I always tell people that brunch is the most important meal of the week! It's a great way to touchbase with friends and to chat about what's going on and what you plan to do together. As we continue to transition into spring weather we can wear less outerwear and get back into wearing heels and cycling through a number of fun accessories! Roll over the above images to see how this fun look with a focus on yellow is the perfect look for wherever you're heading off to this weekend. I love Tory Burch, J Brand, Roberto Cavalli, Kimberly McDonald, Rachel Zoe, Will Leather Goods and Alexandra Tempestato.
The 9th episode of last week's Project Runway took place at the 5th Avenue Lord and Taylor department store with the inspiration coming from the retailer's signature, "American Beauty Rose", as well as the customer in mind as well and finally finishing the look with selections from L&T's Accessory Wall. The winner, Michelle Franklin, had their piece produced and is sold exclusively at the store's select locations, their website and included within the windows of the 5th Avenue location. Michelle's chartreuse satin colorblock shift dress with chiffon and microsuede trim is the perfect item to include within your spring wardrobes without a doubt.
As many of you know, I'm a huge fan of Lord and Taylor as I love purchasing my outerwear as well as shoes from the 5th Avenue location. I can always find what I'm looking for without having to worry about not finding a sales team to assist me! Above you can see how this dress began in sketch form and how it is available for purchase and how it is styled. Of course, you know when it comes to accessories, I always have a few twists and I love playing with yellow as it's a great neutral to build on top of!
ACCESSORIZE THE LOOK
Here's how I would style this look for myself or for a few of my clients who love playing with neutrals! All of these items are available at Lord and Taylor and are perfect to wear with a number of other looks that you'll wear throughout the Spring and Summer! Roll over the images above to find out more information about getting the above.
Just a few weeks ago I commented to someone about how the weather has been pretty decent for winter! In fact, we have even had some unseasonably warm days which was nice and then we hit the weather that took place yesterday - rain snow mix! I suppose we can't really complain as it's not so bad but the teasing of what we can wear as we get closer and closer to Spring is unbearable. So to that end, I'm always glad when I get a chance to travel during this time of year - but how do you travel best when you're going to a warmer climate?
I'm heading out to Charleston on Thursday morning and will be back home Friday afternoon. On a trip like this, I tend to have my garment bag and a weekender so that I don't have a lot to take with me and it ensures that everything can come on the plane with me. I love a look that lets me get right off of the plane and straight to what I need to do! I love a good kaftan and once you roll over the images, you'll see what pieces I love using and rocking so that I have great effortless style even when I'm up in the air.
I love a little wrist love and there's nothing better then having a number of stacks together to showcase your fabulous arms! I had to share some of my favorites that are in my personal collection across the top. From the left, Nagicia has a rich navy hued bracelet with a fabulous gold bead. This is a great go to piece for me to wear during the spring and summer no matter what look I am going for. During NYFW, I was gifted a super cute and very bold pink bracelet from Debbie Merle Designs which is comprised of striped agate (I am a huge fan of this stone) and crystal rondells. Right before NYFW, I was gifted from Beso Beso which is a fabulous rich dark greenish hued stone that has a bit of bling with its pave crystals. This was the perfect Valentine's Gift to receive and is begging to be layered with a number of pieces in my collection. The final winner in my collection comes from a designer that I have admired for years and can say that I love her friendship and her spirit which comes out in a number of her pieces. My large onyx ring that I wear comes from her collection and these bracelets which are 3 fabulous black beads with Swarovski Crystals, comes from none other than Ana Reign!
WHAT I'M LOOKING TO ADD TO MY WRISTS
As an Accessories Expert, I can never have enough pieces and I'm always looking at how to rotate in a number of different items to rock whatever I'm looking to wear. I fell in love with Punch and Judy a few seasons ago and love the hues within this yellow and green piece which is very much so on trend. Keeping it neutral while glisteny with this elongated stunning crystal is what you'll find in this Year of the Boar. Satya Jewelry takes the beaded bracelet to another level with its use of some of my fave materials Yellow Quartz Citrine! Continuing on with a pop of color, aqua is always a great piece to have in your wardrobe and this one by Sydney Evan which has a fabulous embellishment of a Crescent Moon which is very old world and creates an aged and storied quality to it. Finally, I love a beaded bracelet that brings a great amount of bling by combining a number of elements together. Tat2 Designs has Vintage Gold Brass and Dalmatian Jasper which will be the essential go to piece from Little White Dresses (LWD), paired with denim or any of your favorite boho chic combos!
