It's been a crazy week and with the weekend being hours away, here's a little accessories inspiration via Ghurka which is a great leather goods line that is peeking behind the seams to showcase the hand craftsmanship. As an Accessories Expert, I'm all about the details and being able to tell the story of the brand which this video shares so well. You know that when I designed my line with Sebago for my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Spring 12 collection, I kept talking about the process, the leather, the craftsmanship etc so it's always a joy to share other brands that also believe in these components when they make their goods.
It's about that time! Next week I will be traveling and I always have items that I'm loving! Watch my video as I share my current loves - Avon, Elizabeth Grant, Lush Cosmetics and Ole Henriksen.
As some of you may know, next Wed I will be shooting a campaign for a luxe brand in a fab major magazine! The following week I will also shoot a video as well. As many of you know, I'm frequently on HSN (back next month) as well so the fact is - I'm always prepping for the next shoot. I have a series of items that are a must in making your skin look amazing. Even though I think that you should always treat your skin right, I'm a firm believer that a week prior to any shoot, video or segment you must do a few things a little different. In addition to my increased workout regimen, I step up my beauty game! Below are some fab items that I definitely approve of!
I have been a Palmer's Cocoa Butter girl since I can remember (first memory - being 3 using it and currently, I go through quite a bit of this - no container is large enough to last around me)! It makes sure that you're skin has a fab glow, you smell like a walking cocoa butter ball and your skin is ultra soft - all things that play well for the camera. Over the past year, I have been a fan of my Clarisonic Mia which is perfect for my face, has timed rotations and keeps my face glowing! So when the Clarisonic Plus arrived at my door, I knew that this would be an updated oldie but goodie that I would not want to miss using whether I'm at home or on the road traveling! I love that this is for the face and the body which means super soft skin all over when you leave the shower with heads that are appropriate to use! With all the focus on the skin, I do believe in body scrubs which should be used twice a week. I'm always trying something new but I love Pacifica Kona Coffee & Sugar Detox - smells phenom and it's super invigorating! Finally, it's all about the lips. Philosophy has a Kiss Me exfoliating lip cream that is amazing and using this (I love doing it daily a week prior to an appearance or shoot) will only enhance your pucker, allow your gloss to go on evenly and make you feel better. Protect your lips by constantly moisturizing. I just became addicted to Sally Hansen's Vita B which leaves a nice layer without being crazy. WARNING - it's super addicting and you will go through a tube very quickly!
Steven Cojocaru also known as Cojo storm TJ Maxx in order to find out some of the most amazing finds that can be seen at your local store! Not only is it fun to hear us gabbing but there are some amazing finds that you'll definitely want to find out when thinking about stocking your summer wardrobe! If you missed our last video, check out our Summer Trends!
It's time to pack it up and I am on my way to the airport but had to say some things about a city that I have definitely embraced and can't wait to come back to. In addition, this trip (no shocker here) also spurned a lot of business contacts for Kimmie Smith the brand as well as for Kitten Lounge. Deets to follow can't wait to come back to NYC to my Kittens, Dolls & Glamazons! Watch the vid, wheels up!
We just came off the first week of February and I don't know about you but this weekend is going to be busy with dinners, parties and of course the Super Bowl. With so many things going on, good thing that DJ Eloy has the perfect mashup music video to get us ready for the next few days ahead with a little Stereo Love.
Today is a pretty crazy day as we just launched our Holiday Gift Guide which will continue to have new entries from now through Jan 15th! So with the madness and giveaways that we have going on today (as well as the Twitter Party that I will be hosting for Crispy Green tonight) I wanted to share a fun video that was released today on Nicole Miller's site!
Many of you know that this was one of my favorite fashion shows this past September and right after the show, I popped into her Fashion Night Out event as it was right around the corner. I love that this video shows both of these moments as well as behind the scenes looks at putting a show together, designing and so much more. I think that this is the perfect way to launch a week - enjoy!
Now that we are definitely in the fall season, it's a must that we update our look and even take some new notes in terms of our makeup! Once again we check in with FLIRT!. Holly hosts another fab video which allows us to make a new look in an easy way and of course you can check out the entire FLIRT! It Girl You Tube channel in order to see previous videos as well!
I'm all about accessorizing it makes the everyday outfit pop when you can add something extra to it. Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that Bryce Gruber and the team at The Luxury Spot have an amazing vid about Vatooing (they also did an awesome one of vajazzling as well) - yes it's the temporary tattoo that you can place on your vajajay to give it that extra something. I'm all for accessorizing but I think that that area is one that I will leave bare. I'll say that Completely Bare definitely has you covered from keeping you smooth to making you look snazzy. I will say that I love the girl in the black dress that has a fab bib necklace (would love to know where she got it). In addition, if you're going to jazz up the area I wonder if it makes it more interesting or a little more scary that you're rocking a cobweb outside of Halloween? Regardless it's a cute vid and Bryce looks phenom as always!
