Mingling Mondays: THINK CITRUS ~ Kitten Couture Hits the Streets

HbSo this post is another one of those where it hits a number of themes. Today, I will be doing the ultimate mingling! I am attending the Henri Bendel's Open See for Designers in NYC which runs from 9am - noon today. This is a great event that allows emerging designers to be seen and to be picked up by this amazing store. To all of those who will be here, I wish you the best and hope that you enjoy the experience regardless of the outcome (I say this and I have to keep telling myself the same thing) I will be chatting with other designers and I will also be in line since I will be having my pieces looked at by the lovely buyers as well! Obviously, I will share with you what happened and would love to also provide some information on designers that I think we should keep an eye out for! So send me all your virtual well wishings whether they are comment or whether you just happen to think of it - all support is appreciated! In addition, since today is the last day of THINK CITRUS, you'll enjoy one of the pieces that I recently designed as an exclusive (it's not even on my site) that has pops of the theme that we have had on the site.

AlexandraLet us hope that this piece which is something that I just designed a few weeks ago is one that the buyers fall in love with! I named her Alexandra and she has Carnelian (that would be the citrus), Snail Shell, Sea Shell Chips (that would be another citrus in lemon), Turquoise, Polished Wooden Beads and Mother of Pearl. I love it and hopefully they will as well. Feel free to give some love by visiting my site, to see the other pieces which are currently available!

Snazzy Sundays: THINK CITRUS ~ Star With a Great Base & Add The Details

Indiebedqueenf7Before you start wondering where the Citrus is in this post, let me explain. I really do enjoy the Sunday segments of the Kitten Lounge since they are always home oriented and for a girl that is prepping to move in May - this allows me to help you guys out with great ideas, while establishing my own list of what it is that I need. Now, I haven't decided my color schemes for my apartment especially since the apartment itself is not fully established either (details details); however, I know many of the main pieces that I definitely want.

Recently, I received CB2's (the sister store to Crate and Barrel) catalog. By the way, if you thought that the whole THINK CITRUS concept was great here, you have to visit the store, go online or look in the catalog. They definitely have focused on citrus which is a lot of fun. ANYWAY - this bed is apart of their Indie Collection and I love the open platform style of this bed while having the poster option - very Victorian. This definitely makes me think of having a cute bungalow in Bermuda or something like that with long whispy drapes. Now you can add citrus here too and this is definitely for those that are a little shy when it comes to bold colors. Think about your bedroom having a nice mocha or cream motif and popping in some citrus hued beaded pillows or those cute candy rolls. You can even have the matching side tables and have a little vase that is in this eye popping color as well. Whether you embrace the color trend completely or simply let it peek in every now and then, you'd be surprised how much it changes the look and feel of everything. If you're looking for new pieces - this is quickly becoming one of my favorite shops!

Sippin' Saturdays: THINK CITRUS ~ How Do You Take Your Tea

CardewdesignI love cats and when it comes to big cats, I love them too. This post ties in a lot of different items together! First off, the Coffee and Tea Festival is only days away and will be held at the Metropolitan Pavilion! I love that this is going to be a great event that will have the best in coffee, tea and cocoa. Not only can you enjoy warm or chilled beverages, you can also get great products for your drinks. Today's Sippin' Saturday includes this beautiful teapot from Cardew Design, Inc. I love the vibrant orange colors (obviously I am tying this into our THINK CITRUS theme for this month as well) and think that this is really cute and I love the lid with the tiger cub on the top. Definitely visit the site to see a lot more of the interesting canisters, mugs, coasters and tea pots! Of course if you're in NYC, you definitely need to attend the show!