On a rainy day like today, I'm always asked what one should wear when traveling to a warmer climate when you need to hit the road running. I love keeping it light and easy and of course it's about pops of color for your accessories! I love playing with primary colors as it's a classic look!
THE LOOK
This look is easy whether it's in the spring/summer and the weather might be a bit rainy or you're looking for a way to head to the airport! I believe that everyone needs a great trench coat and should have a navy as well as a khaki one. In addition, a long one as well as a short one is an essential as well. Building out great outerwear in this category is an essential and is a great way to infuse color! This Coach (I definitely want to rock the one in pink) trench is definitely the perfect item to have in your closet. Pair this with L'Wren Scott who always has great ruffle tops that are classics as well as fun prints. This yellow one has a great pattern and one that works well with this Paige jegging.
ACCESSORIZE THE LOOK
Running through the airport doesn't mean you need to slack on style nor does it mean that it needs to be cumbersome when you hit TSA and have your items scanned! I love Marc by Marc Jacobs Turnlock Rubber bracelet which is a great way to show off this look. Effy Collection Citrine ring is perfect to bring this yellow hue back into the outfit and is a great cocktail ring that is always one of my signatures when I'm out and about. Although I am a heel girl, I'm also very much so into flip flops (usually Havaianas and sandals! These sandals from Sergio Rossi are perfect and can be worn casually as well as dressed up - I'm absolutely in love and know that I must pick up a pair for my spring/summer! The red with the navy and white stripes is absolute perfection and seems to scream warm weather. Pop red back in with this fringed clutch (yes if I am traveling for a meeting and am heading from the airport and straight to the conference room, I will have it in hand. This clutch by Mara Carrizo Scalise has an elegant rich and worn leather that just completes the look. Finally it's all about the luggage and although I tend to travel light (even when I appear on HSN for 3 segments) with a weekender, I like knowing I have options whether I need to bring more OR I want to change it up a bit. Nothing is better than Diane Von Furstenberg's collection which combines form and function together!
Yellow is a great hue and this vibrant tone is definitely one of Pantone's Spring 2013 hues that dominated the runway! I love that just by wearing this color, you have an extra spring in your step and as we continue to have longer days and warmer weather, why not shake up your wardrobe with some fun additions? This is the perfect look for the weekend, casual days in the office or of course when you're working from home. This definitely falls within my category of "nuvo glam" as it's an effortless style of dressing that can be worn to a number of places without having to change.
THE LOOK
Start out with this Rag and Bone tank top which has a nice flare to it paired with these Victoria Beckham denim leggings which have a slightly yellow hue. Keep it cozy with this striped yellow and white cardigan by Splendid.
ACCESSORIZE THE LOOK
Complete the look with fun accessories including these vibrant heeless shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti. Add a yellow sapphire by Jade Jagger which is the perfect cocktail ring. This gold plated and onyx necklace by Just Cavalli. Adorn your wrist with this fab Alexis Bittar cuff which is frosted with crystals. Finally, complete the look with this Marc by Marc Jacobs Q hobo bag.
Last night, Kitten Lounge closed its coverage for the day by heading over to The Strand Hotel to see Victor de Souza whose collection's theme was Le Carnival du Destin which brought bold hues from vibrant pinks, baroque muted tones in mauve and purple as well as an amazing yellow gown. Here are some favorite picks of the night.
London Collections Men continues into its final day. With the winter coming upon us, we're looking for vibrant color and we found it with Orlebar Brown which launched six uears ago via Adam Brown, a photographer! He conceived this line which creates tailored swimwear for men! What a great alternative to what's out there in the marketplace and this season which looks at FW2013 is not only retro (this very Art Deco and everything I love about Miami as the collection is broken out into 3 areas: Miami Nights, Poolside Decadence and Beach Frivolity) but fun with it's yellows, red and a hint of mint! With a mix of printed shorts, blazers, oversized bags and more - we're ready ot jump on a cruise to really embrace this look. Who doesn't love bringing in that Miami sense no matter where you're off to or just popping it in to the overall look?