This Sat is a huge night DJ Eloy will be in Long Island doing what he does best - mixing video and music! Come to the Shore Club, info is on the invite. Make sure you leave your names here so that you can be on the guestlist. Loving that it's open bar until midnight so if you're in Island Park (this is one stop away from Long Beach) come out to see him perform. He's going to be super busy as his tour starts up and I may not see him again until Nov in Japan when a large group of us will be out there. If you've yet to go to his shows, you need to see how he gets the crowd moving and how passionate he is! The Shore Club is a fun venue and with amazing weather, why not take some time out? Hit the beach and then we'll club it up - dancing is the best exercise and the healthy glow you get is fab for the complexion tooD! Check out more about DJ Eloy here!
You never know where DJ Eloy is spinning next (of course you could check out his website - DJEloy.com) as he could be at Prana, the beach house, cruise ships, Seattle or Japan. But one thing we do know is that he knows how to spin as he integrates videos - we all have our faves and you can check them out! But if you get to see him spin in person, you know that not only does he keep everyone moving but there are always fans that pop up to get a closer look on his skills. Check out DJ Eloy spinning with Axe Twist on hand to keep him looking fab and of course this fan steps in to get closer to the hair action. With dates coming up, we'll keep you posted on DJ Eloy's own video showing how hair action keeps him moving and grooving!
I love this time of year when there are various videos about upcoming collections! This recent video is a peek into Lily + Jae's Spring 10 collection! What better way to see it then to hit the road with the girls as the collection unfolds in front of your eyes. I also love seeing how a photoshoot comes together and this desert is such a zen experience that you'll enjoy taking a rest while watching it!
With Jan a near memory, it's fun to think about getting back out there to your favorite party spots. We can no longer say that we're avoiding going out because we partied to much during the holiday season. To get in the mood, check out these press ops that took place recently in Las Vegas! As always, I love to share some of the fab videos that you can find at KarmaloopTV!
Oh yes we're back to covering bands on Kitten Lounge! I love attending shows and can't wait to see Jessica 6 on Oct 6th for their record release party! I'll be honest that beyond hearing songs online or snippets here and there, I'm not familiar with the group; however, the comments that I have heard all over the sphere lead me to believe that this will be a group whose melodies will not be easily forgotten. Individually, they have done so many collaborations with artists that I have loved such as Massive Attack and Goldfrapp that I'm very excited to see them. Of course that means that next week, I'll have to let you know how the show went and much like other shows, I will post some footage! It's always fun to go to release parties and I'm sure that this won't be any different. Until then, I wanted to give you a peek into their Fun Girls video which was shot live at Le Poisson Rouge here in NYC. If the song is any indication, it will be a great show!
We're in that time where you'll think of any excuse to throw a little party (or maybe a big one). We just threw a large Lobster Boil Party which was a great way for people to come out, have some great food and a few drinks. We had a theme, I had sent out invitations and everything went from there. Whether you're a natural at planning or could use a few pointers, I wanted to share a great video of a party planner that I recently met! Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to go on the Dekuyper Party Bus where we not only enjoyed shots of Dekuyper's ready made shots (this means you don't have to stress about being a bartender), but we enjoyed nibbles and learning that you can have people come to a party in various ways with various budgets in mind! Take some time to hear some ideas and never think that you can't have a function whether it's based on space, money, food or even ideas!
Fashion Week started yesterday and with today being Valentine's Day - it's all about the love! Although I love the official collection of designers that show at the tents, I am also a fan of those that are offsite or are apart of additional presentations. As many of you are aware, many designers pulled out of the tents in an effort to have a smaller affair. I love that Halston decided to do an interesting interpretation of the runway showing the full movement of his clothes. I definitely think that innovation is going to be what sets designers apart this season and into the next ones. Enjoy the video and the journey of the model as she passes various designs from his collection.
So one of many surprises was released today! Each Sunday, I will come to you live via Mogulus talking about what's going on, giving sneak peeks and more! On Mogulus, Kitten Lounge has it's own channel which is available at any time! Currently, you can enjoy this post, DVF's induction into the Walk of Fame and also an interview during last Fashion Week with Robert Cleary of Dashing Diva!
In today's show, I let you know about Kate Hanley, the author of Chill Anywhere. She will be at East West Books at 5th Ave on 14th St on Mon Jan 12th from 7:30 - 8:30. This is a great way to get the book, get it signed and of course to meet the author that can also be seen contributing to Body + Soul, Good Housekeeping and on Martha Stewart Live! In addition, I let you know about Soul's Calling giveaway and about the need for Yes to Carrots. Finally, you got a sneek peak on Tuesday's post which will talk about the Orbit. Take some time to check in with my new station which will be live each Sunday at 3pm!
Yet another great episode of Cooking to Get Lucky! I love that Bob and Eden are back to share a great show! Take some time to check this out and if you have missed previous episodes, you can catch them here.
