Swoonfest Saturdays ~ I'm All About Cheese

This past Thursday, I headed to Murray's Cheese with Paul's mom as we were going to learn about AND make mozzarella cheese! The one thing that most people know about me if we're eating or about to eat - but I love cheese. It doesn't matter what it is and any situation is that much better when it is in front of me!

I suggest taking this course as we had a number of cheeses served on a slate (which you can write on as it comes with chalk), we sipped various wines as we learned and then the best part was actually learning how to make it. When I say it is the simplest thing ever - this is not an understatement. Last night I whipped up the other half of the cheese and Paul was happily nibbling it! To start off, mozzarella is curd which you can order from Caputo Brothers Creamery (conicidently, one of the owners - a super nice lady sells as well as makes this cheese - the name comes from her sons as they are brothers), then you need a bowl of cold water to put the mozzarella in once you have made the balls and another bowl which you will put hot water in! If you opt to stay out of the cheese making business, just go to Murrary's and buy a number of cheeses and meats (which we also did).

Last night was such a great night! There's something about great ideas coming together! Although this is not the full recap, I had to share! About a week ago, Celebrity Hair Stylist, Kristan Serafino and Beauty Blogger of Serafino Says and I talked about life, business and everytihng in between. By the end of the conversation, we knew we wanted to create an event that had celebs, beauty and accessories! Within less than a week, Accesshairize was born! None of this would have been possible without our great partner and sponsor, the James Bentley Salon.

We honored Laura Osnes, the 2012 Tony Award Nominee (our fingers are crossed for her on her big night on Sunday at the TONY Awards) and we chatted all things beauty and accessories while hearing her talk about Broadway, her show Bonnie and Clyde as well as her upcoming role in Cinderella! More details will follow but thank you Bartenura for the fabulous Moscato which everyone enjoyed (and HUGE thanks to Peg Samuel of Social Diva and Stiletto Consulting for the connect). Huge shout out to Nina Handbags and Ted Rossi who have always been phenomenal partners of Kitten Lounge and have carried their support into Accesshairize! I'm glad that Kaaral beauty products and Victoria's Secret had fab spritzers AND we all nibbled on Georgetown Cupcakes that were TONY Award themed. Not to mention, that it came just in time to the season opening of Georgetown Cupcake's new series where they take on opening a shop here in NYC (watch it on TLC tonight at 9pm!).

Now that I am settled back in NYC - I can focus on the long weekend! This one is about keeping it easy and making sure that there are plenty of beverages and snacks on hand! As many of you know, I'm a huge fan of wine and the varieties that I love continue to expand! There seems to be a club for everything that you're interested in and wine is no exception! Check out Club W which is a subscription service that allows you to choose how many bottles you want a month to come to your home (3, 6 or 12 bottles a month). You can select or have a sommelier choose them for you. I love the packaging and this is perfect to give as a gift or to ensure that you have wine on hand. I love that there are videos available online to tell you about the wine you're about to pick and/or consume which is super helpful! If you're going to have a wine party at home, make sure you have cute glasses like this set at Kohl's. Wine that needs to be chilled can be in this fabulous bucket which definitely catches your eye and is available at Horchow. This week, I'm sharing some fun fashionable items that you can wear on Thanksgiving! Trendy Thursdays: Event ~ Birchbox & Caudalie

There have been so many things going on this week! So when I received an invite to head to the Plaza (living just down the street from this hotel is so great as there are so many events there) to meet the ladies of Birchbox as well as to check out the Caudalie spa and their products! I love that they had an event that was open to many of their fans of Birchbox and I loved that I could come in to preview the event and to get the opportunity to chat with Mathilde who is one of the founders of the brand (super cute husband and wife team)! I learned about the importance of wine within their beauty products (their family owns a winery as well as an amazing spa in Bordeaux) and that the brand is definitely one that focuses on being as natural as possible and is cruelty free! In this month's Birchbox, you'll find two of their products including the Premier Cru Eye Cream as this box is themed in "innovation"! They also have a phenomenal Beauty Elixir (teasing you with the packaging and will definitely post about this upon trying it out in detail but when I was sprayed with it, I knew that this was a must have as you can wear it whether you have make up on or not and totally feel refreshed!

We were given facials which I declined since I had a shoot later in the week (although I definitely will try it soon) but I used the phenomenal products on my arms and legs and had the most amazing mini massage. Knowing that my skin was infused with wine and loving the fact that I felt hydrated without having that oily/sticky feeling was perfect. You'll definitely have to check back as I will start using these products in my daily routine!

