Wearable Wednesdays: His Style ~ Embraces Hues

NYFW has come and gone and now other cities are rocking their runways with a number of designers. We enjoyed some phenomenal weather (even though during NYFW we were going to have rain for days) and then fall magically came when the runways went quiet. I love that we're now in fun layers and I've been rocking fun looks as I have also been wearing my line, Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12! This fashion week season it has been super clear that orange is a hue that is going to be huge for Spring 12 for mens and womens. Good thing that we can all rock orange so his style will definitely incorporate the above look!

I love Balmain's peacoat - which is classic chic and who doesn't love the buttons, pair this with a simple shirt and a fan pair of jeans of his choice. I'm a huge fan of texture and hues so this Etro Houndstooth scarf is amazing and of course, you can't go wrong with Prada - these penny drivers are divine. Finish it all up with J Crew's weekender bag which is perfect for apple and pumpkin picking or just going away for a bit of a vacation.

Swoonfest Saturdays ~ Couple's Retreats

The summer is all about living it to the fullest, enjoying the weather and just being out and about. But in the midst of so much activity, you could use a break from all the fun and why not share it with your honey? In addition, I have to say that with so much activity and planning going on, I know it may be a bit before I get to take some much needed R&R. But for those who can take it now, you should look at HauteLook Getaways which offers the finest retreats at up to 50% off for indulging in luxurious spa services and defying summer beauty challenges – think chlorine, salt water and sun damage. With so many options, you can escape to bikini boot camp in Mexico to get in shape, or kick up your feet at a villa in Maui!

Although many lucky ducks were able to enjoy yesterday's deal at Terranea Resort Rancho Palos Verdes, there are so many more that you can get in on. Today, you can keep it state side by heading over to The Liaison Capitol Hill: Washington, DC or La Quinta Resort & Club and PGA West! But the opportunities continue with the below and stay connected by visiting and signing up for HauteLook:

(7.17) Wailea Beach Villas: Maui

(7.17) Bikini Boot camp: Tulum, Mexico

(7.18) Le Tahaa: Tahiti

(7.19) Velas Vallarta All-Inclusive Suite Resort

(7.19) The Crescent Hotel Beverly Hills

Trendy Thursdays: Spring Break 2011: His Style ~ Hamps Bound

I may be heading to DR next week but it's for work I swear! I'll be designing my Spring 12 collection for Sebago! But don't think that I'm not thinking of the first vacation that Paul and I will be taking some point soon I hope! Yes we headed out to Austin as our first travel experience as well as to Philly - but once again work! So with that said I'm thinking of warm locales or his beauty bounty when it comes to taking a long weekend in the Hamptons! With that said, he loves beauty as much as I do and so why not have him decked out in some beauty product that would be perfect for him! Now I know that he's all about smelling phenom and I love Ginseng so Molton Brown is the perfect way to spice up some good things! Mingling Mondays ~ Meet Sabina (Founder, Designer, Sabina Les)

The elegance of glamorous 70's style with bold statement prints
When it's time to relax, we'll find her in Dubai!
Her guilty please includes large amounts of coffee and dark chocolate.
Sabina loves being able to walk around NYC to experiment with different restaurants and food. She loves Japanese and Mexican food!
Sabina, Founder & Designer of Sabina Les

As an Accessories Expert, I'm always sharing my essential accessory picks with everyone and I naturally gravitate towards those that are accessory designers. A few years ago I remember Sabina reaching out to me about her scarves and weeks later, I found myself at the Soho House at a trunk show and happened to meet the designer and her printed scarves without knowing that she would be there! From then on, we'd run into each other, I'd share her trunk shows taking place at Bloomingdale's in Soho or at Henri Bendels! Recently, we were both at a phenomenal event for the book launch of Always in Style which included her scarves within the styling. I'm always happy to see and hear her so above as always, you can find out more about Sabina Les who is bringing back the love of scarves, prints and just a new way to showcase ourselves! Find out her favorite loves and of course we;ll fill in the rest here!

She's a super busy lady and of course you can catch her at her trunk shows in Henri Bendels this month April 20th - 23rd and 27th - 30th! With so much going on, we love that she's as attached to her iPhone as I am with my HTC and like many of us, her next step to stay connected fashionably is to start rocking an iPad (I suggest creating some kind of a case that has the printed scarf look to it). Both her iPhone (and I'm sure iPad) will keep her organized with Evernote, Twitter, Dictation, Solitaire and Sudoku (sometimes organization needs to have some fun in there too).

