Yesterday, Milan Menswear Fashion Week FW2013 ended yesterday (Berlin Mercedes Benz Fashion Week starts today and we'll be following designers within this schedule over the next few days). Typically, Wed focuses on menswear and today, we're showcasing a huge focus on suiting and outerwear from the house of Versace! A number of signature pieces, textures and of course accessories hit the runway.
We've had some chilly days here in NYC and although I want to rock fall's best, I have started to reach into my archives of heavier items! I love rocking fab leather, fur and other textures so in light of staying chic and warm, I am loving Mackage which has this fab caramel jacket which will allow you to be warm while rocking this fab fur look! Pair it up with Pour La Victoire in a must have riding boot as we're hitting the weather that we will have to have jeans on and you won't be able to have your jacket off. Mix hues by rocking Glamourpuss NYC's fur hat which is so luxe and phenom and will keep you warm (best worn with either your hair down OR in a nice sleek pony tail). Finish it up with these fab rabbit fur mittens! You'll look uber warm and chic as you brave the weather in order to find that next amazing item!
I travel a lot and many times, when I land, by the time I get through customs, the airport etc I am scheduled to be somewhere with just a smidge of time to get in my room, unpack everything to perfection, hop into the shower and to get out of my travel clothes. I need my go to looks no matter what and to ensure that I look fab. Just like I have go to outfits, I love go to items that allow me to quickly get through getting ready while having many of the items that I use at home. Hair is much more then prepping it when you're about to head out the door. It's one of those items that you have to infuse (whatever your treatment routine is). I have to say that I love Ted Gibson as he has a phenom system of products that you can use whether you have been to his salon or haven't. I'm a huge fan of his shampoos which are perfect for whatever color you're rocking as there is one that is available for red heads, brunettes and blondes! In this particular Ted Gibson Travel Essential Kit, this is for the jetsetter who wants to ensure that the care you receive at home continues when you're out and about to wherever your destination will take you! It includes 2 oz travel sizes (TSA friendly) of daily cleanse ®, daily nourish®, beautiful hold® and 3 hairsheet styling® sheets. In addition to this kit, I'm loving that I recently became introduced to Shea Butter Curl Oils by Alaffia which is available in various textures and scents - this is perfect for those that rock waves and curls! Regardless of your texture, these oils hydrate and soften strands, strengthen hair and fight split ends, adds shine, improves scalp health and there are no harsh or heavy ingredients. This multipurpose solution allows you to put it directly on hair whether it is wet or dry and then you can also use it as a scalp conditioner which is always nice to do to ensure the health of your hair. Fine Hair can enjoy Shea Butter & Rosemary Shining Curl Oil, Thick Dry or Coarse Hair can use Shea Butter & Coconut Hydrating Curl Oil and Baby Curls/Chemically Treated Hair can have Shea Butter & Neem Nourishing Curl Oil.
In addition to nurturing your hair, like any look, hair loves to be accessorized. The trend over the past few seasons within 2011 has been a mix of boho chic style which allows hair to be loose and just do its own thing; however, ensuring that your hair is pulled away from your face whether it's a clip or ponytail is important too! I love the feather trend as it's an unexpected pop of something. I also love Dauphines of New York's the One Headband which can be worn with your hair down Grecian style or pulled back to allow that bun to have a new life! Whatever you do, your hair is the highlight and one of the first things that your eyes are drawn to - so definitely ensure that you have what you need.
As I've mentioned before, this fall my wardrobe is all about neutral tones and playing with the hues together. It's all about playing with tones together and showing the dynamic abilities that monotone hues can have. I started off with a fab pair of lambskin leggings by Utzon whcih is the ultimate in luxe and comfort which is essential. I adore cowl neck tops and this one by Iliaria Nistri is the perfect balance of layered sheer fabric with a fab oyster shell color. With the in between color, this All Saints shrug is the perfect way to ensure that you are properly secure from the chill of fall. Of course when it comes to accessories, I am OBSESSED with Bottega Veneta's amazingly woven leather tote! A fab cocktail ring from Somchintana White is the perfect way to add pop to your hands and to add glamor to the overall look. Zoe Opaque's necklace continues the theme of rocking champagne hues with the fab drop pendant necklace. I love the antiqued look as it makes the outfit have a depth to it. Finally, slip into Camilla Skovgaard's ankle boot which has a mix of textures and hues.