We'll recap the weekend spent in DC as I'm currently prepping to make my way back to NYC! I was definitely inspired by a phenom Wine and Tapas restaurant that Paul and I went to in DC that was not too far from the Hotel Palomar within the Kimpton family of hotels! I loved that it served Mediterranean food and the decor had wine bottles everywhere! So you too can bring this super chic look into your home as well as finding fabulous pairings with your vino of choice! Whether you're like Real Housewives of NY's Romona who insists on Pinot Grigio being at the ready or you simply like to sample a number of them, your home will look fabulous with this Wine Hutch from Restoration Hardware. Snazzy Sundays: Spring Break 2011 ~ Brunch & Yellow Tail

Once again, Happy Easter! You know what I love so much about Easter, it makes me think of Spring Break and fun activities that are always happy to have at home! With that said, brunch is one of those things that allow you and your friends to come together. What I love most is that it's totally easy to do at home. So, I wanted to give you insight on ways to add fab pops with a fabulous floral arrangement, invitations from Crane and Co on your personal stationary (a hand written note is always amazing), a super fun recipe that I just made this morning - an Egg and Sausage Casserole (received from Makeda of Glamazon Diaries that I tweaked) and of course the brand new bubbly in white and rose by Yellow Tail.

Egg and Sausage Casserole

10 Eggs

4 Cups Bread Cubes

4 Cups of Milk

2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese

1 Lb Chicken Sausage Andoulie (can do Italian Sausage or your fave meat)

1 Tsp Dry Mustard

1/4 Tsp Onion Powder

Black Pepper - (to taste)

*Brown your sausage of choice on Medium High. When browned, make sure that you put it on a plate with a paper towel so that it can drain.

*Crack eggs and place in a bowl. Mix the milk, dry mustard, onion powder and black pepper into the egg mix.

*Pre-heat the oven to 325 degrees.

*Take a 9 x 13 inch pan and ensure that it is greased, Drop the cube bread into the pan. Sprinkle the cheese on top of the bread. Pour the egg mix evenly over the top of the casserole. Spring the browned sausage over the pan.

*Place in oven and leave for at least an hour. If the top browns too soon, cover with aluminum foil.

*Let cool

You can do the above steps up until heating it the night before and place it into the fridge overnight if you wish.

Snazzy Sundays ~ Trapiche Argentinian Wines & Barbecue

Last week I found myself invited to an amazing barbecue with Trapiche Wines which is an Argentinian series of wines. Being a girl that is usually all about whites, I was intrigued to be introduced to various Malbecs. In addition, they paired everything with an American style barbecue, courtesy of Hill Country BBQ (loved the brisket, chicken and the cornbread) at the fab space of Frederick Wildman! What makes Argentinian wines so amazing and rich - it's climate, the love and the fact that it goes so well with many of the things that we enjoy eating. I'll also note that although I enjoyed their reds very much, the white wine I had prior to our tasting was outstanding as well! Of course, we can't wait to organize a Kitten Lounge trip to visit this vineyard in March during the harvest season as we're told that this is the best time to go! Snazzy Sundays: Dinner at Morton's Steakhouse

I love restaurant reviews and although they are typically on Mondays, they are officially moving to Sundays! On Sundays you'll be able to find home decor, travel and food/wine posts here as it helps you plan were you'd like to go during the week! Earlier this week we headed over to Morton's Steakhouse at 551 5th Ave. The video above is the amazing Prime Ocean Platter for 2 which has lobster, large shrimp, oysters, King Crab, etc. The platter was overflowing with fish and it was more than enough for us! But backing up, Morton's Steakhouse is something that I'm very familiar with. Growing up in Indiana, I used to go to Chicago and would eat there on my visits. It reminds me of the classic steakhouses that I grew up with in the midwest while having an upscale setting to enjoy your dinner. This location, which is on 45th street between 5th and 6th ave was quite large. There was an upstairs dining area, the bar which was very roomy, the main dining area and they also had 3 private rooms. The lighting was soft and this location had a great mix of those that were heading to the theater at 8, holding a business dinner and even tourists. Immediately, we felt that this was a cozy environment.

The first thing that you notice throughout the entire meal is that although you have a designated server, you are supported by the entire staff that's there. If someone who wasn't your main server took an order or gave you something that you asked for, the next person wouldn't ask if you received something. In addition, with a full staff on the floor, you never felt that you were being watched to the point of being uncomfortable. I think that's an important balance to strike and they did that perfectly.