The success of Sabina Les can't be denied as she is in the Accessories Council and has been featured on the Today Show, Elle and so much more. So of course, I wanted to know what will be coming up for this progressive designer! First off she explained that, "I'd love to see a confident and fashionable woman rocking my scarves. A dynamic woman who appreciates the versatility of a great fashion accessory like any of my scarves." I love knowing that she loves the everyday woman as much as any celeb that is rocking her pieces. In the future, you can expect, "silk cocktail purses and jewelry to the brand. Also, my first introduction into home market with silk printed cushions." Without question, pop into her trunk show and of course start rocking her pieces whether in your outfits or within your home!

If you love finding out about Andrea, make sure that you check out Andrea, founder, designer and artist of Maria Cielo. from last week.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Traveling Vanity

I have products that I use all the time whether I'm home or I'm traveling. Then I have products I use when I am about to go on or have come back on a trip. These products generally also find there way on my trips as well. I think it's important to prep your body when you're traveling whether it's a vacation, press tours, etc. Then when you come back (based on the length of time of your trip) your body should be pampered as traveling is always an experience. Like many of my blogger associates, I find myself in the mix of press trips and tours where you travel for weeks at a time and in between make a pit stop home. When this season hits I find that you have to pamper yourself while you're away.

Above are a series of products that are available from of one of my fave websites Smallflower. By taking these items with me I feel that like I'm at home and yet being able to experience items that I normally don't when I am in my own bathroom. I love getting massages and many times I will bring my own with me so thankfully, I have started using Lavendar Body Oil by Kneipp! Although I love trying various soaps that are offered by the hotels I stay at, I also love (during the fall) Caswell-Massey's Black Currant Soap. It has such a rich smell and I love using it when I take a shower at night to make it easier to sleep. When I travel, I love to experience as much as I can and when it is a press trip it's late nights and early mornings. Thankfully, I started using Orange Blossom Energizer by Annemarie Borlind which is a great way to wake your face up and to make you look refreshed and not like you might have had one too many cocktails from the night before! Citrus is always a good thing to bring into your beauty routine. Finally, I'm a fan of Rosebud Perfume Company and I love changing it up from the classic Rosebud so when I travel, you'll see me carrying Mocha Rose! It's my last day in Cancun and in a few days I will be in the Dominican Republic but it's nice to know when I travel my vanity comes with me and it allows me to play with new items!

Snazzy Sundays ~ NYE Coverage Week: Countdown to 2010

I can't believe that this is the last Sunday of the year! Where did the year go? I have no idea but it's this time of year that I begin to think even more about organizing and prepping for the new year. We have a million things on our plate but here are the top 5 things that are an essential that will help you in feeling that you're getting your year off to a good start!

5. Think about where you want to be: Whatever took place over the last year has definitely allowed you to learn new things about yourself and what you want from your life. Did you realize that something that you wanted may not have been an interest or that you found a new skill that you would like to continue on with whether it's full time with a company, for yourself or as a freelance opportunity? Think about your skill sets and make sure that you're utilizing them as this could be an untapped area. If you've already begun, continue to work on it to see where it takes you! Whatever you do, make sure that you are putting it into action and not just in the "what if" phase.

4. De-cluttering is essential: Whether it's cleaning out your closet, home, drawers or randomness in your life. You have to think about what you're using and what needs to stay. This year, I found that my de-cluttering involved various projects that kept me busy but were not supportive of the goals that I had for myself. It was a tough process as I love being involved but if 2010 is meant to be successful I have to be efficient and focused! In addition to focus, and de-cluttering, think about whether you have a set space to do your work if you work from home. By making sure that you have separate spheres your home will still be a place of tranquility while also having a room or corner that is deemed for work!

3. Reward yourself:

We work hard whether it's for others or ourselves. Make sure you have rewards whether it's allowing yourself time to watch a show (you know I love so many reality shows but I take about 3 hours a week to watch them), taking a walk or planning a vacation (Loews in SoBe here I come - one of my fave places). This is essential as we all need time away. Make sure that you put in some personal time for yourself.

2. Mingling is key: Networking is such a key element to whatever you're doing whether you're doing philanthropy, starting a business or wanting to meet more people in your neighborhood. The simple act of engaging and stepping outside of your everyday and talking with others opens up a whole new world while also carrying your message when you can't be there. I can't say how many opportunities I have had that began with me attending an event for Kitten Lounge, meeting someone who worked at a firm and later receiving a call based on a referral (this happens when I don't even ask someone to keep me in their thoughts for something). In addition, it's always important to maintain and increase your network in general. If you feel that you have been out of the loop lately, now is a good time to get back in or to begin if you have yet to start!

