In this day in age when you think about being “Socially Courageous” (survey conducted by Wakefield Research on behalf of SCOPE Mouthwash), you may be shocked to find that social media users (among them many millennials) could use a social courage reboot. With many of us documenting our moments from those that are large to those that are almost forgetable, it almost seems like being social in real life would be super easy!
I think that in this age where we move at a mile a minute, it makes us harder for all of us to come together. This time of year, we have a million reasons to come together! Nothing is better then being able to get gifts that allow you and your friends to come together in a natural way. I decided to include multiple things together, what I love being gifted as I know it's a gift that can be shared with others as well as the importance of having not only a fabulous smile but fresh breath! With being secure that you look and smell amazing, you can create mini dates with friends and families whether you and your sister head out to Shobha to get your brows done, enjoying a Turkish Hamam at the Trump Hotel Soho - after your sessions you and your bestie can regroup in the relaxation room with teas and light nibbles, a fabulous Core Fusion Cardio class at Exhale Spa and of course a collection of cheeses at Murrary's Cheese which once again allows you and your friends to come together!
I'm always being asked what I love in terms of beauty items. This includes a number of items that I use a lot versus those that are new to me but are definitely in my routine! I have been a fan and am obsessed with Koh Gen Do which in addition to having a fab beauty line, they have a number of skincare items that are a must. I have enjoyed using their Body and Bath Body Milk as well as their Body Wash which is like having a spa treatment to start and end your day. When it comes to the face, I love L'Occitane exfoliating gel. For a quick rinse (especially in this heat) I suggest Shobha's rosewater cleansing cloths which I love whether I'm getting my brows threaded at their salon or as a refresher. When it comes to my lips, when I am keeping it simple - Evolution of Smooth is the perfect solution and super addictive. Finally, I love a good dark nail color and when I'm not rocking hues by Butter London, you can find me in Essie this hue is Wicked.
Last year (right before Sept NY Fashion Week to be precise), I was introduced to threading and headed to a salon in Soho. Now, I had heard about threading and have seen various locations throughout the city. As much as I wanted to try it, some of the cramped spaces made me a little nervous so I was happy to go to the salon I was introduced to. Just the other day, a few beauty bloggers were tweeting back and forth asking about their favorite threading salon. I had heard of Shobha but to see so many people excited about it, to see the depth of services and then to see that they had multiple locations including one in Columbus Circle and one on Madison in the East 50's - I was hooked! I knew I had to head there this week and when Jessica in marketing reached out to invite me to stop in, I couldn't say no!
I headed to the Madison Ave location where they have been in the same building but changed floors and was shocked to see a wide, airy and colorful space! There were chairs for those that were doing services that you could definitely do in an open forum; however, they had private rooms for those that were more discreet. I thoroughly enjoyed having Manju not only tame my brows but to also ask how I'd like to have them and to also make suggestions! In addition, I love that the treatment began and ended with rose water which smelled great but also felt so natural. In fact, they have such a depth of Shobha products that were made by natural formulas created by Shobha Tummala (love that she's a fellow midwest girl, went to college in the midwest and is a Harvard Business Grad - hello) that are available during your sessions, for purchase and many products are also available in bulk so you'll find them in spas!
At the end of my session, I left with rocking brows that opened my eyes (even more than my previous spot), Shobha Rosewater Freshening Cloths (both Manju and I used them to clean our hands prior to my threading and they were used to clean my eyebrow area prior to starting), Shobha Rosewater Calming Gel (which feels and smells phenomenal) and a Shobha Eyebrow Pencil for brunettes to fill in certain areas. I love trying new places and sharing with my readers of course, but I love when I have found a new home! With so many services (check out sugaring, the fact that men and women can go and its accessibility - this is definitely a must visit!
I'm always doing something in terms of getting a spa treatment or some level of beauty maintenance. I work out, spa from home or whatever my schedule allows for but there are those days from time to time where the whole day is built around "Beautifying" which means everything happens to take place on the same day. As many of you know, this is the first time since last June that I will have had about 6 - 8 weeks where there is no travel scheduled for me and I can actually enjoy being in the city (of course I will still be in meetings but at least I'm not jumping on a flight every few days - unless my schedule gets tweaked). It allows me to take some personal time, focus on prep that needs to happen for upcoming New York Fashion Week and just enjoy not being in transit. Getting back from a successful stint in DR last week, I began booking my threading, Turkish Hammam treatment (Trump Soho), hair appointment and mani/pedi (Polished Beauty Bar) and decided that Monday was the day. I'll kick it off with some yoga and cardio, do some light shopping, nibble a bit and just enjoy the day from the inside out!
With that said, I need an easy look so today it's all about the maxi (no shocker there and Anthropologie is always a good place to start when you're thinking of dresses), super easy shoes that allow me to move but are slightly elevated from rocking my Havaianas (which I am prone to do when I truly want to be comfy) and some fantastic accessories. I love mixing sweet and edgy so I am in LOVE with Pamela Love's ring which definitely makes the eye take notice and I love the bib necklace with it's vibrant Carnelianesque tones in Agate (another Anthropologie winner)! Perfect day to be out and about and to continue to de-stress!