It's officially awards season and we will let you know about a number of the looks that are being rocked at a number of red carpet events that take place from now until the end of the season! Yesterday, the Audi Golden Globe 2013 Kick Off Party took place last night at Cecconi's restaurant in West Hollywood. NBC's Fashion Star, Louise Roe wore a fabulously yellow dress from Todd Lynn's Spring/Summer 2013 collection. I love the kaftan effect of this piece and accented with a pair of pointy toe heels and L.K. Bennett 'Alexia' clutch in taupe. This is a great look to wear when you're thinking of the perfect outfit for a brunch, bridal luncheon and more.
As we're barely in the month of November, there are so many things that are going on. Here on the East Coast we work harder to get back to our lives with the aftermath of Sandy from getting back to our schedules, reconnecting with people and pushing forward. We're days away from the election, days from the holidays, just reset our clocks an hour back and just having that sense that the calendar year is about to flip to 2013. It's a lot of change and whether you're overwhelmed or excitedly forging ahead, there is a sense of getting in the mindset to move forward!
For me, my job requires that I do a bit of traveling generally a few days here and there and I have to have everything I need nearby and to make it functional so that I am not lugging an insane amount of items. I have been obsessed with fabulous luggage from weekenders, rolly bags and garment bags! With the sense that I am going to go into these last few weeks determined to do some shake ups of my own, today's post is based on this vibrantly yellow Cantarelli bag. It makes me think of travel whether I am on HSN, designing a line, doing a press trip or actually getting a much needed getaway! There is something about yellow that is powerful and subtle. With the need to push forward, I find that when I get focused in one area it spills into everything. So changing it up within my decor to continue my inspiration, yellow can be infused within my bathroom with Home Source International towels. In the kitchen there are a number of ways to pop in yellow just to freshen things up with Spoonula sets from Rachael Ray, a cast iron pot from Staub, a tea and/or coffee set from Bed Bath and Beyond and fabulous bowls from BIA Cordon Bleu. When it comes to entertaining and bringing friends over, keep it fun with these ice duck trays from Lekue and keep them cold by placing them in this Bodum bucket with ice pincher!
Who doesn't love glamming it up as they head to an event? At a recent LACMA 2012 Art + Film Gala, Wolfgang Puck's wife, Gelila Assefa, looked beyond gorgeous in this stunning graphic black and yellow dress! Althouogh her earrings are definitely stunning, I feel that she is a bit bare and would love to pop in some elements such as this Olivia Collings Antiques drop necklace which has the fab trend of fringe. In addition, this fab agate ring has geometria with this agate ring from Delfina Delettrez which fits within the conversation piece category!

With the summer quickly coming to an end, you have to do something special whether it's going out with your girls, having a rooftop dinner with your honey and more. I'm loving that this dress is perfect by starting off with Roberto Cavalli and to have fun accessories inccluding Nancy Gonzalez, Gucci watch and Brown Sapphire as well Opaque Sapphire from Eva Fehren and Jamie Joseph. I love the fact that this cuff is a fab way to add a bit of bling with this Federica Rettore and of course complete the look with these stunning heels with Rene Caovilla.
Over the past few weeks you have noticed some rolling changes and I have another one from you. As an Accessories Expert, I always love connecting you with amazing finds or showing you how I would enhance a look that I already love. I'm excited to bring a new format to Kitten Lounge - simply roll over the images and be directed to more information without having too much text to clutter the space!
This weekend, ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars star, Shay Mitchell attended Teen Vogue's Back-To-School Event rocking one of our favorite looks cas to glam hot pink blazer, white cami and a cute pair of leather shorts that are cut in a romper style. She paired this with neon limon nails, a turquoise beaded necklace, blush pumps and an agate ring. Of course I had to enhance the look just a bit with a number of pieces that are perfect to top off this look and become great staples for whatever you're wearing.
I love this Botswana Agate Ring by Chan Luu which is a great neutral, of course these fab double platform heels by Rachel Zoe are perfect and have a bit of twise as I love that the ankle has a bit of a point - as someone who adores shoes, this is such a great paor to have in your closet. I'd switch out her limon nails for a soft butter melon hue by Butter London known as Bumster. Finish the look off with this fab turquoise necklace by Kendra Scott.
