I don't care that we have some amazing days and then a few crappy rains that hit us! We have to bring the sunshine with us everyday no matter what's going on seasonally or in life in general. With that said, I had to turn to some inspiration as I'm in desparate need to find a great summer bag and of course, I have to start with Jimmy Choo to decide how I will focus my wardrobe around it. I am in love with the Saba Suede Handbag in Sun! I love the African bangle which definitely adds an interesting twist to this piece while also being the perfect item to wear on your wrist. How easy it is to throw some items in here before running off to brunch, to visit a friend or (dare I say) go to work? This looks amazing with jeans and flouncy skirts and is definitely something that I wouldn't mind adding to my collection. Of course you're bound to find what you're looking for by visiting Jimmy Choo for inspiration and great pieces
What is the nature of the farmer’s market, the organic and the all-natural? I believe that it’s simplicity. If I may venture down the cliché alley, in my opinion it’s the simple things that make our lives worth living. The undemanding and the effortless welcome us in an array of circumstances and unanticipated probabilities; an unexpected smile, the laughter of a loved one or may be just a lazy Sunday walk at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
Personally, the memories of my favorite meals are not set in bold Soho establishments, but are a part of treasured slide show filled with family dinners, friend’s apartments and my great aunt’s loving touch. Back in the day when organic was the norm, the farmers market was just a market and dinner conversation was not just a clever dialogue on ones favorite sitcom, meals were born and past down to our generation. I believe that we need simple recipes for simple markets with simple produce. The simple is the organic and the true. Today, I am going to introduce a simple recipe with ingredients that can be found at any market and prepared by any one.
Sauce
2 medium onions
1 green pepper
1 head of garlic
1/3 bunch of celery
2 yellow squash
2 zucchini squash
7 small tomatoes
Molasses
26.5oz Pomi strained tomatoes
Preheat a large pot with a little olive oil. Chop the onions, celery, eggplant, peeled green pepper, garlic, yellow squash and zucchini squash. Brown the vegetables over high heat. Add fresh tomatoes and continue to sauté. When the vegetables are ready and you’ll know when they are add 26.5oz carton of Pomi strained tomatoes and just as much water. Bring to a boil, add three tablespoons of molasses and reduce to simmer. Season with salt, pepper and red pepper flakes to taste. Continue to cook the sauce until it thickens to the desired consistency and add more water if necessary. If you are a vegetarian then your pasta sauce is ready and if you are an omnivore like myself add meatballs 10 minutes before the sauce is finished.
Meatballs
3 lbs ground pork
1½ lbs ground beef
1½ lbs ground lamb
1 cup parmesan cheese
1 cup Italian style breadcrumbs
1 extra large egg
1 onion
3 garlic cloves
½ cup of water
½ cup of chopped cilantro and parsley
Mix everything in a large bowl and season with salt and pepper to taste. Shape the meatballs to your desired shape and size and place into an oiled aluminum pan. Preheat the over to 500º F and brown the meatballs. Add the meatballs to your sauce 10 minutes prior to completion.
Cooking does not have to be complicated and ingredients do not have to be expansive in order to prepare a delicious meal. All you need is the knowledge of a couple simple cooking techniques and the courage to use any ingredients that you think will work for you. And trust me, a couple of good friends and plenty of wine alongside your newly found love for the homemade is that one perfect and necessary garnish for any meal.
I have to say that I am in love with B Makowsky! They have super cute bags that we should all tote around as the fall is without a doubt upon us. I love these bags as they are perfect for the season, who wouldn't love the caramels and the yellows which are perfect hues to have year around. I love the leathers and the hardware that make these pieces conversation worthy as they see you coming and going. We all need stylish pieces while also making sure that it's affordable. In that case, make sure that you take a peek at Zappos which has various bags in styles and colors that are perfect to fill out your wardrobe! Take some time to also check out other pieces and of course a few pair of shoes that will be perfect for fall, the holidays and any other occassion that seems appropriate!
My earliest memory of eyelet was when I was little. I had it in my crib and the growing up, I had it as a bedskirt. I was always fascinated with the delicate lace like fabric with the "little holes" as I used to say. I always associated this fabric with bedding coming in cream and white. But as I grew up, I realized that eyelet didn't have to be confined to just bedding and that it could be made to look very sassy while still being forward and sweet. Here are great looks that include eyelet with pops of color (who doesn't love yellow or blue). I also love that it is totally perfect for bed time. Eyelet is perfect to wear to a garden party or Hamptons event (once again the pop of color is noticed). Then again, it can be paired with jeans for a fun night out on the town! For a look that is perfect for pool side or a party by one, try the yellow tunic dress or even the blue top with a cute pair of leggings! Ah the versatility - something for everyone
I love many of the images from Christian Dior's Cruise 2009 Collection. There are so many vibrant colors that pop, I love the infusion of the essence of the Southern Belle mixed with the island babe. My favorite outfit from the entire show is this dress. I love that it's fashionable confection! Obviously the colors are very complimentary to one another and I love the length. This is the perfect item to wear when you go to a friends cocktail party on their rooftop or in the Hamptons! At the same time, this reminds me of a dress that would have been a favorite for me to put on my Barbie! The sleek look with the ruffle is perfect and I love the necklace that was paired with this piece. This is definitely the effortless and comfortable look that you would want to wear when being out and about. It's not a bad idea to think about wearing a cute hat with this as well. Take some time to visit Coutorture to see all of the images available from this show and many other Cruise oriented runway shows as well! If you're cruised out, you're bound to find other great items as well!
