I never liked carrying an additional bag before I came to NY. I somehow found a way to bring everything in one bag. Now I always have a bag to tote around items and many times I want a cute bag like the ones above when I'm out and about (I'll opt for it in lieu of having my purse during the summers)! This week, we have focused on various eco options that are available and since today is officially Earth Day, why stop when you're on a roll?
Today, I was inspired my boyfriend, Paul (and Food Editor on this site), who wondered how he could get his hands on an eco bag! Being a former surfer, one who enjoys the ocean and someone who believes in Farmer's Markets - I thought I would help him out! In addition, yesterday, I was in Forever 21 and saw the 'Go Green Tote'. I love that whether you're at Forever 21 or Whole Foods, there are extremely affordable totes that help you save the Earth (oh yes your $1 goes far) and in many cases, you can get a discount of sorts at various stores for reusing your bags! Of course, there are various companies making totes that are nearly $100 as well so there are tons of options. I should have purchased the Go Green Tote; however, I have to say that my favorite is the Cindy Kirk Recycle Pattern Green bag that is available on Piperlime.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner and as many of you begin the three day fest in order to make room for one giant bird, I am going to offer a suggestion that might be just as tasty but not quiet as dry. I am not a huge fan of turkey’s white meat and if one is not careful this bird is probably the easiest to overcook. This year, I am going to stuff two turkey legs and prepare a 5-6lb organic whole duck with a molasses based glaze for extra crispiness. If you are looking for an organic duck, you can always pick one up at your local Whole Foods. Specifically, a Culver Duck, which is USDA, Grade “A” Five Generation, All Natural Whole Duckling. Personally, I love duck, but the fattiness of this bird might not be for everyone, so enjoy the holidays, prepare what you do best, but just make sure to remember to concentrate on the organic or the all natural and if possible support your local growers.
Photos and the recipe will be posted next Monday as my holiday special. Gobble! Gobble!
We love hearing from you! Suggestions, ideas and thoughts are always welcome.
Please send all food related questions to Paul, spa and wellness items to Keren and all other queries to Kimmie.