I am all about running around and getting my day to day tasks taken care of - even in this heat! Sometimes it's not an option to put it off or to hope for rain so you just have to think smarter and lighter!. I'm obsessed with this Malene Birger style as I was obsessed with it when I saw it in black and white and now that I see it in this washed out yellow - kismet! Bottega Veneta has a fabulous cowry shell pendant necklace on a silver chain as well as python wedge sandals. Because I love mixing textures as well as metals, I love this Roberto Coin diamond bracelet that has silver, gold and rose gold - decadent. I would also pair this with Nicky Hilton's quartz ring which is a nice pop. Finally, I'm OBSESSED with Jimmy Choo's leopard print calf hair bag! I love that their bags also come with a cuff that can be an accessory to your bag or one that you can slip on your wrist!
I'm not going to lie, I am a huge fan of taking night looks and rocking them in the day. The essential classic night shirt is perfect to wear later in the evening but how about bringing it in the day? Brulee currently has a sample sale and this shirt is phenom to rock in the day for meetings, errands and to board a flight! Pair this with Zero+ Maria Cornejo which has a crop knee legging which is super cute. Pop on a pair of Rupert Sanderson yellow and black laser cut butterfly heels! I love Cathy Waterman's citrine ombre beads. Pair this with Fendi's cuff and rock this Elliott Chandler cocktail ring.
It's been a heat wave for the past few days and we have made it to Friday! Although it feels like we have been living on the sun, there's never anything wrong with infusing it into your look. Maxi skirts have been running around all over the city and we love this Dip Dye one by Topshop. Pair it with a silk Alexander Wang top to bring some yellow back towards your face and bring on the accessories! Alexis Bittar's gold necklace with long molten Lucite is the perfect pendant to rock with this look. I'm loving Stephen Dweck's Crystal Quartz ring in bronze. Layer it in with Charriol as I rock their bangles everyday and add an ethnic twist with Linea Pelle! Finally, make your feet uber comfy with these flat sandal espadrilles by Tory Burch!
I live for maxis as it's super easy to wear when you're cozy as well as to accessorize it up! I love that this striped dress by Calvin Klein looks amazing with these heels from Sergio Rossi pops in black, yellow and pink within the straps of the shoes. Pair this look with this large envelope Givenchy clutch makes the look upscale. I love this cuff which is an elongated one with a separation that creates an intricate look by Citrine by the Stones. Finally, rock a fab cocktail ring by Mesi Jilly, which combines onyx and a cowrie shell ring to add just a dash of glamour to the overall look.
Who doesn't love rocking yellow? It looks fabulous, makes you feel warm inside and there are so many ways to do it to make you feel comfortable. First, I'm loving this white tank with yellow embroidery from Anthropologie which has such a free flowing lok to it which will look fab with the flared trousers from Alberti Biani. Make it look fab by rocking a pair of Christian Louboutin which are white with a red back and heels and black straps. Rafe makes this look even more chic with their miniaudiere solid shell clutch and of course bling it out with Tiffany & Co's citrine ring!
Happy May - we're finally locking into the time period where we definitely don't have to worry about these dips in temperature. Many of us have actually begun to dip into our summer wardrobes and we're not even looking back towards our winter gear. My love for maxi dresses has definitely encompassed the maxi skirt! I'm loving this fabulously striped pleated skirt from Alice and Olivia. When you wear something that not only has a number of colors as well as textures and movement, I like to create a little simplicity and love that this tank top from Club Monaco is the perfect item to pair with this skirt! I definitely want to pair a fun necklace with this look and Noir Jewelry has this fab bugle knot necklace has fun hues that are woven in. On you hand, this Dara Ettinger cocktail ring has a fabulous yellow hue which brings sunshine from your hand! Yellow picks back up in this look with my fave pair of sandals by none other than (shocker) Giuseppe Zanotti which has your feet wrapped in this hue as well as adding a little extra bling. With so much color, it's an even better excuse to include this python stacked set of 3 bangles to make everything look completely relaxed by Ted Rossi!
Over the past month, Kitten Lounge has been reviewing Lucille Roberts and our biggest take away is that in addition to the wide selection of classes and a number of locations throughout NYC (check your area to see where one is in your city) - I love the fact that they have trainers and it has definitely helped me even when I am not working out at this gym! It's great to build a relationship with the person who works with you as well as to let you think about what you want to target everytime you meet with one another. Later this week, I also had the opportunity to do Fuse Pilates (more on this later in the week). When I'm working out, I always think about what outfits and events will I be going to and what do I need to work out. When it comes to summer, I'm all about my arms, fab legs and of course great upper and lower abs!