But sometimes in an effort to think too far ahead, I forget about enjoy where I am right now. So today, as I looked through Coutorture which is definitely a first stop on what's going on in fashion, I saw the epitome of what is citrus and amazing! Antoinette Lee Spring has a photoshoot that is currently showing on Coutorture and she has a lot of cute bags but this yellow Dolcita clutch is so cute - dare I say that it is all about the luxe lemon? I love the buckle hardware and the little studs - of course who wouldn't love how small it is! So this is something that you can pop into your wardrobe at anytime when the weather is a little dreary or you need a quick pick me up. Trendy Thursdays: TFW FW2008 ~ Joeffer Caoc

Jc3When I think about Fashion Week - I love that it continues no matter where you are! Today, we highlight in this Trendy Thursday segment, Joeffer Caoc's Toronto Fashion Week Show. Initially, I came across this fab designer while checking out today's Coutorture recap of this portion of the runway Fashion Week. For the purpose of this post, I wanted to introduce a designer that was new to me and that I definitely wanted to let you guys know about. I love this outfit I think that in terms of the top - I love that it is a one shoulder and has a bit of that Grecian vibe which is very femme and exotic. I also love that it is paired with a pair of cuffed shorts which is so South Beach! I think this is a nice addition to the concept of THINK CITRUS! Check out more of Joeffer Caoc on his site and see the amazing pieces from his collection.

Wearable Wednesdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Belabubum

GardenpartycamitangaThere are times when you want to lounge around your apartment and then maybe slip on jeans and a zippie to pick something up so that you can go back home. It may be the weekend or just some day in the week when you needed to take time for yourself! I say that this can be done in this super cute cami set by one of my favorite lingerie labels - Belabumbum! Yes we are in the final days of THINK CITRUS and fortunately, there are designers out there who are infusing this fragrant scent into their lines. I love the Garden Floral cami set and as sweet as it is, the citrus vibe is a welcoming look since it blends so well. I think this outfit puts you in the state of mind to relax and to ensure that you are properly being taken care of. Make sure you check out all the amazing finds on this site and when done - you'll want to order some great items that will make sure that your closet and drawers continue to look amazing and renewed.

CinnamonstreuselI love this time of year! Whether you're renovating your home, getting a new one or just sprucing up a room - it's always nice to tackle these tasks right before the summer comes! I love putting bits of everything in here or there and the Cinnamon Streusel vases are so cute and add a pop of color into the room while still maintaining a neutral quality. Available at Target, you can choose between the tall or shorter vases to create a sense of depth within your home. Of course, you can also visit other areas within home at Target to create the ambiance that you have always wanted. Whether these go in your living room or bedroom - they will definitely add an element of class within your space.

Sippin' Saturdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Tay Tea

TayteaAs many of you know, the Coffee & Tea Festival is coming up! Of course we are showcasing a variety of exhibitors that will be at this show. Today, I'm featuring Tay Tea. I love that this Berber tea is known as a blend that invokes friendship and hositality. The blend has an amazing aroma due to its Moroccan spearmint and blended with a Chinese Gunpowder Green Tea as well. This tea is full of properties that maintain your energy and of course is very refreshing as well. Tay Tea is not only attending the show, but you can enjoy their blends by purchasing online as well. I love that you can buy various blends online and learn about new flavors that are perfect to have with meals or just as a means to relax.

Ctpromo

If you're interested in attending, we are not only giving away two tickets for free but if you don't get these tickets - you can also enjoy a special offer by getting $5 off of admission to visit the Coffee and Tea Festival which will take place next month for two days - providing the best in coffee, tea, treats and much more. Fashionable Fridays: THINK CITRUS ~ Bikini Love

DvfIt's almost the end of the month and slowly but surely we will be leaving our theme of THINK CITRUS and will be moving on to another theme. I am actually excited about this and the fact that today is the first day of Spring! This means we are that much closer to being able to enjoy one of my favorite outfits that I could literally live in - bathing suits! This bikini is made by Diane Von Furstenberg. I love the orange, brown, yellow and white portions of this outfit and of course the sexiness of the ties are an amazing touch. I also love the little wooden embellishments that make this suit even more exotic! This is definitely a suit that you will continue to reach for when getting your beach bag again and again. In addition, a girl has to have more than one suit and thankfully you won't run out of options on Bluefly! Check out this, coverups and much more.