I have written about Hafdis Huld before and she has a new CD out which you can hear right here! This singer from Iceland has such a unique sound that I am so eager to share with all of you the new single Stop! It's interesting because it was recorded originally for a Merecedes TV ad in Europe, with such a great reaction, they decided to really put some great instruments behind it and to release it! Don't you love when you use something for one purpose and then realize that it can really be something even more amazing? Check out the new song and some others on Last.FM and if you like, check out this previous post which includes her video Tomoko!
I am such a fan of music and have such a wide interest but, when I'm working, I have a very specific type of music that I could work to for hours. When I first found out about Lindsey Yung, I was intrigued by this piano playing singer/songwriter. I love the fact that she plays solo and that although I would classify her as a pop artist, she also has Hawaiian influences and although I didn't see this through the video, With Every Breath, she also plays the ukulele (as shown below).
This San Diego artist whose CD will be released October 2008, on her birthday no less, can be seen within her videos and performing live in long skirts of vibrant colors. I also love that she performs in her bare feet! After two years of work, if you happen to be in the San Diego area on October 4th, you'll be able to see her perform and to get her CD as well. Lindsey is such a celebrated singer/songwriter who finds her inspiration from the beautiful landscape of Maui. Enjoy the video and hear more snippets from her Myspace page.
A few weeks ago, you were introduced to Rachael Sage here on the Kitten Lounge who I feel is a mix of She & Him, Kate Nash and some of my other favorite artists. This summer, Rachael Sage released Chandelier and one of the songs that was released was Vertigo. In the last post, I included the audio but now, we have the video! I love the carnival vibe of this video with it's catchy tune. Not only will you be able to enjoy this video but it's giveaway time! We have 2 AMAZING gift packs of Rachael Sage. From now through next Tues we are looking for your comments that will be linked to this post. Play this video and tell us what you like about this song or when you would listen to this song. To me, this is definitely something that would be perfect for me to listen to while I work in Starbucks. Leave your posts here and I will choose 2 winners next Tues who will receive:
Right before Fashion Week, I had an amazing tip about an artist that I HAD to know about. Let me just say that when I got a little clarity today, I enjoyed learning about Red Grape Records' artist Hafdis Huld. Originally from Iceland but living in the UK, she has an amazing folk, acoustic, pop sound and I love this video that is currently on You Tube called Tomoko. Hafdis is the girl that is not in the brown cat suit dancing around! I debated this point back and forth until I had a talk with Kerry and he set me straight! I have to say that I love her sound! You can also learn more about her and other songs via her Myspace account. Her sound is unique and it definitely puts you in a great mood, I'm not sure who the second person is in the brown catsuit but the video is fun to watch because of their interaction! Thank you so much Kerry for the tip/clarification and I hope you guys love this video as much as I do!
I love this season! There is a show every where you turn and we can all allow our inner (fill in the blank) Audrey Hepburn or Elizabeth Taylor come out. Although many of these pieces may not be something that you would wear out, you can definitely take some nods from these fashion greats! Fortunately, I am a fan and would wear anything that came off this runway! Salvatore Ferragamo is one of my favorite designers and recently in Milan he unveiled a line that I would not mind having in my closet!
My favorite outfit (that I would wear in a jiffy) is this super cute cocktail dress that not only wraps and has a beautiful key hole effect, but it also has a cute scarf. This is such a sassy look which makes us all feel that we are red carpet ready. I love the classic blue color and I love the snazzy elements that allow for shimmer. In addition, I love the idea that you can pair this with a cute clutch (I am so about this and feel that it is a fashion essential).
The peek a boo effect of this outfit is so cute! This is perfect to wear along or over denim and leggings. This is perfect for a night out when you are going to a premiere of some sort and you want to show how cool you look. Once again the shimmer is much appreciated!
This outfit makes me think of a disco dancer. I love the shape of this outfit and how it fits the upper body and instead of becoming a dress, it's a pant suit that is not only sexy but extremely classy as well. I love the black, white and grey colors of this piece.
My favorite "night time" look from this collection is this top. I love how it loops around the neck and the pop of color which shows a green portion of this outfit. I have always been a fan of this look and with a little Hollywood Tape, this is an outfit that will have every eye looking at you no matter where you go. Although I have shown a few images here, make sure you visit Coutorture to see more from this show and many others!
I LOVE Flip Video! I just got it for Christmas - don't you love when you get Christmas presents early? Anyway, I can''t wait to start doing video stories and more - which will be available here. Anyway, this is the same item that Oprah gave away during her "favorite things". I received the bundled package which included the tripod, case and of course the Flip! Over the next few weeks, you'll see posts with me using this and if you have a Flip, feel free to give tips on how to use this! I will be in Vegas for Project, Magic etc in Feb and I will definitely enjoy using this. Check out Flip's website and in case you're wondering, I have the pink one!