With that in mind, I present a fun look that I'll be rocking in a few weeks for an event that I am hosting! I am obsessed with Halston Heritage as they always get it right. I love the chic, flirty and girly look of this dress. But, I love dressing things up and putting a little edge on it for sure. This dress seriously focuses on your arms and begs for a fab pair of legs. Pair this with fab heel-less shoes from Giuseppe Zanotti which of course means that you need rocking leggings. When it comes to the arms, adorn them - these cuffs by Maison Martin Margiela which brings out your inner Wonder Woman! Slip on one of my fave designers, Sevan Bicakci and top it off with this cork handbag by Kara Ross!
I love this time of year and anytime that you rock golden hues, you're already fabulously decked out! Finding the perfect look is essential whether you're hosting a dinner, having fun with the girls or simply just having a fun get together! Start off with this fantastic Giambattista Valli striped gown which will look phenomenal when you're on a special occassion! This is so Grecian goddess it's ridiculous and phenom! Finisg this look out with various touches. I love the double bracelets which should be stacked upon one another - start off with Jennifer Elizabeth's Khloe wrap bracelet which actually has a Grecian aesthetic and then slip on Leighelena's python bracelet! You can never leave without having a fabulous cocktail ring on your hand and this one by Moritz Glik is fab within the Kaleidoscope that's gold wth rose cut and floating diamond! Finally, rock these fab sandals that are metallic by Lanvin. Together this is a fabulous goddess look!
I have been obsessed with mint for a number of months and when I saw that one of my favorite designers and friends, Aiisha had this gorgeous piece, it made me think of all the things that I love about summer, rooftop parties and jetsetting! I love how it looks on the runway with a simple sandal and hair pushed up so that you definitely look like a sun kissed goddess, but of course I had to add the full on look! I love how simple and eye catching these Virgins, Saints and Angels earrings are as they have such a whimsical feel for this look. Pair this with the fabulous Alberto Juan Prohibition Cocktail that's a fabulous peridot cluster cocktail ring! Jil Sander has a fabulouse envelope clutch in my favorite material - python! Finally, a simple freshwater pendant is an excellent way to cap off this look by Athena Designs.
It's all about bringing sunshine with you wherever you go! Start off with this fun piece by Thakoon! Sometimes people get overwhelmed when choosing pieces that not only have a primary vibrant color but other hues that are in it as well! I love that there is such an exotic look to this dress that you should pair it with a set of 2 bronze tone arm cuffs from Maison Martin Margiela. Slip on Elliott Chandler's citrine cocktail ring as it's another item to keep you in a sunny disposition. Julie Tuton's earrings are the perfect way to rock this look for those messy bun days. This Chloe sequined box clutch ties in the remaining colors of this dress in a fun way without being matchy matchy. Finally Charlotte Olympia has fabulous Rapunzel raffia crepe de chine wedge pumps which are super cute and sweet to this fun look.
I'm loving the whole colored leggings and jeans which are so much fun to wear! I'm loving the turquoise jeans by Topshop which are complemented by this fabulous yellow Tibi tank top which is such the look right now. Pair this with fun bangles from Aqua which compliment this vibrant look. Loving topping this look off with a scarf such as this one by Echo Design. Finally, I've been obsessing over Chloe since I have this fabulous pair of sunglasses by this designer that look very much like this but are in gold. Of course my wedge love continues with these fabulous tan shoes which become a stable for whatever look you're rocking!
I love flowy dresses for special events and Sonja Morgan (earlier this month) hosted Nickelodeon's Orange Carpet Premiere! Yellow is definitely the color of the season and my closet. But there are other fabulous chiffon gowns that you should have on your list. I'm loving Oscar de la Renta's one shoulder silk number which is fabulous and makes you look like the belle of the ball. I also love Halston Heritage's Ocean Degrade Hem dress which has a gradiating hue that also allows a bit of skin to show so that everyone can see how fab your shoes are. I also love this necklace by Bidermann which is a cuff and accents your neck (this works with all three dresses). These dresses have a bit of the Grecian aesthetic so Cathy Waterman's, Gold Laurel Leaf Ring is the perfect way to complete this look.