Trendy Thursdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Take A Journey to the Runways of India

I love the fact that at any given time there are Fashion Week shows taking place around the globe. This is a great way to see the creativity of so many designers. In terms of staying with the theme of this month, I wanted to choose some amazing designs that have elements of THINK CITRUS. Thanks to the hard working people of Coutorture, I have included some of the posts and of course you can see a lot more from India Fashion Week and of course other designers that are currently showing in other Fashion Week Shows.
India1
I love this outfit because of the super cute cami and skirt with this beautiful wrap across the top. This definitely makes me think of wearing this at a cocktail event on a beach or someones loft that has a beautiful deck. The embellishment is absolutely gorgeous and I enjoy the trims as well. I think that she definitely looks like a princess.

India2I have to say that this outfit is my absolute favorite! I love the pops of yellow and that it ties on the side. Once again I think there is something very regal about this and I love the black, white, silver and orange hues. You can never go wrong with a super cute clutch as well. This is definitely something that would be cute to wear at South Beach during some amazing event.

India3I like the blend of the sheer tones of orange and black. If I were wearing this, I would so wear this with Carnelian or an Agate stone that picks up these gorgeous tones. I love the beaded portions on the top of this dress and definitely feel that this is the perfect dress to wear to a gala and to set you apart from the typical "black gown" that people gravitate towards. Once again visit Coutorture to find more images from these shows.

Wearable Wednesdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Smarties

SmartassSo we all know that this month we have been focusing on THINK CITRUS - I definitely wanted to include this in here as well (maybe I am thinking of this as more of a "grapefruit" element). I love camis and boy bottoms. I think they're so cute to wear around the house but you can also wear the top out over a pair of jeans (you can also think about wearing this under a cute blazer as well). Anyway,  when I was out at Project, Accessories Show and the Lingerie show in Las Vegas, I received emails from the amazing ladies of Smart Ass Intimates who created such an amazing collection of pieces.

I love the old world style of this piece -  known as the Eurotrash Camisole Black Scroll and how cute it looks. I love how sheer this is and how it definitely has sexy elements to it. In addition, when you visit the site, check out their signature thongs that have quite a few cheeky phrases that are definitely going to bring a smile as you prepare to set about your day.

Treasure Tuesdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Agate is a Great Pop of Color

RnagateI love the idea of presenting so many "citrus" oriented items to all of you. This citrus is more of an ode to grapefruit but is definitely something that I think is super cute with many of the flirty tops and dresses that we will be wearing as we head towards summer. These little leather clutches by Rebecca Norman are hand sewn and have this beautiful agate embellishment on each piece. If this pinkish/brown agate is not you, there are other embellishments that you will enjoy. I love this sense of natural bling and feel that this will look amazing with many of your denim looks and super cute heels. Check out more pieces from this designer to see what else you can expand within your closet!

Snazzy Sundays: THINK CITRUS ~ Illuminate

CandlecandleEver since I can remember, I have been a fan of Pier 1. I love how they have so many items that make your space (regardless of size) look fabulous. I have always loved wicker, throw pillows, papisan chairs and fortunately - all of this and more can be found here. One of the things I love to have around - candles. I think that they are a great way to set a mood whether you use the large ones or the smaller ones. So today I definitely wanted to show another great way to infuse a little citrus element within your home. You can find these candles and much more at Pier 1!

