Fashion is Spinach and I was in love. In my mind, it's like the Anthropologie of fashion blogs. I love the tidbits and the way that everything comes together but whether she is talking vintage, showing runway images or talking about being the winner of the Eddy's contest, she has a great voice and one that I love visiting.

*You can't be in the city and not think about where you're going to eat, what's a great place to have a drink and occassionaly, what do you want to cook? I have a lot of sites that I read to keep me up to date on what's the next best thing and since I walk around the city a lot, I love finding things on my own. But I am a huge fan of Restaurant Girl and love that she always suggests a place that I love when I go or sometimes without reading her review or knowing that one will be created, I go to a place that she has gone to as well. You always have to have a great resource and she is one of mine!

Fashionable Fridays: Be Good To You & Mother Earth

It's nice to know that so many people are doing their part to ensure that we help save the Earth. With so many options, it's nice to see how creativity is being used within these areas. Today, I found out about Gypsy Style which creates bags that are made out of 100% plastic and they come in a variety of styles for an overnight or weekend trip, to carry your cosmetics and of course to carry your Yoga Mat! I think that this is a such a cute idea and love the pockets and the vibrant colors as well. I think that with so many people turning to this form of material, it's nice to know that you can support the Earth, positive health and of course your need to be eternally fashionable. Giveaway Goodies: NYC Get Your Pedicure

When I get my weekly mani's and my bi-weekly pedi's, there is only one place that I run to (I simply refuse to go anywhere else)! Dashing Diva has multiple locations all over New York City and they are definitely my sanctuary when I need a little time out! I love their pink colors, plenty of colors, fun events and so much more. I do enjoy going on Fri's to get my pedicure and manicures with a nice cosmo (I was also a huge fan of their wine pedicure as well) Recently, Kitten Lounge attended Dashing Diva's event which had the cast of Legally Blond the Musical in attendance doing a Bend and Snap competition. The pictures included below are courtesy of Sarah Conley which you can see more of her coverage on Style It! This location which was off of Union Square is my favorite one to go to! It was really cute to see the cast members together and to see the winners of the Bend and Snap competition!

Dashing Diva definitely loves the Kitten Lounge and its readers and is providing 3 Elle of a Pedicures (fit for Ms Elle Woods herself) which we will be giving away on this site on Fri the Fourth of July at noon! Getting a complimentary pedicure at the 3rd Avenue location (149 3rd Ave btwn 15th/16th) is definitely an amazing treat and a great way to enjoy the summer as well. Fashionable Fridays: Ah My New Best Friend Elle

Legally Blonde is one of my favorite movies. Some people like to draw parallels and although there may be similarities, the character is pretty genuine and is definitely a friend in deed. Now I have yet to see the Broadway production but I was on the website of my favorite pink nail salon, Dashing Diva, and I noticed something very interesting! They are running a deal that not only can you feel like Ms Woods herself and have a Legally Pink Pedicure (which seems amazing - I love going in every other week to get one done) BUT from now through Sept 7th when purchasing tickets for this production, mention DIVA and you will be able to see this show for a lot less!

Nothing is better than getting pampered Elle style and then seeing Elle in action with her cute pup Bruiser. Although I have yet to get this pedicure, I am such a fan of Dashing Diva and absolutely refuse to go anywhere else unless it's another one of their locations. I am partial to the UES but I love how relaxed and professional the staff is and how you have as much fun alone as you do with friends! Trendy Thursdays: Quattro Women

For the past 2 or 3 years, I have to admit that I have been a huge fan of the Schick Quattro! It may have had to do something with the fact that my sister and I were promo models for a marketing firm and we went all over the city and Connecticut spreading knowledge and love for this razor. At first, I must admit that I thought that the fact that it was a pink beauty product - it was the primary selling point of this razor. But after that summer, I grew to love the four blades that ensures your super soft wherever you shave! I always have this hanging in my shower and ready to use and one if always in my bag for emergencies as well. Since being introduced to this razor, I have yet to put it down and anytime that I am running low, I always have another easy to change head (note that easy to change doesn't mean that the head falls off every time you use it!). This sleek razor is a must for my beauty prep and it has yet to make me have to switch to another brand pr style. Sippin Saturdays: Crave Ceviche Bar

When I was in South Beach, I fell in love with ceviche. This is a style of food that is Latin American food that typically has lime juices, chopped vegetables and more. It is refreshing and perfect to have with cocktails and wine. Well there is a place in Midtown East that has focused on this style of food! Crave Ceviche Bar brings SoBe to Manhattan and is refreshing! Earlier this year due to a crane accident, various shoppes and restaurants were affected and closed temporarily. Now that we are in half day Fridays, this is a great place to visit and to support as it has a great clean and minimalistic look and is perfect to go out with friends to relax.