I rarely drink red wine unless I'm eating steak which I normally don't; however, this is what Morton's is known for so as we sipped our wine we looked at various options. I loved that when the bread came to the table, we asked if they could cut it and without a pause not only did they do so (away from the table) but our server said that people many times liked to do it themselves but it wasn't a problem - perfect. When they go through the menu, which you have a few minutes to look at, they bring a cart to show you your options. They actually have all the cuts of steak and go through each one, you see the lobster option (yes this lobster was alive sitting on the plate - I felt slightly bad for it as it came out each time they went through the menu but I have to say that it was huge!), they show the ingredients that go into their signature salad - The Morton and they run through specials as well as desserts. Certain desserts were made to order (which we both had a signature) so those would have to be placed with the rest of your order.

As I mentioned, we started with the Prime Ocean Platter. Since it was so large, there was no way that I was going to have a salad. I really loved one of the sauces which was a mix of mayonnaise and mustard, it went really well with the King Crab legs which were huge. I had the Filet Mignon double cut butterflied and it was cooked at medium well, I really enjoyed this as it had great flavor and I didn't even need the sauce that came with it. I would suggest the Cajun Ribeye as I almost picked this once since it is marinated in cajun spices. They can put the spices on anything but it wouldn't be in the meat as it is with this particular cut. Paul had the New York Strip Steak and he seemed very happy about it. Each side is ordered a la carte and I already kenw that we were going to have the Creamed Spinach as that is my favorite veggie to order at dinner and we also had the Hashbrown Potatoe. This side dish comes in a pan and is a huge plate of hashbrowns. It was the perfect compliment to this meal. We had to save room for dessert as I ordered Morton's Legendary Hot Lava Cake - it was amazing! I love the raspberries on top and enjoyed my vanilla icecream. Paul had the Chocolate Souffle which also comes with cream - amazing! We also enjoyed after dinner drinks, I had Bailey's Caramel which went well with my dessert and Paul had cognac which he later put into his coffee!

The meal couldn't have been better, it was relaxed, everyone was attentive and yet not to the point where you felt like you were under a microscope. It seemed that having a 6pm reservation is a great time as they got busier through the night. This is a great place to come to for a business meal, grabbing a drink after work with co-workers or to impress friends and family out of town!

Whether you work for yourself of for someone else, I have come to find that Sunday is still the universal vegging day and when it comes to the summer you still want to have a way of relaxing while optimizing. Living in Long Beach, I tend to make sure that my Sundays mean that I am in my town but there are times that I find myself in the city just like any other day in the week. My Sunday attire is typically simple so weather I'm in the city or in my beach town, these fab accessories can work well back into my outfit. I love Marc by Marc Jacobs and have been rocking his large sunglasses for about 2 years now. I think that I want to add to my collection with a pair of his aviators! I'm always wearing Havaianas as they are always easy to wear and pretty much go with anything I tend to wear! I love this pair as I have to rock the Brazilian flag on my feet. Finally, my rings are always important and I love this one as turquoise is the perfect stone year around but I definitely love seeing it in the summer or anytime it's warm!

What do I like to do? When I'm staying in at the beach, we tend to go to our amazing bagel spot earlier in the day and at night (if it's nice out) we talk a walk from Long Beach to Lido Beach to stand in line at Marvel Dairy Whip. I used to be a huge Carvel fan but not anymore. I think it's super fresh, the employees are always cheerful and at night if you drive over (rarely do), you can sit in the back of your car enjoying your icecream and seeing everyone getting icecream. It's my favorite part of a Long Beach summer! When I'm in the city and I plan on staying over with friends, then you have to do the sidewalk experience. Nothing compares to a summer city night where you began your evening at sunset and you're still chatting until nearly midnight soaking up the weekend! When this happens, I love Ayza Wine and Chocolate Bar which is in Midtown. There are always people at this wine spot and they have great nibbles as well. With various promotions throughout the week, it's nice to take some time to just catch up on whatever you couldn't during brunch!