Fashionable Fridays: THINK CITRUS ~ Pucci Love

PuccipucciWhen it comes to Pucci, I tend to love their shoes. They have fun abstract patterns that dress up even the simplest of outfits. What I love about this shoe is that it fits within our fab theme - THINK CITRUS. I love that there are tones of orange, yellow, cream and white in the oh so classic espadrille. This is perfect for short skirts, circular dresses and pants of various lengths. Not only are these shoes absolutely adorable (and quite the calf enhancer), they are available at one of my favorite sites - Piperlime.com. You could literally spend hours looking through their selection and find the perfect match for all the outfits you have and those that have yet to be decided upon. Check out Piperlime.com to see all the brands and styles and definitely think about these super cute wedges which would look amazing for any evening out for a drink or two.

Trendy Thursdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Who Gets Your Approval

Sealofapprovalclutch
The other day I got a link from someone showing the cutest purses available at Anthropologie and totally affordable as well! Known as the Seal of Approval Clutch, this is definitely a must that should be in your closet. I love that they only cost $68 and you can get in the fuchsia or the orange. These are so cute and what a great way to make sure that you have the simplest bag that can incorporate so many elements: great style, KiDS (Keys, ID and Cash) and lip gloss as well. This is perfect to carry in your hand and to ensure that you won't look like you're holding a lot while you dance. The wooden oval is definitely my favorite part of this bag as well (the raffia is super cute as well).

Take some time to visit the site and make sure that you pick up some other cute finds from this site as well!

Treasure Tuesdays: THINK CITRUS ~ As You Like It

Insert3While at Project in Vegas, I learned about an amazing design house, Sogoli. What caught my eye was the fact that although you see all of these pieces, it is the same chain. I love that you can wear it as a long necklace, a sash of sorts and you can wrap it around your neck as a choker too. This is such a great way to wear pieces like this and you are not limited to wearing it like this. I also love the pop of color of this item and that it works so well within THINK CITRUS which is perfect. Visit Sogoli to see which pieces you'll wear with your tunic, tank dress and so much more. Visit the sister blog See Pretty Things to see another color which is also perfect for this season as well.

Mingling Mondays: THINK CITRUS ~ Amai Tea & Bakehouse

AmailogoToday's installment of Mingling Mondays brings me to one of my favorite places. Originally, I found out about Amai on a trip to Tavalon Tea Bar on 14th street which has a variety of teas and carries baked goods that are from various bakeries. I had the best Green Tea cookie (since people know that I am such a fan of anything that has this in it). Thankfully, Tavalon Tea Bar provides information about who made such a delicious treat that I Googled it and came across the blog LovesCool. There I found that Kelli, was the owner of Amai and at the time, they were sold at area retailers. I let her know how much I loved her cookies and posted about it on a blog that I ran at that time. I loved that her blog was focused on desserts and I always checked in. Then I found out that Kelli was actually opening her own shop and was so excited that I could get these cookies and more. Amai Tea and Bake House opened late October and they have definitely been on the lips of area residents, celebs and she was also nominated in Time Out NY as well which is amazing.

Amai2
Not only can you visit the shop (which is perfect for mingling) but you can also order the Green Tea Tea Sweet Cookies and additional sweet treats from the site. In terms of THINK CITRUS, the perfect treat would be the Lemon Grass and Ginger. If you buy the tins of cookies, you can reuse the container to store your tea which is perfect (and they are super cute)! Support this talented dessert shop and check out her blog as well.

Snazzy Sundays: THINK CITRUS ~ Drop a Line

NotecardEvery now and then, you feel the need to send a note. I love email and texting but it's so nice to get a little love in the mail just to see how I'm doing. I also love sending them out even if you live near me - there is something about dropping by a friend's house and seeing someone displaying your card. There are some elements of doing it old school that make sense. That being said, one of my favorite places that I love stationary shopping is Papyrus (whether it's online or one of their many stores). I love that these Tangerine Burst Fold Over cards are so inviting that no matter how long or short your note - you'll have fun and a little smile as you write and send this out. Apparently, my interest in presenting the best of a THINK CITRUS state of mind, has been seen here as well. If this print isn't something that you would go for, Papyrus has a variety of cards within this hue that would be perfect for your sense of style. Take some time to visit this site for this series of cards and many others.