1.Keep it Organized:

Now you guys know that I'm all about being organized. I have my various Google Calendars which feed into my phone and I have tons of journals for various projects. I recently found something that is essential for every person who has a lot that they are tackling. My Agenda is an essential for the new year. On a recent trip to Kate's Paperie (if you don't have your own stationary, get some), I found something called MomAgenda. I thought it was a great calendar; however, I'm not a mom. Before I left the table, I noticed that there was a MyAgenda which appeared to be from the same company as MomAgenda. This book had me at the mauve color and the fact that when I opened it, each week is broken out by each day but also sub divided. For me, I have broken it up as my personal week, there is a section for Kitten Lounge (I have a lot of events to go to and I manage my Editorial Calendar here), I have included my new jewelry line here and I have my freelancing sections here as well!

I'm all about digital but it's nice to have things written down as a backup so in addition to your calendar, you can have information for your lifestyle from important numbers, dates, events and more. This is a must book to have and you'll definitely want to check out the site to get additional items that will enhance your book. An unorganized girl is not someone that's prepared for the madness of 2010! Take some time to think about these 5 areas and if you haven't thought about them, make sure you do as they're essential.

Trendy Thursdays ~ Get a Little More For Your Spa

It's been quite a year and that statement in itself is a loaded one no matter what it means to you in particular! With that said, in the time of gifting others, you need to make sure that you reward yourself and give a little bonus to you! Check out the Spa Week deal which is definitely good for you and others that are on Santa's list! Get a $100 Spa Week card which is good at various participating spa vendors and yet pay $80 (the great the denomination, that's just a little extra spa time for you so if you want to buy more than $80 you'll see what you will get when you click the drop down menu)! All over North America, you can find the spa you have always wanted to go to whether it is in your backyard or someplace that you will be visiting! Trendy Thursdays: Project Detox ~ The Journey Begins

Aerial Art by Spectral Q ~ Photography by J. Emilio Flores

In an ongoing series, Keren Weinstein, our Guest Life-Balance Editor, took a much needed trip. More than the need to go on vacation to a new locale, she wanted to find her own sense of balance and thus Project Detox began. Thankfully, Keren will share her journey which will provide a little insight into our needs of finding our equilibrium.

Bags packed and ready to jet set.

The boys are in a different time zone and I have confirmation that they are more than OK! and are actually having a fun’tabulous father-n-son bonding vacation.

Perfect.

Being on the cusp between genuinely happy for them and envy of their time together without me is exactly the point where I can truly allow myself to disconnect and have a guilt free solo trip for Me (remember, I have to chuck Universal Mommy Guilt out before I depart on my first adventure and I am a Jewish mother…so pressure’s on).

It is amazing how the Guilt naturally gets swallowed up by the fact that they are having a better time there and you know your son has a smile on his face even without you around.

Mommy Me time has officially started.

Ever notice when you choose to set an Intention for yourself the world opens up to you as if you are wearing 3D glasses with that Intention?

Same world. Different opportunities & experiences.

We have all clipped out a limited edition (AKA Must Have) LV handbag or Gucci Boots from Harper’s Bazaar, hung it up at our desks and noticed that somehow they made their way to our closets.

This is not a new concept by any means and has been around way before me from Kabalah to the Secret but for a full-time working mother on a mission to restore balance into her life this self-taught-via-experience concept could not come at a better time.

The above picture, and one that captures the essence of what I set out to do on Project Detox, was created by an amazing producer in L.A that I met up with (co-founder of unitenow.org). In this picture, over 4,000 school children from Los Angeles spelled out “Restore Balance” on a beach in celebration of the 12th Annual Ocean Day Kids’ Adopt-A-Beach Clean-Up. No, my Intention did not get this amazing project with 4000 kids to happen but it did bring me to meeting up with Mark and literally stumbling upon the work he created that captures the energy of my Intention for Project Detox – to restore balance.

First Stop – Tucson Arizona.

Mingling Mondays: See the Dominican on Flickr

Taking 9 days off and coming back to the realy world can be a bit much! Although I came back yesterday from the Dominican Republic, I am taking an extra day of rest and playing a little catch up (on here, emails, Twitter and more)! There are a lot of great things going on and I need to get adjusted to the pace of NY and the cold. You can also read about it in detail on a new blog I am starting called, Boardwalk Escapes. This covers what's going on in Long Beach, NY and on beaches and boardwalks in general! You can see everything I have on my Flickr account (click on the section that says Dominican Republic and if you have an account there, let me know)!

Snazzy Sundays: Taking a Breather

For the past 8 days, I have been in the Dominican Republic. One of the things that I love after being away somewhere amazing is to come back to your familiar surroundings. There is something about being home again that makes you realize how great it is to be there. With that being said, when I return from a trip, I generally make sure that I have no plans the next day and I enjoy lounging. Above are some super cute pillows that are perfect to prop yourself up when it comes to laying in bed or curling up in your favorite chair. Take a peek at these great finds that change your room in an instant!