It's seriously snowing outside so you know that I'm staying in all day! I just found one of my favorite wines which you can find at Pasanella and Sons Vintners - Vigneto Saetti Lambrusco! I love that this tasted like a red wine that had a mix of champagne in it. The fact that it was organic as well definitely made it an added benefit. This is a must for yourself or for gifting (I received it as a gift). Now with a tasty wine, you need a fab glass and I have become a fan of anything that is stemless. Finally, this is best enjoyed with tasty cheese or chocolate. Today, all of the nibbles featured are available online but if you're in NYC you can conveniently shop at Pasanella and Sons, Li-Lac Chocolates and Murray's Cheese! I'm all about going to back to basic ideas and what about planning an amazing picnic lunch for Central Park, Prospect Park or wherever you're storybook park resides! Think about getting a cute retro bike, a basket to carry a lunch filled with cheese, crackers, fruits, etc, a blanket so that you can play Scrabble (for some people you better bring your laptop so that you can access your Scrabble dictionary as some people like to test you on whether your tiles are a word) and of course your favorite wine! Mingling Mondays ~ Sidewalk Heaven

It’s Monday morning and the last thing you want to do is to get out of your cozy blanketed sanctuary just to answer questions from people, who are apparently smarter than you as so stated on their business cards. Your phone/alarm clock goes for the fifth time and you realize that hitting the snooze button is no longer an option. You must make a decision and you must make it now. Unlike any other Monday leading up to this magical day, you decide go for it on fourth down and call in sick. This isn’t exactly the: “Good morning, I quit in order to pursue my artistic aspirations” type of call, but at the same time you do feel a sense of encouragement that may be, just may be, today is the day that you can free yourself from the restraints of corporate America. Or may be you just want to go for a walk in downtown Manhattan and buy yourself something nice; most like it’s the later.

Its ten o’clock, you get out of bed, put on Sports Center, take a shower and begin prepare your favorite, yet uncomplicated breakfast; two eggs over-easy, a side of bacon and whole grain toast. Although, you’ve made this dish hundreds of times before, surprisingly bacon will be the reoccurring theme for this prefect day. As its time to leave your spacious Manhattan abode, you throw on your favorite pair of jeans and your favorite pair of sneakers, which by the way you would never attempt to wear to work. You grab your cell, your ipod and you’re out.

As you are strolling down Broadway checking out the latest Adidas Originals releases, with Gnarles Barkley blasting into your headphones, you begin to smell something overwhelmingly delicious and inviting. You can’t put your finger on it, but you decide to follow in the footsteps of the great Inspector Gadget, investigate the situation and follow the aroma to its source. You turn onto Bond Street and as you chuckle on the inside at all the poor souls eating chicken wraps on their uncomfortably short lunch breaks, you realize that the scent is getting stronger at a furious pace, so you must be getting closer to your destination. You’re there and you’re in shock. Luck is on your side, you went for it on fourth down and not only did you make it but you scored a touchdown. Your mind celebrates and your mouth is watering. In front of you is Il Buco’s (www.ilbuco.net) 200lb Ossabaw Pig roasted whole to perfection, being expertly dissected by Executive Chef Ignacio Mattos. This is your sidewalk heaven. This is the reason you called in sick. This is the place where you can be free. And if just for an afternoon your memories of the plastic world to which you have become so uncomfortably addicted are replaced with the primal and the authentic. Its love and it lives on a narrow cobblestone street in the city.

On Monday, September 22, 2008, Il Buco restaurant celebrated its 14^th anniversary while hosting its fifth annual “Sagra Del Maiale”, an outdoor Pig and Apple Festival commemorating the Autumn Equinox. Executive chef, Ignacio Mattos began roasting the 200lb Ossabaw beast at 4:30am and he wasn’t finished until 11:30 am. The hogs of Ossabaw Island, off the coast of Georgia, are descendants of “Pata Negra” Spanish pigs brought to the New World over 400 years ago. They are generally smaller in size and have a higher fat to meat ratio, which make them perfect for the “infernillo style” roasting. This particular hog was brought to the city from Cane Creek Farm, Mebane, NC, which specializes in peanut fed Ossabaw pigs. Accompanying the start of the afternoon was a number of delicious complimentary items: Flying Pigs Farm Porchetta Panini on Ciabatta with Blueberry Balsamic Mostarda, House-made Flying Pigs Farm Pig, Apple and Peperoncino Sausage, Farmer's Market Panzanella, Julie's Wild Arugula with Lemon, Red Onion and Pecorino and Apple Ricotta Fritters with Saba.