Sippin Saturdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Island Blossom

RumrumJust thinking about an Island Blossom, makes me put myself miles away from going to the office and working! Something like this is perfect to sip while hanging out at the beach or while in your studio creating amazing pieces that are definitely going to wow your many followers (although too many sips and the actual creativity may have to be questioned). That being said, this drink has three of my favorite ingredients: Pomegranate, Lychee and Tequila. In addition, I love the color and it happens to fit with the theme: THINK CITRUS. Thanks to Cocktail Times, this recipe and others like it, will have us on our way to being budding mixologists!

Island Blossom
Ingredients:
- pre-marinate fresh fruit pieces with lime juice and Malibu passion fruit rum
- 1 part pomegranate juice
- 1 part orange juice
- 1/4 part simple syrup
- 1/2 part Soho lychee liqueur
- 2 parts Tezon Blanco tequila

Mix juices, tequila, syrup and lychee liqueur with pre-marinate fresh fruit pieces in a mixing glass. Serve in a rocks glass over ice.

Wearable Wednesdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Mikiye Creations

MikiyeThis is proof that I do read comments that come in on my site. The other day, I had posted about Christian Dior's Fashion Week runway show on See Pretty Things, I received a comment from an amazing designer Mikiye. When I followed her link, I found that she created a variety of flower hair accessories that have Swarovski Crystals on them. This is such a great look that is perfect to put the finishing touch on outfits that will be worn at a cocktail party or anything that needs a little sprucing up. Of course this one is one of my favorites since it's apart of our theme of Citrus and it allows us to bring out our inner sunshine that we carry with us all day long! Make sure you visit her site and purchase a few cute things and support indie designers that are out there.

Snazzy Sundays: THINK CITRUS ~ Perfect Box For The Home

TeardropjarI love these Short Teardrop Jars by More Fire Glass Studio, available at one of my favorite sites - Vivre.com, that are perfect for popping summer elements into your home. It's almost like having a little bit of MoMA in your home. Whether you live in a studio or a large home, this definitely steps it up. Of course this fits perfectly into our THINK CITRUS campaign which will continue to bring all things citrus like to each and every post within the month of March!

I love that these jars are handcrafted and I love that they have little stoppers as well. This is perfect if you just want them empty or if you want to have them filled with your favorite beverage. You can't lose when it comes to which one you wish to bring home - is it going to be the lovely lime or the amazing amber?

Sippin Saturdays: THINK CITRUS ~ Citrus Lavender Martini

Top_level_lavender First off, Happy March - we are that much deeper into the winter (which hasn't been too bad if you're in the NYC area), we're about to "spring forward" in time and of course the summer is that much closer (ah flip flops and shorts - have we really been parted this long)? So with that in mind, the Kitten Lounge is launching it's month long theme - THINK CITRUS. For the entire month of March, we're carrying you through this season with thoughts of citrus. We will be infusing your homes, wardrobe and palate with all things that are citrus! So if you think you have something that fits within this taste or within the color scheme - you'll find it right here.

Now, on to raising a glass. This recipe, which was found on Cocktail Times, combines my three loves: citrus, lavender and of course martinis. This definitely something that is aromatic to the senses and is also a great way to learn a new drink that is perfect for gatherings at your home or an event that you will be attending.

Citrus Lavender Martini

Ingredients:
- 1 wedge fresh orange
- 2 fresh lavender leaves (or 5 - 6 pieces dried lavender)
- 1 1/2 oz Level vodka
- 1/2 oz Cointreau
- 1/2 oz Sweet & Sour mix
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 packet of sugar in the raw

Muddle orange wedge and lavender at the base of the shaker (or a mixer). Add vodka, Cointreau and sweet and sour mix over ice in the shaker. Shake well and strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass. (Optional: Rim martini glass with honey and dip rim in sugar)