Snazzy Sundays: How Do You Travel?

Traveling can be quite an issue. There is the packing, making sure that everything is in the right container and now we have to pack things that make the actual flight bearable. With that being said, one of my favorite luggage brands - Bric's is always a good place to start when it comes to having pieces that are easy to identify when you're in baggage claim. If you have standard black luggage (raising my hand), then look for tags that will make your bag pop! I love having colors and this is definitely an easy and reasonably priced way to go about this. When you're on the flight, how about this cute Juicy Couture set with a neck rest and an eye mask! What a great way to bring in some color (don't forget a blanket as well) and for those who like to bring their favorite beverage how about this cute plastic flask from the Container Store. For those that will pass on this, you can always have this for the beach later on! Finally, how about these cute candles from Bond No. 9 that are perfect for traveling. After all the chaos it'll be nice to have a scent from home (and it comes in a great box). Enjoy these great ideas and think about what you will have when you're prepping for vacation!

Sippin Saturdays: On the Bookshelf

Oh man! So on March 7th I will be heading to the Dominican Republic for 8 days of sun and warmth! Seeing that I am not into scuba diving and all of these various sports, I need to have a great book while my boyfriend enjoys the water sports! There are so many great books out there (and sagas - last year I was able to read all of the Harry Potter books which was amazingly good)! I have to say that I am excited about reading some of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's works as I have only read 100 Years of Solitude, it is rumored that at the age of 89, he has worked on a new book where he has a few versions of it (I got this from Latina Magazine which has an amazing look in this month's issue about Sessilee Lopez) and is currently torn between which one to go with. With all the comments on Twitter, I have started to become curious about Twilight but will only dive in if I read everything! In addition, there are some other great books on the horizon as well! So if you see me on the beach, you'll see me in my bathing suit with my large hat, Marc Jacobs sunglasses and peeking out of my Tory Burch beaded bag - one of these books that are my current picks! If you don't agree, let me know what you're reading or will be soon.

Trendy Thursdays: Treat Your Skin To a Holiday Treat

As we are all running around and prepping for the holiday parties at work, with friends and going on vacation - think about you. We all need to find whatever way we can to reduce our worries and if you're located in NYC, take a trip to Beam Laser Spa where you can be 6 sessions away from a hairless existence - where you decide, it's up to you! But if you're looking for a relaxing environment with two of the sweetest and conversational sisters, then Andrea and Liza are your girls. This amazing Brazilian duo make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in and they explain everything you need to know to be completely comfortable. I have been to two sessions and will be going again on the 20th of this month, my underarms are amazing! I never have to wonder about a shadow or to take time to have to deal with them. I can get up and go - I can't wait until the summer when I will definitely love this!

If you're thinking about this, you can get a test patch for free and then for those who are ready to start, prior to Jan 1st, if you visit Beam Laser Spa onine, you can get 25% off on packages (that would be 6 treatments). Definitely begin to think about this so that if you happen to be traveling for the holidays you can have your best foot forward!

Mingling Mondays ~ Las Vegas Baby!

Vzalobby06I am heading out to Vegas this very moment for those of you that are reading this at work this morning. I am so excited, I have never gone and I will spend the next few days visiting restaurants, clubs and designers as the Accessories Show, Project, Pool, Magic and the Lingerie Show. This is definitely a trip that I have been looking forward to and with my headquarters being the lovely Venetian, I can't wait to share this with you via blogs, video and more. So, make sure you check out this blog and of course, my sister blog: See Pretty Things. Hopefully you will get multiple entries from me! If you're out here for the shows, let me know your booth and I will drop by and say "hello". So enjoy this image of the Venetian which looks amazing and I will have to tell you what I think about this when I finally get here! For all of you back home, "Love You - Miss You"

Wearable Wednesdays ~ Flower Power

Flower I love t-shirts! Those with graphics are even better! I think they're perfect year around and they can be layered as well. I love this shirt with the pops of yellow on it. What a sunny shirt to wear when you're out and about with friends on a weekend brunch, when you're traveling and want to wear something comfortable. I love the 60/70's "Love Theme" that seems like something Beatles oriented. The best thing about this shirt is that for under $9, it's all yours - what a great way to build your weekend wardrobe or your vacation one if you're about to head out on a trip. You have to love Forever 21 and if it's not in your area, you can shop online which is always a good thing! Check out more pieces on Forever 21 for you and others (great gifting).