The afternoon was a spectacular event, which showcased the undoubtedly talented Executive Chef, Ignacios Mattos and his deep knowledge of authentic preparation of Ossabaw hogs. The restaurant, owned by Independent film maker Donna Lennard, boasts a rustic décor which reminds its patrons of its inception as an antique shop. It provides a warm and romantic setting that is perfect for any occasion, from anniversaries to birthday celebrations to simply an enjoyment of a wonderful meal with your loved-one. Il Buco specializes in Mediterranean cuisine and differentiates itself from other neighborhood restaurant by utilizing only sustainable and local agriculture. The pastas are freshly made daily on the premises, the olive oil is imported from Umbria and all meat and produce is fully organic and raised without the use of any hormones or antibiotics. And obviously, we cannot forget about the wine. The extensive boutique wine collection is designed by sommelier Roberto Paris and features a far-reaching selection of Umbrian wines; the list strongly represents Spain, France, Germany and the U.S. as well as other countries. Il Buco’s philosophy is “to seek out wines from smaller, lesser known producers, introducing our customers to a variety of wines they might not otherwise have the opportunity to sample.” Il Buco is also a location that is of legends. Legend has it that Edgar Allen Poe, once a regular visitor to 47 Bond St, took the wine cellar as inspiration for his haunting short story "The Cask of Amontillado". Mingling Mondays ~ The Last Standing Pesto

First meal, first post and culinary honesty being the focal point, what does one do on a Saturday night with a half empty refrigerator, a bottle of wine and a hungry girlfriend? The answer is simple, you start drinking and you start thinking.

As I rummage through the refrigerator, I notice a couple of tasty products that might just work as a cohesive and hopefully edible meal. As we refill our glasses, here is the list of products that are being assembled on the countertop:

2lb bag of 31/40 frozen raw shrimp
rice (obviously the 10 minute boil-in-bag kind)
16oz bag of frozen Goya mixed vegetables
left over pesto sauce (cilantro, basil, pine nuts, olive oil, salt and pepper)
craft cheese singles
unsalted butter
salt and fresh ground pepper
fresh jalapeno peppers
grape seed oil

If some of you are not on first name basis with grape seed oil, no worries, a post dedicated entirely to its cause is soon to follow. As our second glass of wine is getting lighter by the second, I am ready to put this meal together. I begin with a 10 minute preparation of rice and frozen vegetables. I finish the rice with some butter, salt and pepper. Once that’s complete, I mixed the rice with the vegetables, pesto sauce and one jalapeno pepper. The jalapeno pepper was roasted over an open flame and with the suggestion of my right hand girl; the seeds were included in the mix. If any of you are unfamiliar with jalapeno peppers and are not best friends with spicy food, my advice to you is to leave the seeds out and to have rubber gloved professionals place them gently in the garbage can and forget all about them.

As the third glass of wine is being filled with delicious liquids, I realize that that shrimp is still frozen solid. Desperate measures call for desperate acts; the shrimp go into a pot, get covered with water and defrost on medium heat for about 5 minutes. Be careful not to cook the shrimp in this stage of the process. Once the shrimp are ready, they are dried, peeled and mixed into the vegetable rice. All of the contents are then placed into a pre-greased (grape seed oil) casserole dish and covered with craft cheese singles. Seriously, if I had fresh mozzarella cheese then it definitely would have been a better choice for this dish. Pre-heat the over to 450 degrees and cook the contents covered for 15 minutes. Then uncover, stir and finish cooking for an additional 10 minutes. Don’t be afraid to add a little bit of water to the casserole dish while baking.

So, your meal is ready, your bottle is finished and you are ready to eat. Honestly, if you are anything like me, you’ll be prepared with another bottle of Pinot Grigio, your decent china and large forks. Just remember, you don’t need to have a plan, just bring your appetite, your desire to eat something delicious and the moxie to ruin two pounds of shrimp. Good luck!

Sippin' Saturdays: Plum Wine

One weekend my boyfriend and I went out to a really good sushi restaurant in Long Beach and I happened to order a plum wine. I did it because it sounded really good and as much as I love Sake, I wasn't really interested in having it. I loved how sweet and smooth it was! Later on that weekend when we made dinner, we bought Sake and Plum Wine, intending to have it together as a Bonsai. We ended up just drinking the Plum Wine and more specifically, we had selected Fu-Ki Plum. Now I am truly hooked on plum wine and although I have had it with Sake, I prefer to drink it alone. The other weekend we went to Sushi House in Hoboken and I had their Plum Wine - so it is confirmed that this is something that I do enjoy having even when I'm not eating it with sushi or fish. It is absolutely refreshing and I think that it works well with all seasons which is very important as well. I look forward to trying the different kinds and seeing the ways that it can be mixed together.