On the day of the DVF shoot, I decided to walk. Why I did this on a day that was a little chilly and still a little rainy - I don't know. But I have to say that I enjoyed walking down 5th Ave to see everything that was around. By the time I got closer to the Meat Packing District, I noticed this super cute bakery known as Billy's Bakery. Right now I am in a bit of a cupcake battle. I have to say that I am a Buttercup Cupcake girl and my sister is in love with Magnolia Bakery; however, I am always interested in trying something new. The inviting look of this yummie bakery definitely made me think of stopping by on a day when it wasn't busy. I love the mint green bench and how everything is in a light yellow trim that reminds you of something to be found on a cupcake!
Although I didn't go in, there were tons of people in this cute little shop that definitely made me think that this was the place for me to try and perfect to bring your best friend or sig other! After visiting the site, I loved seeing that you could buy cute merchandise and read up on a lot of press as well. As the weather gets better, start taking some trips around the city and make Billy's Bakery apart of your travels. Whether you love cupcakes, Key Lime pies or more this is the perfect way to pair up your Soy or Organic Milk with something extra tasty I also love that they run some late hours as well which is perfect for a late night sugar urge.

You guys March is almost over and our homage to THINK CITRUS is rapidly coming to a close and bringing us closer to next month's focus which I am VERY excited about. But sometimes in an effort to think too far ahead, I forget about enjoy where I am right now. So today, as I looked through Coutorture which is definitely a first stop on what's going on in fashion, I saw the epitome of what is citrus and amazing! Antoinette Lee Spring has a photoshoot that is currently showing on Coutorture and she has a lot of cute bags but this yellow Dolcita clutch is so cute - dare I say that it is all about the luxe lemon? I love the buckle hardware and the little studs - of course who wouldn't love how small it is! So this is something that you can pop into your wardrobe at anytime when the weather is a little dreary or you need a quick pick me up. In addition, there are so many fun pieces in this collection with names to match that you will want to know much more about. Visit the site and start making your picks on what you will be clutching this season.
It's almost the end of the month and slowly but surely we will be leaving our theme of THINK CITRUS and will be moving on to another theme. I am actually excited about this and the fact that today is the first day of Spring! This means we are that much closer to being able to enjoy one of my favorite outfits that I could literally live in - bathing suits! This bikini is made by Diane Von Furstenberg. I love the orange, brown, yellow and white portions of this outfit and of course the sexiness of the ties are an amazing touch. I also love the little wooden embellishments that make this suit even more exotic! This is definitely a suit that you will continue to reach for when getting your beach bag again and again. In addition, a girl has to have more than one suit and thankfully you won't run out of options on Bluefly! Check out this, coverups and much more.
I love the fact that at any given time there are Fashion Week shows taking place around the globe. This is a great way to see the creativity of so many designers. In terms of staying with the theme of this month, I wanted to choose some amazing designs that have elements of THINK CITRUS. Thanks to the hard working people of Coutorture, I have included some of the posts and of course you can see a lot more from India Fashion Week and of course other designers that are currently showing in other Fashion Week Shows.
I love this outfit because of the super cute cami and skirt with this beautiful wrap across the top. This definitely makes me think of wearing this at a cocktail event on a beach or someones loft that has a beautiful deck. The embellishment is absolutely gorgeous and I enjoy the trims as well. I think that she definitely looks like a princess.
I have to say that this outfit is my absolute favorite! I love the pops of yellow and that it ties on the side. Once again I think there is something very regal about this and I love the black, white, silver and orange hues. You can never go wrong with a super cute clutch as well. This is definitely something that would be cute to wear at South Beach during some amazing event.
I like the blend of the sheer tones of orange and black. If I were wearing this, I would so wear this with Carnelian or an Agate stone that picks up these gorgeous tones. I love the beaded portions on the top of this dress and definitely feel that this is the perfect dress to wear to a gala and to set you apart from the typical "black gown" that people gravitate towards. Once again visit Coutorture to find more images from these shows.
When it comes to Pucci, I tend to love their shoes. They have fun abstract patterns that dress up even the simplest of outfits. What I love about this shoe is that it fits within our fab theme - THINK CITRUS. I love that there are tones of orange, yellow, cream and white in the oh so classic espadrille. This is perfect for short skirts, circular dresses and pants of various lengths. Not only are these shoes absolutely adorable (and quite the calf enhancer), they are available at one of my favorite sites - Piperlime.com. You could literally spend hours looking through their selection and find the perfect match for all the outfits you have and those that have yet to be decided upon. Check out Piperlime.com to see all the brands and styles and definitely think about these super cute wedges which would look amazing for any evening out for a drink or two.
I love t-shirts! Those with graphics are even better! I think they're perfect year around and they can be layered as well. I love this shirt with the pops of yellow on it. What a sunny shirt to wear when you're out and about with friends on a weekend brunch, when you're traveling and want to wear something comfortable. I love the 60/70's "Love Theme" that seems like something Beatles oriented. The best thing about this shirt is that for under $9, it's all yours - what a great way to build your weekend wardrobe or your vacation one if you're about to head out on a trip. You have to love Forever 21 and if it's not in your area, you can shop online which is always a good thing! Check out more pieces on Forever 21 for you and others (great gifting).