When I get my weekly mani's and my bi-weekly pedi's, there is only one place that I run to (I simply refuse to go anywhere else)! Dashing Diva has multiple locations all over New York City and they are definitely my sanctuary when I need a little time out! I love their pink colors, plenty of colors, fun events and so much more. I do enjoy going on Fri's to get my pedicure and manicures with a nice cosmo (I was also a huge fan of their wine pedicure as well) Recently, Kitten Lounge attended Dashing Diva's event which had the cast of Legally Blond the Musical in attendance doing a Bend and Snap competition. The pictures included below are courtesy of Sarah Conley which you can see more of her coverage on Style It! This location which was off of Union Square is my favorite one to go to! It was really cute to see the cast members together and to see the winners of the Bend and Snap competition!

Dashing Diva definitely loves the Kitten Lounge and its readers and is providing 3 Elle of a Pedicures (fit for Ms Elle Woods herself) which we will be giving away on this site on Fri the Fourth of July at noon! Any trip needs a little research in my opinion. Even if you never really go on the trip, having a little knowledge never hurt anyone. When it comes to Astor Wines and Spirits, this is a great place to go to see a variety of wines and spirits - those that you know and those which may not be familiar to you. I also love that when visiting the site, you can register so you can learn more about classes and tastings that are offered. Now you can branch out beyond your favorites and find housewarming gifts, something to bring for dinner and much more as we get closer into the summer. This is also a great way to pass the day when you had yet to plan to do anything and it is a tad too hot outside to do anything else. Snazzy Sundays ~ Pop Up Bar

No matter how much of a backyard, deck, etc that you have - you can have a pop up bar at your disposal thanks to this super cute piece, known as the Sydney Bar, that's available at West Elm. I love that there is space for you to prep, people can have their drinks on another stand and there are various areas to organize your beverages and tools. I love that you're glasses have a home, there are holes for wine and much more. I think that this is such a great thing to have and feel that it could even be something that you could use within your home for those that may be in large cities where we don't even have space to have a backyard. Since Friday, the city has continued on with Earth Day activities with the Go Green Expo that has taken place in the city. This is a great way to see how you can go green at work, home and anywhere in between. There are seminars, a variety of booths and more. With everyone talking about this concept, this is a great event to learn how to put it in to practice and to see the dedication on various levels where this is being put into operation! I am actually attending today which is the shortest of this week's schedule. I am definitely excited to taste the food, wine and to just learn how I can start applying this into my everyday life and of course to share with others. I think that having your wine displayed in your home is like art in a way. Interestingly enough, when I visit someone's home I always look at the bookshelf (it's always a shame to see an empty one or one that isn't there at all) and I look for wine as well. I can't say I know a lot about it but it says something when you don't see a bottle or two. When it is there, it's always better when it is presented. I love this wine rack since true to our theme of LAGOON, it contains wicker which I have always felt is islandish in nature. I love that this added element makes it different than typical wine racks and definitely looks cozy as well. I also love that it is available at Target.com so it's chic and very affordable!

Saturday my friend and I did our weekly brunch. Nothing is better than sitting back and enjoying a great meal that lasts a few hours. On the way back from our UWS brunch spot, we took a walk and popped into a few shops and noticed a cute little wine place - Wine and Roses. I loved that even though it was a chilly day and a little overcast, the outdoor tables has roses in a glass. Interestingly enough, later on that night, I had the opportunity to come back with a friend to try out this place for myself. I love the intimate vibe and the fact that the music went back and forth between current dance tracks and I believe some jazz in there. I have always been a fan of Shiraz and had a glass last night. Everything is centered around the wine and the menu has interesting items beyond cheese and breads. Although it was packed, I loved seeing so many people enjoying wine and sampling the food as well. I feel that this is a great spot for friends and small parties. After visiting the website and seeing the monthly pics that are updated, it made me want to become a regular as I noticed many of the same people within various months. Mingling Mondays ~ Xai Xai Wine Bar

People always like to know about a great spot. You want to go somewhere where you know you can find a table, has a laid back vibe, a few nibbles and a great space. My goal in terms of going to a great lounge is knowing that no matter what day you choose, it's always perfect. My pick for this week (and any other) is Xai Xai Wine Bar. This bar recently opened and is NYC's only South African Wine Bar. I love that in terms of "nibbles" they have tapas and cheese plates which are perfect. If you're looking for something to do on Friday after work, Shandy Fridays just started. For those of you that aren't as familiar with this, it's beer and sprite together. I think this combo is great for those that aren't really into beer but would like to learn more about it. Of course when I went last weekend, I enjoyed their selection of Shiraz and loved the very earthy natural vibe.
